Author's Note: Hi everyone! I'm back with another chapter! As always, please leave a review for this story and don't be shy to message me on here! I promise I will try my best to live up to everyone's expectations and try to do the show justice as much as possible. I do have plenty more chapters to write, so please stick around! They will revolve around canon events from season 5 through season 6.
Disclaimer: Once again, I do not own any canon characters, scenes, or ideas from The Nanny. CC's baby is mine tho.
"Where was that picture from anyway?"
"When I went to Oxford, a couple of old roommates and I had fun with some Polaroid cameras. We decided to do a mock photoshoot for no reason, and these were my favorites that came out of it."
CC spent the past hour and a half showing her daughter her photo albums that were on her shelves to help her understand her history. She felt genuinely surprised and grateful that Sabrina didn't react differently upon their sudden realization. With what she had done to her, she expected her baby to be angry with her and despise her, but Sabrina was the complete opposite: eager to learn about, care for, and love her mother. CC flipped to another page in her photo album as Sabrina propped her chin up against her shoulder.
The teenager pointed at another picture with two other people standing next to CC. "Who are they?" Sabrina asked her curiously.
"My siblings. This is your Uncle Noel. We were both under our father's custody after he and my mother divorced. Noel and I are very close, but it was always hard to keep in touch with him. When he was 10, he was sent off to boarding school and would only come home on certain days of the year. Now, he's an Ivy League professor, so you can imagine how hectic his schedule is," CC said explaining the details about her brother. Sabrina was fascinated by all of this. She couldn't believe she had an actual family that were still alive. Hopefully one day, she would get to meet them.
"And her?" The girl asked pointing to the other woman in the picture next to CC. It seemed as if the other woman was distant from the two, so she was curious as to why.
"That's your Aunt DD. Unlike my brother, we don't necessarily have the best relationship. Mummy took custody of her when she was a baby. I'm not surprised she grew up to be like that tramp, what with all the nannies that neglected her and how she started hopping in bed with every man that had a pulse, limbs, and oxygen," CC scoffed and rolled her eyes thinking about her baby sister and her horrid mother.
Sabrina was curious as to why CC was talking about them like that, but she couldn't help but quip, "So I'm assuming she steered clear of helium-breathing amputees?" They both started to laugh at her little joke that she made.
"Oh my god, you really are mine," CC chuckled and moved to hold onto the girl's hand. Her fingers intertwined with her daughter's lovingly as she looked down at them. Her hands were just as soft as she remembered from when Sabrina was born. She sighed contently and looked down at their hands together. She was still in complete awe and shock that this actually happened.
After a brief pause, Sabrina looked down at the large binder that was next to the pile of photo albums that the two had been looking at all night. That hadn't been opened yet, so she was curious as to what significance that binder held. "What's that?" she asked her mother motioning to the binder.
CC looked over at the direction of her dossier and she picked it up setting it on the coffee table. "This, my little witch, is a dossier that I put together almost three years ago. It has everything you need to know about me in there: where I went to prep school, where I grew up, my debutante days, my time in Oxford-" she turned over to her daughter who was looking at her like she was completely nuts. "What?"
Sabrina sat there agape at what her mother just called her. She knew she was trying her hardest to be affectionate towards her, but she had never heard anybody call her that before. "Little witch? Really, Mom?" she asked slightly disgusted. She sighed and then shook her head. "You clearly are not the type to deal with children or teenagers at all," she responded with a chuckle. She then brushed it off and added, "Don't worry. You'll catch on... but next time, stick to something a little bit more vague like honey or sweetie."
"Right," CC nodded her head. She wasn't good at this mom thing yet, but she had an intelligent daughter who was willing to teach her everything there was to know about motherhood.
"Anyway.." Sabrina said to break the ice and not cause any awkward tension between the two. She picked up the dossier and opened it to a random page. "Why did you make this in the first place?"
