Gamelover41592: She really did a good job
Omni Spectator (Guest): Who said that things like the Battle Tree won't be in the main story? After all, the journey takes less then a year and they need to be a lot older then eleven and fourteen.
Alright, so time to both introduce the first elements of the Ultra Games and have our Grand Trial.
Once Kitty and Ilima left Verdant Cavern, they saw Emma and Kukui standing by a now opened Trial gate. Kukui waved them over.
"There's my other future champion!" Kukui cheered as Kitty ran over and gave him a hug. "Oooh, looking at the expression on Ilima's face, I'd say you cleared your first Trial too, yeah?"
"You bet I did!" Kitty declared, prompting Emma to sling an arm around her.
"That's my sister!" Emma said proudly. "And now we can use our own Z-Moves!"
"Remember girls, you can only use one Z-Move per battle, since it wears both you and your Pokémon down," Kukui reminded them.
"Oh, so that's why you've been looking so ragged, Professor?" Ilima asked.
"No!" Kukui replied. "It's like I was hit with Amnesia! I forgot that I lost Lillie somewhere on Route 3!"
"WHAT?!" Emma and Kitty both exclaimed. Lillie getting lost was not an ideal situation!
"Kitty, c'mon! We have to go find her!" Emma declared as she rushed off.
"Right behind you, Em!" Kitty replied as she chased after her sister.
After doing some searching (and Kitty having to drag Emma away from a Pokémon den she really wanted to study), Kitty and Emma found themselves near the middle of the route.
"Okay, so she's not a trainer, so she shouldn't have gone far, right?" Emma rationalized.
"Totally!" Kitty agreed. "And I think the only place we haven't checked is Melemele Meadow!"
"Perfect! That's not too far from here!" Emma remembered. Sure enough, they found Lillie standing near a field of flowers.
"Nebby! Nebby, come back!" She called out.
"Lillie!" Kitty called to her as she and Emma walked over.
"Ah, Emma, Kitty...Nebby...it got out of my bag again…" Lillie explained. Emma and Kitty looked into the field and saw Nebby about to enter the Seaward Cave. "But why would it want to go into that cave….? And right after it got into so much trouble on the bridge, too...what if a wild Pokémon attacks it? It doesn't have a move it can use to battle!"
"Just relax," Emma reassured her. "We'll catch it for you."
"Thank you…" Lillie said with a nod. Spraying a quick repel, the girls set after Nebby, who had already made it into the cave.
"Let's just hope it didn't get too far into the cave." Emma said once they got inside.
"Nope, doesn't look like it," Kitty declared as she pointed. Nebby was floating over to them.
"Pew!"
"Alright, let's get you back to Lil-" Emma began, only to pause. Kitty was about to ask why she stopped, only to get a good look at the two people walking over to them. Or at least, she thought they were people. It was an older man and a young girl. They were deathly pale and wearing strange gear that covered their whole body. How they were not sweating to death was far beyond Kitty's understanding.
"Phew...running around like this sure is tiring!" The girl declared. "Whoa! So the people of Alola meet in places like this, too, uh?" She then attempted the Alolan greeting, but did it far too stiffly. The man then took notice of Emma and Kitty.
"Calm yourself, Zossie." The man said stoically. "There is only one thing we are here to confirm. We must find someone strong enough to protect the Blinging One. Let us see if you might be the one!"
"Wait, what!?" Emma exclaimed. Before she could protest, Emma found herself thrust into a battle with the man. He pulled out a strange looking Pokéball with a Furfrou inside. Emma opted for her new Torracat. The battle ended rather quickly as this strange man seemed to have no idea what exactly Pokémon battling entailed, giving Emma an easy win.
"I see...so that is a Pokémon battle...we had tried to investigate what it meant to battle with Pokémon, but it is quite different when you do it yourself," The man noted. "At least it seems that the Pokéball we tried to create has worked properly to capture us a Pokémon here in Alola. And I have seen for myself how strong you are, young Alolan trainer."
"So, Dulse, what're we gonna do?" Zossie asked her partner.
"Trainers, you should know that this one here warps away if it is threatened in any way...and the holes that are being torn open as a result invite dangerous beings into this world." Dulse explained
"HUH?!"
"But perhaps things will be alright as long as there are trainers like you in Alola…" Dulse continued.
"What about that other girl, though?" Zossie asked. Emma and Kitty looked at each other. Did he mean Lillie?
"That girl should have nothing to do with our investigations, nor this Pokémon of hers...as long as no one is foolish enough to open a path that could lead here from Megalo Tower. Let us carry on, Zossie." With that, they then walked off, leaving Emma and Kitty with more questions then answers.
