Night had fallen over Jump City, it's denizens going about their routine lives underneath the bright street lamps.
The Titans were relaxing in the tower, Robin and Beast Boy were competing in a fighting game, Cyborg, Yuu and Starfire were sat in the kitchen area discussing cultural differences between their respective worlds and Rock and Raven were at the far end of the room, Raven reading and Rock was meditating with Mato.
Suddenly Beast Boy and Robin's game was interrupted by a large insectoid face looming over them.
"Killer Moth." Robin growled.
The rest of the Titan's gathered around the screen.
"Killer, Moth?" Yuu asked in disbelief. "Really?"
"Citizens of Jump City." Killer Moth started.
"There's a guy running around here called Killer Moth?" Yuu muttered. "Am I the only one who finds this strange?"
Rock stood next to her and shook her head, she moved her hands quickly.
Mato said he sounds like a villain from one of your old mangas. Strength said.
Yuu let out a snort of laughter before quickly covering her mouth and nose, the Titan's looked around at her.
"Sorry." Yuu giggled as she blushed furiously
Killer Moth ended his speech with maniacal laughter as all power in the tower turned off. Starfire generated starbolts around her hands to illuminate the darkness, a bright red ray of light shone out of Cyborg's artificial eye and Rock allowed her eye to ignite, adding it's light to theirs.
"Aww, man." Beast Boy complained. "I can't believe he ruined my streak! What are we going to do?"
"I think first of all, we need to get power back." Robin said. "Cyborg, can you check the emergency generator?"
"I'm on it." Cyborg nodded.
"Friends." Starfire said, walking over to the large windows. "The whole city is in darkness."
"He must have attacked the power station, there's going to be a lot of scared people if we don't get the lights back on!" Robin declared, he pointed towards the door. "Titans go!"
"So what's the story with this Killer Moth guy?" Strength asked as she rapidly moved through the city, flinging herself from building to building while a green sloth was on her back with it's arms wrapped around her neck.
Beast Boy had taken to this method of transport after admitting to Strength that while he could move around in the same way, even his gorilla form quickly tired out from the constant strain on his muscles. Which is why he flew everywhere instead but told her that it was quite boring after a while, as there was little frame of reference high above the ground.
Strength had offered to carry him from then on, he got worried afterwards about whether he was too heavy for her. To which her response was.
"I can handle it, Strength is literally my name!"
"I dunno dude, I think he was some sort of scientist who got turned into an insect man." Beast Boy said.
"Was it intentional?" Strength asked.
"Maybe, you should ask him." The sloth smiled.
Aww, cute! Yuu squealed at the dozy grin.
Strength shook her head to get rid of the strange image of a smiling sloth and threw herself around even faster.
The Titans arrived at the power plant, Starfire broke through the main gate through the perimeter fence. They stood and looked up at the huge, rectangular building.
"So, how do we start up a power station?" Beast Boy asked, scratching his head.
"We'll have to find the main control room and restart the generators." Robin said.
"That won't be possible Titans!" A deep voice yelled at them.
Killer Moth stood on the roof above them.
"Killer Moth!" Robin snarled, clenching his fist. "What have you done?"
"Nothing." Killer Moth said as a massive explosion shook the building. "Except blow up the boilers, now begone Titans! I have a city to claim!"
His four wings rapidly flapped as he rose into the night sky and flew away.
"You know." Strength said. "I wasn't expecting him to be quite so… Fuzzy." She laughed.
"This isn't a joke." Robin said seriously, looking into the distance and drawing his Bo Staff.
Giant eyeless creatures with vast drooling mouths and jagged teeth crawled over the edge of the roof, dropping down to the ground behind them. More emerged from surrounding structures, all of them had beige and pale pink stripes.
They all started to converge on the Titans.
"What now?" Raven said, as the Titans took battle stances.
"We need to get this place started up." Robin said. "Cyborg and Raven will go in and assess the damage. The rest of us will stay here and prevent them from following you." He yelled over the loud squishing. "Go!
Cyborg nodded and lightly slapped Raven's arm, the pair ran inside while the five left outside prepared to fight.
Starfire leapt into the air and circled around, launching starbolts at the creatures which were advancing with surprising speed. Strength stepped forwards and shook her huge hands as Rock summoned the Rock Cannon behind her, Beast Boy turned into a gorilla to her left and Robin crouched, ready to attack on her right.
"Remember, low velocity, non-lethal." Robin said to Strength and Rock.
Rock nodded.
"We know." Strength sighed as she opened fire.
Inside, Cyborg brought up the building plans on the built in display on his arm, he lead Raven through the twisted steel and concrete to where the control room should have been.
"Guess he wasn't lying." Raven drawled. "What now?"
"We should look at the combustion chambers." Cyborg said. "This way." He gestured with his head.
"If he's destroyed them as well, how does that help?" Raven asked as they walked.
"Depending on the damage, the turbines themselves might be intact, If we can find a way to get them moving we might be able to get power running." Cyborg replied.
"How?" Raven asked. "I don't see any hamsters to put inside a wheel." She said dryly.
