Time for more shenanigans!
As always I own nothing, not even my own soul.
My eyes opened to find my mind scape; the smell of the ocean soothed some of my nerves. Behind me I noticed the landscape had changed, other than the harbor itself all manmade structures had vanished and in their place was a vast forest. I imagine this is what Boston might have looked like before it was settled…. Then again, I guess my planet was gone now, so it didn't really matter.
But that was not as important as the black wolf-like creature that sat in front of the tree line. "Risa, I am sorry for pulling you in, but we need to speak." The creatures massive tail thrashed behind it as its head tilted in curiosity.
I took a deep breath. The issues of the outside world could wait, it was about time I got to know my 'beast'. "Alright, ahh… buddy? Pal? Fam-"
A loud huff drove my rambling to a halt as the wolf waved its surprisingly humanoid hand through the air. "That is the first thing I wanted to discuss with you. As I am a creature created specifically for you, so it is YOUR job to name me."
I blinked at that before giggling like mad. Then I stopped when I realized it was serious. "oh. Okay I can handle that." I mumbled. "First off… uh… this is awkward but are you a guy or a girl?"
The beast blinked at me slowly. "I am neither. I exist as a conscious mass of chakra."
I nodded and scratched my chin. "Ok cool… that doesn't help but cool. Hmmm I guess for now ill call you… Farkas."
Another pause permeated the mental landscape as the massive creature seemed to think. "Farkas… you have named me… wolf, in a different language? Really?"
I scoffed in mock disgust. "It means 'He who is LIKE a wolf.' Not 'wolf', there's a difference!"
The creature seemed to consider something before continuing. "I was stuck with a rather unintelligent master, wasn't I?"
We both laughed at that. I relished in the peace of the moment, truly I haven't had much time to just LAUGH lately. "So." I mumbled over giggles. "'Farkas', whats the emergency?"
If possible, the large wolf looked sheepish. "well… in truth that was all I needed. OH! But you should know Kurama has added me to the tailed beasts chat frequency."
I tilted my head. "chat… frequency?"
"Ah." 'he' nodded sagely. "Sorry, the tailed beasts have a sort of… chakra-based radio frequency they use to chat with. It's a chakra thing. I just thought you should know that I'm in it now, and the one tails has a message for you."
The one tails? What did the tanuki want with me? "What message?"
"Apologies for it was rather… unclear." Farkas's tail swished in agitation. "Tell the bitch she owes me a drink."
For a moment I leaned against the pier confused, but as realization hit a smile split my face. "Pablo. That crazy bastard."
Before I could get any more information out of Farkas, I was suddenly yanked out of my mind scape by what felt like a powerful burst of chakra. Jumping up without thinking, I found myself nose to nose with an equally exasperated pink haired boy in hospital scrubs. Pulling back and letting out a breath I chuckled as Ichigo did the same. "Sorry, caught me by surprise there." I joked, but he dident seem to share my mood.
Oh, right… Jiraya.
"Hey… how-" Ichigo raised a hand to cut me off before I could say anything else.
"Lord Jiraya…" The pinket began. "He's… alive. He lost an arm and has some serious internal damage, but hes alive." He sat down in the chair next to me and put his head in his hands, a very tired sigh left his lungs as he practically collapsed into the chair. "Nearly half the hospital staff had to use nearly every drop of chakra we had just to keep him stable. It's a kami damned miracle he can still breath."
I let out my own sigh and leaned forward. "Well, at least he's alive. Is there anything else you can do for him?"
Ichigo gave a half assed smile. "Actually that's why I woke you up. Team 7 is going on a mission soon, you need to meet your team. Everyone's waiting just outside."
I groaned and stood up. "Great." I muttered. "Is now really the time for a D rank? Naruto must be heart broken right now…"
I felt the slap coming before it hit, but I was too tired to bother dodging. Ichigos hand hit me in the back of the head with a resounding smack. "Naruto's fine now that Jiraya is relatively stable, and just how long did you know about 'her'?!"
I gave an apologetic grin and a soft chuckle. "Somewhat recently, but you cant blame me for keeping it secret! That was Naruto's tale to tell."
