The tournament continued with Iris and Cilan winning their respective battles, which means they won't have to do anymore battles until tomorrow.
Ash: So, what should we do to pass the time?
Goh: Not sure, how about we head over to Chargestone cave, I heard about some unique Pokémon over there
Iris: Why are you so obsessed with catching pokemon? I mean, you have three Dustox
Goh: Hey, that was purely by luck
Iris: Whatever, anyway, let's get going
The group got to Chargestone cave via flight, and they were soon inside the electric cave. Immediately, Goh and Cinderace began searching around for any possible Pokémon they could catch, however they weren't having much luck.
Goh: Why isn't there any Pokémon here?
Cilan: That sure is strange, what could be the cause of this?
Ash: Poachers, that what
Ash and Pikachu sprinted deeper into the cave, ready for a fight ahead.
Goh: These guys must really hate poachers
Iris: Indeed they do
Eventually, the group found out that Team Rocket was using some sort of contraption that drew all of the Chargestone Pokémon in via electromagnetism.
Ash: Alright guys, surrender, or you will get an even more painful blasting off than usual
Jessie: Ha, not likely twerp, these Pokémon are going to be for the boss
James: And there is nothing you can do with that Pikachu, since our machine can draw in electric pokemon
Ash: You morons always overlook something one way or another, which is what I am going to take advantage of, go Dracovish!
Dracovish was released, and the bumbling grunts were astonished by the fossil abomination.
Jessie: Ugh, what IS that thing?!
Jessie: Whatever is it, I wouldn't want to meet with it in a dark alley
Meowth: Who cares, it's a Pokémon, so let's catch it
Both: Right
They both sent out a Klang and Zebstrika, but their attack flops when they too were dragged into the machine.
Jessie: What!?
Ash: You said it yourself, that machine draws in Pokémon that can use some form of electricity, now Dracovish, use Fishious Rend
Iris: Fishious Rend? never heard of it
Cilan: Well we're about to see it
Dracovish's jaws glowed a watery blue, and it charged forward. Team Rocket huddled together in fear at the coming fossil Pokémon, and they were soon sent flying by the powerful biting attack. Not only did the power of Fishious Rend send them flying, but it also destroyed the machine with the moisture it caused, short circuiting the machine, and destroying it.
Jessie: Not fair, that machine was rigged
James: Well that's what happens when you set it to the random setting
Meowth: Well one thing is for sure
Team Rocket: WERE BLASTING OFF AGAIN!
Cilan: Wow, they were sent through the roof
Goh: Well the good news is that the Pokémon are all now free
As they set the critters free from the net, Ash saw a little Joltik come up to him. Ash could immediately tell from the look the attaching Pokémon was giving that he wanted to come with him. So, Ash took out a pokeball and caught Joltik in it.
Goh: Wow, you're lucky
Ash: Meh, I do need a new electric type, no offense Pikachu
Pikachu: None taken
Goh proceeds to catch himself a Ferroseed and Klink, before the group left, they stopped to gather information on the electric rocks around the caves that give it its namesake.
Ash: Alright, that should be enough data, let's head back to NImbasa City
The next day
The matchups were revealed as Ash was facing off against Cameron, Iris was going up against Luke, and Cilan was facing Goh. Ash and Cameron faced off against each other, where the latter gloated about how he would win against Ash again.
Ash: I was careless Cameron, but now will be different
Cameron: Let's just hope you can deliver, Lucario go!
Ash: Pignite, battle time
The two fighting types appeared and stared each other down.
Referee: Begin
Cameron: I'll start, Lucario, begin strong with Aura Sphere!
Lucario fired a blue orb of aura at the fire pig Pokémon, but Ash was ready, as he had his own Lucario.
Ash: Pignite, use Focus Blast
Pignite concentrated all of his current energy into a whitish blue ball, and then fired it with great force. The resulting projectiles caused a massive explosion.
Cameron: Lucario, use Bone Rush
Ash: Pignite, use Brick Break
Both Pokémon charged with a blue bone weapon, and white glowing hoof respectively. They both clashed fiercely, refusing to give each other side a break. It appears to be evenly matched, however, this is what Ash had wanted.
Ash: Now, use Flamethrower
Pignite fired a stream of flames from his snout, and with Lucario practically right in front of it, he took quite a bit of damage.