"I might be able to repurpose a dynamo into a motor, I could use one of my power cells to run it." Cyborg suggested.
"How long would that last?" Raven asked squeezing past a collapsed walkway.
"A few hours, hopefully until sunrise." Cyborg said.
Back outside, the swarm of creatures had doubled their efforts. Strength's hands had started to steam in the cool night-time air as she fired, dancing between the Titans, plugging any gaps in the perimeter they were enforcing. Rock stood firm, back to the double doors shooting her cannon and battering any creature that got past Strength, Beast Boy and Robin were leaping from foe to foe knocking them unconscious one at a time and Starfire was luring groups of them away
"Are these things giant caterpillars?" Strength shouted over the roar of her guns.
"I think so!" Beast Boy yelled back.
"Maybe one of them could be a friend for Silkie!" Starfire exclaimed as she flew overhead.
"Star, no!" Robin cried. "It wouldn't fit in the tower."
Raven suddenly appeared out of a black portal next to Robin.
"Cyborg thinks he can bring back power for a few hours." She said.
"How?" Robin yelled, struggling with a caterpillar.
Raven took a step back as thick mucus ejected from its mouth.
"He's going to try and use his power cells to spin the turbines." She muttered.
"Cyborg can't power a whole city!" Robin grunted.
Strength looked back at Rock, who nodded.
"Maybe I can!" Strength yelled over at Robin.
"How?" Robin replied.
"It'll take too long to explain, Raven can you take me to him?" Strength asked.
Raven nodded, dark energy encased them both and they vanished through a portal.
The beasts started breaking through now that Strength had left, the Titans pulled back towards the door.
"Rock!" Robin shouted. "Got any tricks to help?" He asked, risking a look behind him.
Rock nodded and morphed her cannon into it's Gatling form, Robin's mouth gaped as he watched. Nearly getting crushed for his inattention.
"Dude! That's so awesome!" Beast Boy roared as he swung his fist.
Strength appeared next to Cyborg who was standing in front of a large circular metal chamber with a huge ragged hole in the side.
"What's up?" Strength asked cheerfully.
"Strength? What are you doing here?" Cyborg asked in surprise.
"I heard you were thinking of trying to use yourself to brighten everyone's day." Strength remarked sarcastically. "You need to get the turbines to spin?" She added after seeing the confused look on his face.
"Oh, yeah." Cyborg said.
Strength peered up into the chamber, several meters above her a shiny metal fan with dozens of blades sat unmoving, a shard of metal came off in her hand as she touched the outside of the big tank.
"It's damage from the explosion, I don't know why but it falls apart very easily." Cyborg commented. "Probably some kind of chemical."
"I can help, I need a boost though." Strength said. "Doesn't look like I'll be able to hold on to the chamber."
"What are you going to do?" Cyborg asked.
"I'm going to spin it, obviously." Strength smiled.
"By hand?" The machine-man asked.
"Kinda." Strength said, her smile getting wider. "Don't get envious."
Strength's right hand started to deform, loud clanking came from it as it quickly changed shape into a four barrelled vulcan cannon.
"Dude!" Cyborg cried.
"Give me a boost?" Strength asked.
Cyborg nodded, grabbing her waist and lifting her onto his shoulders. Slowly she stood astride his head, foot on each shoulder, with her mechanical tail against his back balancing her.
She peered down.
"Don't look up my dress." She growled.
She looked up and slammed the vulcan cannon into the fan, with a thought, the barrels started spinning up in preparation to fire. The turbine spun with it, a high shriek could be heard as metal ground against metal but the cannon held and soon it was spinning fast enough to provide electricity.
Outside, Robin smiled as the outside light flickered on, the mutant caterpillars seemed to scream in pain and retreat from the light.
"I guess we know why he wanted to destroy this place." He muttered
"Aww, man, this is gross!" Beast Boy cried as he tried to wipe mucus from his fur. "I need a shower."
"Looks like Strength did it though." Robin said. "Come on." He said as the Titans gathered around him, entering the building. He lead them through the rubble and broken steel until they found Cyborg, Raven and Strength.
Robin raised an eyebrow as he looked at Strength standing on Cyborg's shoulders.
Rock squeezed through the gap between Cyborg and the outside of the tank and waved at Strength, when she caught the Otherself's attention she signed something with her hands.
"What? No! I said Yuu did, not me!" Strength cried.
"What did she say?" Cyborg asked, forgetting what he was doing and looking up.
His face turned bright red.
"Ahh! What did I tell you?" Strength shouted, slapping him with her tail.
"Sorry." Cyborg said, embarrassed.
"Black Rock Shooter!" Strength yelled after Rock as she left. "You're going to pay for that!"
"What was all that about? Beast Boy asked.
Rock shook her head.
"Alright, I'll contact the company that owns this place and let them know they can start on repairs." Robin sighed.
Mato giggled inside Rock.
I told you it would be funny! She said.
You are a bad influence Mato. Rock sighed.
It was for science, Black Rock Shooter. Mato replied.
