Chapter 5b: The Truth
"Master… I feel a weird presence.." Bam tells me as I'm chewing a piece of steak. With the start of the holy grail war, there's not much that's gone on but there's still some strange things that went on.
"What is it Bam?" I ask him. It has only been a few hours since we've gotten Bam as a servant, but it feels like we've known each other for longer. I don't really understand it as I've never met anybody worthy of becoming a heroic spirit, yet something about him is just familiar.
"Two servants died today.. One of them will probably reincarnate in a few months meanwhile in the other will probably take a few years.." Bam said, looking down at the floor as if he was depressed.
I'm not really sure what's his deal but there's something about him that just makes him look like an emo teenager. It could be that he's in all black, even having black eyes while just looking depressed as a whole. Afterall, he did say he was a protector of the underworld.
I don't know who Bam is from any of the lessons that I got taught from when I actually paid attention. It was almost as if Bam was an unknown spirit in our world.
I wonder what he even did to become a heroic spirit. There has to be SOMETHING for him to be one right?
Anyways, what does he mean two servants died today? What servants?
"What servants died today? Do you know?"
"Saber or Alter-Ego as Kiritsugu called him as well as a lancer known as Enkidu."
I'm really curious how he even knows this. The altered mage is asleep while Assassin and Archer are keeping watch a few miles away, making sure that nobody tried to sneak attack us.
It is pretty weird how Bam knows all of this information. Is he really a protector of the underworld, or is one of his skills just to know who died when they die? It's pretty confusing if you ask me.
"Bam, I would like for you to tell me about yourself."
"Of course.. Master." He takes a deep breath. I'm really not prepared for a long story, but if I have to listen for a long time, then I will get to know him.
"My name is Bam.. I used to be known as a god-slayer until a holy war took place in the previous universe that I lived in. In that war, the only thing I was focused on was retrieving one of the god's sons also known as Liam. I failed to do so which allowed the war to get out of hand even more. That same god, had another son who was the leader of the government and this of course made a full out battle against gods when he fully grew up. Liam was married to a king of hell named D, and became a god himself and a king of hell. He died multiple times in the process but eventually he became a Samsara guardian, an underworld guardian, you name it and he was it. The final battle which took place in the realm of demons named Ars Goetia for us, took three years. After those three years of endless fighting, Liam eventually killed the demon god after that, I disappeared from existence and became an underworld guardian and I'm not sure what happened to Liam after that."
The story wasn't as long as I was expecting. It did sound pretty familiar though, looking back at the book that I read in the real world. Ars Goetia, Demon god, son of a god, all of it sounded way too familiar.
It's almost as if those books are made for real events. Yet those books were known as fiction which was weird. Are they trying to hide the events that happened back then?
"I see.. Thank you Bam.."
"Are you alright Master?"
"Yeah.. I just need some rest.." I laid my head down, closing my eyes and continuously thinking to myself.
The next day rose. The sun was shining quite bright in my face as I opened my eyes. Holy crap that's way too bright! I rub my eyes, trying to see better as they're really blurry as of right now.
They finally stopped being so blurry. The sun was still pretty bright, shining into my face. I looked around me instead of at the sun and I was surprised at what I saw.
Assassin, Archer, Alter-Ego, and the Altered mage were already next to me as I woke up. It felt relieving for them to be so worried about me.
The altered mage threw food at me, and motioned for me to eat it.
It was an egg sandwich with bacon on it. How did they get the stuff to make this?
Eh, whatever, it's better not to ask some questions. I take a bite out of it.
Nom.. Nom.. Nom.. Holy crap this is tasty! Whoever made this is a master chef, I'm telling you!
I take one final bite, and then I get depressed that I ate it all. Dammit, why couldn't that just be an infinite food supply?! I would've loved to eat that every day!
Sadly though, I'm still not fully aware if we have to be cautious about our food or not. This world that we're in is really weird, and it seems that even the heroic spirits don't even know everything about this world.
"Master. Where would you like to go today?" Assassin speaks for once. I was very surprised to hear his voice. It's kind of similar to Kiritsugu's but a little more high pitched.
"I would like to go to a city.. Similar to Shinjuku."
"There's actually a clone of Shinjuku in this world to the north west. It's quite a walk though and we can't teleport there. We'll probably have to walk for a week if that's alright." The altered mage tells me as he gets up off the piece of wood that he was sitting on.