"Do you have time for this one?" CC asked her before Sabrina nodded her head eagerly. "Well, one time I ran into a potential investor on the way to Maxwell's house. At that time, I had no idea he was our investor.. he was just a scrummy little nutcase trying to weasel his way into stealing the last seat in the taxi cab," CC started off telling her story. "Obviously, I didn't let him get off so easily, so I kneed him in the crotch and whacked his flat bald head with my umbrella. You can guess who got the seat after that.." she chuckled at the memory of that investor.
"Definitely not the street rat," the teenager responded wanting to hear more of the story.
"Never underestimate what your mama can do, baby." CC then continued her story, "I got to Maxwell's about five minutes before Mr. Trash Bin arrived. When he did, apparently he talked about how he was assaulted nearby the cab, but I was in the guest bathroom at the time fixing up my hair and makeup and I didn't end up hearing him. Let's just say, everyone was on board with the idea of Nanny Fine impersonating me for the night so we could try to win over a million dollars for our next production."
"Whoa! Hold on," Sabrina stopped her trying so hard not to laugh. "Nanny Fine? Impersonating you?" she ended up laughing hard. "You - you're kidding right?" CC stayed silent pursing her lips together. Sabrina noticed that her mother didn't end up laughing with her, so she stopped and widened her eyes. "Oh my god, you're not joking."
"I prepared this within eight hours so Nanny Fine could at least take some time to learn more about me, but she never used it," CC said with a heavy sigh. "At that time, I wasted my entire day writing my whole life story for that disgruntled nut to learn, but it was never put to good use." She then dismissed her story looking back at her daughter. "Who knew almost three years later it would finally have some purpose?"
Sabrina smiled softly and said, "Well I can't wait to learn everything about you! In fact, I'll start first thing tomorrow morning!" She picked up the binder, but CC placed her hand on it pushing it away from the girl's eyes.
"Oh no no no, wait a minute," CC said watching Sabrina's focus go back to her. "Have you read your script within the past few days?" The girl nodded her head. "Did you learn some lines?" She nodded her head again, in which CC responded with shrugging her shoulders. "Alright. Knock yourself out then."
The young girl put the dossier aside on her side of the couch so she could remember to read it tomorrow. She was so excited to learn everything about her mother and family history. After a moment of silence together, Sabrina spoke up. "I still can't believe it," she said softly. "I've been dreaming about this moment my whole life. This is better than what I ever imagined."
CC smiled softly and reached over to hold her daughter close and grab ahold of the girl's hand. She held Sabrina's hand close to her chest lovingly. "I'm surprised you think that way.." CC said to her with a hint of doubt. "Earlier you said that you knew it was me... how could you have possibly known?"
Sabrina swallowed and shyly looked away. "This is gonna sound so stupid.." she started to respond.
"Honey, you're my daughter. You're smart.. just like me. Nothing you could ever say would sound stupid to me," CC reassured her.
Sabrina rolled her eyes and sighed. "Okay fine. But if I say anything that does sound stupid, just be blatantly honest with me about it," she responded.
The older woman shrugged. "I can do that," she said to her.
Sabrina snuggled closer to her mother and slowly felt her eyes droop. She did have to stay awake for this though. She couldn't afford to miss another moment. "When we first shook hands at Mr. Sheffield's house, I saw my entire life flash before my eyes. I had this crazy flashback where I saw you put on my locket and cry for me.." She stopped talking wanting to cry again, but she wanted to stay strong. Instead, she sighed heavily and continued, "That's the earliest memory of my life that I have and it was just so clear.. I didn't know how to function."
CC heard the whole thing but ended up snickering which lead to laughter. "That sounds really sweet, but seriously, a flashback? That sounds like a crock load of shit." Hey, she was being honest like she promised.
"Gee. Thanks.." the younger Babcock mumbled as she let go of her hand.
"Hey, you told me to be blatantly honest, and I was!"
"I did.. now I wanna take it back," Sabrina frowned. That moment meant a lot to her, and she wished her mother hadn't dissed what happened. But she too was just like her. She had her moments where she dissed others.
CC looked over at the clock next to her. It was getting late, and she had to work in the morning. "We should probably head to bed soon. I have to be at Maxwell's by 9 to discuss another production," CC said as she stood up and straightened out her outfit. Sabrina followed suit and did the same thing.
