Secret: the reason I made Pikachu a female was really dumb in hindsight. I wrote another Pokemon Fic one shot of sorts and as I was writing it, I was listening to another fic since the app has a reading feature. In the fic, Pikachu was female and i realized that halfway through writing that other fic, I changed the pronouns for Pikachu from him to her. Since there were more female pronouns I chose to go with it. When I go to this fic I kept that notion of a female Pikachu

Guest: for not training metapod, I felt like it would make more sense if cocoon pokemon like metapod and kakuna just need time instead of battles. It made more sense in a logical sense. For Brock I am unsure how to do his flirting thing. I had him do a small bit with Avoline since not once in the show did he do it for Misty. Might amp it up later on. Yes it is the genesect mewtwo since it was said that the first movie mewtwo and that movie mewtwo are different. Pairing still in the works. I didn't fully explain it but Mew is in a hibernation of sorts. It will be explained later in the story. The last chapter WAS going to end with the introduction of the third Mewtwo but I felt to add some evil cliffhanger into the mix

Chapter 5: the stone from space

"MEEEEEWWWW!"

Misty gasped as she woke up from the loud unknown cry. "What was that?" she heard some more noises that sounded like thrashing and grew curious. She got out of her sleeping bag and opened up her tent to poke her head out in time to see Brock coming out of his.

"Misty, was that you?" was his worried question.

Misty shook her head as she came out of her tent.

They both then heard the noise coming from Ash's and Avoline's tent. They began to make their way closer with Misty asking

"Is everything ok in there?"

They both grew more worried when they didn't get an answer. Instead, they got more rustling.

Brock chose to take the initiative and began to open the tent so they could see what was wrong.

Avoline was panicking as she heard the two outside coming closer. Her mind immediately tried to come up with a way to protect Ash's secret. It was when she heard the zipper of the tent begin to open that she shot her hand into her nurse outfit's pocket and pulled out a Pokeball. Choosing to keep things quiet, she pressed the button to open it and released her pokemon. Once the light began to die down, she harshly whispered "Hypnosis!"

Misty and Brock poked their head into the tent in time for waves of psychic energy to hit them. Their eyelids grew heavy and after a second, they both fell to the ground with Brock on top of Misty, both in a deep sleep.

Avoline sighed in relief at the fact that Ash would remain safe. She didn't enjoy the fact that she had to do that to Misty and Brock but she was determined to protect Ash. She was about to ask her pokemon to help take the two back to their tent but she was then hit in the side and heard whimpers coming from Ash.

"Mew! Mew! MEEW mew~!"

she looked back to see that Ash was still thrashing around with Pikachu and Eevee, along with her pokemon trying to hold him down. She quickly rushed to Ash and moved her hand to the back of Ash's head and gently gripped the tube attachment that was connected in between his shoulder blades and the base of his head. Once she applied some pressure there, Ash's body went limp. She was still worried as she saw him continue to whimper. She sat on her knees before she placed his head on her lap and began to pet him. "I wish I could help you, Ash. but I don't know how. What are you seeing in your nightmares? Does your mind still remember what they did to you? Did they do experiments on you when you were…...created?" she hated to fact that she had to say he was created cause it made it seem like he was just an object and it sounded so demeaning

Pikachu and Eevee had tears in their eyes as they saw their trainer and friend wincing as if he was in pain. They moved to his head before they each gave a lick on his face.

Pikachu gave two licks to the center of his forehead as she spoke "we're here, Ash."

Eevee gave a single lick to his cheek before she snuggled into his chest. "We won't let anything happen to you."

Avoline smiled at how Ash's pokemon tried to make him feel better but before she could say anything, someone else spoke.

"Gar."

Avoline looked up and smiled at her pokemon. "Thank you for helping me, Gardevoir. I'm sorry that I let you out for this but I didn't have much time to think of anything else."

Avoline's pokemon Gardevoir nodded as she knew her trainer was not one to do something on a whim. She looked to ash before thinking of a way to help. She activated her powers and tried to connect their minds so he could help him calm down. She was able to do so to an extent but she could not delve deep as she was always stopped before she could get in too deep. So the most she could do was to soothe his emotions. "Calm down, Ash. you are not alone and we will all help you."

Gardevoir was one of Ash's caretakers that had grown up with him. They had met when Nurse Joy (Avoline's mother) had gone to Hoenn and returned with her as a Ralts. When they first met, she had immediately felt some sense of subservient towards him. It was only after they had played in the forest that she found out why. They had tired themselves out and Ash had decided to take a nap on a tree stump that was getting some sunlight. It was then she witnessed his transformation. Later on, when Nurse Joy found them, she was told the story about him. After hearing it, she had chosen to be one of his caretakers and threw herself into training.

Ash was the happiest when she evolved into a Kirlia, especially since she grew taller and they could play more. He was less happy when she became a Gardevoir but he wasn't mad because of something she did. He was mad because she had become much, much taller. He thought it was unfair how she had been able to grow up so fast while he was still small

She continued to train after that, even though she could not play with Ash as much but as a psychic, she felt that she could help protect ash from any dangers he might face in the future. And if he ever found out about what he is, she might be able to help him with any psychic abilities he may still have. She thought it was odd how he, a psychic type, could not use any powers. Especially since he was a clone of the most powerful psychic pokemon to ever exist. But in her mind, she felt that he still could develop them since he was using a very small amount of it to transform subconsciously. It was thanks to these reasons that she was given to Avoline to be part of her team. She knew that her purpose was meant to protect Ash as one of the last resorts should the need arise. And she would do everything in her power to make sure the very last resort was never used.

Avoline could see that Gardevoir was using her psychic powers to calm down Ash's restless mind and this brought up another worry. 'We have only just started this journey. Ash…..you always have the ability to bring up some kind of trouble,' she thought about the journey they were on and so far, it has started on a very dangerous note. "What should I do? What's more important, Ash's safety…...or his happiness?" she watched as his facial expression soon changed from one of pain to a more relaxed one. She ran her hand over his head as she thought about what she would have to do in order to continue to protect him.

