Anna rested in bed with her newborn in her arms, still in disbelief that he was finally here. The room was quiet, most everyone had gone home for the night. She stood up, walking around the room as she bounced him up and down in her arms.

"You look just like your daddy."

She stared down at him as he cooed. He had David's eyes and his nose. She knew he'd look just like Olivia as he got older. She glanced over at the empty chair where most dads would normally be sitting. There was a knock at the door, followed by the nurse.

"How are we doing in here?"

Anna smiled softly. The baby was almost asleep in her arms.

"Doin' great."

The nurse was quick to walk back out of the room, leaving the door cracked behind her.

Anna laid him down in the bassinet before she carefully sat back down on the bed. There was another knock at the door as Tig poked his head in. She waved him in quietly with a soft smile.

Tig held a vase of flowers, setting them down on the beside table before he moved to sit down in the empty recliner.

She looked over at him before she moved her hand to rest on top of his.

"Thank you."

He just shrugged it off without a second thought. He wanted to be that someone for her, but a part of him doubted how good for her he really was. Her late husband was on the straight and narrow. Tig was the complete opposite. He looked over at the infant, watching as he slept before his eyes drifted back to Anna. He wanted to kiss her again but instead, he froze when the door opened.

Olivia ran through the door with Gemma close behind her. The little girl climbed onto the bed with her mother.

Gemma sat down in the corner of the room and she looked over at her newest grandchild with a proud smile on her lips.

"You did good, Annie. You should be proud of yourself."

Anna held onto her daughter, her chin rested on top of her head as she looked over at her mother. He was the missing piece of her family. Although it would never be complete again, she knew that her children would always have each other.

Olivia shifted in Anna's arms to look over at her baby brother. Her eyes lit up with adoration and she watched him while he slept.

Anna glanced over at her mother before she hugged Olivia close.

"Do you want to hold him?"

The little girl nodded her head excitedly.

Anna nodded her head towards her mother, gesturing for help.

Gemma scooped him up, rocking him back and forth in her arms as he started to cry before she sat him down in Olivia's lap.

Anna supported his head but she let Olivia hold onto him. She smiled as she looked down at her babies. In this moment, it didn't feel like a whole lot could seriously tear her down. All she missed was David but she shifted her focus to the moment in front of her.

Tig watched the scene in front of him and he felt like the outsider. A part of him wondered why he was even here to begin with. He leaned back in the chair before his eyes met Gemma's. He could see her train of thought was the same. He knew why. He wanted a chance with Anna, but he didn't want to push her into something if she wasn't ready.

Anna picked up the baby in her arms before she looked at everyone in the room.

"Can you take Olivia for a few minutes?" She looked over at Tig.

He nodded his head before he scooped the little girl up in his arms.

Anna smiled gratefully as she started feeding her son.

Gemma moved to take Tig's seat and she moved closer to her daughter. She kept her eyes forward and the room stayed silent, except for the coos that came from the baby's lips.

"Decided on the name yet?"

Anna readjusted as she held him and she nodded her head.

"Johnathan, after dad. David for his middle name."

Gemma's body language became rigid, though she did her best to hide it. She sat up straighter and her hands rested her lap.

"It's a strong name. Fitting."

Anna nodded her head as she closed the front of her gown, holding Johnathan against her chest as she patted his back.

"He comes from a long line of strong men, on both sides."

Her mother didn't speak again.

The door to the room opened, cutting through the tension in the air between the mother and daughter. Anna looked up to see Tig and she let out a sigh of relief.

Gemma stood up and gathered her purse before she held her arms out for Olivia.

"We'll come back by tomorrow. Love you Annie."

Anna nodded as she watched her mother carry her daughter through the door.

Tig sat on the side of the bed and he grabbed her hand, pulling it to his lips. He kissed her knuckles as gently as he could.

She looked over at him with a soft smile on her lips.

"What are you doing?"

Tig shook his head in response. He didn't say anything, but instead, he pressed his lips against hers. This time, he was sober. He wanted to show her that he wanted her. He wanted to keep her closer than ever. His hands rested against either side of her neck.

"I'm not tryin' to rush into anything, I'll let you move at your own pace. But I want you."

Anna's heart fluttered in her chest. She didn't know exactly why he'd want her. A single mother with two kids, one of them being a newborn. She knew that he was different. She had seen him with Olivia. Her free hand reached up to touch his chest. This time, she didn't push him away.

He rested his forehead against hers. He wanted her to know how serious he was.

Anna scooted over in the bed, allowing him enough space to lie in the hospital bed with her. It was a tight squeeze but he threw his legs up on the bed. She rested her head against his shoulder and she laced her fingers with his.

"I'm sure this isn't really the life you want."

He stopped her and he leaned over to kiss the side of her head.

Anna leaned over to pull the bassinet towards her before she scooped up Johnathan in her arms. She held him to her chest before she looked over at Tig.

"Hold your arms out."

Tig did as he was told before he took Johnathan in his arms.

The baby let out a squeal for a moment before he slowly drifted back to sleep.

Tig held him close to his chest and he rocked him side to side. He'd done this twice before, but he still felt like he was clueless.

Anna smiled at Tig as she ran her fingers over the little knitted hat. Her chin rested against Tig's shoulder as she looked down at her newborn. She wrapped her arm around Tig's waist and she gently rubbed his side.

"I know nothing about this is gonna be normal, but I want you around, Alex. I see how you are with Olivia and I know you'll be that way with him when he's older."

He side-eyed her at the mention of his real name, but that's how he knew she was being honest. He leaned over to kiss her cheek as he lied back on the bed, adjusting the newborn to lie him on his chest.

Anna closed her eyes as she inhaled his scent. Her grip on him didn't relax.

"I'll still be here in the morning." He whispered.

She was scared to get attached right away. She didn't want him to disappear. She still held onto his t-shirt but she closed her eyes as she fell back into the pillow, attempting to get a few hours of sleep before she'd have to feed Johnathan again.
