Marley looked at her father, sighing. "Dad, I have a bad feeling."

Magnus walked towards his daughter. "Why is that, munchkin?"

"I don't know, it's just a bad feeling." Marley replied to him.

"I know that feeling, something very bad is going to happen." Magnus told to his daughter.

Just then Alec walked into the apartment and told them. "My mother's back."

"Which means I'll make myself scarce." Magnus comment as Marley laughed at her father's silliness.

Alec shook with his head. "No, I have something else in mind."

"Hmm." Magnus sighed.

"How would you feel about throwing a party?" Alec asked, looking at them.

"Have you met me?" Magnus asked back.

Alec smiled at his girlfriend's father. "It is for Max's Rune Ceremony."

"I think I'll pass." Magnus told them.

"Dad!" Marley exclaimed.

"Magnus!" Alec exclaimed as well.

"I'm sure I'll love Max. But Maryse? That woman hates me." Magnus told them, seriously.

"She will hate me too, if she knows that I'm his daughter." Marley pointed at her father. "And I don't want her to know, not yet."

Alec nodded to his girlfriend. "That's sort of the point of the party." He told them, pointed at the last sentence at Marley. "So that she can see that this, it's not going away."

"Are you sure about this?" Marley asked to him.

"Why wouldn't I be?" Alec asked back to her.

Magnus sighed and told them. "Then I better get to work."

Marley smiled at her father. "And I will help you, dad." She told him.

Magnus hugged his daughter as then they get to work as Alec went away, back to the institute.

Jace was studying old books to find the demon as the cats surround him and begged for attention. Then he called for Magnus. "Magnus!"

Then Magnus came into the outdoor room, followed by his daughter, Marley. "Aw! Salut, mon petits chats. You're new, aren't you?" He used his magic, making bowls with milk appear. Then the cats run towards it. "I spoil them. I can't help it. It's the only way to win them over."

"It's not the only way, dad." Marley comment to him. "Also you have to give cats attention and love."

Jace looked at Marley. "Well, I guess when you put your mind to it, you can win over just about anyone, huh?"

"You're talking about Alec." Marley sat down across from Jace, her father next to her.

"Look, I've been there." Jace told her. "I know it's a whirlwind fling that burns so hot all it can do is flame out."

Marley looked at him in disbelieve. "Is this what you think it is? A fling."

"I don't know what it is, but I know my brother." Jace shook his head. "He's sensitive. And now that you guys have taken things to the next level…"

"So, he told you." Marley told him.

"No, he didn't have to. We're parabatai." Magnus and Marley gave both Jace a look, father and daughter had the same impression. "No. No, no, no. No, it's not like that. It's… I can, uh… I can just, I can sense that he's happier." Then Marley nodded. "Look, I'll make this simple, okay? I'm never gonna let anyone hurt him."

"Then we have that in common." Marley told him as then she pointed at her father. "You think he would invite Maryse Lightwood to his home for just anyone?"

Then they both smile. "I hope this party has an open bar." Jace replied her as then he stood up and walked away.

Sometime later, the party was already began as Clary and Simon went inside and all others that were invited were there as well. They just need to wait for Max and Maryse.

"I'm worried the empañadillas are soggy. I gave the chef specific directions…" Magnus was interrupted by his daughter.

"Dad, everything is perfect." Marley told her father. "Don't worry."

"But…" Magnus was interrupted again, this time that a door opened as Max walked in, Maryse close behind him.

Then Alec turned around and saw them. "Max! Mother."

Magnus gives Maryse a friendly nod as then Maryse gives Magnus a bottle of alcohol. "I heard you like to drink."

"She not wrong." Marley comment.

Magnus chuckled. "Welcome, Maryse." He took the bottle. "Max, this is your night."

"You do have exotic taste, don't you?" Maryse asked to him.

"Oh, the Spanish theme is in honor of you and your husband." Magnus replied to her.

"Really? How so?" She asked to him.

"Alec and Marley told me that Robert proposed to you in Barcelona." Magnus smiled at her. "I wanted to celebrate a joyous memory. Especially since he couldn't be here."

"How sweet that Alec feels comfortable sharing our personal family stories with you." Maryse fake smiled back. "Especially considering your… disparate backgrounds."

"How about a drink?" Magnus looked at them. "Sangria for the lady, a Roy Rogers for the guest of honor." Then he walked away to fetch the drinks.

