"Sister I live and lie for you
Mister do or else die
You are mine I possess you
I belong to you forever"
Seven Seas Of Rhye, Queen

"- P-Phoebe... what do you mean our children?" - his voice was louder now, but she would say, sounded more nervous than angry.

"- I'm... sorry Max... I thought you already knew"

His face got darker than she had ever seen, and when he grabbed her wrist she jumped. He half pulled, half dragged her to the door that led to his lair and as he reached it his only actions were to let go of her and point to the stairs, without any additional words or explanations. She didn't need explaining anyways, she knew that feeling, that complete lost feeling from just hours ago when she heard it herself for the first time. She could also guess the questions, and going down those stars she understood they couldn't risk more people finding out about it, so she did what he wanted without the need of questioning.

If any possible his lair was even colder than the living room, still that wasn't why she was shivering. Phoebe knew her best chance to explain was to talk before he put the pieces of the puzzle together in his head and hated her for the rest of his life for the truth, but she just couldn't bring herself to speak. Her lips felt numb and as if they weren't controlled by her, they didn't make a sound no matter how her mind was screaming in agony.

His voice was calm but startled her in the silence, making her body twitch and tremble even more "- She told you that? The girl?" - Her eyes reached his but still Phoebe's lips did not move, he continued a little louder now "- What did that girl upstairs tell you? Repeat every word!" Max's eyes were fierce and reflected the hurry, the need of knowing and she saw that but she didn't have the strength to tell him, not after her heart already acknowledged that those two kids were part of her, a part that should be protected.

Max searched for her eyes once more and, when he did, the realization he wouldn't be getting an answer stroke. He approached her then, no longer walking in circles trying to ignore how much she was shivering or that annoying little sparkling tears in her cheek, his hands found its place on each of her shoulders, his grip was strong but didn't hurt her. "Phoebe you need to look at me, look at me, please" - He was pleading and she wasn't strong enough to resist, even though he was this close to her "-Tell me why you said that, I know you wouldn't joke about something like this, so I want to understand! Please, PLEASE Phoebe."

She did then, found her voice within the pain.

"- They're ours. She, Barbara, was hurt and couldn't quite get a hold of everything she was telling me, so when the words she spoke were overwhelming and more than she should have said, it was much too late to take them back." Her tears fell at a rhythm now slowly traveling down her face and her voice was getting affected, after a short break she shut her eyes and finished the what she had to say in the darkness of her lids "- I knew, but it hadn't... clicked, I could say. Because if anyone else told me, I would not, in any circumstance, have believed. But the words never even had to leave her lips for me to understand, suddenly her reaction to being here was enough, and I want be clear now, when I asked, or better begged her, to tell me it was not true, to not be you, she responded to me not with words but with hurt. We are hurting them, as much as we'll someday hurt everyone else with our choice."

She didn't open her eyes. She wasn't brave enough to look at him and see rejection, even if she felted too. It would hurt her more than anything to see in Max's eyes that he felt disgust of her.

But then his hands let go of her and as an impulse her eyelids flew open searching for him ready to reach out and grab him back to her. Only a second later she realized his arms were still on her, holding her body closer now, in an embrace that felt like the only warm thing on the planet, she melted into him feeling the shivering give place to warmth. "- God why are you trembling so much Phoebe, don't scare me like that"

"- I'm sorry, I'm better now. Thank you."

"- What are you sorry for?!" - He asked as much for himself as a question can be "- I dragged you down here, you must be freezing. It 's my fault. As it always is. I forced my feelings onto you and you accepted because I'm your brother and you should trust me. Well you should be able to."

She was stunned, lost in his words. She pulled back so her eyes could tell him what her heart was screaming to say, to make his pain go away and make him see it wasn't him who was sick "- Max are you insane? Of course you didn't force me, not now, not ever. I do trust you, because you're my twin and because I love you. And I CAN trust you because I know you love me too!"

He turned his back at her "- Maybe I am insane" He let out a dry laugh ''Those kids will make their way into this world because of it. I've known for a long time, because you are perfect, so how could I not love you but I've never believed I wouldn't be able to resist and a-abuse my own sister."

She ran to him, desperate to make him understand, she put her hands on each side of his cheeks and talked as if he was a kid, trying to make him see the truth in every word "- You would never force yourself on me, I believe that with all my heart. With all I am." She stopped then, not sure if she should and could pronounce the next words that begged to be said, it was his eyes filled with doubt that convinced her and in the shadows, looking deep inside his sparkling eyes, she broke the silence and let out one simple phrase that would change her whole life "- And you wouldn't need to, I want to be with you."
