Chapter 7: Love Always Comes As A Surprise
After Lapis made it to Homeworld, reunited with Steven and Peridot, and now it's time for her to face her biggest challenge yet… admitting her love for Steven.
Beep-beep-beep-beep…
Upon waking to his alarm, Steven got up and ready for another day in Homeworld. He got dressed, had breakfast, and started to start his day. Today is just for him and Lapis, hang out like they're used too, and maybe admit their respective feelings for each other…
Anyway, the diamond hybrid walked towards Lapis and Peridot's shared room, knocked on the door, and the one opening the door was none other than Lapis.
Steven: Hey, Lapis…
Lapis: Hey, Steven…
Steven: Would you like to go out with me?
Lapis: (giggles) Sure.
Before leaving, the ocean gem looked towards her room-mate, who gave a nod of approval, and both the water witch and the hybrid left to enjoy their day.

They first took a walk around the main city, so Lapis can see the changes that transpired.

The two caught up with Spinel, who just had a bit of a family reunion, and they couldn't be happier for their friend.

They went down to the abandoned kindergarten, as one of the changes was to integrate off-colors to normal homeworld society, but it fell through, so Steven proposed a different plan. As they entered the village, walking through the stands manned by deformed gems, the hybrid saw something that caught his eye. He asked the stand's owner if he could have it, while the owner didn't mind him having it, and soon he caught up with Lapis. The two soon left the kindergarten.
Time, well it passes by so fast

They soon visited Bismuth, who made her a sword. Just in case, if she needs to fight where there isn't any water.

The two were hanging out in the barn, which was recently moved to the garden with some help from Prehnite and her duplicates.
Steven: Lapis, can I tell you something?
Lapis: Yeah, Steven?
Steven: I love you.
Lapis: I love you too.
Steven: While I was on Earth, I saw… (sighs)
Lapis: It's okay if you don't want to tell me…
Steven: No, I'll tell you. I saw the gems...
The Water Witch covered her mouth in surprise, the same gems, that what she had heard from Jade and Topaz, caused him so much grief. She then hugged her love in comfort.
Lapis: Maybe it's time to stop running.
Steven: What do you mean?
Lapis: I've spent so much time running from the past, that I almost forgot about you.
Lapis' right, he had been running from his past, that he almost forgot his goal was. The diamond hybrid then puts on a look of determination.
Steven: You're right. It's time to stop running.
The two went back to the palace, and to their respective rooms. They wish each other goodnight.
The next day, both Steven and Lapis, along with everybody were in the throne room. They've announced that they're a couple now, and reception was positive.
Topaz: (whistles) Way to go!!!
Everyone was happy for them, especially Peridot. In this moment of celebration, Jade had the limbless gem in her arms, twirled around, and pulled him into a hug; forming Prehnite.
Prehnite: (screams) Oí! Not being fused for so long… will give you such a crick in the neck!!! Hang on a second! (fixes her 'neck')
But the genie-like fusion's appearance was surprising to say the least…
Prehnite: Aw, crap. (chuckles nervously) Sorry about that… (unfuses)
Besides that, everyone went about their day, with Steven and his training, Lapis recently took up sword fighting lessons, so she can use her sword better. Later, in his room, Steven was having a conversation with his dad over the communicator, and when he mentioned his relationship with Lapis, he was both ecstatic and supportive of his son and future daughter-in-law.
Greg: (chuckles over communicator) I knew you loved her… and I'm happy for you.
Steven: Thanks, Dad.
Someone started to knock on the door.
Steven: Dad, I'm going to hang up now.
Greg: Okay, son.
Steven ended the call, went towards the door, opened the door, and the knocker, being Lapis.
Steven: Hi…
Lapis: Hey…
The two went out towards the balcony, seeing the city's skyline.
Lapis: I was thinking about changing my outfit.
Steven: Really… to what?
Lapis: I was thinking pants, like those soft ones, and a star, because you've made such an impact on my life.
Steven: Glad to see that I've made such an impression… (chuckles)
The couple laughed at some bad and cheesy jokes, and there's nothing that would have ruined this moment. Lapis went back to her room, bid each other goodnight, and waited for another day.