"And I have to go back to rehearsals tomorrow," Sabrina muttered as she sighed and walked towards the guest room. Before she opened the door to it, she stopped her tracks and turned to her mother, smiling back at her. "Goodnight, Mom. I love you." With those words, she walked into the guest room and closed the door behind her leaving CC standing in the middle of her living room dumbfounded.
Did... did she just say that she... loved me? CC thought to herself. All of a sudden, a huge wave of guilt rushed over the Broadway producer followed by a pang in her chest. She felt like her heart sank deep into her stomach and took a huge blow to her dignity. Maybe she shouldn't have doubted her daughter like that. After clearly insulting her, Sabrina still told her that she loved her. CC was shaking. Her first couple hours of true motherhood were already stressful. She didn't know how to take on this responsibility, even though she had been wishing for her baby to come back for years. Now that she was finally back, reality was starting to sink in. She took a moment to try and collect her thoughts as a couple of tears rolled down her cheeks. Her heart was breaking. She needed to get some rest so she could get the slight inconvenient event off of her mind.
CC eventually walked into her room and got ready for bed. She was still distraught by her daughter's kindness. She laid down on her bed and eventually started to sob quietly. How could this sweet girl take such harsh words from her then throw kindness right back? The age old phrase "kill them with kindness" was definitely true in this case. She buried her face in her pillow and muffled sobs came out of her as she thought about how she held Sabrina in her arms when she was born. She did remember those moments that her now teenage daughter was talking about. She knew that her daughter was asking for honesty, but the way she had responded to her made her feel guilty. CC felt like she had already failed as a mother to her years ago, but this was just topping it off. All of a sudden, she heard a knock at her door.
"Can I come in?" a familiar voice called out softly.
The blonde raised her head from the pillow and sniffled, trying to wipe some of her tears away, even though some of them stained her pillow already. She sat up on her bed and said, "Sure."
Sabrina opened the door to see CC distraught and sad. The young girl frowned at that sight. She hated to see her so upset and wanted to see if she could try to make her feel better. "Are you okay, Mom?" she asked as she walked over to her.
"I'm fine.. " CC responded to her daughter quietly. She laid down on her bed looking up at the ceiling, feeling another tear roll down her cheek. "Just go back to sleep."
It was clear that she was not feeling well, and Sabrina was determined to help cheer up her mother. She walked over to the other side of the bed and laid down next to her also looking up at the ceiling. She didn't make any eye contact for a moment, but then looked over at her noticing she was crying. She reached over to her and said, "It's okay. You can tell me anything."
This girl's level of trust astounded CC. Sure, it seemed as if they were already best friends before today. Now that they were on a more familial level, everything started to make sense as to why Sabrina admired her so much. She sighed and let Sabrina comfort her while she didn't move a muscle. "I don't know why you love me," she started out. "What did I ever do to deserve your love? You should be angry with me. Hate me. Loathe me. Detest me." She reached to wipe away tears from one of her eyes. "It doesn't make any sense... why? Why are you so good to me? Why do you love me.. despite what I've done to you?"
Seeing this as her chance to help cheer her up, Sabrina wrapped an arm around CC's and snuggled against the pillows. "You accepted me as your own the moment you found out," she started out. "Knowing how you are with other young people like me, I thought I was going to react differently too." She noticed CC finally budge a muscle and turn to face her wanting to know more. "You've been nothing but nice to me the minute I came to New York. When I had that disastrous day at the ball game, you showed concern for me.. you allowed me to move out and stay with you.. you wouldn't let Mr. Sheffield fire me from the play after I came back from the theater drunk. It's the little things that I've appreciated. It just shows your character and your heart."
CC was speechless. She allowed her daughter to pour out her little heart to her and couldn't find the right words to say back. Instead, she reached for her hand and slowly moved to grasp onto it as a way of thanking her for those kind words. She brought her daughter's hand to her lips placing a soft kiss on it. "Thanks, baby.." she whispered.
