Volume 01 Ending Notes

Ending Notes explaining how Vegeta's Pathifery Powers influenced the flow of events within the story of Volume 1: The Legendary Destroyer Arrives on Earth!

What is Pathifery?

The power to warp reality based on one's instincts, feelings, and emotions, rather than actual coherent thoughts or words. The user manipulates reality not through conscious thoughts or words, but through their base feelings and emotions. One with this ability can induce occurrences and abilities based on their feelings, and simply wanting something to happen badly enough. (via Superpower Wiki)

This is the main ability of the titular character of the series, Vegeta and the central plot driver of the series. Most events in the fanfiction light novel are a manifestation of Vegeta's subconscious desires and emotions. We can actually say that Vegeta controls the flow of the entire story but because he is not aware of his powers, he didn't know that he directly influence the flow of the universe.

Power Manifest!

- In this section, we explore the manifestations of Vegeta's Pathifery Powers within the volume.

The Wish of Prince Vegeta

- When Vegeta told Nappa he would find a way to get stronger and beat Freeza one day, this eventually caused him to discover about the Dragon Balls some time later.

- When Vegeta said he knew that it was Freeza who destroyed Planet Vegeta all along, him suspecting it was Freeza's doing had something to do with his belief that his race deserved to be destroyed by the very person strong enough to subjugate them. That is Freeza. This belief of him eventually turned out to be true after all.

The Arrival and the Pride of Prince Vegeta

- When Goku opposed Vegeta, it was a fulfillment of Vegeta's wish to fight a strong opponent while being on Earth. And because Goku is a Saiyan like himself, he wished that Goku be able to give him a good fight while he punish him for not fulfilling his Saiyan duty to wipe out humanity.

- When Vegeta powered up and made the entire world tremble as if it feared him and his power. While Vegeta thinks it is because of his abnormally high power level, in fact, the Earth's reaction to his power up is a direct effect of his Pathifery powers going out of control. He wanted to intimidate Goku by showing him his power. He wanted Earth to fear him and to hear the screams of the Earthlings as he bring devastation to the world with just a mere power up.

- When Vegeta was losing his cool after Goku used Kaioken times three, there was a scene where Vegeta thought that if he lose control then something bad might happen if he is blinded by his own rage. Yet when he finally gave in and didn't care anymore, it caused him to go into a Berserk rampage. When he decided to destroy the Earth with his Galick Gun and thought he didn't care about the Dragon Balls anymore, he subconsciously wished that Goku be strong enough to stop him because he inwardly still wanted to make his wish with the Dragon Balls. This actually showed that Vegeta has somehow begin to 'like' the challenge given to him by Goku and he would still love to continue fighting him. After all, he still had his Oozaru transformation to show Goku off.

The Great Transformation of Prince Vegeta

- While Vegeta could have simply wished for the time of the day to suddenly shift to night by changing the speed of the Earth's rotation through his Pathifery powers so that the full moon could appear before him if he wanted to, it didn't happen because Vegeta knew there was a way for him to create an artificial source of Blutz waves via the Power Ball technique. Of course, he wanted to show off to Goku why he was hailed as the Elite Prodigy of the Saiyans so he had to inflate his ego by trying to explain the process of the Oozaru transformation. He definitely enjoyed that look on Goku's face.

- The Z fighters appearing to save Goku is a direct fulfillment of Vegeta's wish to make Goku suffer once he begins to attack them. This is mainly due to him feeling insulted when Goku said that what he was doing was wrong.

- The moment Bulma threw that rock on Vegeta in an attempt to save Goku, Vegeta already decided that he would like to make that woman suffer for what she'd done. Subconsciously, Vegeta has set up a fate that would bring the two of them together. He actually liked the woman that he eventually formed a bond with her (thus, the reason why he felt her pain when he attacked her) and chose her to be on his side. Thus, Bulma's almost near death by his own hands being the trigger to Goku's Super Saiyan transformation, being the reason why Vegeta suffered his first loss in battle and slashing his pride to ribbons, and even Bulma being the one who will take Vegeta home were all set up by Vegeta's subconscious desire to be with her.

The Downfall of Prince Vegeta

- When Vegeta was losing to Super Saiyan Goku, he fell into a trance, a sign that he is about to destroy the universe and recreate a new one. He actually didn't expect for Goku to transform into the Legendary Super Saiyan and he cannot accept the fact that he was outclassed by a low class Saiyan warrior. Goku was able to prevent this by slapping him and snapping him out of the trance. And since Vegeta knew he is no match against the Super Saiyan, he accepted the fact that he is utterly defeated.

- After the battle, Vegeta didn't want to die or leave the Earth, thus setting things up with Goku destroying his spaceship and sparing him for some reason. In the end, Vegeta's earlier anger about Goku not understanding why he does evil things were eventually understood by Goku himself because that's his subconscious wish. Vegeta needed to live so he could have his revenge, with Goku being able to achieve Super Saiyan might while being on Earth, he was especially curious what this planet had to offer for Goku to have such power. And as mentioned above, he chose Bulma to take care of him while he is on Earth.

And because Vegeta isn't aware of his Pathifery powers, he doesn't know that all of these things happened because deep inside his heart and mind, these are what he truly wanted to happen. He is completely unaware that he caused all of these.

Other Explanations:

- Since Kami is a deity, and a Namekian himself, he knows exactly what Vegeta could actually do and his Pathifery powers. His access to the realm of the deities gave him the information that Vegeta is the one mentioned in the prophecy seen by Yogengyo.
- Since Piccolo is Kami's darker counterpart, their thoughts are connected with each other. Thus the reason why Piccolo knows so much information about Vegeta's Pathifery ability.

- In this story, Saiyans have their own unique special ability as mentioned in The Arrival of Prince Vegeta. The only abilities directly stated in this volume are Vegeta's Pathifery powers, his ability to protect his mind from users of powers that directly affect the mind, and his power of superiority over all Saiyans (which will be explained with later volumes). Goku's mind reading ability is also one special ability exclusive only to him. Other Saiyans have their own special power as well, but not all Saiyans can have it. Other special powers will be explored in later volumes as to not spoil the readers.

- As to why Vegeta's Pathifery powers didn't grant his more open ambitions and desires like, obtaining the Dragon Balls to wish for eternal life, be the strongest warrior in the Universe, be strong enough to destroy Freeza and rule the cosmos, had something to do with his pride and common sense, as explained by Piccolo in The Dangers of Prince Vegeta. Since he is unaware of his Pathifery power, he believed that all these things could be achieved in his own way and his own terms. That's why all these things didn't happen despite Vegeta wanting these things so badly. (What would happen if Vegeta didn't have his pride and common sense? All these things would be fulfilled!)
- Vegeta's pride is the only thing keeping the entire Universe intact but after that pride was slashed to ribbons after his defeat on Earth, Vegeta's Pathifery powers would manifest more frequently than ever before! Thus, the turn of events that would lead to the misadventures of Bulma, Goku and the Z fighters! Beginning on Volume 2!