I nod my head, agreeing to walk a week to get there. We're bound to take a lot of breaks, but I suppose this will also help us get closer as people which will allow them to get stronger.
"Where did Kiritsugu the second go!" I shout at Angra Mainyu. He's suddenly just gone as if he left or something. I never heard him leave his room, as when he got back from the battle with that enemy servant he just went straight to his room.
"How am I supposed to know where he went? He entered his room and never left. That would only mean one thing, someone forced to teleport him out of there." I honestly never thought of that.
Afterall, he is Kiritsugu the second so people are bound to kidnap him and be after his life. The only thing is, WHERE would he be teleported to? This world is huge and it'll take forever to find him.
"Should we look for him? Afterall, he did lose Muramasa so the contract with him should be over now, correct?" Angra was correct on that statement. There'd be no reason to find him if the contract is over.
"You're correct.. The only problem is.." I can't think of anything to say. I decide that we shouldn't even look for him and we should just get prepared for the war even more than we already are.
I clench my fists, as I go to sit down at my throne. I'm not even sure if he's dead already but now that the contract is over, he's our enemy again.
Gilgamesh was on his throne on the other side of the room, thinking to himself. I'm very curious about who the enemy was, but I'm cautious and don't decide to ask him.
Angra Mainyu is still excited about killing that strong servant, but honestly it shouldn't be such a big deal as he was made into a very strong servant. Honestly, I'm starting to think that Angra Mainyu is stronger than Gilgamesh but that can't be proven unless they fight, which I won't allow.
"Artoria Pendragon. Arthur Pendragon. What are the differences between the two?" I asked that out loud. I have no idea why that just came to mind but it did.
"What was that master?" Karna asked me. I shake my head. "Sorry, it was nothing." I take a sip of the water next to me. Seriously though, what even are the differences between some of these servants?
Artoria and Arthur shouldn't have many major differences I would think. Yet for some reason, one is stronger than the other. Could it be because Arthur is the correct version of her meanwhile Arthur is the female version of him?
It's pretty confusing why he's stronger than her but it's better to not ask them why as they get offended pretty easily.
"Master, I want to ask you a question." Gilgamesh walks up to me. What type of question would he be asking me right now?
"What is it Gilgamesh?"
"I want you to summon my caster self." He says it as a statement over a question. Is he joking? Unless he means summoning his caster self as a complete separate entity, making him a caster is impossible at this point.
"But why?"
"If caster me gets summoned, there's a possibility that I could learn who that servant was." He really thought this through huh? He's extremely bothered about who that servant was which really didn't bother me.
The only way I could even summon his caster self is if I went to Uruk which I can't do at this very moment because it doesn't exist in this realm! There is another way to summon him though, which is to go to Shinjuku but that is quite dangerous.
Shinjuku is where most servants fight masterless or not. So going there would mean that I have to go all out in a fight, which I don't fully mind. Going all out in a fight should in theory be easy due to me having Angra Mainyu, Gilgamesh, and Karna but there's no guarantee that I won't lose a servant.
"Very well! We will go to Shinjuku where the war is really taking place and summon your caster self!" I really didn't want to summon him due to this altered Gilgamesh getting his memories back but if he insists, then I will summon Caster Gilgamesh.
Sakura finally finished making her noble phantasm. I have no idea how strong it is, or what it does but she seems accomplished and that's all that matters I suppose. From the news that I received, two servants have already died in this war but will be reincarnating soon enough.
More and more masters have been revealing themselves slowly which has brought awareness from other masters. Liliph still hasn't come back from the 'errand' that he was running, so I'm assuming that he betrayed me.
Not like I needed him though, I have Sakura Matou and I can make more allies on the way.
"Senpai, what do you want to do today?" I never really thought of what I wanted to do today, so she asked quite a good question.
"I want to explore the city that's next to us.. I want to see what servants are causing chaos there.."
"Very well senpai." We agreed upon going to the city. If I'm right, there should be strong enough servants for both Sakura and I to become stronger as master and servant.
I've seen many red beams of light, which convinces me that there's an altered servant there. Hopefully it's not some weak altered servant but when seeing those beams of light, it looks as if it's destroying most of the city with just one of them!
Sakura grabs onto my hand and holds it tightly. Whenever she does this, it's because of her being scared but I promised her that I wouldn't let her die. Just because I promised this though, it doesn't mean I'm not going to force her into fighting Emiya.
No matter what, I will win this war and that will require her fighting and winning against Emiya and his master.
The Shinjuku Outbreak begins~
