Chapter 8

Once they reached the cabin Tony scooped Skye into his arms again taking her inside while Steve grabbed some bags from the jet, he looked around in wonder.

Tony went into the room that Skye stayed in while she was here last time and laid her on the bed she was still under so he didn't want to wake her, he stretched out her legs straight and tucked the bear into her side.

"So this is a nice place you got here Tony," Steve said looking around the living room putting down all the bags on the couch.

"Thanks, it was a secret guess it is out now, as long as she gets better it will be worth it," Tony said, Steve just nodded. They set up what Tony brought which was lots of food, some computer tech for Tony to update the cabin security and inside.

Steve was making some lunch when the cabin started to shake, his eyes shot to Tony, who was already running to Skye's room.

Tony opened the door and noticed Skye's eyes shut but tears streaming down her face, she was saying something though whispering a name,

"Mom please" Skye whimpered before Tony gently sat her up sitting behind her as his mom did for him, Steve was in the doorway watching carefully.

"Skye you're safe" Tony said hugging her to his chest, Skye's eyes shot open first looking at Steve then looking up at Tony he smiled at her,

"You are safe Skye, but you are going to bring my cabin down, and I just updated the system" he tried to laugh but her face just feel to her hands, she clenched her fists together before Tony forced her hands back open,

"No, you are not going to direct it inward Skye, you need to let go breathe with me and let it go"

"It's too much" she wept harder but Tony just kept her against his chest.

"Breathe with me Skye, let it out, let it go" he tried again and he felt her slowly start to take deep breaths calming down and the shaking finally stopped. Tony nodded to Steve and Steve went back to making lunch for all of them.

Tony released Skye and let her sit up against the backboard and came to sit in front of her on the bed, he took the bear and handed it to her smiling.

"Want to talk about it?" he asked her and she just stared at the bear holding it.

"I don't even know where to start, I am guessing Coulson told you some of it?" She looked at him, eyes still puffy and he nodded.

"He told me about how you found your parents but lost them again, I am sorry for that Skye" she just nodded,

"I was so happy to find out they were looking for me, for years they searched. They didn't give up on me like I thought they did. It all fell apart so quickly" tears started to fall again and Tony gripped her hand letting her continue.

"She tried to kill me" she tilted her head back looking at the ceiling,

"After we finally found each other she tried to kill me because what she was doing was cruel and wrong, and I wanted to stop her" Skye looked at him but he just held her hand squeezing it lightly.

"My dad saved me, she was draining my life but he saved me and killed her. The worst part is that he did all of that, but still had to have his mind erased. He won't ever know me again, but he also won't remember all the horrible things he did. I just found my family and lost them just as fast" She sagged a little, but Tony lifted her chin,

"You have Coulson who is pretty much your dad I hear, and also May who was all protective momma bear earlier. Most importantly Skye you have me, I will always look after you no matter what you aren't alone you have a lot of people who love and care about you. So what we aren't blood that doesn't change anything!" He said and Skye just nodded.

"I called them both mom and dad to just see how it felt, better than Jaying and Cal, and for that brief moment it was nice" Tony's head shot up at that name Jaying, it couldn't be, couldn't be the same person though.

"Her name was Jaying?" Skye nodded,

"Yea they had me in China in the Hunan Province. They told me about the night I was born and that I was born almost two months early apparently I couldn't wait to meet them" Skye started to tear up again.

"Do you want to keep talking about them?" Tony asked maybe he could get some more information but he wouldn't push Skye. She shook her head though,

"I don't think I can right now, I just feel numb," she told him honestly and he finally stood up,

"Well numbness still needs to eat and I am having Captain America of all people cook you lunch so you better be nice and eat some unless you want to hurt the old man's feelings" Tony winked and she just glared

"You brought him here just for that reason didn't you" he just smiled at her

"You can either shower first or come like that, either way, we don't care," He said moving to the door, Skye just shook her head and stood up wincing a little.

Skye slowly walked into the kitchen and sat down on the barstool watching none other than Captain America himself cook some grilled cheese sandwiches and soup. Steve finally turned around looking at Skye smiling wide.

"I am Steve Rodgers, nice to meet you ma'am" he wiped his hands on a napkin and reached out his hand to her, she took it shaking it slightly,

"I'm Skye, nice to meet you" her voice was a little raw but Steve smiled anyway silently getting her a glass of water and setting it down next to her before going back to the stove. Skye nodded her thanks and took the water slowly drinking.

Tony finally came over with a tablet sitting next to Skye watching her carefully, Skye noticed.

"Don't worry tin man I won't bring your cabin down" Tony smiled at that, she was at least attempting some humor.

"Please don't, I finally just upgraded the security here look" Tony slid the tablet over to her she started going through the codes looking at them thoroughly and slightly changing some stuff, she held up her hand as soon as Tony tried to take the tablet back,

"You need to upgrade a couple of codes, looks like you are a little rusty" Skye's mouth slightly shifted upwards and Tony almost teared up at that small smile. Just as she was finishing up Steve walked over with three plates of food.

"You really didn't have to cook Cap," Skye said as her stomach growled a little blushing a little embarrassed.

"It was no trouble at all, and this is pretty much the only thing I can cook right. Coulson even gave me his secret recipe to make grilled cheese." Skye's eyes shot to his,

"He gave you the recipe? He wouldn't even give me it when he first made me this" Skye actually smiled again though of course Coulson gave him the recipe. Steve laughed a little,

"I didn't even have to ask for it" Steve smiled, and Skye rolled her eyes at that,

"Of course you didn't, he is probably still fanboying over you" Tony put his hand on his chest,

"He never did that for me" Tony acted offended and Steve just laughed and Skye let out a small laugh as well. Skye looked at Tony and Steve,

"Thank you," she told them both finally picking up her sandwich and taking a bite. She almost moaned it was so good, just like the one Coulson made her when she first got powers.

"Anytime kid" Tony and Steve shared a smile as they watched Skye actually eat.