Ichigo scoffed and gestured towards the door. "You need to get going, your mission is time sensitive. Also, you have a psyche Evaluation the second you get back. Your sensei said you would know why."
Ah crumbs. Seems that I was getting the work around for the whole. "Magical mystery tailed beast" deal. I waved goodbye to the pink haired boy and left the hospital. Just outside Sasuke, Kakashi, and a gloomy looking Naruto were having a chat.
"Ah, Risa. Finished your cat nap? Kakashi gave me an eye smile, but I was not in the mood for his 'cute' act.
"Sensei, not the time for cat jokes." I scratched my nose as I walked over and grabbed Naruto in a hug. "How you holding up Naruto?"
The blond gave a slight squeeze then pulled away. "Ill be fine, I was just freaked out by the blood y'know?"
Obviously, that hadn't been the only reason for her panic attack earlier, but I wasent about to dig up that rabbit hole. "Right, well what's this I hear about a mission? We haven't even officially gathered as a team yet."
Kakashi answered, a lazy look in his eye. "Its technically a C rank because its outside the village walls, but it requires Naruto specifically, so the council decided this would be a good first mission for you three."
A sideways glance my way told me all I needed to know. This was a test for ME more than the other too. if I screwed up there wouldn't be another chance. But I wasent worried, I needed to kill a damn demigod. I wasent about to fail by disappointing a council of civilians.
"Alrighty boss." I mock saluted my teacher. "whats the mission? Do I need to pack?"
Kakashi tossed a small pack my way, letting me strap it on my back before motioning us to follow him. "Lord Jiraya is injured and we don't have any medical ninja skilled enough to heal him." I realized where this was going before he finished, but I still had to cringe internally as he explained. "We will be meeting with Naruto's cousin Yoko in a nearby town. She's just about the best healer in the elemental nations so if anyone can fix up Lord Jiraya its her."
"Yoko?" I muttered. "Is she an Uzumaki?"
Naruto gave a soft gasp then chuckled awkwardly. "Crap, did I never mention her before? Na, she's a Senju."
Senju? I thought to myself. Wouldent that mean… "Lady Tsunade has KIDS?!" I then stopped. "Wait, so this Yoko is even better than Tsunade herself?"
Kakashi nodded his head and ruffled my hair as we approached the village gates. "I would say in combat Yoko is even stronger, but medically she's 'almost' as good. Not as good with poisons but we don't need to worry about that right now."
I huffed as Kakashi handed our mission clearance papers to the gate guards. "Well how come you never introduced me to this Yoko Naruto? She sounds fun!" I scratched my head as the Guards handed the papers back. "And how come I've never seen Tsunade? Wouldn't it be better to get her?"
I stopped as I realized I was suddenly getting a LOT of weird looks. Looking between my teammates and the ninja working the gate I realized I must have said something… odd.
"Uh… is there something I'm missing guys?" I backed away a few steps. "Seriously what did I say?"
"Risa." Naruto's voice was slow, almost condescending to a degree. "You know shes dead right?"
I felt my brain short circuit for a moment as I processed that. Dead? I KNEW I had searched the history books for major differences in this world from cannon
Naruto! How could I have missed THAT?! "was that… recent?" I practically whispered, the glares not letting up for even a second.
Naruto blinked owlishly at me. "Dude. She died, like, sixteen years ago. There's a big statue of her in the shinobi graveyard? Its like… twenty feet away from your father's grave? Are you fucking with us right now?"
Oh…. Maybe I needed to double check those history books… "I. am SO sorry." I muttered dejectedly. "I guess I never really go down there."
Naruto placed a hand on my shoulder as we all began walking out of the village gates. A novel moment for some, but I had more important matters on my mind. "Risa, I'm not mad, I'm just kind of surprised. You spend a lot of time with me and Jiraya, you really never hear him go on his rants about Tsunade?"
I shook my head, letting out a sigh. "How… how did she die? I swear I don't remember reading about that in class."
It was Sasuke who answered this time, breaking his uncharacteristic silence. "Well, it wasent in the books because it was considered… unnecessary, for children to be learning."
I cringed again at that. If the Ninja run academy said something unnecessary it either meant something really stupid, or something VERY bad. "What happened."
