Jean could feel his hands trembling as he buried them into his jacket pockets keeping his head bowed low to the ground. Keeping to himself, remaining ambiguous in a crowd and minding his own business, it was what had protected him all these years without fail. Lying about why he skipped school, making up stories to avoid the truth and pretending to be something he wasn't. He hated having to lie, but it was for the best and it avoided a worst case scenario from occurring. His heat was mercifully over, no longer having to barricade himself in his flat away from everyone but Marco. He could enjoy the outside, he could surround himself with people, he could breathe fresh air and he could enjoy being sociable again. Returning to a state of normality that didn't make him feel trapped and caged, as if he was supposed to hide away from society. But it didn't completely ease his anxieties and inner doubts, being born the way he was, he had to be aware of his surroundings, of the dangers that may possibly be thrown at him. That anyone could pick up his scent and realise the truth at any time, he could still feel eyes on him like he was being observed like a piece of meat. He shuddered at the thought, breathing calmly as to prevent himself from becoming overworked. He had managed to contact his mother and reassure her his heat was over, that it went safely and he still had plenty of repressant's in case.
He remembered before he attended college, how bad they got and his mother always checked in, running him a bath to clean off, giving him medicine and rubbing his back when he was sick. But he never missed the look of sorrow and guilt in her eyes, knowing she had birthed her son into this fate regardless of he liked it or not. But after he befriended Marco, she eased up and knew her son was in good hands. He needed to thank Marco for all he had done for him during the heat, bringing him food, helping to clean him up, check on him and keep him company. Even when the heat got too much and he was sick, Marco was always someone he could rely on. But his mind kept reflecting on that conversation he had with Eren, how despite his better efforts to ignore it, his body had called out to him. Despite his resolve that he could do it on his own, the memory of Eren's scent, his body pressed against him, the taste of his lips, it drove Jean crazy and caused his pheromones to worsen. The happiness he felt when Eren finally called him, he was beyond happy, yet hated how his walls crumbled. How desperate and whiny he sounded, how hearing Eren's voice caused butterflies to form in his stomach, his pheromones' to leach from his body, the rush of excitement that ran through his skin. Begging for his alpha, hearing the low growl in his mates voice, how much he wanted him, he couldn't look Eren in the face after that.
Mikasa peered at Eren from the corner of her eye, trying to bite back the smirk on her face as she sipped her iced coffee, she'd known Eren for six years, having remained in contact with him when she was adopted by her uncle after her parents deaths. She had come to predict his moods and habits intuitively, he was utterly adorable acting impatient like a little kid. He was beyond excited that Jean was finally coming back to college after his heat was over, he was pacing, he was fidgety, he was gnawing on his lip and his hands were shaking. He was barely holding it together due to nerves, she could hear the cogs turning in his head as he mentally prepared himself for their reunion. Eren had missed Jean while he was in heat, longing for his companionship and intimacy. He'd missed being near him, being able to reach out and touch him, but above all, he had been worried out of his mind about him. He'd wanted to check on Jean so badly, to make sure he was ok, wanting to run to his flat and rush to his side like a madman. He knew how rough heat cycles affected omega, the toll it took on their physical and mental health, he wanted to make sure Jean was feeling ok. "He'll be here soon, stop fidgeting, he'll be ok" she reassured him, she knew Eren had a hard time when it came to self control and calming himself. But he was working himself up for no reason and he needed to breathe.
Eren glared at her impatiently but just huffed as a response, knowing deep down she was right. As an Alpha, he'd been educated on the differences between himself and Omega's, it was just common knowledge they were taught from a young age. He hated how much upper-class Alpha's mocked and demeaned Omega's, enjoying the sense of entitlement and power that came with their food chain. Calling them incapable of monogamy, disapproving the theory of soulmates and fated pairings despite the fact that their instincts and souls proved otherwise, plenty of couples shared loving, trusting and healthy relationships. But that didn't stop toxic Alpha's from behaving coldly to Omega and bullying them, many taking multiple Omega's as pets and treating them badly while marrying another Alpha. Though he knew not all Alpha's were bad people, it didn't make the stereotype and assumptions of Alpha's any easier for Omega to handle. Bad experiences with Alpha like these at a young age or for the first time left an impression on them, causing Omega to question if all Alpha behaved the same way. He had always respected Omega's, especially given his mother was a Beta who married an Alpha then birthed him, she was aware that she was below Alpha yet she was above Omega, yet she fell in-between, unable to understand either. But she never let that define her, she was strong-willed, sassy and self-aware, she raised her son to respect Omega, about the special bond between them and how he would one day meet his soulmate. She wanted Eren to be a good man, someone she could be proud of, someone to regain the trust of Omega and hopefully change their opinion of the way Alpha were viewed. When he asked his father why he married a Beta instead of an Alpha, knowing that he would be looked down for it due to his influence as a doctor. His father commented that even without the special bond of an Omega, he had known immediately that his mother was his soulmate, he loved her regardless of status. Carla was a special woman and he would never choose another person to have a life with.