Then Maryse looked at Marley as she said to her in a low voice. "They know what you are."

"What?" Marley asked confused.

Alec was confused as well. "What's wrong, mother?"

Then Max told them, lightly. "You are a rare-shadowhunter warlock." He looked at her. "It's cool."

Marley blood runs cold. "Oh."

Then Maryse sighed. "We will talk after the party." Then the others nodded to her.

Clary wanted to walk away out of the apartment as then she bumped into Magnus. "Hey! What's going on, biscuit?"

"It's Simon." Clary replied to him. "He poured his heart out about wanting to be with me, and then, then he hooks up with Maia."

"That doesn't sound like Simon." Magnus told her. "Are you sure you haven't had too much sangria? It's strong. I made sure of it."

"Please. I just need to leave." Clary told him, seriously.

"Hey, don't." Magnus suggested to her. "We'll figure out what's going on with Simon. But tonight's about Max. And Alec and Izzy. You'll never forgive yourself if you're not there for your friends. Okay." Then she nodded and walked back to the party.

Then a quarter later, they were on the balcony, well Magnus, Marley, Alec, Max, and Maryse are out on the balcony. Max looked at Magnus by his hands. "I don't see anything."

"That's because you're not looking hard enough." Magnus snapped with his fingers and a gift appeared in his hands. Then Magnus gives it to Max. "Congratulations, young Shadowhunter."

"What do you say, Max?" Alec asked to his younger brother.

"Thank you. Where's your warlock mark?" Max asked to him as then he asked to Marley. "Do you have one as well?"

"Max…" Alec was interrupted by his mother.

"You were just as curious at his age." Maryse told her son.

Marley smiled at the young boy. "Yeah I have one as well."

"It's okay. I only share with my closest friends." Magnus' eyes light up and they became cat eyes as then Max flinched. Then Jace walked out into the balcony.

"How much of you is a demon?" Max asked to Magnus.

"Max, enough." Jace looked at Max. "That's not how we treat our friends. Apologize to Magnus."

Max looked at Jace. "You can't tell me what to do."

"Hey, just because you're getting your first rune doesn't mean you can talk to your brother like that." Alec scolded him.

"Jace isn't my brother!" Max shouted.

Everyone looks at each other, shocked at what Max just said. Then Alec shouted. "Max!"

"Mom says you're not even part of our family." Max told to Jace.

"Jace, I…" Maryse trailed off as then Magnus, Marley, Jace, and Max go inside.

Then Alec looked at his mother. "This is your fault."

"I've tried to keep Max out of it." Maryse told her son.

"The hell you have." Alec was very serious. "He learned this behavior from you. If you ever wanna make things right with me, you better make them right with Jace."

Then Maryse went inside.

Clary was about to confront Simon and Maia when she was held back by Magnus. "Slow down, hotshot."

"Get out of my way, Magnus." Clary told him.

"Oh, no. I'm not letting you make a scene." Magnus held Clary back, still. "This is an elegant affair, not an episode of The Real Housewives of Idris."

Clary pointed at them. "Tell Simon that, because I can't stand here while he hits on Maia right in front of me!"

Magnus looked over at where Clary was pointing. He saw Simon talking to Raj. Then he looked back at Clary. "I think we have a different idea of courtship." Then he saw Jace, Marley and Izzy go into the guest room and spotted Maryse lying on the floor.

"Magnus, I can't stay here, okay?" Clary told him. "Everyone is acting completely insane. I have to leave."

Then she wanted to walk away as he grabbed her arm. "Not while you're hallucinating. Stay right here while I figure out what's going on." As soon as Magnus was gone, Clary walked to the front door to let herself out.

"Hey, are you leaving?" Alec asked to her.

"I have to." Clary replied to him. "Seeing you here, drink in hand, all smiles, it makes me sick."

"What are you talking about?" Alec asked confused.

"I'm talking about you killing my mom." Clary told him as then he walked off, flustered, Clary followed him.

Magnus came in and took in the whole scene. "Okay, the sangria may have been too strong."

Jace pointed at Maryse, who was unconscious. "She just tried to kill me, Magnus."

"This will help." Magnus crouched down and started to use his magic on Maryse.

"She just threw and ax at my head. Okay, it's stuck in the shelf, right there." Jace told them as then he pointed at the ax which is also an hallucination.