Cameron: Grr, that's it, no more holding back, Lucario, move in with Close Combat
Lucario charged forward and proceeded to hammer Pignite with everything he has, forcing the fire fighting type to defend.
Ash: Come on Pignite, show your true power, LIKE A REAL FIRE TYPE POKEMON!
Pignite's eyes flashed, and he began glowing blue, you all know where this is heading.
Cue Jakob Elevator from Megaman X8
Pignite's arms grew longer and bulkier, a bright red fire appeared on his chin and, and tusks began to form in his gums. When the glow dissipated, an Emboar appeared and released a mighty roar.
Ash: Alright Emboar, that's what I'm talking about
Emboar gave his trainer a hoof up, and head back into the action.
Freddy: Incredible, so far, Ash's pokemon had evolved during a match
Don George: It was thanks to Ash's words however, that Pignite evolved
Cameron: Alright Lucario, Emboar will be a tricky opponent to fight, so be careful, use Bone Rush
Ash: Emboar, use Hammer Arm
Emboar tensed his right armed, now glowing with fighting type energy, and it clashed with Lucario's double Bone Rush attack.
Ash: Emboar, used your weight to root yourself down
The mega fire pig used his heavier body mass to turn himself into an unmovable object, rendering any movement made by Lucario useless.
Cameron: Dang it, Lucario stand back
Lucario did a backflip away from Emboar, just in case Emboar would do anything.
Cameron: Now, use Reversal
Ash: Flame Charge
Both Pokémon charged into each other, pushing with as much strength as possible to get the upper hand. However, this stalemate was broken when Emboar used his larger size to essentially squish Lucario, and after he lifted himself up, Lucario was shown to have fainted.
Referee: Lucario is unable to battle, Emboar wins, the match goes to Ash
Ash: Alright, we did it!
Emboar scooped up Ash in a bear hug, while Cameron propped Lucario up with his shoulder.
Cameron: You ok Lucario?
Lucario: I'll live, I'm sorry I failed you
Cameron: No, I should to blame, I got too cocky, but we won't make the same mistake next time we face him, that I promise
Back with Ash's group, Ash's unova team congratulated Emboar on his evolution, and he began to size up both Seismitoad and Krookodile.
Cilan: Looks like we have a new spicy rivalry cooked up, such flavor
Goh: Ok seriously, why do you talk like that?
Ash: He works part time as a chef basically
Then, it was time for Cilan to face off against Goh. It is revealed that Cilan now had a Jumpluff, meanwhile Goh decided to use Flygon, thinking that his dragon type could take on a grass type.
Referee: Battle begin
Goh: Alright Flygon, use Dragon Rush
Cilan: Jumpluff, use Cotton Guard
Flygon was surrounded by a blue draconic aura, and charged at the cotton Pokémon, however, the grass type surrounded itself with very sturdy cotton, which blocked the attack.
Goh: Darn, we can't use any of our ground attacks, what else do you have?
He checked his rotom phone to analyze his Flygon's moves, then he saw something that could work.
Goh: Aha, Flygon, use Rock Slide
Flygon summoned a volley of rocks, which Jumpluff was forced to dodge. Goh then seized the initiative, and hopped the hot mile with it.
Goh: Now, use Dragon Rush
Because Jumpluff didn't have its Cotton Guard up, it was damaged heavily by the attack. Goh though he was the upper hand, but Cilan was still standing there with a calm expression.
Goh: Shouldn't you be worried?
Cilan: You see, because of my role as a gym leader, I have to come up with solutions to problems like this, Jumpluff, Sunny Day
Jumpluff got back up, and made the sunlight very bright.
Cilan: Now, follow it up with Synthesis
Jumpluff then used the power of the sunlight to heal all of the injuries it sustained, leaving Goh in a state of shock.
Cilan: Now, use Solarbeam
The grass type then absorbed the sunlight into a powerful beam of grass type energy, which he then launched. This resulted in a bunch of damage that knocked out Flygon.
Referee: Flygon is unable to battle, Jumpluff wins, the match goes to Cilan
Goh rushed to his Flygon, making sure it was ok.
Flygon: Sorry I failed you Goh
Goh: Don't be, I am the one to blame, I got too cocky, and though that typing matters
As the match ended, Ash tended to his freshly caught Joltik, watching the match.
Ash: Looks like Goh still has a lot to learn