Unknowingly, Mikasa would later reflect his parent's marriage by choosing Sasha the expectation of marrying another Alpha coming from such a prevalent family line. She despised the idea of being forced into an arranged marriage with an Alpha purely to carry on a bloodline and breed into her own species. She revelled in her freedom, the ability to make her own choices and spread her wings, her uncle tending to her needs and encouraging her personal growth. But he always prepared Mikasa for the ugliness she would face in the world, which Mikasa took to heart. Using her status as an Alpha to protect Sasha from the influence of cruel Alpha's who may mock her. Mikasa was a role model to Eren, showing how far someone would go for the person they loved, fighting against the judgement of others for their own happiness. He treasured Jean, he loved Jean, but back in high school he'd been terrible at verbalising his obsessive crush on the blonde. Even now he struggled to express his feelings without behaving like an ass, he was just bad at expressing how important Jean was to him, he was never good at showing his emotions. He just had a short fuse and was awkward with stuff like that, but he would never let the people he loved come to harm. If anything happened to Jean that he couldn't protect him from, he would never forgive himself.
Jean stood hesitantly in the courtyard, staring at the college as if he was an outsider, like he was in a different time, a different world, everything felt so strange. He'd only been gone a week yet it felt like an eternity, what day of the week it was, what month it was, every time his heat ended his head felt fuzzy, like his brain had been on high alert and his senses were heightened to primal levels. It exhausted him to great extents and he always felt sluggish for the next week until he felt normal again. The connection between all Omega and the understanding of what they all suffered due to their biology was a silent bond of sharing. He was always grateful that some of the professors at his school were Beta's and showed an understanding of his condition. The privacy of the school meant he could keep his Omega status private unless he wished to share it with close friends.
"JEAN!" a familiar voice yelled eagerly, she had hoped she would run into him eventually, wondering what she would say to him and if he would be coping. Every time it felt like a piece of him was put to the limit and he never came back the same. She always worried about him, wishing she could do more to make it all better. Jean blinked, realising someone was calling his name, dragging himself back to reality, remembering that he had friends and he was a student. The past week had gone by so fast and yet so slowly, time distorted and strange beyond understanding. He raised his head in the direction of the voice, hoping to acknowledge them and ease his confusion. Suddenly, he felt a warm body rush at him, pressing against him, arms wrapping themselves around his neck as he was nearly knocked off his feet. Stumbling backwards to steady himself and reform his centre of balance, a flash of brown hair filled his vision along with the scent of perfume "You're back! Oh my god, I was so worried! Marco told me everything, are you feeling ok?" Sasha pestered. She'd given Marco food to send over and medicine, but she couldn't attend in person, anything that would make Jean's life easier and could ease the frustration of being forced to stay indoors. She hated the pain Jean endured, the isolation he was forced into and danger he always seemed to face, his life being cut off every month as his heat came. She'd been working all week and studies had swamped most of her time, the joyful life of a student. She hated leaving Marco with all the responsibility as he was her best friend, he needed her just as much as he relied on Marco. But she would make it up to him, whatever he needed, whatever favours that came to mind she would help him out.
Jean stabilized himself before realising Sasha was hugging him, the familiar affection that he had been alien to during his isolation. Remembering what it felt like to touch someone without feeling overly sensitive and worrying about going insane due to his pheromones. Hearing the concern in her tone, her anxiousness and desperation for information. Remembering that she existed, feeling like it was forever since they spoke to each other "Sash…" he mumbled weakly.