Once she was sure that Ash was now in a more peaceful sleep, Gardevoir lowered herself and used her psychic ability to lift him from Avoline's lap. She moved him to be in a sitting position with his tail being placed on his lap. She moved to sit right next to Avoline and leaned Ash back onto both her and her trainer's chests. They hugged him from both sides as Pikachu and Eevee hopped onto his lap and curled up together with his tail wrapped around them.

Gardevoir looked to the still knocked out Misty and Brock and focused her powers on them. She closed her eyes and lifted one hand towards them before she opened her eyes once again to show they were glowing blue. After a second, Misty and Brock were teleported back into their sleeping bags.

Avoline smiled at seeing her pokemon do this before she closed her eyes to get some sleep with Gardevoir following suit.

They all promised to protect Ash from any danger and be here for him when he finds out, cause with the way things are going, he will find out. Sooner or later. And if his companions find out, they will have to deal with that too.

~morning~

Ash was sleeping soundly in the group huddle in his tent as the sky began to gain an orange tint.

As the light of the sun began to creep over the mountains in the distance, Ash began to regain consciousness. He slowly began to wake up and notice that he was surrounded by a comfortable warmth. It almost lulled him back to sleep but a small flicker of light that peaked through the still open tent hit his eye and he began to wake back up. He didn't know why but he felt something nuzzle into him in an….odd place. He could feel it but it felt like it was in an area away from his body. It felt like it was in front of him but as it nuzzled, the tickling feeling he felt ran from the front to his lower back and up his spine. That woke him up

"Ah!"

"Oof!"

Ash slowly opened his eyes when he saw a blue light appear through his eyelids for just a brief second but was gone when his eyes opened fully. He then saw Eevee and Pikachu rubbing their heads as if they fell off the bed. "Morning, you two. You ok?"

Pikachu grumbled as she nodded "yeah, just fell off what we were sleeping on when it shifted." she worded it carefully as to not completely lie as it was true. They fell of ash's lap when the tail that was keeping them there had disappeared

Eevee stopped rubbing her head and looked up at Ash before she brought her front paws to press on his leg. "Ash, are you ok?"

Ash yawned and smacked his lips as he answered. "Yeah…..why?"

"Because she cares about you, Ash."

Ash looked to his left to come face to face with Gardevoir. It took him a few seconds before he realized he was looking at one of his friends. "Gardevoir?! When did you get here?!" he was gobsmacked at the sight of her but he didn't get his answer from the pokemon. Instead, he got it from a giggling voice to his right.

"She had been with me since I left home."

Ash looked to his right to see Avoline was just as close to him as Gardevoir. "Why didn't you tell me you brought her with you?"

Avoline gave a coy smile as she poked his nose. "Because I wanted to see your reaction when I brought her out."

Ash grumbled at that and was about to get up but realized that he was in the grasp of both Avoline and Gardevoir. "Can I get up now?"

Avoline didn't answer right away, instead, she looked into his face to see if there was anything wrong with him. She shifted her eyes to Gardevoir and saw her nod, which told her that his mind was ok and no fear was felt from him. She released him before she stood up. It was then that she realized that she had slept in her nurse attire.

"Hey, Ash? Avoline? Are you two awake yet?"

Everyone in the tent heard Brock call out.

Ash decided to call out to him "yeah, we are. Hang on, we'll be out in a minute!"

Misty was then heard instead of Brock. "Well hurry up. Me and Brock think we should get a move on so we can get to our next destination."

"Ok!" Ash then got up and moved to his bag to pull out a pair of pants and shirt. It was as he did this that he saw the stones he brought in Pewter City. "I should send those to mom when we get to the next city." he pulled out his clothes and began to undress while keeping his boxers on. It was as he was taking off his pajama shirt that his clothes got a blue glow and they moved on their own. He was then levitated in the air and he knew immediately who it was. "Gardevoir, I can dress myself you know."

Gardevoir smiled as she used her psychic powers to move Ash's clothes on him. "I know. But I don't mind doing this for you."

Ash grumbled as he felt his pajamas being removed before they floated towards his bag while folding themselves. 'Why does she always do this for me?' he gave up as the clothes he pulled out were being put on him. He was placed back on his feet with his pants and shirt now on him. "I don't need you to baby me all the time. I get enough of that from Avoline and Mom." he then looked to Avoline to see that she was already dressed in her traveling clothes and packed up already. "How do you do that?"

Avoline smiled as she pulled out a Pokeball. "I have my ways." she then looked to Gardevoir ready to return her.

Gardevoir nodded to Avoline before looking to Ash. "see you later, Ash." she was then absorbed into her Pokeball to rest.

Ash crossed his arms as he shook his head. "I'm not a baby."

Avoline smiled as she patted his shoulder. "We know. We just care a lot about you."

Eevee and Pikachu hopped up to his shoulder with Eevee wearing his hat on her head

"I think I look good with this hat."

Ash reached up to grab the hat but Eeee shifted her head so she could keep it on. "Hey! That's mine!" he spun around as if it would get him closer to grabbing his hat despite how she was on his shoulder and moved with his turning

"Nope. I should wear it. It looks better on me."

Pikachu just sat on the spinning boy's other shoulder as if nothing was going on with a thought in her head. 'Maybe I should get something to wear. Ribbon? A hat?...scarf?'

Ash finally got his hat back before he left his tent to see Brock and Misty taking down theirs. "Morning, guys."

Brock waved at him as he packed the tent into his pack "morning, Ash. sleep well?"

Ash rubbed the back of his head as he moved to pull out one of the tent's anchors. "Yeah. I had a weird dream though."

This caused Pikachu, Eevee, and Avoline to freeze in worry as they had thought he wouldn't remember what happened last night. Especially since he had been acting normal.

