PREVIOUSLY…

Suki groaned as another mabeast tore into his arm. He quickly stabbed into its neck, it fell limply. Dead.

He quickly turned to see Rem carrying the children back to the village. Suki sighed a breath of relief. He turned back to the gathering back of mabeasts. He grinned sharply.

"Well, let's tango first and then we'll see if I can make fur coats out of you."

The mabeasts all simultaneously converged on him. He dodged backwards, quickly slashing at any that came too close. He sprinted away, the mabeasts hot on his tail. He grinned as he saw the bright light ahead.

He arrived at a clearing in the forest. The mabeasts arrived shortly after, growling and tensed, ready to pounce. Suki grinned as he spun his hunting knives. Some of his wounds already disappearing.

"Now, let's boogie."

PRESENT…

Rem panted tiredly as she got to the village's gate. Multiple adults were standing by aimlessly then they noticed her. They rushed towards her, or more accurately to the children she was carrying.

She quickly nodded as she put them down and started to rush towards the mansion. They would not last long if she stood idly by. The children needed Lady Beatrice. Then she heard gasps resounding throughout the crowd.

"What's happening to them?"

Rem turned to see quite a sight. The curses on the children were getting removed! She gasped slightly before realizing exactly why. She turned to the forest, she could faintly feel the hard thumps and the sound of tree breaking in the distance.

She brought out her morningstar before crossing the broken barrier into the forest. Hopefully, she wasn't too late.

Suki chuckled as he sat on top of a pile of mabeast corpses that lay on the ground. All wounds no longer in sight.

He stared out at the darkness, spinning his hunting knife on his hand. Normally, one couldn't see into the darkness, but he didn't need to.

"You know? If you're trying to play dead, you're not doing a very good job."

Something dashed at him. An alpha ulgarm, that resembled more of a wolf on steroids than an enhanced dog. He laughed as he dashed backwards, careful to avoid the dangerous swipes of its claws and its attempted bites.

"You're a big doggy, aren't you!?"

He punched it straight on its forehead, it stopped its rampage, shaking its head vigorously. He spun his knives as he ran forward.

"Maybe if you were a bit cuter, I'd feel sorry!"

He slammed both of his hunting knives into its eyes. It backed away immediately and howled in pain. He slowly put his knives down as the mabeast ran around in pain, destroying trees.

"All doggies go to Heaven, so don't worry. You're gonna see big G pretty soon!"

He quickly jumped on its back. The mabeast howled as it jumped back and forth, desperately trying to get him off. Suki stared sadly at the beast, whimpering in pain now. He grabbed onto its head.

"Forgive me."

He twisted it and broke it off. The head rolled slowly down the forest floor. He sighed as the body fell.

"Another one bites the dust, so that makes at least ca-nine deaths! Eh? Eh?"

He pouted as he looked around. He sighed as he ventured deeper into the forest.

"No people to tell bad jokes to. Me big sad."

He heard a rustle in the bushes, he quickly picked up his hunting knives.

"Pro tip, if you're trying to hide, keep your bloodlust under control."

He heard a chuckle as the footsteps became apparent.

"Oh my? Was I that noticeable? Not that many can actually see it."

Black clothes, black hair, and twin kukris rested on her belt. Suki grinned as she came forward.

"Back for a rematch then?"

She licked her lips then respectfully curtsied to him. She smiled at him, her eyes full of malice.

"O Knight of Envy, will you give me the pleasure of taking your bowels?"

Beatrice sighed as she leaned back onto her chair, Suki had disappeared during the night and Rem had come after, the worrying factor was that neither had returned. Personally, she wasn't really worried about the maid, but if Suki had not returned yet. THAT was worrying. Had he encountered something in the forest? Something he could not defeat?

She scoffed and dismissed the thoughts. Suki was an idiot, but he was a strong idiot. There wasn't many that could actually harm him let alone, kill him. She could hear movement beside her.

"You're worried about Suki too?"

He chuckled lazily.

"Have more faith, Betty! Suki will pull through, he always does."

She chuckled as she opened her book, once more.

"He always does, doesn't he?"

Puck flew close to her and settled softly on her head. Beatrice sighed happily, there truly was no experience like Puck's fur!