"Jace, there's nothing there." Marley told him, looking at the wall, but there nothing there.

"It's right there. Why can't you see that?" Jace asked to her.

Maryse gasped and sat up as Izzy asked to her mother. "Mom, are you okay?"

"Hey, hey, hey, don't let her up." Jace looked in shock. "She's out of her mind."

Maryse was helped up by Izzy, then she looked at Jace. "Jace, I came up here to apologize to you."

"Then why would you…" Izzy trailed off.

Then Jace heard Maryse say in distorted voice. "I should have killed you when I had the chance."

"She just said it." Jace pointed at her. "Don't you hear her?"

"Dad, what the hell is going on?" Marley asked her father, not caring that Maryse heard her.

"Listen to me." Magnus told them all. "Nobody's trying to kill you. You have to believe me. Someone's playing with our minds. Feeding into our insecurities…" Then there's screaming on the other side of the door.

"Alec. Alec, no!" Clary shouted so loud that that they could hear her. Alarmed, Izzy, Marley, Jace, Magnus, and Maryse went to where the sounds was coming from and It's the roof. "Alec… what are you doing? You're scaring me."

Alec was standing on the edge of the balcony, about to jump.

"You're a murderer, Alec. Nothing more. Why are you still here?"

"Alec, please, come down from there." Clary pleaded him, but he seemed not to hear her.

"All those times you told me I wasn't a good Shadowhunter…"

"I know, I know you wish I was dead instead of Jocelyn." Alec told her.

"I don't wish you were dead." Clary held her hands up.

"You let a demon possess you? You're weak."

"Please… Okay? Don't worry." She held her hand towards him. "Take my hand."

"Nobody's gonna miss you. Weak. The guilt must be eating you alive."

"Take my hand." Clary pleaded.

"Murderer." Then Alec let himself fall.

"Alec!" Clary shouted in shock as Magnus and Marley were just there in time and saw Alec fall. "Alec!" Then they used their magic to keep Alec floating in the air as then they pulled Alec back up. "Oh, my God." Clary looked in shock as then they let Alec sit down against the wall. Then Izzy and Jace walked into the roof now as well.

"What happened?" Izzy asked to them.

"All of a sudden, he started talking about how I hated him for killing my mom." Clary replied to her.

Then everyone crouched down by Alec as then Maryse runs up to him. "Alec?" She crouched down as well.

"It's okay." Magnus replied to her. "I sedated him when I pulled him off the ledge."

Then Jace looked at Maryse. "You know what, you stay away from him. You can't be trusted."

"I can't be trusted?" Maryse looked back at Jace. "Now you see why I was wary of having a party at a warlock's house."

Just then Simon walked out into the roof, too. "Wow. What's going on here?"

"Oh, what do you care?" Clary stood up and snarled at him. "Maia is at the bar."

"Yes, and Alec's on the ground." Simon looked at Alec, who's on the ground. "Is he gonna be okay?"

"You're all gonna be okay. Everyone just stay here. I'll be right back." Magnus told them as then he looked at his daughter. "Watch them, Marley." She nodded to him as then he walked back down to the party and opened a safe. He took the only book that's in there and came back up to the roof, where everyone there was arguing.

"What did you say to my son?" Maryse looked at Clary. "You don't think that Alec feels guilty enough…"

"You talked to Clary, didn't you?" Simon asked to Jace. "That's why she's acting all weird."

Magnus was going through the book as Jace replied to Simon. "Listen, I did nothing."

Maryse looked at Clary. "You bring him up here…"

"I did not bring him up here, I followed him." Clary interrupted her.

Everyone was arguing loudly as Marley was getting a head ache about them, then Magnus has found a spell and started to speak in French. Then he picked up a ball of magic out of the air and suddenly everyone is silent.

Jace looked at Maryse. "Mom…"

Maryse looked back at him. "Jace."

"Um, what's going on?" Simon asked to Clary.

"You okay?" Jace asked to Maryse.

"Simon… I am so sorry." Clary replied to Simon.

"I'm fine." Maryse replied to him.

"I know you didn't kiss Maia." Clary added, looking at Simon.

"You thought I kissed Maia? What happened here?" Simon asked confused, very confused.

"It seems a warlock has been having a little fun at our expense." Magnus replied to him, well, the last bit.

