A/N :Hi I am back with a new chapter. Had a bit of a writer's block with this one but I hope you guys like it.
He lay in the hospital bed silent and pale. His eyes shut with a nasty bruise resting beneath one of them. A gash ran across his handsome cheek with four stitches on it. She saw him like that and misery tore at her as if she felt his pain. The nurse called out, " Sweety are you family?"
Caroline turned and looked at the nurse through blurred vision realizing her eyes were filled with unwashed tears. She wiped them away. " No I ... I ..." Unsure what to say she stammered.
"Then you should wait outside. Only friends and family are allowed inside the room."
"Yeah. I'll leave." She left the room in a haze of tears. He was hurt so bad the injuries on his face , his right leg and right arm. They said he had a hairline fracture on his arm. She didn't know what she was supposed to do. As soon as Katherine had told her that Klaus had been in an accident she had rushed to the hospital filled with panic and urgency. She just knew she needed to see if he was okay. A car had run over his bike, that's all Katherine had told her. She wanted to make sure if he was doing well, see it with her own eyes. And now here she stood outside his room helpless and fearful. She wanted him to be okay, needed him to be doing okay. She didn't care if he had hurt her not at the moment when he lay unconscious and so still.
The last time they had talked was when he had cornered in the classroom before Camille had interrupted them. She hadn't seen him for a week after that, one long miserable week. She had to leave for New Jersery due to some unfinished business, it had left her emotionally exhausted and now this.
"Caroline," a voice jolted her out of her thoughts. Rebekah stood staring at her with an odd expression on her face.
"Why are you here?" she asked Caroline a question she could not answer.
"I just, I was just leaving." Caroline stood at a loss of words. As she turned to leave Rebekah stalled her, "Wait, You can go meet him if you want to." Caroline was utterly astonished.
"He needs a friend. He is in a bad place right now. That's all I can tell you." Rebekah cautiously added and then left.
Silently she entered the room. His face pallid except for that bruise. He was awake staring at his phone. Gingerly she walked closer to his bed. His eyes shot up clashed with hers. So many emotions ran behind their eyes. Misery, heartache, longing common in both.
Perhaps it was the pain medication or maybe the events of the past week had made him vulnerable immediately he blurted out, "I need you Caroline. I just..." his eyes filled with unshed tears he extended his hand towards her hoping to God she would hold it.
Caroline's heart in her throat. His face bruised, a bandage on his forehead and he still looked so handsome. She didn't care what had happened between them she just knew she needed him too. She leaped in his arms.
"OWW!" he choked out in pain.
"Oh. I'm sorry did I hurt you." She instantly pulled back not wanting to hurt him.
He snatched her back in his arms wanting to lose himself in her warmth, her flowery scent lending his troubled soul some much needed calm and tranquil.
Her arms snaked around his neck. She didn't know who was comforting whom. His embrace felt safe and soothing. He pulled back a little rested his forehead against hers welcoming all the emotions she evoked in him. Tempted to steal a taste he whispered, " May I?"
Caroline nodded and his mouth descended on hers, hot, fiery and needy. Passion stirred, titillating and tempting. His tongue found hers, she moaned and he hugged her tighter bring her flush against his body. Her hands fisted then clawed his back he groaned drunk with lust. His hands caressed her soft thighs she arched into him. Crazed, ravenous he broke the kiss and ran open mouthed kisses on her neck. He chanted her name. His hands ran under her shirt clasping her bra and found her breasts.
Suddenly as if it was all too much all at once she jolted out of his embrace. Immediately she got off the bed which she didn't remember when she had climbed onto. " I should leave." She announced righting her clothes and before Klaus could say anything she hastily left.
"Caroline wait!" was all he could say before she left. Awesome he had acted like a total douche she had come to the hospital to check up on him and he had all but attacked her.
He tried to get up to follow her but he felt dizzy as if he might pass out so he sat back on the bed.
What the hell was wrong with him he berated himself again. No matter what he felt for her or how potent it was he should not have done it this way not like this and not here. He called her, she didn't pick up. So he left her a text, "Caroline I am sorry please just talk to me once."
Fifteen minutes later when she didn't text back he left another text coaxing her to forgive him. He was acting like a desperate homesick fool but he didn't care at the moment. Something urged him to make everything right.
Caroline came back home and went straight to her room. Her hands shaking, the ferocity of Klaus's kisses had both excited and scared her. She felt vulnerable, exposed and it frightened her. What she felt for him wasn't just a likeness it was love, something very much like love.
She washed her face changed and lie in her bed facedown. He was injured and she had all but attacked him. What was she thinking? What must he be thinking? She had acted like a desperate horny moron. Uff! She sighed then she noticed her phone. She had put it on silent when she was at the hospital so hadn't immediately noticed his texts. She mentally facepalmed herself.
What was she going to do now? It wasn't right. She had promised herself she wouldn't think about him much less have anything to do with him but she hadn't been able to stop herself from going to him. She had vowed she would focus on her studies and stop getting distracted by her feelings for him. But she couldn't stay away. It wasn't right she had to talk to him but what would she say I promised myself I would move on from you but I can't because I love you but I don't want to because I am scared? Ughhhhhhhhh another loud sigh.