Avoline, keeping her voice as normal as possible and acting as nonchalantly as she could, asked "oh? What was it about?" she gulped as she awaited his answer.

Ash thought back to his dream before speaking. "I dreamed that I became super small and Pikachu and Eevee were using me as a toy."

The three worrying females face faulted at that with Pikachu almost falling off Ash's shoulder but was able to stay on but dangling on his back before she pulled herself up.

"What kind of dream is that?!" she slapped him in the back of the head as she was worried that he might remember the nightmare he had or what had happened last night

Ash winced at the slap as he glared at Pikachu "Hey! It was just what I dreamed. I can't control what goes on in them!"

Eevee shook her head in exasperation at her trainer's odd antics

Avoline sighed in relief at the fact that he did not remember the nightmare but she felt that she would need to keep a closer eye on him

Brock and Misty laughed a how Ash was interacting with his pokemon as it was comedic

~Later~

The group were walking down a path as Brock looked at a traveler's guide

Misty smiled as they were getting closer to a specific mountain. "MT. Moon. oh, that sounds so romantic."

Avoline nodded as she had to agree with her companion. "I agree. The name sounds like a wonderful place to have a romantic getaway."

Brock lowered his book as he spoke about what he had heard about the specific mountain. "They say that back in prehistoric times, during the times where ancient pokemon such as Kabuto and Omonyte roamed the lands, a huge meteor crashed into the mountain."

Ash looked to Brock in interest, especially since he had not heard this before. "A meteor? Wow, it would be cool if we got to see it."

Brock nodded as he agreed that it would be cool. "the meteor is called the 'moon stone'."

Avoline smiled as she brought up some info. "The Moonstone is one of the evolutionary stones that have had the most controversial theories around."

Brock nodded "true. With how evolutionary stones are, the moonstone is one of the most mysterious."

Misty tilted her head in confusion. "Why is that?"

Brock continued. "All evolutionary stones have been studied by researchers for some time but the Moonstone seemed to be made of material that they think came from the actual moon."

Pikachu and Eevee heard the conversation but were at the moment enjoying themselves by grooming each other.

It was Pikachu's turn to be groomed as she sat on the top of Ash's backpack while Eevee stood on his shoulder behind the mouse pokemon. Eevee ran her tongue gently through Pikachu's fur, grooming.

Pikachu sighed in content at her friend's ministrations. "Mm~ not even we pokemon~ know about the moonstone. We just know that it helps some of us evolve mmmm~"

Eevee paused as she looked behind her to the back of Ash's head "I do remember that there is a group of Clefairy at the mountain that protect and worship one."

Pikachu smiled as she thought the idea was a little humorous

"AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!"

The Group heard a scream coming from up ahead and they all ran towards it to see if they could help.

Eevee pouted at the sudden interruption ."I didn't even get my turn."

Pikachu smiled at her as she reassured Eevee that she will return the favor when they can

The group came to a stop as they saw a group of Zubat attacking a man in a lab coat.

Ash had not gotten a good look at the man as the Zubat blocked his view of the man. "Zubat?" he pulled out his Pokedex from his pocket and pointed it at them.

{Zubat. These pokemon are born without eyes. They use their acute hearing and sonic abilities to navigate to where they want to go. They also tend to avoid coming out in broad daylight.}

"Yeah, so why are they out here?"

Misty got in his face as she shouted out "now's not the time to be asking questions! Help him!"

Ash nodded as he agreed with her. "Uh yeah. Pikachu! Thundershock!"

"OK!" she jumped off of Ash and sent out her electrical attack at the group of Zubat over the man

The Zubat were all shocked with most of them flying back into the cave

Brock noticed one of the Zubat had fallen unconscious and smiled. He pulled out a Pokeball and tossed it at it before it captured the pokemon.

Pikachu landed on the ground and pounded her paw on her chest. "I'm awesome."

Eevee smirked at Pikachu as she spoke "modest much, Pikachu?"

Pikachu hopped up into Ash's arms before laying in them. "It's not bad to be a little prideful."

"... fat-headed Pikachu~."

"I heard that!" she stuck her tongue out at Eevee before closing her eyes, hoping to take a nap as ash carried her.

Ash chuckled at his pokemon's banter and began to make his way to the man. "You ok?"

The man immediately got to his feet and enthusiastically hugged ash's head "wow! You are the greatest! I'm talking super fantabulistic! I mean two thumbs up, way up!"

Ash was glad that he was able to hold his breath for an extended period of time as his face was being smothered into the man's clothes. He opened his eyes and looked down at the man's attire and his mind froze. The man was wearing a scientist outfit. His pupils shrunk to small dots at this.

Pikachu was being crushed in between the two as the man was over hugging her and her trainer. She was starting to get annoyed and let out a few sparks "if they don't let me go, I'm going to….!"

Eevee was spared the man's crushing hug as she leaped off before he could grab Ash. From her spot on the ground, she saw Pikachu getting annoyed. "Uh oh."

Pikachu then let out an electric shock that hit both the scientist and Ash

The man fell to the ground as smoke came off him from the electric attack

Ash on the other hand took several steps back and hid behind Avoline. His mind had shut down with the combination of the scientist in front of him and the electricity that went through his body. He was looking at the ground as he began to hyperventilate.

Brock and Misty had not noticed as the man got back up as if nothing wrong happened and was starting to go through some poetic mumbling.

Avoline though grew worried at how he reacted to the man. She placed her hands on his cheek as she whispered "Ash?"

Pikachu and Eevee also noticed this and were now at his feet, pushing at his leg trying to get him to react.

Ash had shut the world down as his mind had flashes of men and women in white coats. Talking to each other

"Too bad…..fuji succeeded…...life"

"Increase power."

"We don't want to kill it."

"I'M ALIIIIIIIIIIIIIVVVEE! THANK YOU SSOOOOOOOO MUCH!"

Ash was snapped out of his trance at the loud shout and noticed that the man was being over-exuberant.