"Alcohol poisoning." Naruto, Kakashi sensei, and Sasuke spoke in a single deadpan voice.
I practically lost my footing just thinking about it. "Im sorry… the greatest medic nin in history died…. From over drinking?"
Kakashi kneeled down and pulled me close, looking directly me in the eyes. "fifty-seven barrels. FIFTY. SEVEN. BARRELS. Of FUCKING EVERCLEAR."
I couldn't respond to that even if I wanted to. Everclear? Why did that even exist here? Why had it existed in the real world?! I'm pretty sure it was illegal in at least 13 states in the U.S because it was quite literally 95% alcohol.
All things considered I'm fairly certain drinking 1 barrel should have killed a damn elephant. Fifty seven? Yeah… she deserved that statue.
The rest of the journey was held in relative silence for a decent amount of time, however after we were about an hour from the village I had another question come to mind. "So, Yoko, why does she not live in Konoha? She have something against the village?"
Kakashi waved me off yet again with a raised hand. "No nothing like that. She was one of the Daimyo's guards much like Obito was. She made a pitstop on her way home, we are just going down to convince her to come back now and drop whatever little 'Project' shes toying with."
"Project?" I huffed. "What kind of 'project' would she be doing in a small town like where we're heading?"
Naruto snickered as we cleared the hill we had been climbing. "Take a look."
Not that it was necessary to say anything, given the fact that the small town in the middle of nowhere was surrounded by the GREENEST shrubbery and trees I had ever seen. "Shes a wood style user I take it?"
"That would be correct Risa, top marks." Kakashi joked. "Come now my lovely Genin, lets get this mission done so we can do some actual training."
I scoffed, Sasuke huffed, and Naruto shook her head at that. "I want to grow strong more than anybody Kakashi sensei." Naruto grumbled. "But id rather make sure my Godfathers going to live past tomorrow before I hit the training grounds."
Kakashi gave a sly grin, or at least I assume he did under the mask. "Ill teach you all a new jutsu if you can get this mission done before night fall."
The three of us ran as fast as we could to that little town, and without even knowing what this 'Yoko' looked like, it wasn't too hard to find her. In the middle of the town a crowd was watching as a young woman danced around, shrubbery danced with her as a large tree shifted colors rapidly to the beat of her dancing. The woman was the spitting image of Tsunade, except her hair was brown, and her chest was much less impressive.
"YO! YOKO!" Naruto's voice carried over the laughing crowd and drew their attention to us.
"NARU! Oh my sweat baby!" I was blindsided as the woman I question seemingly teleported and slammed into Naruto at full speed. "What are you doing here!" Yoko exclaimed as she suffocated the poor blond girl.
"Hello Yoko." Kakashi seemed to have caught up with us.
"Oh." Yoko dropped Naruto and crossed her arms. "Naru I see you for the first time in years and you bring this jackass?"
The three of us glanced awkwardly between our teacher and our new... friend. Clearly there was a history here. They seemed to be the same age, though with Kakashi I couldn't really tell.
"Well." The spunky woman slapped Naruto on the shoulder. "Why are you all out in the boonies? Don't tell me you came all this way for little ol me?" she laughed as she said the words, but with a nod from the rest of us she choaked up. "Seriously? Okay whos dying."
"Your Father." I had seen that one coming from a mile away, but hearing the words out loud I choaked on my own tongue.
"Kakashi!" I chastised the Jonin. "Not the way to break that kind of news."
Yoko's cheery demeanor suddenly vanished, replaced by a look of seriousness that rivaled Danzo. "Walk and talk. Ill have my summons collect my things from the inn latter. What happened."
As we made our way back to the village proper Kakashi gave an abridged report of the fight that had happened. Jiraya had been sent to investigate a group of shinobi who had been making waves among the elites of all five major villages. When Kakashi said the word 'akatsuki' I had almost felt relived, finally something was sounding like cannon Naruto!
Then he explained that they turned out to be friendlies…. Which made me want to rip my hair out. Though it had explained why Konan had been casually standing in the hospital without Konoha ninja swarming her.
