Third person view

A lone hyena drank from the stream that separated the Pridelands from the Outlands. It was the only water source around that he knew of.

Suddenly he heard a crack as something stepped on a twig. His head shot up as he scanned behind him. Last thing he needed was to get ambushed by a leopard or a rival hyena. But he seen nothing so he went to go back to drinking.

He turned his head but just seen a flash of green slam into him. It forced him back onto his back before it grabbed him by the front of his neck and threw him forwards into the water.

The mysterious beast then tackled him and held him under the Croc infested waters for a few seconds before throwing him back onto land.

When the hyena finally had a moment to breathe he seen that his attacker was the human of the Pridelands.

"Where is the Hyena lair?" DJ ordered pointing the shotgun at the hyena. After a few seconds of silence DJ hit the hyena hard with the butt of the gun.

"I will take your head off with this and move on to the next one I find. Now where is it?!" DJ asked through gritted teeth. He had already looked all around the Graveyard with no signs that they were ever there.

"Okay, okay. It's in the volcano" the hyena said scared. DJ stood up and walked away a few feet before he turned back to the hyena.

"Do yourself a favor, don't go and warn them. Because you don't wanna be there when I get there" DJ said before he turned back and started walking towards the volcano once more.

Once he was out of sight the hyena immediately ran away towards the Graveyard.

Inside Priderock was so silent that you could hear a pebble drop. Kopa was still sleeping off the medicine that Rafiki had given him to ease his pain. While he did, Nala, Simba, Sarabi and Sarafina had been discussing what Rafiki had told Simba and DJ.

"Kiara will have to start her lessons immediately to catch up to where she should be. So will Kopa lead the Lion Guard then?" Sarafina questioned. Simba shook his head.

"No, at best he'd be a royal adviser if he wants to be. Rafiki said that our next child will be the next leader of the Lion Guard" Simba replied before his gaze found his son.

"I still don't know how to tell him when he wakes up. Being king is all he's know... And I don't want to create another Scar" Simba said. Sarabi decided to lighten the mood.

"Where's DJ? He's always had more luck talking to teenagers" she said as the three lionesses laughed while Simba tried to stop himself from laughing as he thought about his teenage years.

"I don't know, I haven't seen him since Rafiki told us about the news... But he's probably just out trying to process what's happening like us" Simba said. Sarafina looked outside and seen it was sundown.

"Still it's starting to get dark, he should've been back by now" Sarafina said worried about her mate. Simba nodded.

"That's why I sent Nuka and Chumvi to find his scent and make sure he is okay" Simba reassured the elder lioness. She went to nod when suddenly Chumvi and Nuka came running into the cave.

"Simba!" Chumvi yelled gaining the entire pride's attention. Simba met Chumvi halfway as he and Nuka panted.

"We found... DJ's scent... but it went... into the Outlands" Chumvi said panting. Simba's face went into shock as he began to think 'would DJ really do something like that.'

It didn't take five seconds before Simba was rushing out of the cave with several lionesses behind him.

DJ stopped walking and sat just behind a rock. He had made it to the volcano which was easier said than done with the large amount of hyenas that were roaming the area. If he used the gun then the ones he was after would hear it and go into hiding.

If he used his knife it would be more silent. But sooner or later, one would find the dead bodies.

So he just stuck to creeping around in the shadows and staying out of sight. Which was both easier and harder with the disappearing sun.

He peaked over the rock and seen a few hyenas walking and lazing around. DJ crouched back down and sighed. What he would give for a Timon and Pumba distraction.

Suddenly he heard galloping and yipping. He looked back over and seen a young gazelle weaving through the hyenas. It must've got separated from his herd and found himself in the Outlands.

Immediately all the hyenas outside jumped up and ran after the free meal. DJ smiled as he seen his opening and quickly took it running to the entrance.

Once inside he seen the one he was after. Banzai.

He was sleeping on a ledge while others slept on the floor. As DJ walked towards the hyena leader, some of his scent hit the noses of a few hyenas causing them to wake up and lift their heads.

DJ, seeing this, quickly ran at Banzai who luckily was still sleeping.

"Banzai!" A hyena shouted, causing the hyena to life his head. However he was too late.

DJ quickly made sure the safety was on on the shotgun before he grabbed the barrel and used it like a bat. The attack caused Banzai to be thrown off of his ledge and into the middle of the lair.