Misty giggled at his behavior as she said. "He certainly doesn't seem like the poetic type."

The man got up from his kneeling position and moved to ash before gratefully grabbing his hand. "Did I mention how grateful I am?"

Ash nervously nodded and spoke "uh….yeah. By the way….why were the Zubat attacking you mister?"

The man gasped before shoving his face into ash's "never call me 'mister'! I'm Seymour! Seymour the scientist!"

Ash flinched at the man's exuberant attitude as he was now uncomfortable being around the man. Though for the life of him, he couldn't understand why. He listened to the man make his introduction in such an odd manner. He felt someone place a hand on his shoulder and flinched at the contact before looking to see that it was Avoline giving him a worried look. He gave the best reassuring smile he could as he turned back to Seymour.

Avoline didn't believe that smile for a second as she felt that she would need to keep a closer eye on him

The group were now walking inside the cave that was being illuminated by hanging lamps that had just recently been installed.

Ash had both Eevee and Pikachu in his arms as he felt some comfort with them in his arms. He followed Seymour as he spoke about the lights and how they affected the ecosystem

Avoline walked close to Ash as a bit more reassurance that he was alright and safe from Seymour as she could tell that something about the man was causing him discomfort. Though she assumed that it had more to do with his attire than anything else. She figured that it had to do with some deep-seated trauma he has from his creation

"...which is probably why the Zubat came out and attacked you." was Brock's response to hearing that the lights were bothering the pokemon

Seymour pointed out several pokemon around that seemed to be behaving differently than they would normally.

Such as a group of Paris planting their mushrooms nearby and a Sandshrew that looked to be dehydrated from the artificial heat that came from the lights.

Pikachu was using her paw to try and fan herself as it was indeed warm inside the cave . "ugh, can't we get rid of those lights? It's so warm."

Eevee was panting as she glared at Pikachu. "I think we all know it's warm. Especially me since I have more fur than you." After her little rant, she layered her head down on Ash's arm as she panted out "you still owe me a grooming too."

Pikachu sighed as she looked at her slightly sweat-covered arm. "I know. But later."

Ash stopped following Seymour as he could no longer take what he was seeing. He moved over to the side as he heard Misty ask

"Troublemakers? But why attack a cave?"

Seymour turned around to answer her question "I'm afraid it's because of the moonstone." he then got into a happy dreamlike verse.

"The moonstone is an awesome boulder.

A million years old or even older"

Deep in these caves the meteor hides

But no explorer has found the place

Of the legendary rock from space."

Seymour then pulled out a magnifying glass and a rock that glimmered in his hand

"We've studied its fragments for many an hour

And discovered it increases a pokemon's power

He then put them away and put on a hardhat and a pickaxe

And that is why the attackers are here

They've come to take the moonstone

Or so I fear"

Ash was now kneeling at a Sandshrew that was panting in exhaustion. He put Pikachu and Eevee down before he reached into his bag and pulled out a water bottle. He paused for a second as he tried to think of how to give it to the tired pokemon. He felt someone tap his shoulder and turned his head to see Avoline smiling at him and giving him a bowl meant for pokemon. "Thanks." He took the bowl and placed it on the ground before putting water in it. He smiled as he saw the Sandshrew began to drink some water to rehydrate itself. He gestured for Pikachu and Eevee to get a drink as well. As his pokemon took a drink he and Avoline walked over to the rest of the group

Brock saw what they did and nodded to them as he thought it was a very nice thing to do for the pokemon. They then turned to Seymour as he continued to speak to them

"Ever since I was a little boy, I have always believed that pokemon came here to earth from outer space."

The group parroted his statement in shock

"From outer space?"

Seymour nodded as he closed his eyes and imagined his theory. "And where you ask is the spacecraft that brought them to earth. In this cave, it's the moonstone."

Misty sweatdropped at the idea as she answered "it certainly is an original theory."

Pikachu, who was taking a drink, suddenly sputtered some water as she heard what Seymour said. She did her best to hide her laughter but it was very difficult since she was both trying to hide her laugh and coughing a bit.

Eevee gave a stern stare at Pikachu as she finished her drinking "don't be rude Pikachu."

Pikachu finally stopped as she sheepishly rubbed the back of her head "sorry. But you have to admit that it is funny to hear that we all came from space."

Sandrshrew finished drinking his fill as he looked at the group of humans "that was really nice of him to give me some water." he looked to Eevee and Pikachu and asked, "is it me, or does he give off the presence of a legendary."

Eevee and Pikachu looked at each other before coming to a silent agreement.

Eevee looked at the Sandshrew before responding "it's just how he is. He gives off that feeling but he is just an odd human that has a….connection with pokemon."

They said they would protect Ash's secret and that meant that they would keep it from random pokemon. Sure he seemed to be a nice pokemon but they can't risk it. Or rather, they were too worried to risk it.

Sandshrew was a little skeptical about that as he thought it was odd how a human could give off the impression that he should be showing his respect but if the trainer's pokemon said that it was just how he was, who was he to argue. He looked back to the human before he raised his claw and called out "thanks for the water!"

The group looked to the Sandshrew with Ash smiling and answering back "you're welcome."

Seymour became sparkly-eyed as he got into his face "you understand what the pokemon said?!"

Ash flinched at how close he was as he nervously said. "I ...uh….just guessed. I did just give him water when he looked like he was thirsty.."

Avoline sighed in relief when she saw Seymour believe his half-lie. She did not want to try and convince the exuberant man that he was overthinking things

Sandshrew also believed what he said even though for s second he thought that the human understood him. He turned to the two female pokemon before nodding his goodbye and jumping into the air before he started digging into the ground.

The group watched as Sandshrew left and were about to head deeper into the cave until they heard another pokemon nearby

"A moonstone! A moonstone! I found myself a moonstone."

Everyone saw a Clefairy hopping down the tunnel with a Moonstone in its grasp that was wrapped up in a leaf so that she would not touch the stone directly

Misty gasped as she saw it "aw it's so cute."