Apparently Jiraya had joined up with the Akatsuki to battle some kind of monster, Kakashi dident elaborate on that much, just that a group of S rank Ninja and Jiraya of the sanin had been laid out like a bunch of chumps.
I closed my eyes and focused inward. 'Hey Farkas. You think that monster might be one of our new oni friends?'
"Indeed." The chakra beasts voice rang out in my mind. "It is almost certain that this 'monster' must be some sort of oni, from the sound of it a high class one as well. That... will be an issue."
'A problem for later.' I replied. 'lets just focus on gaining power for now. We can worry about our objective when we have the strength to actually win.'
"Risa, you still here?" I stumbled as Sasuke's voice broke me out of my internal monolog.
"Oh, yeah sorry." I considered an excuse for a moment, but figured I had gotten into enough trouble from lying to my friends and family lately. "I was talking to my new friend." I placed my hand over my belly. It took a second, but Eventually Sasuke made an 'oh' face and took a few steps away.
"I thought I sensed another tailed beast." Suddenly Yoko was right next to me, looking me over in a way that when beyond just visual. "Strange, how did we get ahold of another beast?"
Kakashi coughed into his hand at that question. "Sorry but your guess is as good as ours. And its not one of the tailed beasts, its… something else."
This time Yoko took a few steps back and not so discreetly whispered to the white-haired man. "ah, and just how… secure, is the seal on her? Im not sensing any fuinjutsu on her other than some storage pouches."
"oh but that's the fun part." Kakashi grumbled. "Its not in a seal. Its just… chilling."
At that the whole group took a few steps away.
"Oh come on guys." I rubbed my eyes. "I told you, he's friendly!"
I couldn't hear exactly what they were saying, but the word 'cursed' seemed to get thrown around.
"Not funny." I grumbled
Suddenly Naruto got a weird look on her face. I recognized the look, she made it every time she spoke with Kurama. "Hey Risa did you know our tailed beasts can… communicate?"
I rubbed the back of my neck. "yeah mine mentioned that yesterday." I meant to say more, but Kakashi was giving me a look that made my mouth dry up.
Maybe mentioning that I had a direct line to other tailed beasts was a mistake.
"Risa, Naruto. I want the two of you to tone down the discussion of village secrets out in the open. Get me?" the two of us had the decency to look sheepish. Perhaps this WASENT the best place for this conversation. I was broken from my musings by our group suddenly coming to a halt.
"Sensei?" Susuke spoke up. "Is something wrong?"
"Yoko stay with the kids, I need to check this out." Kakashi vanished with a flash of dust and leaves. At first I was as clueless as the other two Genin, but then I felt something on the edge of my sensing range.
"Ms. Yoko." I looked over to the woman who clearly sensed the same thing I did. "Any idea what that could-"
I never finished as Kakashi was suddenly in view once again. But he wasent standing in the group, he was on his ass in the dirt. Without further warning a half dome of black wood appeared around me and my teammates. "Kids, if I say run, you run. understood?"
We could only nod as the 'enemy' came closer. Peeking around the corner of the wooden shield I saw what looked like a civilian, but it had red eyes, fangs, and this sickly purple aura to it.
Then I saw more of them.
At least 20 of the 'Gouls' stood in the area. The feeling of their chakra made me want to puke. If I had to describe it in one word, rot. Their chakra felt like rot. But among them…
'Risa.' Farkas called out. 'Those creatures are the bi product of an oni feeding on humans. That means there is an Oni among them.'
"I know." I spoke out loud, not bothering with keeping everything internal. "But which one is it?" Sasuke seemed confused but Naruto seemed to follow who I was talking to.
"Risa, you know whats going on?" Naruto questioned as Kakashi and Yoko readied themselves for a fight.
"Not… exactly. But I felt this aura before… with elder Danzo." That seemed to drop the mood.
Then I noticed the one I was looking for. Most of the gouls looked like they were civilians, but the one in the middle of the group had pulsing purple veins and one of its hands ended in a large claw. I really wanted to kill that thing because I figured it might drop me a prize, but I was in too much trouble as it was to be disobeying orders.
Not that my help was needed. After a moment the two Jonin seemed to understand that the creatures were not human, and in an instant nearly all of the gouls were gone. I couldn't here what she called it, but with one hand seal all 20 of the former humans had been impaled on pure black spikes.