Maryse looked at Alec. "Is he okay?"

Alec opened his eyes. "What happened?"

"Alec…" Marley crouched down.

Just then Magnus closed his spell book as then suddenly it was gone. "Someone has taken my spell book." Magnus putted up his wards immediately.

"You're putting your wards up?" Clary asked to him.

"Nobody leaves until I get it back." Magnus replied to her as then he looked at the others and walked away into the apartment.

In the Living room, some guests that have been scanned by Magnus leave. The place was almost empty as then Magnus was now scanning Raj using his magic. "I was this close to lining up a three-way, and you guys let yourselves get spelled?" The scan was done and Alec pushed Raj out of the door.

"Is he the last one?" Jace asked to Magnus.

"It appears Marley and I are the only warlocks here." Magnus replied to him as then he lets his wards down.

"Magnus, what happens if we don't find your spell book?" Clary asked to him.

"That's not an option you wanna explore." Magnus replied to her. "That book can undo every spell I've ever cast. From the elementary to the complex. In new and old languages…" then he muttered in thought. "Champenois. It's an old French dialect." Then he spoke in French] "The red-haired cat." Magnus putted his wards back up. Then he went into the guest room, looking around. Everyone follows him.

"Magnus, what cat?" Alec asked confused.

Magnus gestured everyone to be silent and to look around, then he saw a lump under the duvet. Jace nodded and he pulled the duvet back, revealing the red-haired cat. Magnus blasted some magic while the cat runs away as then the cat turns into warlock Iris. "Duratus!"

Everyone freezes, except for Magnus and Marley as they both blocked the spell. "I hate party crashers." Marley was thankful that her father learned her magic, cause if not, she was frozen as well. Then they were back in the living room. Magnus blasted magic at Iris, throwing her against a bookcase. They continue fighting throwing balls of magic at each other, Marley only was in defense as her father attacked iris. Then Magnus hold Iris with his magic and lifted her up. "You haven't changed one bit since the last time I saw you crawling from the ruins of La Bastille. Old French spells. Your favorite. Where are my counter spells?"

"Valentine." Iris replied to him. "He has Madzie, too. If I don't go back, I don't know what he'll do to her."

"What does Valentine want with my counter spells?" Magnus asked to her.

"I don't know." Iris replied to him as then he used more magic. Then she shouted. "I don't know! All… all he said was that I had to get them for him. And I wasn't to harm Clary, or he'd make Madzie suffer. Magnus, please. I'm all Madzie has. Have mercy."

"After everything you've done?" Magnus asked to her as then he nodded to everyone in the guest room. "Release them."

Iris did what he told her to do and everyone came out walking to the living room. "Clary Fairchild, you made a blood oath. Find Madzie."

Then Magnus sends Iris away in a Portal. "She's the Clave's problem now."

"Okay, what is Valentine up to anyway?" Alec asked to Clary.

"I don't know." Clary replied to him.

Jace whispered to Clary. "It's too dangerous."

"Jace, they're our family. They need to know." Clary whispered back.

Izzy heard her as then she asked to them. "Know what?"

"The Angel Ithuriel. Valentine was going to use him to activate the Soul-Sword. He needs someone with pure angel blood to activate it." Clary replied to her.

"Well, that doesn't sound good." Simon comment to them all.

"It's not." Jace shook with his head. "With the Soul-Sword activated, Valentine could decimate the entire Downworld. The Angel showed us a vision of a demon who could destroy the Sword. If we could find that demon, we could stop Valentine."

Magnus looked at them. "How did you two save the Angel?"

Jace shook his head to Clary, but she told everyone anyway. "With runes the Angel gave to me."

"New runes, Magnus. Ones no one's ever seen before." Jace sighed.

Izzy looked at her friend. "Why did he choose you?"

"I have no idea." Clary shook with her head.

"I might. Years ago, a Silent Brother told me about a special connection the original Shadowhunters had with the Angel Raziel. That they could communicate from afar through… visions. Because they were created from his blood." Magnus explained it to them all.

"Are you saying that…" Alec trailed off, looking at Clary.

"Clary may have a blood connection to that Angel. And that must mean she has pure Angel blood." Magnus finished the sentence.

"That's why Valentine wants Clary unharmed. Clary can activate the Soul-Sword." Jace thought out loud.

"Well, that's not good." Marley muttered.