Sabrina smiled and watched as CC mirrored her expression. She looked like she was feeling better, but knew she needed to do a bit more work. "Mom.. have you ever heard of unconditional love?" she asked after a moment of silence passed between the two.
"Of course I have," the older woman responded. "I just always thought it was a myth."
"It's not. I can promise you that." Sabrina closed her eyes for a moment feeling very comfortable and content. "No matter what you say or do, nothing will make me love you any less. Rest assured."
All CC could do was shake her head in doubt. She truly didn't deserve any of this kindness from her, but she really wanted to accept it all. It was difficult for her to just reject all the sweet things her daughter was telling her. She chuckled and then said, "You know.. I don't get you. I've done nothing to help you throughout your life and yet here you are... treating me like some saint." Her smile fell as she bit her lip softly. "I'm not nice. I'm not perfect. I'm especially not a saint. Ask anybody else. I'm the furthest thing from one. In fact, I know for a fact that I don't deserve any ounce of kindness in my life for the shit I've done to others, especially you."
The younger girl's smile also fell hearing her mother slightly degrade herself. She was told not to say bad things about herself yet here was her only influence here doing it right in front of her. "We all go through a growth period at some point in our lives. Of course we grow physically, but there's a certain mental growth we're given to follow. Mine is recognizing my self worth.. yours is learning how to love," Sabrina said to reassure her.
"That's not the only thing I need to grow on," CC said quietly. "I've got all kinds of issues... weakness, codependency, addiction.." She sighed hating the fact that she was talking about her vulnerabilities. "Guess it just adds more to my plate for therapy."
"One of these days, you'll have a big breakthrough. I'm sure of it," the girl said to her squeezing her hand softly.
CC sighed heavily looking back up at the ceiling. Those words were quite bold coming from her daughter. She clearly didn't know her as well as she thought she did. However, CC was willing to allow her to understand what she was really like. "You're very confident about that.. I'm not sure if I agree with you."
"You may not agree with me now, but I'm sure you've got a strong side waiting to just pop out," Sabrina said cheerfully.
Wanting to dismiss the whole therapy conversation, CC directed her attention back to her daughter and asked, "When you experienced that memory, what else did you see?"
The girl's smile fell a little bit but she looked up at her mother seeing that she actually was interested in hearing more. "I... I didn't really see much else." There was a brief pause before she added, "But.. you said that you loved me. You told me you'd always love me. My early memory may have been a crock load of shit, but I never forgot." She felt like crying. She shouldn't have expected anything more from her.
"I'm sorry.." CC whispered and brought her arms around her daughter, closing her eyes contently. It was the best she could do to issue an apology. She was still learning. It was going to take her a while to get accustomed to being a true parent. "You're right. I did tell you that. I didn't forget it either," she added smoothing out Sabrina's hair softly. Through closed eyes, a couple of tears fell slowly. "If I had known you were going to be in an orphanage and foster care, I would've never given you away. I thought I was giving you a better childhood, but it turned out worse. I've failed you as a mother."
Sabrina shook her head and said, "My childhood wasn't the best, no. But... even though you missed out on those moments... you didn't really miss out on much." She shrugged her shoulders. "But my past is my past, and I've moved on. You still have a chance to redeem yourself as a mother. You're already doing a great job."
CC found it hard to believe she was doing a great job at it. She couldn't find the right words to respond to that. Instead, she kissed her daughter's forehead to thank her silently. After a moment, she said to herself, "Damn it. I missed dinner with Maxwell. Again." She mentally shot herself in the foot, but immediately brushed it off. "Oh well.. if he remembered, he would've at least called me to remind me."
The younger girl was curious about something that she wanted to know. "If he did call you though, would you have gone? Knowing what you know now?"
The Broadway producer looked down at her daughter and smiled shaking her head. "No," she whispered. "I wouldn't trade being with my baby for anything else. Not even any moment with Maxwell."
Sabrina smiled softly and held her mother tightly as she felt herself slowly begin to drift off to sleep. She should've gotten up to go back to the guest room, but she was too content and comfortable. "I love you."
