After arriving at the New Avengers Facility, Scott was greeted by Steve and Natasha. He then began pacing in front of the two.
"Scott, are you alright?" Steve asked, concerned.
"Huh. Oh yeah, I'm fine." Scott replied. He was struggling to ask the two something, but eventually blurted it out.
"Have you ever studied Quantum Physics?"
"Only to make conversation." Natasha answered.
"Alright. So...five years ago, right before Thanos. I was in a place called the Quantum Realm. The Quantum Realm is like it's own microscopic universe. To get in there, you have to be incredibly small. Hope, she's my..." He struggled to not tell them the whole story about their relationship. "She was supposed to pull me out. And then Thanos happened, and I was stuck in there."
"I'm sorry. That must have been a very long five years."
"Yeah, but that's just it. It wasn't. For me, it was five hours."
Steve and Natasha look at each other, bewildered.
"See, the rules of the Quantum Realm aren't like they are up here. Everything is unpredictable. Is that anybody's sandwich? I'm starving." Scott explained before noticing a uneaten sandwich left on the table by Natasha. He strolled over and took a bite out of it.
"Scott, what are you talking about?" He questioned.
"What I'm saying is, time works differently in the Quantum Realm. The only problem is right now, we don't have a way to navigate it. But what if we did? I can't stop thinking about it. What if, we could somehow control the chaos and we could navigate it? What if there was a way to enter the Quantum Realm at a certain point in time but then exit at another point in time? Like...like before Thanos."
Scott then felt someone standing behind him and turned around.
"So, what you're telling us is that we can use the Quantum Realm to travel to the past like a time machine." Superman pointed out.
"No. No, of course not. No, not a time machine. It's more like a... Yeah, a time machine. I know it's crazy. But I can't stop thinking about it. There's gotta be some way... There's gotta be...some w... it's crazy."
"Scott, I get e-mails from a raccoon, so nothing sounds crazy anymore." Natasha retorted.
"So who do we talk to about this?" He asked.
"I know someone who can help with that." Superman said out loud before zipping through the building to let everyone else know about the time machine. Then he, Steve, Natasha and Scott left the New Avengers Facility.
At a lakeside house, Tony was enjoying quality time with his daughter when Steve, Natasha, Scott and Clark arrive.
"Stark." Clark greeted in a dry tone. He sighed, not looking forward to the discussion about to take place.
"I'll leave you guys to it." Superman floated off the ground and then rocketed upward into space producing a sonic boom in the process to assist Captain Marvel's efforts in keeping peace across the universe.
Scott then explained his plan to Tony.
"Tony, after everything you've seen, is anything really impossible?" Steve questioned him.
"Quantum fluctuation messes with the Planck Scale, which then triggers the Deutsch Proposition. Can we agree on that?" He points out a problem with their plan.
The three share puzzled looks as science isn't any of their specialties.
He then handed a drink to Steve.
"Thank you." Steve said gratefully.
"Back to the point. It means you can cancel your Netflix subscription because you're not coming home." Tony explained further.
"I did." Scott countered.
"No, you accidentally survived thanks to a billion and one cosmic fluke. And now you wanna pull off a...what do you call it?" Tony corrected him, before asking a question.
"Time heist." Scott answered, trying not to sound too proud.
"Yeah, a time heist. Of course, why didn't we think of this before? Oh, because it's laughable? Because it's a pipe dream?" He scoffed.
"The Stones are in the past. We can go back and get them." Scott told him.
"We can snap our own fingers. We can bring everyone back." Natasha added.
"Or screw it up worse than he already has, right?"
"I don't believe we would." Steve said, confidently.
Tony stared at him.
"Gotta say, sometimes I miss that giddy optimism. However, high hopes won't help if there's no logical, tangible way for me to safely execute said time heist. I believe the most likely outcome would be our collective demise." He muttered.
"Not if we strictly follow the rules of time travel. That means no talking to our past selves, no betting on sporting events-" Scott suggested, before he was cut off.
"I'm gonna stop you right there, Scott. Are you seriously telling me that your plan to save the universe is based on Back To The Future?" Tony pointed out.
"No." Scott replied, feeling embarrassed now.
"Good. You had me worried there. 'Cause that'd be horse shit. That's not how quantum physics works." He informed Scott.
"Tony... We have to take a stand." Natasha took a step forward.
"We did stand. And yet, here we are." He retorted.
"I know you got a lot on the line. You got a wife, a daughter. But I lost someone very important to me. A lot of people did." Scott raised his voice. "And now, now we have a chance to bring her back. To bring everyone back. And you're telling me that won't even..." He trailed off.
"That's right, Scott, I won't even. I got a kid." He nodded.
Tony's daughter then runs up to him, and he picks her up.
"Mommy told me to come and save you." She said.
"Good job. I'm saved." He turns to face Cap, Nat and Scott. "I wish you'd come here to ask me something else. Anything else. Honestly, I... I missed you guys, it was... Oh, and table's set for six."
"Tony, I get it. And I'm happy for you, I really am. But this is a second chance." Steve sighed.
"I got my second chance right here, Cap. I can't roll the dice again. If you don't talk shop, you can stay for lunch." He heads back inside the house.
They walk back towards the car.