Ash pulled out his Pokedex and scanned the pokemon

{Clefairy. These pokemon are known to reside in MT. Moon. though even in there, it is extremely rare for trainers to see one.}

Ash gained stars in his eyes as he was so tempted to pull out a Pokeball and catch it but as he pulled out one of his Pokeballs, his arm was grasped by Seymour and he froze once again and dropped the ball. He nervously looked at the man who had a stern look, which did not help his nerves.

"Sorry but it's best that you don't catch the Clefairy. I hope you understand."

Ash gulped as he nodded "s-sure." he felt relief when Seymour let go of his arm and took a step back. He looked at his arm in confusion and fear. 'Why am I so scared?' He saw that his hands were trembling and tried to get them to stop.

Avoline saw this and grew worried about him but she wasn't the only one to notice this

Misty and Brock saw this and grew concerned about the youngest of the group.

"Aaaaaaaah"

They were all taken out of their own thoughts as they heard the Clefairy they just saw cry out. They all began to run off to see if they could help

As they rounded a corner they saw a familiar Meowth lording over Clefairy

"Don't be afraid of Me-owth"

Ash cried out at the sight "it's Meowth!"

Meowth turned to see them arrive "Me-owth, what are you doing here?"

Ash gritted his teeth at the sight of the human talking pokemon "so it's Team Rocket causing all this trouble for the pokemon."

"Trouble?"

"Better make that double"

~insert Team rocket Motto~

Seymour looked angered at the group of three as they finished their motor "they sure are showboats"

Ash on the other hand looked amused as he asked "don't you guys get tired of saying the same thing over and over again?"

Pikachu who was on his shoulder again turned to him "Ash you do know that to humans, we pokemon tend to say the same thing over and over again?"

Ash chuckled sheepishly as he had actually forgotten that

She then turned to glare at Meowth as sparks came out of her cheeks "I'm going to shock you till you look like a Jolteon!"

Eevee looked indignantly at Pikachu "hey!"

Pikachu realized her mistake and giggled sheepishly

Ash shook his head as he shouted out "why do you even want the Moonstone?"

Meowth was the one to respond "we want it to power our pokemon."

Jessie continued from here on. "With the Moonstone in our grasp, our pokemon would become unstoppable."

Ash however tilted his head in confusion at that statement. "But doesn't the moonstone only power up specific pokemon? I don't remember Ekans, Koffing, or Meowth being one of the pokemon that could evolve from them. Don't they evolve through training?"

Avoline and Brock nodded as his statement was true.

Brock lost his angered look and got into a lecture "that's right, Ash. The moonstone is one of the evolutionary stones that are used to evolve pokemon such as that Clefairy over there." he pointed at the Clefairy that was talking to Pikachu. "It along with several other pokemon evolve into stronger pokemon because of them."

Avoline picked up from here. "There are many types of evolution stones that can be used. Like a thunderstone, which can be used on Pikachu and Eevee to evolve them into Raichu and Jolteon respectively."

Misty felt like contributing as well in the lecture. "Waterstones as well, are like the thunderstone and can be used to Evolve Eevee into a Vaporeon."

Ash nodded as he heard all this "yeah I read somewhere that there are many different types of evolution stones and it was one of the rarer types of evolutions. Though I think there are more difficult and rarer versions too."

The members of team rocket each gained a pulsing vein at the blatant ignoring the twerps were giving them. In fury, they pulled out their Pokeballs. With Jessie shouting out. "ENOUGH! Ekans Go!"

James followed suit "Koffing! Attack!"

Both Ekans and Koffing came out of their balls ready to battle

The group got out of giving a lecture to Ash as both he and Brock pulled out their Pokeballs.

Ash looked to Misty and Avoline and whispered out "get Seymour and the Clefairy out of here."

Misty nodded as she began to push Seymour out of the area.

Avoline did not move as she did not wish to leave Ash. she was about to say as much when Ash spun his hat around, ready for battle

Ash and Brock pulled back their Pokeball and sent out their pokemon "Oddish! Let's go!"

"Here we go!"

The boys sent out their Pokeballs releasing Oddish and a Zubat

Avoline saw the look in Ash's eyes as he got ready for battle. She wanted to stay and protect him but with how things are now, she had to get Clefairy out of the way. 'Please be careful Ash.' she then spun around, picked up Clefairy, and ran off

Pikachu and Eevee sat on his shoulders as they stood by him for the battle.

Ash saw the Zubat and was stunned by what he saw "hey, wait a minute. Isn't that one of the Zubat that were at the cave entrance."

Brock nodded with a smile "yep. I caught one before we entered the cave."

Ash slumped as he whined out "aw. Maybe I should have caught one."

Pikachu used her tail to slap Ash in the head "focus on winning this battle."

Ash nodded as the battle started

~Oddish and Zubat vs Ekans and Koffing~ {you know the drill, choose your battle music)

James gave out the first move "Koffing, Smog."

Koffing released a dark gree smoke out of his vents that began to fill up Ash's side of the battle

Brock quickly countered "Zubat! Flap your wings, send the smog back!"

Zubat flapped its wings as hard and as fast as it could and sent the smog attack back at Team Rocket

Jessie and James began coughing at the toxic gas while their third member used this time to getaway.

Ekans launched itself at Oddish, attempting to use bite.

Oddish dodged the attack easily thanks to her training, she landed on the snake pokemon before using him as a springboard

"Oddish, Megadrain"

Oddish activated her attack and drained Ekans' energy.

Brock chose to make the next movie "Zubat Supersonic!"

Zubat began to let out a high pitch frequency that struck both Koffing and Ekans

Jessie and James grew angered at the sight of their pokemon attacking each other.

"Ekans! What are you doing?!"

"Koffing quit it!"

Ash felt like ending this battle and since the bad guys never played fair, he felt that he shouldn't play fair with them, at least to an extent. "Pikachu Thundershock!"