"I love you too," she replied finally finding the courage to muster that up. Those were the final words the mother and daughter shared to each other that night. Looking down at this near perfect human that came from her, CC was astonished by the way she was raised. Maybe those Mexican women didn't do so bad of a job. She wanted to meet Bernie one day and thank her for taking care of her baby. She didn't know how to plan that out yet, but she definitely was thinking about it. For now, she needed some much deserved rest. After that night, she had a very different opinion on Mother's Day.. a good one to be exact.
The next morning, Sabrina stirred awake to the aroma of fresh coffee that was filling up the entire penthouse. She groaned and stretched a little bit holding onto the silk sheets that were beneath her trying her best to wake up a little bit. She looked over at the small dresser on the right side to see her locket laying on top of it. The girl picked it up and opened it, smiling widely. The events that had happened the prior night almost didn't seem real and it was as if she was dreaming. However, everything was all too real. She finally achieved her ultimate life goal: finding her birth mother. She couldn't wait to tell Bernie about everything after rehearsals were over. Knowing that there was coffee outside of the door, Sabrina got up and put her locket back around her neck and put on her glasses. Her hair was in a messy bun and she wore a large t-shirt with flannel pajama pants. She looked a little domestic, but it was comfortable. The young pop star opened the door and beamed at her mother sitting at the table and the sight of the coffee prepared. "Hello hello!" She chimed.
CC's focus was directed to Sabrina immediately after hearing her voice. Hearing her infamous greeting, she chuckled and stood up. She set her coffee mug down and walked up to hug her daughter tightly, who eagerly returned the embrace. "Well, well. Look who's up," she said taking a moment to hold Sabrina in her arms and rub her back softly. "Morning, sweetie. I have coffee ready for you if you want any."
"Thanks, Mom," Sabrina replied as she scurried away and went to grab a cup. She still couldn't believe she was actually addressing her mother. Nothing had completely settled in for her. It would have to take a while to get used to. Now that she knew almost the entire time she was in New York that she was staying with her mother, she didn't want to leave. Sabrina added some cream to her coffee and held the mug up to her lips.
"Did you sleep good last night?" CC asked her, in which Sabrina nodded her head in reply. "Great. Did you know I almost fell off my bed because your left leg almost pushed me off the edge?"
Sabrina raised her eyebrows at her mother's comment. She shook her head and placed her hand on her face. "Oh god. One thing I forgot to mention is that I'm a total bed hog. I'm sorry," she said giggling.
"Take a wild guess as to where you're never gonna sleep again," CC retorted playfully crossing her arms in front of her chest. "You're lucky that I was actually in a good mood yesterday otherwise you would've been sleeping on the floor."
The younger girl shook her head and walked over to CC with her own cup of coffee. "Relax. You can take up all the space you want from now on," she said to her with reassurance. She then thought about something she meant to ask and her smile fell a little bit.
"What?" CC asked her noticing her daughter's expression change. Sabrina shook her head nervously not wanting to say what was on her mind in that moment. "No, honey. What's on your mind?" CC asked tilting her daughter's head to look up at her. She could see the doubt in her eyes.. Sabrina's eyes were her eyes after all. "Tell me."
Sabrina sighed sadly and then stated boldly, "I love the fact that you showed me your family and your history yesterday.. I really do. I already said that I couldn't wait to read your dossier later today so I could learn more about you. But..." Sabrina stopped talking afraid at what her mother's reaction was going to be.
"But what..?" CC asked her with concern. "Honey, don't be shy. You can tell me anything."
With a deep breath, she spoke out. "You left out one very important piece of information that you didn't mention to me yesterday. So... who is my father?"
Oh no. CC sucked in a breath and her eyes widened. The dreaded question was asked. Of course she knew that this specific topic was going to be brought up eventually, but CC didn't think it was going to happen this soon. Her poor daughter was eager to know who her father was, but CC was not prepared to tell her. Heck, she wasn't prepared to tell anybody who her father was.. even Sabrina's own father. CC bit her bottom lip nervously trying to dismiss the subject. "Did you have anything to eat yet?" she asked her trying to deter her away from the conversation. "You know Angelica made crepes and quiches the other day that are still good." She led Sabrina to the kitchen to try and get her to have breakfast. She quickly opened up the refrigerator for her daughter, who just stood there dumbfounded. "Go on. Eat up."