"...What the heck was that?!" Kitty finally said.
"I have no idea…" Emma trailed off. They had cornered her after she completed her Trial. "I actually saw them when I was doing my Trial. Didn't get any more answers then just now."
"What is with us and finding weirdos during our Trials!?" Kitty questioned. "I had to fight the Team Skull grunts who you and Captain Ilima beat. Said they wanted revenge for losing to you."
"...Look, we can talk about this later. I think we should get moving before Nebby runs off again," Emma finally said after taking in everything her sister had said. Kitty just nodded, scooped up Nebby and the girls headed back outside.
"Oh, you!" Lillie chastised when she saw Nebby come back with Emma and Kitty.
"Pew?"
"Thank you, girls," Lillie said. "And I should thank Torracat and the rest of your Pokémon, too. Here, let me at least do this…" She quickly healed the girls' Pokémon. "You know, I read something interesting in a book once...it seems that the Pokémon called Oricorio can change its appearance by feeding on the nectar from different types of flowers. It's not actually evolving but undergoing a so-called 'form change'. Isn't that interesting?"
"It is, actually," Emma agreed. "I've always wondered how Oricorio changed based just on the nectar!"
"Nerds," Kitty mocked. Emma just shoved her.
"Pew!"
"Back into the bag, please, Nebby," Lillie requested. "I know there aren't many people around to see you here, but that's hardly an excuse! And I guess we should be going now...the professor will probably be worried after the way we just disappeared on him…"
"Here, let us walk you back," Emma offered as they headed outside.
"He-e-ey, Emma and Kitty!" Hau greeted as he stopped the girls outside of the meadow. "Oh! And Lillie's with you, too!"
"What are you up too, Hau?" Lillie asked.
"Just finished up my Trial!" Hau declared before turning to Emma. "Hey Emma, I wanna see if I really learned from my Trial! Let me battle you!"
"Alright, fine," Emma agreed as she got ready for battle. "Kitty, could you take Lillie back to dad?"
"You got it, Em!" Kitty said.
"Good luck, you two…" Lillie said nervously as she allowed Kitty to lead her away. Thankfully, Kukui wasn't far.
"Knew I could count on you, Kit!" Kukui said with a laugh. "Where's your sister?"
"Hau challenged her to a battle," Kitty explained quickly. Kukui just nodded.
"That boy loves battling more then anything, yeah?" Kukui asked.
"Yep!" Kitty agreed."But that's why I love him!" When Kukui gave her a look, Kitty backtracked. "No! Not like that!"
"Whatever you say," Kukui said with a smug grin.
"Hey look! It's Emma and Hau!" Kitty practically screamed in an attempt to change the subject. "Who won?"
"Emma totally got me!" Hau said, still sounding happy even though he lost. "Man, you guys are so good at battling!"
"Hala's probably rubbing his hands together in glee right about now, oh yeah!" Kukui exclaimed.
"What do you mean?" Lillie asked.
"It's part of the Island Trials," Emma began to explain. "Once a trainer defeats all the captains on a select island, they face the Island Kahuna for the right to continue to the next island, in what we call the Grand Trial."
"For someone like me who's researching Pokémon moves, nothing could be better than the chance to see some fierce Pokémon battles! Woo!" Kukui cheered.
"I don't know about fierce…" Emma trailed off. She should have known better then to stop her dad when he was on a roll.
"I'll be the judge of that!" Kukui declared. "Come on! Back to Iki Town! Catch that Tailwind and blast through Route 3!"
Emma took a deep breath. She had never been so nervous before! And she handled Ilima's Trial with no problem! But she could do this! She glanced at her Pokéballs. Torracat and Grubbin had proved to be great partners. They would help her win this! With another deep breath, she stepped onto the stage. Hala walked onto the stage from the other side. Kitty, Hau, Lillie and Kukui were all standing in the crowd.
"Ho! I have been expecting you. Allow me to properly greet the young adventurers embarking on their island challenge." Hala began. "I know you already know this, but I am Hala, the kahuna of Melemele island. Now...shall we begin?"
"Yes, let's begin," Emma said after taking another breath.
"Well, Emma, you and your sister have been entrusted with the Sparkling Stone by Tapu Koko!" Hala said. "Now show me you and your team's full power! Old Hala here will be going all out! Let the Grand Trial begin!" With that, he sent out his first Pokémon, a Machop.