But before he could even lift his head, cold steel pressed against his chest. Looking up he seen the same human that he and his old clan tried to kill all those years ago.

"Anybody moves, I pull this trigger and he dies!" DJ yelled as all the hyenas stopped advancing. Even though they didn't really like following a male, he was the best choice. Especially since Shenzi's pup didn't have her brains.

DJ kneeled down and stared the hyena in the eye.

"Now I'm gonna ask you a question and then I have a statement. First, who's the hyenas that kidnapped Kopa?" DJ asked in a calm voice.

"What?" Banzai said. DJ immediately loaded a bullet into the shotgun making a loud sound. It already had a bullet in the chamber, but DJ knew that the sound would get them to talk.

"The hyenas who kidnapped Kopa, who are they!?" DJ repeated, this time a little louder. Banzai shook his head.

"I don't know what you're talking about. I swear" he said scared. DJ looked in his eyes and moved his finger to the trigger. But he seen the truth in Banzai's eyes. He really didn't know what happened or what he was talking about.

"I believe you" DJ said flipping the safety on, making the hyena let out a sigh of relief. "But now for my statement" DJ added making the hyena's smile dissappear.

"If for some reason the hyenas who did kidnap my grandcub do cross your path, send a message for me. 'If they want to fight me, fight me. But leave my family the * alone" DJ said before he pulled the shotgun away from the quivering hyena and began making his way through the crowd.

Suddenly one hyena jumped at the human, however DJ knew that at least one would try and get the jump on him. He pointed the shotgun at the hyena and pulled the trigger, sending the hyena back with a new hole in his chest and spraying DJ with blood.

After that, no hyena dared to try anything. So DJ just walked right on out of the volcano and back towards the Pridelands.

As he walked he realized that the sun had gone down completely and a few clouds had rolled in, covering the moon and making it harder to see in the dark abyss.

So he shouldered his shotgun and un-shouldered his M16 that had the flashlight. He turned it on and held his rifle at the ready.

As he walked he look up and seen a darker spot in the sky. He didn't even bother shining his light at it as he knew who it was.

"Evening sir" Zazu said landing on DJ's shoulder as DJ nodded.

"You know after working for you for nearly a year, I've learned that not every time you're covered in blood it's always yours" Zazu said as DJ chuckled.

"Yeah, just had a talk with the hyenas. Make sure Simba doesn't lead the pride out here, I'm just gonna wash up and then I'll be home" DJ said. Zazu nodded and flew off into the night.

DJ made it to the river that separated the Pridelands from the Outlands. He shined the light up and down the river looking for any eye shine from the crocs that called the river home.

After seeing nothing DJ went over to a shallow spot that only came up to his knees. He wasn't stupid enough to wash off the blood in this one. He'd do that either in the Pridelands main watering hole or the one closer to Priderock.

He just got to the other side of the river when it happened. All he heard were three splashes. By the third splash he was halfway turned, however he wasn't fast enough and took the hit to the side.

Despite nearly facing his attacker, DJ couldn't even see what it was thanks to the lack of moonlight.

He fell onto his back and immediately he felt teeth clamp onto his forearm as it's head began to shake side to side like a dog does. So DJ assumed that it was a hyena who had been stalking him since the volcano.

However DJ could kick or lift hyenas off him with ease. This one, he barley even got the body off of his own.

So he decided to switch tactics and fight dirty. With his free hand he grabbed some sand from the bank and threw it where the eyes should be. And it must've been where they are because the thing immediately let go and let out a yelp, confirming DJ's suspicions about it being a canine.

He reached for his shotgun only to discover it missing from his shoulder. DJ got onto his hands and knees looking for it or his automatic. After a few seconds he seen the flashlight and the end of the barrel from his M16.

He quickly crawled towards it however he got within a foot of reaching it and his leg was grabbed and he was dragged back a few feet.

DJ quickly turned over onto his back and began kicking at the mysterious beasts head. However it's jaws were like a a bear trap, not letting go.

Thinking quickly DJ grabbed his knife before he brought his leg towards him, the animals weight just making his upper body move.

He brought the knife down and was thankful when he didn't feel any pain in his leg other than the teeth which soon retracted.