Sabrina raised her eyebrows not buying any of the slight melodrama that her mother was causing. "You didn't answer my question," she said stubbornly.
"And you didn't answer mine. Are you hungry or not? Because if you are, you might as well eat up before rehearsals," CC retorted anxiously still holding the refrigerator door open.
"Mom. Please." Sabrina was getting irritated. She was just as stubborn and straight to the point as CC was. It was a curse, yet a blessing at the same time. In this moment, it was definitely a curse.
CC huffed. "Good god, you're just as stubborn as I am. Sit your ass down," she said motioning for her to sit on the bar stool beside the kitchen counter. Sabrina complied slowly and then sat at the bar stool looking over at CC timidly. She had no idea how she was going to react, but seeing that she was getting quite angry made her nervous. "I think it's about high time that we establish some ground rules here. I should've done that from the get go when you first started to stay here, but now that I know I have contributed to bringing you here on this earth, you're gonna start to listen to me. Am I clear?" Sabrina sighed and nodded her head. She still respected her mother no matter what. It was others she tended to irritate for fun. "Okay. Rule number one: you know how I said that you aren't allowed to touch my stuff without permission?" She waited for her daughter to comply, which she did slowly. "Well, you're family now, so feel free to use anything you want in this penthouse. However, do not touch any valuables. That includes the stuff in the filing cabinets, the shelves in the closet, and the expensive gold and silver statues in the room. They are very important to me, so if I see your pesky little hands on them, I will have your head..." CC noticed that her daughter's reaction became fearful at that last sentence, so she smiled and finished with, "...sweetheart."
"Nice save," Sabrina muttered before she took a sip of her coffee. She knew that cold-hearted CC Babcock was starting to show, but she still loved her regardless. Sabrina was probably just as cold-hearted as she was when she lost her temper.
CC reached for the bourbon bottle on the top of the counter and poured herself a small glass. "Rule number two: I'm sure you're aware of your little alcohol rule during production, but now... consider yourself sober for the next two years, because you'll never touch another drop of alcohol until you're legally allowed to do so," she laughed seeing her daughter's reaction.
"What!? Sober!?" Sabrina cried out knowing that she was barred from the only thing that brought her comfort during her pathway to fame. "But.. but Mom.. come on!"
"I said what I said. Whatever shit you pulled on Niles when I first met you will not fly with me.. and I'll make damn sure it won't fly with anybody else."
"But Mom.. Mommy.. alcohol is the only thing that keeps me sane whenever I perform," Sabrina was really on the verge of having a breakdown, but she couldn't possibly. "What am I gonna do when I have fans around me? When I drink, I'm able to tolerate them!"
"Find another way to calm down. Meditate, drink caffeine, work out.. there are plenty of other options out there that are suitable for someone your age." CC sighed and leaned against the counter. "I don't know what you were taught back in California, but one thing I know for sure is that it wasn't discipline." She then took her bourbon glass and held it up to her lips.
"You know it's like.. eight in the morning, right?" Sabrina asked pointing out that CC was drinking.
"It's 5 o'clock somewhere," her mother replied before moving away the glass. "Now don't try to distract me. I'm not done with my ground rules." Sabrina rolled her eyes and looked back at CC. "Here's the last and most important rule of all: nobody, and I mean absolutely nobody can ever know that you're my daughter and I'm your mother."
What CC just stated made Sabrina furrow her eyebrows in confusion. She felt a bit hurt with that, but she figured that CC had her reasons. "Why..?" she asked her feeling a bit sad.
"Outside these doors, we're still close as ever. I can 100% promise you that. But do you know whose names are gonna end up in the tabloids for months if this story got out?"
"Yours?" Sabrina inquired.