"Woah." The three of us mumbled in awe. But just as I was about to come out from behind the barrier, I felt a deep sense of unease. "where's the big one?" I mumbled. Then I felt a chakra signature directly behind me.
Without thinking twice, I allowed chakra to flow through my body to enhance my strength and movement speed. I spun around and faced the creature as it charged at us. "WOLVES PAW!" I shouted as loud as I could, activation the Jutsu with a single hand sign and hopefully alerting the Jonin down the road. But once again instead of my usual claws, both of my arms transformed into essentially werewolf arms. Pure black fur, claws, and thicker, lean muscles took place of my normal thin human arms. I could also feel the tail hanging at my waist.
"Alright jackhole." I muttered as the Oni was feet away and closing. "Lets see how broken my special little friend here is." I had no more time for further banter as the creature lunged at me with its clawed hand. Raising my own 'paw' in a simple block I expected to get hurt, or thrown back…
I didn't expect to barely feel the blow.
To its credit, the creature seemed almost human with its look of shock. "Oh ho ho." I wrapped my hand around the arm I had blocked. "Your dead." With a strong squeeze I felt bone crunch under my grip, and then I punched as hard as I could with my free hand. The blow ripped right through its chest without much effort, and not an instant later its body slumped into purple goo.
"Risa." I heard from behind me. Turning around I saw Kakashi who seemed… strangely pleased. "That was a good job, and I think its safe to say you've proven you can handle that new 'ability' or yours well enough."
I smiled up at the older man. "does that mean I'm off house arrest.?"
The Cyclops closed his visible eye and sighed. "No, and for the love of kami don't smile like that. You remind me of Orochimaru when he gets a new shipment of condemned prisoners to experiment on."
I was going to make a witty retort, but I paused. "what was that second part?" I asked with a dazed expression.
Kakashi laughed. "Oh don't worry. They usually deserve it."
I had… many questions. But we had more important matters at hand. Recalling my chakra my arms turned back to normal, but strangely the tail remained.
"Hatake." Yoko arrived back at the group getting rid of the bodys. She had Sealed them all into a hunter scroll, probably to examine the purple goo. "What the hell were these things? Ive never seen anything like this."
"We don't know." Kakashi responded as he sealed the goo remains of the oni I had killed into another scroll. "all we know so far is that Danzo showed a similar… affliction, before he died."
Naruto and Sasuke shared a concerned glance at that. Then Kakashi motioned for us to move. "Were heading back to the village, fast as you can go kiddos. We need to report this activity straight away."
And fast we went. In only twenty minutes we managed to reach the gates of Konoha. "Yoko head to the hospital, your father takes priority over your report." The woman nodded sternly, then gave us a small smile. "well kids, ill see you later. Naruto you and I are getting dinner sometime this week to play catch up got me?" the blond nodded with a wide smile as she dashed away towards the hospital.
"Naruto, Sasuke. You two get moved your new house. Risa will join you after her evaluation." The two nodded and dashed off, and Kakashi nodded towards the T&I command building. "get to T&I, your psyche evaluation will happen there."
With that he dashed off, leaving me to my own devises. As I walked to my destination, I pulled out my tablet.
*Congrats! You Killed an Oni!*
*Would you like to transpose Oni core(Basic)?*
I hit yes, ignoring the people who stopped to stare at my tail.
Common- 10,000 Ryo: money. Spend it, wipe your ass, you do you pal.
Epic- Tengu mask: a mask baring the face of a guardian spirit. Greatly increases the effect of killing intent on gouls and weak oni.
I took the mask without a second thought. Not even for the power, I just really wanted it.
"Your later than Expected pup." My focus was torn away from the mask that now sat comfortably in one of my spare storage seals by a voice from the front door of the T&I building. I dident recognize the voice at first, but the face I definitely knew. Ibiki Morino? For a Psyche eval?
I was screwed wasent I?