Elsa grit her teeth as Suki continuously slashed at her. She dodged constantly. He wasn't giving her any time to rest at all. Should she falter, it would cost her life.

She planted her feet firmly on the trees, and dashed forward at Suki. He deflected her attack, throwing her to the ground then backing away.

"You're quite fast, for your size. But you aren't very strong, are you? That's what the knives are for, am I right?"

Elsa chuckled as she slowed her jump, clapping.

"Not only strong, you are also quite perceptive, Knight of Envy."

Suki stretched quickly as Elsa circled him, licking her lips. What was he planning? Was he to draw her under a false pretense of weakness? Or was it worse?

"Now that Reinhard isn't here, we can finally finish our dance."

She readied her blade, Suki tensed slightly.

Elsa threw her first kukri towards him which flew straight into his shoulder then she backed away, second kukri in hand. He pulled the kukri out easily and analyzed the blade.

"You know? Your knife is pretty well made, I have GOT to know where you got it from."

Elsa chuckled as Suki pocketed the kukri, gently stretching his arm. She twirled her knife and dashed towards him.

"You really think you should be making small talk? You ARE going to die."

Suki chuckled as he dodged upwards and stood at the top of the tree. He sighed.

"What is with everybody this week? Assuming I'm gonna die, I don't have cancer, jeez!"

Elsa dashed towards him, licking her lips. She slashed at him in an upwards arc. He quickly jumped backwards onto another tree. Elsa laughed amused.

"Will you keep jumping away every time I attack?"

Suki shrugged as he stared out at the horizon. He turned to the dark assassin.

"Y'know? You can see everything up here! The village, the dead mabeasts, oh and look! There's Rem coming to the forest—"

He coughed before turning to face Elsa with a nervous grin.

"Now, I have to end this really early, if it's not one thing it's another, I swear."

He jumped off the tree, cracking his knuckles. Elsa stepped back cautiously. Her hands fiddling with the last of her kukri. He grinned.

"Now, let's see what you're made of."

Rem walked carefully in the dark forest, careful to listen to any sound that would possibly mean an attacker, but so far it seemed as if she was alone here.

Then she felt a small tremor in the ground, Rem's eyes widened as she stared forward. Birds flew out of trees, the trees had shaken slightly and the leaves were falling quickly.

She gulped before jogging to her destination, it would be very unfortunate should Suki die. It would be the biggest blot on her life, a man who bested her, dies to mabeasts. She stopped right in front of the deeper part of the forest.

Rem exhaled softly before staring warily at the darkness ahead of them. Rem took a deep breath and lightly swung her Morningstar around before continuing forward.

"So far, it seems as if there isn't anything here."

Rem continued forward, she had stored the mornigstar now, seeing no need for it. Then she heard it, the sound was as if someone had ripped thousands of paper by hand simultaneously. Rem quickly took out her Morningstar once more. It briefly glowed as she ventured forward.

Her breathing was getting quicker as they got deeper and deeper. The smell of blood was highly prominent now, it was completely shadowing any other smell. Rem's grip on the weapon tightened ever so slightly.

She came across a small stack of ulgarm corpses scattered around the area. Their bodies were almost woundless, save for the clean decapitations of their heads, the half of their body or just a small slit right on their foreheads.

Rem sighed before nodding and continuing once more.

The forest seemed to get darker and the trees began to look as if they were reaching for her. She gulped nervously. Then they reached the clearing, her eyes widened. Standing in a field of corpses, trees broken left and right. He stood there, slashes ridden all over his body. He exhaled and turned around.

"Hey! I was wondering when you were gonna get here!"

Rem raised an eyebrow at his condition, he seemed to be alright. A few slashes were wrought all over his body. A few on his torso, some on his arms, and a long one crossing from his shoulder to his hip. She sighed in relief, despite his condition, he seemed to feel okay.

"You don't see to be as injured as last time."

Suki chuckled as he gestured over to the mabeast corpses, they were littered all over the field. A giant one was fallen by the edge of the clearing.

"A huge gathering of ulgarms were over here, to make matters worse the children were playing with one of the alpha ones. Got bit and cursed."

Rem stared at him in disbelief before sighing and hiding the Morningstar away.