However he was then lifted clear off the ground as the animal reared up in pain. With his weight being what it was, DJ was thrown forwards with his knife still in hand. But when he came to a stop because of the knife, DJ heard a loud metallic snap and was sent flying through the air. To DJ it was like he had just grabbed the back of a Grizzly's scruff.

He landed on the ground with a thud stunning him for a few seconds. He groaned and rolled around before he felt something cylinder, long and metallic. He grasped his hand around the object and was relieved when he recognized it as a gun barrel.

Knowing that his M16 was on the other side of the creature DJ knew it was his shotgun. He found the butt of the gun and quickly turned and let out three loud shots in the direction where the animal just was.

However he heard nothing. No whimpers, no yelps. So he quickly found his M16, thanks to the light again and quickly ran for it, shouldering his shotgun.

He grabbed it and didn't even bother getting it in position to fire. He just grabbed the middle of it with his free hand and used the light to see where he was going.

He looked at his knife with his flashlight and seen that the entire blade was now missing. He threw the useless handle away just so he had a free hand to fight if the hyena again.

He ran for a few more minutes before a figure bursted out in front of him. He quickly raised the gun and shouted at the figure about to shoot it.

"DJ, it's us, it's us!!" Chumvi said getting ready to jump out of the way of the bullets. DJ dropped his guard and let the gun barrel fall so it was pointing at the ground. He seen both Simba and Chumvi here.

"There's something out here" he panted. The two lions nodded and came to their guardian's aid, each one taking a side and helping him walk back to Priderock.

"We know, we heard the shots and came running. What was it?" Simba asked. DJ shook his head.

I'm not sure, thought it was a hyena. But it was big, way bigger than a hyena he said as he leaned against the two.

Once they got back they set him by his normal resting place as Rafiki came over and began examining him.

"Well, nothing appears to be broken. However I must say, I've never had a more repeat animal like yourself, DJ" Rafiki joked earning a small laugh out of the human while he hugged his cubs.

He seen Kopa was now away and was talking with Vitani and her friends. He looked over at DJ and smiled before sending a nod in his direction. DJ smiled and nodded back.

However Rafiki rubbed his chin in confusion. DJ caught this look and became worried.

"Everything... Okay?" DJ asked both wanting and slightly not wanting an answer.

"Can you please go over with prince Kopa and Vitani please" Rafiki requested. DJ was confused but stood up with Nyota still in his arms and walked over to the two teenage lions.

He sat down next to Kopa as Rafiki came up and began inspecting all of the recent wounds.

"DJ, your other arm please" Rafiki said. DJ was now very confused as he wasn't hurt on the other arm, but brought it up anyway.

Rafiki then put the two forearms close together and DJ seen what he was doing. He was comparing the bite he just got with the scar he got from years ago.

"Whoa" DJ said seeing the marks for himself. The one he just got today was twice as wide as the old one. He couldn't tell lengthwise because both animals jaws were big enough to wrap around his arm.

" 'Whoa' is right" Kopa said he began comparing his to DJ's scar.

"This is not normal hyena size. An animal with a bite mark like this has to be almost twice the size of a fully grown hyena" Rafiki said. DJ looked up at the Royal Mjuzi with a concerned look.

"Then what the Hell tried to take my arm off?" DJ asked. No one had an answer to that.

A mysterious beast breathed heavily as he entered the cave. Blood dripped off of it's white fur and onto the stone floor. Footsteps to the right of him got his attention but he made no movement.

"Well, did you get him?" The newest beast asked. The white beast snapped his head towards the new one.

"There's blood dripping out of my shoulder and part of his weapon is still in there. How do you think it went!?!" He yelled as the new one immediately shrunk back into the darkness.

"This human is far more advanced than the ones our ancestors hunted. But that will not stop us" he said looking around him.

"For centuries, our kind was forced and has stayed underground, only going to the surface to hunt for food. Our first phase is to bring this pride of lions to their knees, then the rest of the lands. Humans and animals will bow to the Kaftar" the white beast said stepping into the light.

It resembled a large hyena but stood at around four feet at the shoulders with blood red eyes. It's right shoulder now had the blade of DJ's knife embedded in it, but still stuck out an inch or two.

Immediately all around the white Kaftar, laughter erupted as dozens of yellow eyes appeared as the laughter got even louder.

Sorry this chapter is kinda short guys, but at least we finally get to see our villain for this story. I got the idea from an old hunting game I used to play a lot. A lot.