Ushering me inside I was led to a room near the back of the building. I was just thankful it wasn't the basement. Did not need foreknowledge of this world to know what happened to people down there…
Entering the room that must have been Ibiki's office, the tall scarred man motioned for me to sit. "I am Ibiki Morino, head of T&I. I will be handling your evaluation this evening." The man spoke as he sat behind his desk. "Now tell me, how did your first mission go?"
"Well." I paused for a moment, thinking that the whole 'people infected with purple oze' thing might be something to keep on the down low, buuuuut then again this WAS one of Konoha's heads of intelligence. "We found the target easy enough and she was fully willing to come home as requested." I tried to sound formal, since this was basically my mission report. "But about halfway back we encountered some hostiles."
Ibiki dident show any visible reaction, but I could feel his chakra stir. "Hostiles? That close to the village?"
"Yes sir." I crossed my arms. "They looked like civilians…. But…. They were infected. There was this purple goo, and they almost seemed…"
The older ninja sat back in his chair and finished the thought out loud. "Feral. Like their higher brain functions were gone?"
I looked up and gave a curt nod. "Their chakra. It wasn't normal. And there was a leader in the group, it had this… mutation on its arm."
Ibiki closed his eyes and nodded along. "And your sensei, he took them all out correct?"
I made a so-so gesture and leaned back in my chair. "Yoko actually took most of them out. That woman is SCARY strong." The man huffed in amusement at that, leading me to believe the Senju had a… reputation. "I actually killed the mutated one though."
At that I felt his chakra shift again, this time like it was… tightening. "On your first mission? That must have been quite a shock."
I waved my hand in mock dismission. "I would hardly call that a kill. If I ever have to kill a person, I'm sure ill be screwed in the head for a while, but that… thing, was NOT human." I tried to play it off, but I realized… I really HAD killed someone. Did my Guardian power protect me from mental drawback's? if it did I hadn't noticed before.
"That's not a mindset you want going into battle Risa." The gruff man shook his head. "It may be true that this particular event was an exception, but if you go into battle telling yourself that the enemy isn't human-"
I cut him off with a raised hand, realizing where the conversation was heading. "Then ill end up turning into some bloodthirsty Psycho. I hear you loud and clear. I doubt my teams gonna run into any bad-guys on D rank missions sir."
Ibiki chuckled softly and nodded his head. "Still, you sure you're doing alright? Even if it wasn't human a first kill is a first kill."
At that I laughed. "I'm an Inuzuka, my first kill was on a hunting trip, and I promise you, nibbles the squirrel will haunt me forever."
The Jonin's chakra loosened a bit as he let out a good laugh at that. "speaking of dogs." His expression turned back to serious. "How is our new 'guest' doing?"
"Well." I pulled my tail up so he could see it. "He seems to be partial to keeping this hanging off my butt, but other than that he's friendly."
Ibiki took the tail in stride. "Friendly, to you personally? Or in general?"
"In general." I sighed. "Also, I don't think we need to worry about the lack of a proper seal."
At this the man leaned forward with a questioning tilt to his eyebrow. "And what makes you say that? Did your guest tell you not to worry?"
I shook my head and held a hand up. "Just watch." I focused inward and told Farkas to try and leave my body. Instead of a tailed beast appearing in the room however, it simply created a cloak of chakra around me. "See." I said as the cloak dissipated. I ignored that fact that Ibiki was discreetly hiding a kunai he had pulled out. "If he tries to leave, it just creates that cloak. I don't know exactly how, but he's stuck with me, and im stuck with him."
And it's not like I was lying. I dident know any of the science behind this divine cosmic crap, I just went along with it.
"Now for the main focus of this exam." Ibiki laid his chin on his hands. "How do you feel about the incident with your clan?"
I sighed. Figures that was a main concern. "I would be lying if I said I wasn't pissed off. Especially at my mother." I frowned and gazed up at the ceiling, taping my foot softly to calm my nerves. "But I get it. I don't agree with the decision of the elders, but I understand why they are upset. I AM a bit of a handful."
Ibiki nodded, sitting back up as he rubbed his chin. "That's good, that's very good to hear." He muttered. "But how do you intend to proceed? Doesn't it hurt you, the thought that you cant go home?"