Sasha pulled back, her big brown eyes wide and teary, concern filling her features, her eyes dancing over his body looking for injuries or any abnormalities. "I'm so sorry I couldn't visit this month, I had so many essays to finish and my job loaded me with crap shift hours. Do you feel ok? Are you fatigued?" she pestered. The thought of him being alone and suffering with the effects, crying, nauseous, bedridden and sapped of all his energy, she hated picturing him that way. She hated the uselessness that came with being a Beta, watching from the sidelines but never truly able to understand what he was going through. She was stunned to see him back at college so soon, thinking he would take some more time to adjust, hoping he wasn't pushing himself.
Jean blinked, Sasha had always been like a sister to him all his life, watching out for him, annoying the hell out of him, making him smile and sharing snacks with him. She met him around the time she met Marco, being bullied by other students for her strange habits, curvier form obsession's with food. But Jean saw the awkward social anxiety and shyness beneath it, soon developing a close bond with her. Many assumed her closeness to him was because she had a crush on him, following him around in hopes of mustering the courage to confess. But later she instead confessed to her pansexuality and mutual attraction to Mikasa. Jean had been surprised but nonetheless kept her secret and accepted this, sensing how important it was to her. Sensing the chemistry between the two women and the heated glances they always seemed to share with each other. Shortly after accepting that Mikasa would never notice him and later bonding with her platonically, he helped Sasha boost up the confidence to confess to Mikasa. Allowing her to convey her feelings before they left high school, handing Mikasa some flowers and bashfully confessing her love. Shortly after their romance blossomed and realised their bond as soulmates, he, Sasha and Mikasa formed a friendship together through their relationship. Not only finding a sister figure in Sasha, but Mikasa acting as a protective older sister towards Jean the same way she did Eren. But due to their closeness and intimate friendship, many assumed they were dating, but it was because of how comfortable he had become around Sasha due to his profound trust in her. She had her hair down for once, something she didn't do often, her fringe framing her face and her long brown hair tumbling down to her elbows. She was wearing a black and white striped shirt with an oval neck that ended above her stomach, the sleeves reaching her elbows, matching with a pair of blue jeans and converse, her college rucksack hung over one shoulder.
He sighed wearily, chuckling under his breath, she was a ball of energy and though it could be exhausting somehow right now it was exactly what he needed. "The nausea was pretty bad this month but I kept some food down. I was in bed for the most part. But Marco kept an eye on me and…" he trailed off blushing. Just when he finished eating something or Marco made him food, suddenly sickness hit and he found himself rushing to the toilet or puking in bed and having to change the sheets. He hated that his body kept rejecting everything, unable to regain the energy he kept losing, feeling as though he was bound to his bed. He hated that he had to rely on Marco to aid him with just about everything, feeling like a leech, but Marco never complained or berated him. He just got Jean water, asked how he was feeling and tried to cheer him up. He didn't deserve such loyal friends in his life, he would become too selfish.
"And?..." Sasha pestered, he wasn't giving her enough information. She knew Jean dodged around the details out of awkwardness and trying to ease their concerns. But it only made matters worse, he didn't have to shy away from them. They would do anything for Jean, they loved him dearly. She wanted him to be happy, safe, protected and finally find the person whom he was bound to be with. He deserved the best and she would never stop protecting him, not until she knew he was in safe hands. She knew Eren was Jean's mate, Marco had told her all about it and honestly she was surprised but she had a feeling given how much Eren seemed to tense up whenever Jean was in his presence. Sometimes your mate was the person you least expected them to be. She knew Eren had made the right decision to avoid Jean during his heat, he was showing self control and respect towards Jean. He wanted to share affection with Jean on his terms and know she could trust him to take care of him.
Jean blushed, averting his gaze shyly "Eren… he called…." He muttered. It wasn't a big deal, it was barely a conversation and neither had planned it, either Mikasa had talked him into it or Eren had bit the bullet. But hearing Eren's voice had set a light in him, his stomach was squirming, he could barely breathe, butterflies had hit him all at once. Wishing Eren was there, imagining his hands running across his skin, his voice whispering in his ear. He felt a shiver run across his skin at the memory of how many lewd thoughts of Eren had run through his mind during his heat, thinking about how much he wanted to be touched. His green eyes glowing like jewels, his cocky smile and white teeth, his soft tanned skin and that tousled mass of brown hair, Eren had really gotten under his skin.