"And yours too!" CC walked away from the counter and sat on the other bar stool. "I honestly cannot afford to have both of our names in the tabloids when your father and everyone else in the family has no idea of your existence." Sabrina was about to speak up, but CC was quick to keep conversing. "Speaking of your father, do not ask me again who your father is. Yes, I do know who he is, but I have sworn to never bring this up until I tell him myself. Until that happens, then we can have a discussion with him together, face to face."
"And... when will that happen?"
"When pigs fly," CC answered shaking her head.
Sabrina was getting angry with these little rules her mother established. She reached over to grab her cellular phone. "I'm gonna call Bernie. She has my birth certificate and can tell me.."
"Oh! May I mention that the copies of your birth certificate that were given out have the bottom half cut out? So not even your agent knows who he is. I'm the only one who has the original copy, and I will not tell you where it is or what other information is there," CC spat out eyeing her daughter intently so she wouldn't call Bernie.
Sabrina sighed in defeat and set the phone down. This newfound relationship was already complicated, but she swore to herself she would always have unconditional love for her mother, even during moments like these where she pissed her off like this. "I deserve to know who my father is though.." she said sadly biting her lip. "Why can't you just tell him now?"
"Because I'm not ready for that!" CC shouted. She realized what she had done before she covered her mouth and took a deep breath. She rubbed her temples trying to recollect her sanity before focusing back at her daughter, who was startled at her response. "I - I'm sorry.. for that outburst.." she said quietly in shaky breaths. Sabrina trembled a little bit. She was having memories of the foster parents she lived with yell at her and berate her. To have her own mother do the same thing that they did to her when she was a child made her terrified. "What's wrong?"
"Don't do that again," the girl responded shaking. "Please. I don't want to relive my days in foster care again."
Remembering her daughter's past, CC stood up and hugged her daughter letting her calm down. "I'm so sorry," she apologized again letting Sabrina tear up in her arms. She hated to see her baby this vulnerable. "I didn't mean to.. get that harsh on you. I'm just.. scared, okay?"
Sabrina looked up at her and nodded her head. "I understand," she responded reaching to grasp her hand softly. "I won't tell anyone.. I'll respect you and your decisions, because I love and trust you.. and I know you mean well." She then paused until she became serious again. "But please promise me that one day, you'll tell me about my father.. and you'll let me meet him if possible. I just... I want to know both of my birth parents."
CC smiled and sighed in relief being thankful that her daughter didn't continue to put up this fight. Hearing her request was quite hard to comprehend, but she loved Sabrina. She wanted her to know her father just as much as Sabrina did. She wasn't ready for that step, but when the time would come, she would absolutely allow Sabrina to interact with him. "I promise, baby," she agreed with her and removed her daughter's glasses knowing they were fogging up from the tears. "Now don't cry on me.. I don't want to see your beautiful face so worn out." Sabrina smiled and sniffled as her mother wiped away her tears softly. CC kissed her daughter's forehead before saying, "It's 8:30. We need to get ready for the day, and I have to be at work in a half hour."
"Okay," Sabrina shrugged and stood up as she cleaned off her glasses with her t-shirt.
"You know you're not going to rehearsals looking like that, right?" CC reminded her pointing at her pajamas.
"Why not? I'm comfortable!" Sabrina huffed and walked away from her before going into the guest room to change.
"Because, I'm not going to let you go to rehearsals looking like a homeless man off of 10th Street."
"Whatever!" Sabrina shouted from the guest room as CC couldn't control her laughter at how she tried to be rebellious. She remembered her teenage days when she acted like this much of a brat, and now seeing her daughter was like reliving her days where she'd talk back to her nannies and father. In the back of her mind, CC was thankful that she found her daughter at this age. She couldn't imagine tending for a smaller child. It easily would've been too much baggage on her. But since Sabrina was on her way to adulthood, it was easier for her to interact and banter with her. Honestly, CC was just grateful in general that she was here. She had plans in the back of her mind to make sure that Sabrina stayed in New York as much as possible. She couldn't afford to let her go again, even when after the production ends its course.