I shook my head with a hollow smirk. "Its not like I've been officially disowned. The elders just don't want to suffer any fallout if I keep screwing up." I jabbed my thumb into my chest and grinned a wide smile. "Once they see what a great ninja I am, they'll be begging me to come back!"
The old interrogator seemed slightly disappointed at my answer, and in a moment I learned why. "Damn, I was hoping you dident know about that yet, I had a whole plan to spend the next hour screwing with you."
I sweat dropped at that. "sorry for the inconvenience then…" I muttered.
"Well the good news-"Ibiki let out a pulse of chakra, and suddenly a seal array became visible on the ground under me. I was impressed, usually I could sense seals, even hidden ones. "That you have passed this test. That under you? Want to take a guess what its function is?"
Just looking at it I had no clue what it did, but considering the context and our location… "Im going to guess this is some kind of lie detector?"
"That's correct kiddo." Ibiki pulsed his chakra, and the array disappeared. "your free to go home now, but your still not to leave the house unsupervised."
I stood up to leave, but turned around with a questioning gaze. "Ah that." Ibiki seemed to understand my silent question just fine. "You weren't under house arrest due to distrust; it was more for your protection."
I couldn't argue that. If the other villages heard that a random Konoha genin had somehow obtained a never-before-seen Tailed beast? For all I knew there was already a hefty price on my head. Speaking of that…
"Say, what would I need to do to get ahold of a bingo book?" I asked as I stood in the doorway.
Ibiki raised an eyebrow, but without asking me to elaborate further he reached into his desk and produced a small black book, tossing it to me. "Here, I keep a few on me. It will be good for you to memories the names in here, knowing an enemy can be the difference between life and death out in the real world." he wagged his finger at me with a knowing grin. "But don't go looking for trouble you hear?"
I gave a sly smile back. "Trouble tends to come for me no matter what I do sir."
Village counsel meeting- 2 hours later.
With members of theshinobi and civilian councils all present, a hushed tone took hold of the dimly lit chamber. "everyone, I am officially calling this meeting to order." Some scattered chatter and gossip silenced immediately as Shikaku Nara stood at the podium at the front of the room. "first order of business, Risa Inuzuka."
Tsume's hair stood on end at the mention of her daughter, but she remained silent, even as some council members sent odd looks her way.
"You will all be pleased to know that the situation has passed, and while details are classified for now, Risa and the unidentified chakra-based entity pose no threat to the village." Shikaku glanced at Tsume, who seemed visible relived by the news. "Next, there is the matter of the rumors surrounding Naruto Uzumaki. I want to clear this up now, Yes, Naruto is in fact female."
The council erupted into chatter, most of which was complaints as money was passed around. A few people had some bets going regarding the matter.
With a raise of his hand Shikaku silenced the chatter and restored order to the chamber. "Finally, as im sure you are all aware lord hokage is currently visiting the Daimyo's palace. What some of you may not be aware of, is that the fifth Hokage has been announced, and lord Hiruzen is officially retiring!"
More excited chatter rippled through the chamber, but it was quickly silenced. "On that note, Congratulations Itachi, for your promotion. I think I speak for all of us when I say we look forward to serving under you from now on."
Many council members rose and began to applaud, a few even openly cheered as they all turned to the Uchiha matriarch. "Ah, yes. Regarding that." Itachi began. "Actually, this may be a tad awkward."
Shikaku tilted his head and placed his hands in his pockets. "Awkward how?"
Itachi gave a soft smile and rubbed the back of his neck. "Well, I have decided to refuse the promotion."
The room became dead silent for a few seconds before a single word echoed through the room.
"Troublesome."
Eyyyyyyy. Another chapter! I need to do some serious editing, so there may be a few random updates over the next few days.
Now. Am very tired. SLLLEEEEEEEEEEP.
Character-Yoko Senju
Race- Human
Homeworld- Naruto dimension M.A.D726814
Backround- Last of the legendary Senju, Daughter of two of the sanin, wielder of the wood style bloodline, and one of the greatest combatants to grace the leaf since the first hokage.
Fun Fact- Yoko has an infatuation with nature and the world around her, and will often ignore some of her dutys to enjoy her outdoor hobby's. this is also a great weakness, as she tends to invest days, sometimes even weeks on her nature projects.