"Torracat go!" Emma ordered as she tossed the Pokéball forward. Torracat came out with a cry. "Alright, Fire Fang!" The attack landed perfectly, nearly knocking Machop out.
"Machop, Revenge!" Hala ordered his own Pokémon.
"Torracat, dodge and use Scratch to finish it off!" Emma called out at the same time. The two Pokémon rushed at each other, attempting to knock out the other. Both attacks landed, but Torracat was able to stay standing.
"Well done!" Hala commended as he returned Machop to it's Pokéball. "But let's see how you handle my Makuhita!" He then tossed said Pokémon out.
"Torracat, Flame Charge!" Emma cried, not giving Kahuna a chance to retaliate. Torracat did what it was told, slamming into Makuhita with impressive force, knocking it out before it even had a chance to attack.
"Impressive," Hala noted. "But I have one last trick up my sleeve. He then sent out his final Pokémon, a Crabrawler and began his own Z-Move dance. "Crabrawler, unleash the power of your Z-Power! Z-Move, All-Out Pummeling!"
"Crap…" Emma knew that Z-Moves were almost impossible to dodge and there was no way that Torracat could tank the damage. Sure enough, the poor cat was completely knocked out by the attack. Emma merely returned him to his Pokéball and sent out Grubbin. She swallowed nervously. She knew that Bug beat Fighting, but Grubbin was still kinda weak. But she could do this! She wouldn't let Grubbin down! "Okay, Grubbin! Use Bug Bite!"
"Grub!" Grubbin charged forward, only for it to suddenly start glowing. As the attack landed, Grubbin began to change. Everyone gasped.
"Bzzzzrt! Charjabug, the Battery Pokémon. Its stout shell provides excellent defense from attacks. It uses electricity on persistent opponents" Her Rotom-Dex blurted out. Emma smiled. It seemed like her Pokémon evolved right when they needed them too.
"Alright then!" Emma said with renewed energy. "Charjabug, THUNDERBOLT!"
"Charja….BUUUUUUUUUGGGGGGG!" Charjabug tilted it's head towards the sky, causing the powerful attack to rain down and knock out Crabrawler. The gathered crowd went wild.
"Yes!" Emma cried as she rushed over, pulling her Pokémon into a hug. "You and Torracat did such a good job!"
"Charja…"
"...Hmmph," Was all Hala said. Emma looked at him. He continued. "The results are no surprise to me. What a fine trainer...and what fine Pokémon, too!"
"Tapu Ko-ko-ko!"
"Ho! And our mighty Tapu Koko agrees!" Hala said with a smile. "Hmmph! Perhaps Tapu Koko is hoping that a day come when you will grow strong enough to battle it as well...Accept this Z-Crystal!" Hala then handed Emma a Fightinium Z.
"Thank you, sir," Emma said with a nod. Hala then began to show her the movements for the crystal.
"Now then, Emma. With this victory, you have cleared all of the Trials of Melemele Island, the first of Alola's islands!" Hala declared. "The Melemele stamp is proof of your accomplishment. The moon in the daytime...the sun at night...now to see if you can pour your heart into something that cannot be seen but is very much real. As you continue on your Island Challenge, consider what makes up the people and Pokémon that you meet: both what you can see and what you cannot. You will surely meet Tapu Koko again someday."
"Thank you for the advice," Emma said as she and Hala shook hands. As they began to step off the stage, a Tauros ran over to the group.
"Whoa there, Tauros!" Hala exclaimed as he attempted to calm it down. "I've got an idea! How about I set it up so that you kids can ride my Tauros whenever you'd like? No reason why he shouldn't get to enjoy the Island Challenge, too!" He then handed both Emma and Kitty Ride Pagers.
"I'm a Tauros ridin' girl!" Kitty exclaimed as she used the pager to summon a Tauros, which she used to smash through some boulders nearby.
"This is not going to end well," Emma snarked.
"Let your sister have some fun, yeah?" Kukui requested as he slung an arm around his daughter. Emma rolled her eyes, but smiled all the same. Kitty could beat Hala later.
Zossie is a bean that deserves protection! So, yeah, I'm bringing in the Ultra Recon Squad which means that, yes, Necrozma is getting its role from the Ultra Games. And I have a plan for the battle with [NAME REDACTED DUE TO SPOILERS] and I think you're all gonna like it. But now...I need your help again. See, I want to have Emma and Kitty both use a Lycanroc, but I don't really know who would use Dusk Form vs Dawn Form. So, what do you guys think? Who would use what? Anyways, next time, we head for Akala Island! FireFlamerx9z, out!