"At least you weren't permanently hurt."

Suki chuckled as he leaned against the trees. He stared at the darkness ahead in the forest.

"At least. Well, let's get back! It's really dark and I don't think your sister would very much appreciate you being outside with me for too long."

Rem lightly chuckled as she faced Suki.

"Yes, she probably wouldn't."

Rem walked ahead, taking the lead. Suki walked beside her, silently.

Suki trudged back to mansion, his hands tucked in his pockets. Rem seemed to have something on her mind, so he decided to stay silent beside her. He chuckled as he pulled out a black kukri from his jacket. He stared at it for a bit before spinning it on his hands, chuckling.

"Well, now THAT was a fun dance."

He turned to Rem.

"So, I guess now's a good time as any. Tell me Rem, why does your sister seem to be, hmm, less efficient than you are?"

Rem turned to him as he walked beside her.

"I….do not feel comfortable talking about it."

Suki grinned softly before turning to look ahead, waving it off dismissively.

"That's fine."

"Good! Now, stick your arms out and shout 'Victory!'"

The children jumped and stuck their hands out and screamed out.

"Victory!"

"Victory!"

"Vagina!"

Suki turned his head to the children, eyes wide. He narrowed his eyes at them.

"Okay, who said that?"

Lucas raised an eyebrow as he stared at Suki.

"Who said what?"

Suki glared at the, before sighing. He put his jacket back on as he walked back.

"Yeah, I'm not playing this game. You guys do you."

They rushed to him, clutching at his suit jacket and pants.

"Noooo! Suki, don't leave us! We still want to play!"

"Come on Suki! Stay here!"

Suki chuckled as he shook them off, picking them off of his pants.

"Yeah, I'm gonna have to put a hard pass on that. In the meantime, why don't you guys look at that awesome view!"

The children stupidly turned.

"Wher-"

Suki was gone in seconds.

Emilia walked along with the suited man as he laughed cheerfully.

"They are definitely not good kids, whatever you think they are? They're about negative ten below your expectations."

Emilia chuckled as Suki stared back at the village.

"They may be bad kids, but they have spirit. I'll give them that."

Emilia turned to face Suki, who seemed to be twiddling with a black curved knife.

"Where'd you get that?"

Suki stared it then at her. He chuckled mischievously.

"Stole it off of an assassin, pretty cool, yeah?"

Emilia smiled nervously.

"I guess so? By the way, how DID you get so banged up?"

Suki shrugged as he stuck his hands into his pockets.

"Big doggo, try to kill me. Me sad kill doggo. End of story."

Emilia frowned confused. She stared at Suki.

"I did not get any of that."

Suki waved it off dismissively.

"No need to fuss over the small details. Point is, I'm awesome. Bingo bango."

He stared ahead then he frowned and turned to face Emilia.

"Hey, uh, not to alarm you, but there's a fancy looking chariot there in the mansion."

She stared at what Suki gestured to. She nodded before making a beeline towards it.

"Let's see what they want."

As they neared the carriage, they could see a white haired old man, standing by. He noticed Emilia then quickly bowed,

"Please forgive me for parking outside your mansion."

Suki turned to Emilia, with a curious expression.

"An emissary?"

Ram nodded as she stood by the doorway. Suki leaned against the wall, attempting to listen on whatever was going on inside.

"An emissary arrived from the capital. Lord Roswaal is attending to them now. Miss Emilia please join him."

Emilia tilted her head in confusion.

"But why would an emissary from the Capital be here?"

Ram gestured towards Emilia.

"I believe it concerns the Royal Selection."

Emilia grimaced before sighing and pinching the bridge of her nose.

"I guess it really is important then."

Suki came forward with an excited expression.

"Can I come?! Can I come?! I wanna see Roswaal when he's 'clowning' around! Eh? Eh?"

Emilia smiled apologetically as she held his hands.

"Sorry, Suki. But this is a really important discussion and I can't have you insulting Roswaal in front of them."

Suki visibly deflated as he stood outside while Emilia was being led in by Rem. Ram stood outside before coughing.

"Ha."

He glared at the maid before leaning against the window, he caught eye of the chariot outside. He grinned.

"The Sword Demon, huh?"