"Gladly!" she jumped off his shoulder and sent out her attack which shocked Team Rocket.

The man and woman along with their pokemon screamed in pain before an explosion happened at their feet and they were sent flying deeper into the cave with Jessie calling out

"You may have won this round but we'll be back!"

Brock and Ash cheered in their victory while high fiving

"Yeah!"

"Excellent teamwork!"

Ash's smile then dropped as he thought about the ones that were sent flying. They were missing a member "wait, Meowth wasn't with them!"

Brock realized what this could mean and grew just as worried "that could mean the others are in trouble!"

~meanwhile~

Avoline, Misty, and Seymour were outside as the Clefairy had gotten out of Avoline's grasp and hopped away. The humans were giving chase as Clefairy made it to a natural rock bridge.

Clefairy wanted to get to the designated location in order to make it to the Clefairy ceremony in time

"Not so fast."

The Clefairy stopped as Meowth stood in front of her

Meowth flexed his claws as he stalked his way towards the fairy pokemon "hand over that moonstone."

Clefairy shifted so the moonstone would be further away from the pokemon. In a last-ditch effort to keep the stone away from the mean-looking pokemon, she jumped off the bridge as she knew there was a stream just below.

Misty, Avoline, and Seymour looked up to see Clefairy falling. They ran to catch her with Seymour in front but he overstepped and fell back as it landed right on his face, causing him to slip and fall into the water.

Misty and Avoline helped the man up as Meowth landed on a rock near them

"Alright, hand over that moonstone." he flexed his paws, getting his claws to come out

Misty did not appreciate the threat and pulled out a Pokeball. "I don't think so, Staryu, Go!"

Out of the Pokeball came out one of Misty's signature pokemon

"Ready!"

Misty gave her command to her pokemon. "Staryu, Water gun!"

Staryu bent the top point of her body, and a burst of water shot out towards the cat pokemon hitting him straight in the mouth.

Meowth was suspended in the air as water continued to enter through his mouth, expanding his body to comical levels. After the star pokemon stopped the water inside him shot out of his mouth, sending him flying into the air

Misty waved at the flying cat pokemon as she shouted out "have a nice flight, Meowth!"

It was then that the boys arrived at the site with Ash calling out.

"Hey! You guys alright?!"

Avoline looked back to see Ash coming closer and she walked over to him before she stopped in front of him and began to examine him, with her hands running over him to see if there was anything wrong with him.

Ash blushed at this as he whined out "Avoline! I'm alright!"

Brock chuckled at them as he looked to Misty "what happened to Meowth?"

Misty placed a hand on her hip as she spoke triumphantly "he was no match for Misty the Mighty."

~later~

The sun began to set as the group were all sitting by the stream that Misty had battled Meowth.

The group sat mostly together with Misty being the only one sitting a bit away from them as she had her feet submerged in the water.

Avoline was sitting next to Ash as she was in between him and Seymour. Another attempt to reassure him and it seemed to be working to a certain extent. Ash still would not sit near the man.

Brock was feeding his Zubat a bit of pokemon food of his own making.

Ash looked at the food as he asked "what's that?"

Brock smiled as he explained "it's Pokemon food that I've been developing. I make different versions for each pokemon as each pokemon have different diets. I've spent years improving on the recipe. I'll make a batch specifically for Pikachu and Eevee later on. They can have some of this while we are here though since this batch is a more generic one." he handed over the container to Ash

Ash took the container and pulled out two pieces and handed one to both Eevee and Pikachu. "How's it taste?"

Pikachu took a bite out of hers before giving out a muffled reply "it's good. Though I think it needs something."

Eevee smiled as she swallowed before she spoke "I think it's delicious." she wagged her tail as she was given another one by Ash

Seymour grew intrigued and took one from Brock's container "I'll have one." he put it in his mouth and chewed as he spoke with his mouth full. "Mmm not bad."

Ash's curiosity got the better of him and asked "really? Let me try." he popped one in his mouth and chewed. After a minute he smiled and nodded. "Yeah, it isn't bad. but ….it feels like I've tasted it before."

Brock laughed at this as he could not believe that Ash actually thought it tasted good "well maybe you've had Pokemon food before and didn't realize it."

Avoline chuckled nervously at that as she sweatdropped 'you have no idea, Brock'

Clefairy was also eating some of the food that Brock gave her. She was grateful for these people saving her from the bad people. After she had finished her meal she made a decision "hello!"

Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked towards the Fairy pokemon as she waved to them

Clefairy gestured for them to follow her before she picked up the moonstone, careful to make sure that she grabbed it by the leaf it was wrapped in and hopped up towards a certain direction.

Ash looked to the group "I think she wants us to follow her."

Misty perked up at this and spoke for the group "then let's go!"

The group hiked up the mountain as fast as they could to keep up with the excited Clefairy. They all wondered where the pokemon was taking them but they didn't argue with it since it seemed so happy about them following her. After they climbed up a good bit up the mountain, they came upon a well-hidden cave that they figured no one would really find since it was so out of the way hidden by a forested part of the mountain.

They entered the Cave to see Cefairy standing in front of a massive rock that sparkled in the moonlight.

The Group was in awe at the sight as they had not seen anything like this before

Ash stepped forward to stand in front of the Clefairy but not looking away from the rock. "What is that?"

Clefairy smiled up at him before she said "it's the moonstone." she turned around and walked up to the moonstone before slowly unwrapping the moonstone in her grasp and gently placed it at the base of the massive moonstone which was already full with a ring of moonstones of the same size as the one she had.

The moonstones all began to glow brightly as the cavern began to sparkle as well

Soon a large group of Clefairys appeared and gathered around the moonstone.

The fairy pokemon that led them there then stepped forward and spoke for the group behind her "welcome to the Clefairy's moonstone ceremony. We all come here to pray to the moonstone so that we may be chosen to evolve." then she and the other Clefairy began to form a circle around the moonstone and started hopping around in a well-choreographed wave

Ash and his pokemon were the only ones that understood what was said and they were amazed that they would witness something that they felt no one else would.