She sat up stared at her phone for a few minutes then texted Kat.
"So how is he doing?" Kat asked sitting beside Caroline.
" He is hurt really bad. He has a hairline fracture on his arm, his face is bruised and has a few other injuries." Caroline replied and then became silent.
When she did not say anything for a few more minutes Kat asked, "So what happened?"
"Kat," too jittery to sit still Caroline got off the bed and began pacing.
"I , We, he, " just thinking about it made her blush.
"No! What you guys did it in a hospital bed? Kinky." Kat joked and Caroline rushed to clarify, "No , we didn't but we did kiss."
"And,?" Katherine probed.
"And... I...I..." suddenly choked up tears flooded Caroline's eyes.
"Hey. Come here babe." Kat hugged her consoling her friend. "Sit down don't worry we will figure this out."
After a few minutes when she was a little composed, Caroline voiced her concerns, "Kat I love him. I do but I am afraid he will break my heart and it is just all too much for me. I had decided I'd stay away from him focus on my academics but when I heard he was hurt I couldn't stay away I felt I'd die if anything happened to him. The things I feel for him scare me and I know if I had decided to stay then I shouldn't lead him on but..."
"You can't because being with him is more important than your own self." Kat interrupted as she understood perfectly what her friend was going through, something sad creeped in her voice as she remarked. "Look Care I can't tell you if you should stay away or be with him. I can just say don't lead him on it's not okay. Talk to him figure this out. Sometimes it's better to talk than to run away or pretend like you don't care."
"What will I say?"
"Be truthful may be that'll sort everything on it's own."
Despite Kat's advice Caroline did not have enough courage to face Klaus. She would call at the hospital and ask about him every day but she did not go back. She did not reply to his texts which was rude of her she knew but she was confused.
Things weren't really peachy at school even. Tatia was being the usual bitch. She had smeared Caroline's locker with ketchup again this week normally Caroline would've fought but right now she didn't have the energy nor she was in the right head space.
She was cleaning out her locker not bothering to pay attention to the muffled snickers and laughs behind her. Tatia approached her,"Oops looks like someone's out to get you."
Before Caroline could turn around and say anything a menacing British voice, the same voice that made her gooey remarked, "Tatia leave." The finality in his tone and the anger in his eyes prevented Tatia from arguing.
Caroline's eyes widened part fear, part exhilaration. He whisked her around, "And you are coming with me." To her utter surprise Caroline didn't resist and quietly went with him as he grasped her arm and led her to an empty classroom and locked the door.
"So?" he urged. Klaus paced a few steps then stood silent, anger and frustration oozed out of him as he ran a hand though his hair. The bruise in his face was fading his injured arm in a cast and fury and misery evident on his face, he looked like a handsome avenging angel.
"Klaus I..."
"No let me say it first. You refuse to talk to me, you don't return my texts, you hang up when I call you avoid me but you came to the hospital sat hours outside my room, came to my room kissed me like your life depended on it and then flee as if you abhorred the mere idea of me touching you but you called every freaking day to ask about me, what the hell is this Caroline? Do you want me to go crazy? Is this revenge for what happened with Camille? I fucking apologized I did everything, tried everything to get you to talk to me but you couldn't even be bothered to leave a text. I can't..."
Caroline closed the inches between them and kissed him. Her touch light and soothing drained the anger out of his body. She kissed, coaxed, shocked at first then ardent he kissed her back, his mouth hungry and feverish. His hands everywhere, it was tantalising.
Suddenly he broke the kiss, moved a few steps back. "Dammit." He cursed. He saw hurt flash in her bewitching blue green eyes, it pained him.
Her hands wanted to shake, she wanted to cry but she stood strong.
He broke the kiss and somehow it felt as if he was distancing himself it made her miserable. She had kissed him to calm him down but had ended up taking more.
"I am sorry Klaus I truly am. I shouldn't have led you on like this. I apologise. Caroline didn't know what else to say.
"That's it. That's all you have to say." He grasped her arm with his free hand. "I am dying Caroline. You are killing me." His voice loud but his hands were gentle he touched her face as if reverent. He rested his forehead against hers. "Nothing happened between me and Camille. We were always just friends. She kissed me I didn't kiss her back."
"Why?" Caroline asked. She knew she shouldn't. She knew his answer would only cause more pain if he left her but she still asked.
"Why?"
"Because she is not you. Because I'm yours."
A tear escaped and he kissed it. "And I am yours." She confessed and he was in heaven.
He kissed her now she grasped his face. Her hands fisted in his hair, his arm around her waist. His tongue entwined with hers, she moaned. Passion took over, bodies flush, lips enmeshed breaths mingled. Klaus moaned her name lightly pull away. "Before I ravish you here I think we should go."
She nodded and combed her fingers though his. He lifted her hand clasped in his and kissed her knuckles. They were each others and they knew. When she held his hand he felt his world was alright again. He kissed her head and promised himself he would never hurt her.
They walked out of the classroom hand in hand came face to face with Tatia. She saw them together and rage burned inside her.
Without even a single word to her Klaus led Caroline away from Tatia.