The others, however, did not understand and Misty asked "what do you think it said?"

Ash wanted to tell them what Clefairy said but he had to keep his ability to talk to pokemon a secret and looked to his two pokemon for an idea

Pikachu thought about it for a second before she spoke "follow my lead." she hopped off his shoulder and stood in front of the group. She then began to wave her hands in a manner that made it look like she was playing charades

Ash quickly picked up on this and began to try and translate for the rest of the group. "the….Clefairy ….gather around to…..pray…..to the moonstone!"

Pikachu brought up a sign with a circle on it, signifying that he had gotten it right.'we can use this to translate to the others'

Seymour looked at the large moonstone as he asked "is it because the moonstone fell from the heavens?"

The group smiled as they watched the pokemon dance around the moonstone with Misty adding her own thoughts

"Then maybe the moonstone really did come from outer space"

Seymour then gained a look of amazement as he raised his arms into the air "OOOH it all makes sense now!"

Avoline was the one to ask "what does?"

Seymour began pointing to the sky "outer space! Pokemon! And the human race will ride the moonstone into space" he then gained stars in his eyes as he smiled widely "first to the moon, then to mars, then together to the stars!"

"'Stars' that's our cue."

The group turned around to see that team rocket was once again bugging them as they stood at the entrance

Ash glared at them "you guys don't know when to quit!"

Seymour moved forward and spread his arms as if to protect the stone behind them "you keep away from the moonstone or else!"

James scoffed as he mocked "'or else'? Is that supposed to be a threat?"

Seymour's leg began to shake with a very audible rattling "th-the moonstone b-b-b-belong to the Clefairy. Not y-y-y-you troublemakers."

James shrugged his arms as he asked in a mocking tone "what's that unusual sound?"

Jessie laughed at the scientist "his knees are shaking."

Meowth shook his head at the pathetic sight of the scientist "sounds like a wimp."

Seymour, not appreciating being made fun of chose to charge at the trio "I'll show you!" as he ran, he closed his eyes and yelled as if he was giving a battle cry. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't see anything so he ended up tripping on Meowth's foot before he fell to the ground, losing his glasses

Ash gritted his teeth at this. Sure he did feel uneasy around the scientist. But these guys are just despicable. "We won't let you take the moonstone." he pulled out a Pokeball ready to battle them once more. "The moonstone is yours! It belongs to the Clefairy and we will protect it for them!"

The Clefairy all witnessed this stranger stand up to protect the moonstone that they had worshipped for many generations. As they gazed at his back they all felt the presence he gave off. It felt like a legendary pokemon.

Legendary pokemon were beings of great power that had watched over many different aspects of the world and here was a boy that gave off the same presence. They felt the need to assist the boy in protecting what was theirs. They all looked at each other and all came to a silent agreement before they all stood side by side before they lifted their arms and lifted a finger on each arm.

Everyone noticed the Clefairy and watched as they began to wag their fingers left and right

Jessie asked incredulously at the action "what are they doing

James shrugged as he was just as confused "waving their fingers.

Everyone began to bob back and forth in tune with the fingers and their chanting

Though Ash and his pokemon understood what the chanting was

"Metronome. Metronome. Metronome. Metronome."

Avoline helped Seymour up as she handed him his glasses. She looked at the pokemon and spoke "this is a move that the Clefairy are most known for. It's Metronome."

Everyone watched as the Clefairy continued to use their move

Ash then remembered that the move had several unpredictable results but there were a few that were more prominent. "Uh...if this is Metronome then wouldn't that mean that…"

Avoline understood what he was getting at and quickly called out "quick, everyone take cover!"

Brock and Misty were confused about this before they were dragged away by Ash while Avoline grabbed Seymour

They all hid behind the moonstone itself since there was no other place to hide.

Ash had dealt with the move before and more times than anything else it ends up as one of two moves

The Clefairy then stopped wagging their fingers as they all began to glow white

Team Rocket were confused about what was happening until they got their answer….in the form of the move explosion. They were sent flying out from the open ceiling, singed and in pain

As they flew, they shouted out "Looks like team Rockets blasting off again!"

The Clefairy, despite being in the explosion all smiled as the move did nothing to hurt them

Ash and his friend held on to each other as the wind from the blast nearly sent them flying.

Pikachu and Eevee clung to Ash's shirt for dear life with Pikachu using her paws while Eevee used her teeth.

Once the wind died down they all let out a sigh of relief before they looked up at the moonstone toss that it hadn't moved from this spot

Brock gave a low whistle "wow. The moonstone is tough."

The group got up and moved to see if the Clefairy were ok but paused as they witness something incredible

The smalling moonstones had been shattered and particles of them behave to float around, touching several of the Clefairy

A good amount of the Clefairy began to evolve into Clefable.

Ash pulled out his Pokedex and scanned one

{Clefable. These pokemon are rarer than the previous form Clefairy. They are known to remain high in the mountains away from public areas}

"Wow."

Seymour smiled as he spoke up "I've decided to live here with the Clefable." He saw the kids' shocked expression and elaborated "it's been my dream to find the moonstone and travel into space with the pokemon."

The group nodded as they thought it would be nice to travel into space

Brock nodded as he spoke, "well if you do go into space, don't forget to send a postcard."

After a while, the ceremony came to a close and the Clefairy and Clefable began to hop away to find a place to rest.

The group left the cave and found a nice grassy spot to set up camp

Ash was pulling out his sleeping bag so he could sleep under the stars but he was suddenly stopped by a firm grasp on his shoulder. He looked back to see the stern look on Avoline's face.

"Ash, what are you doing?"

Ash didn't know what he was doing wrong and answered as if it was obvious "getting ready to sleep?" came his questioning answer. He had always wanted to sleep under the stars and thought that he would get the chance to do so now.

Avoline shook her head as she stood up straight "no! You are to help me set up the tent so we can sleep in there."

"But…."

"No buts!"

Ash whined out as he was being denied something he wanted to do "But Avoline….."

"Ash…."

Ash looked down to see Eevee and Pikachu looking up at him with pleading looks. It was Eevee that spoke

"Please, Ash. just listen to her."

Ash thought it was unfair that they were giving him those looks as he felt his will to sleep outside weaken until he slumped "...ok."

Avoline's stern look shifted to a pitying look "I know you want to sleep outside Ash but please just trust me. You need to sleep inside the tent."

Ash looked at her as he asked "but why?"

Avoline bit her bottom lip as the look on his face made her want to tell him but she knew that it was for his own good. "I will tell you one day, Ash. but for now, just listen to me….ok?" she placed her hand on his cheek as she hated that look on his face

Ash sighed before nodding "ok."

Brock and Misty were a bit confused about this as they didn't see the harm with Ash sleeping outside but figured that it had to do with his condition.

Brock though, felt that there was something else going on. He recognized the look they both had. Her look showed that she had something important on her mind but couldn't tell him what it was. He knew it because he gave that look to his siblings before. 'If it is that important then I shouldn't pry.'

After Avoline and Ash set up the tent, they bid everyone a good night before they entered the tent

Ash sighed as he laid down on his sleeping mat. "I don't get why you won't let me sleep outside Av...Nurse Joy." he was in his pajamas so that he could sleep comfortably

Avoline, who was now in her Nurse Joy role smiled at him. "I know. But please believe me that it is for your own good." She pulled out a Pokeball and released Gardevoir.

Gardevoir looked around before she saw Ash laying on his mat. She could feel his mood was sour, and moved over to sit on her ap before lifting his head and placing it on her lap "are you ok, Ash?"

Ash grumbled, not really feeling like trying to get off her lap. "I just wish I could sleep out there with my friends." he felt her fingers run through his hair and could feel his mood calm down and sleep taking him.

"One day you will, Ash. just believe that we all are looking out for you."

Ash felt his eyes slowly droop before they closed "I know…...I just…" he didn't get to finish his statement as he had fallen asleep, which also meant that he transformed back into his Mewtwo form.

Gardevoir focused on her psychic powers to make sure that he remained in a peaceful sleep. She would do this as long as she could if it meant that ash would have a restful sleep.

Pikachu and Eevee moved to lay on Ash's stomach and curled up together. They were surprised when Ash's tail curled around them as if to secured them

"You still owe me a grooming."

Pikachu grumbled as she tried to bury her face in Eevee's tail

Avoline smiled at the sight as she made herself comfortable so she could watch Ash sleep. She wanted to make sure that nothing like the previous night happened and if that meant she would stay up as long as she could, she will do it

~later~

A few hours after everyone had fallen asleep, including Avoline, a figure walked up to the tent before stopping right at the entrance. Instead of opening the tent, it put down a bowl and a single Pokeball

~next day~

The group were on the road as they had left Mt Moon behind with Seymour seeing them off

Avoline was the first to wake up this time and she found the water bowl and Pokeball sitting there outside her tent. She was very confused about this especially since she remembered that they had left that bowl at the entrance they came from. She didn't question it as she figured that one of the Clefairy may have brought it to them. It was then she noticed that Ash's belt was missing a Pokeball and figured that he may have dropped it at one point.

The group came up to a sign that was placed at the crossroad

Brock was looking at a traveler's guide before he read the sign "looks like the road to the left heads to Cerulean City. looks like we are going the right way." he then looked at the traveler's guide which showed what the other road went to "and the right side goes to Cerulean cave. A location that is said to be for veteran trainers."

Misty's mood dropped at hearing that they were close to her home.

Avoline placed a hand on her shoulder and gave her a reassuring smile

Brock then noticed that there was something written on the sign in small print "seems someone wrote something here."

Ash smiled as he remembered hearing something. "Well, some kids tend to write stuff on signs when they come by. What's it say?"

Misty giggled as she shook her head in disbelief "Ash, you're a kid yourself."

Ash chose to ignore that as he read what was written

"Gary was here. Ash is a loser!"

Ash growled at that as he hated how Gary was not even here and he was still being belittled. "That Gary!" he wanted to run off to chase Gary down but Avoline placed a hand on his shoulder and he immediately calmed down. This did not stop him from stomping down the road.

Brock, Misty, and Avoline sighed as they followed Ash towards the city.

Avoline's actions at the beginning were to show that she is willing to go to great lengths to protect Ash's secret

I swear Gardevoir was NOT part of the plan for this chapter. I had planned on having her use Abra but I found out that Abra can't use Hypnosis. Then I started writing and remembered that Gardevoir could use it and she became part of the story. I can still switch her out if you guys think I should and I will come back to this chapter and replace her with another pokemon

To clear things up. Ash is not completely reliving his time in the incubation chamber. The nightmare he had left an imprint on him so the experience of the third Mewtwo had scared him.

I both love and hate this chapter. love it because I like how most of it came out and I hate it because I forgot how pathetic Seymour was. He seems more like a dude who thinks he is a scientist

As for the Pokeball water bowl thing, it is in the chapter so it's not a mistake. The ball could be empty or have an occupant. But who knows

Ok for the pairing. I am THINKING of making this a harem. This DOES NOT mean that it will be but I keep adding females and I'm starting to have trouble thinking of who to choose. Heck at one point I was thinking of having Avoline be with him. But damn it I am writing the pairing into a corner. Something I want to bring up though IF and that is A BIG IF I make this a harem, I will not be making it like other fics where he will have sex with everyone every chapter. I am more story-oriented when it comes to my fics and lemons don't add to it. But again, that IS A BIG FRIGGIN IF. your reviews do help me decide on these things

I'm sorry if sections of this seem rushed it's really friggin early/late. Like way past midnight late and my brain is getting woozy from the lack of sleep