Sasha stared at him in awe, her eyes widening before perking up with excitement, she could sense the growing relationship, the awkward dancing she and Mikasa had experienced until now. The blatant attraction yet embarrassment at showing intimacy while following intuition, never knowing what to do and feeling confused and excited at the same time. "Eren… he… called you?" she gasped in surprise, a bright smile on her face, she needed to know all the details. She would happily give Jean any advice he needed, whatever comfort and reassurance whenever he felt anxious or nervous. But if Eren kept taking the initiative, it proved he was interested in Jean, that he was serious about taking their relationship somewhere. He had found himself a loyal one and that was hard to find. She knew Jean had dodged around the idea of a healthy relationship with an Alpha due to negative experiences in the past, believing he would be alone for the rest of his life despite his attraction to both genders. But she could see he was easing into his bond with Eren and learning from it.
"Yeah, he… sounded kinda worried…." He babbled, the tension in his voice, panicked to hear him and worrying if he was ok. The phone call he never expected to receive yet had calmed him down so much. Asking him if he was safe, calling him baby so naturally, how Jean hadn't been able to handle hearing his voice. He appreciated how much patience Eren had for Jean's hesitance and shyness around him, that he was prepared to wait until Jean was comfortable with him. Not many Alpha would be so gracious to an Omega that kept rejecting them. Eren could always well when something was wrong, when Jean pulled away or when he was keeping secrets, but he most likely got advice from Mikasa on what was the best way to handle it. He was trying his best and that was what mattered, the effort he was putting in.
Sasha grinned, she could see how happy Jean was despite his awkwardness of discussing it. He was glowing, she could see how impatient he was and how much he wanted to see Eren. He was spoiled by a mate who had his best interests at heart, which meant they had a healthy relationship "It seems he cares about you more than you think" she grinned. She would need to have a talk with Eren in the future about dating Jean, but it could wait for now, she would just continue to observe until she felt it necessary to step in. Jean shifted, rubbing the back of his neck nervously but he knew she was right, Sasha always had the right answer even if she was confusing at times. She was an optimistic, endearing and endlessly caring person who always wore her heart on her sleeve. She gripped his arm and began dragging him away "C'mon, I need some coffee before class and I want to see Mikasa" she pestered impatiently.
Jean sipped his coffee in content, he'd been too nervous to consider eating this morning which only made him feel worse. He'd never been able to eat when his anxiety flared, he couldn't taste anything, he just felt sick and he hated wasting food. So he always waited till the restless period passed and he felt calm again, being able to enjoy a coffee and eat something truly eased his nerves and helped him feel better. Enjoying the warmth of sunshine on his face while watching people go about their day, absentmindedly reflecting on life and how the rest of his day would pan out. Sasha happily sipping her own while enjoying a croissant with Nutella was endearing, getting her sweet fix of the day and instinctively choosing a place that Jean would be comfortable with. She sat next to him the whole time, glaring at anyone who looked at him funny, making jokes or distracting Jean when he got too quiet or looked anxious. Though she was known for her hyperactive and energetic nature, many people labelling her an airhead or weird as an insult, Sasha could be fierce and defensive when she wanted to be. There was more to her than people realised and only the people closest to her were privy to this information. She cared a great deal and she was never ashamed to show her feelings. Sometimes she stole his snacks, sometimes she got into mischief and sometimes she spaced out, but she was also a hard worker, a good cook and never let people push her around.
Suddenly Sasha perked up, her brown eyes full of love, acting like a puppy that had just caught sight of a tennis ball or a butterfly. Jean averted his gaze, he knew exactly who it was before she spoke, gripping his coffee cup tightly. He could smell the Alpha's approaching, their scent filling his senses like smoke. Mikasa was smiling fondly, a look of bashful adoration forming on her features, any aura of intimidation she may have previously harboured instantly dissipated. She was wearing a white cuffed Tee and black ripped jeans with a red sparkly scarf around her neck that reached her waist, matching with a pair of black ankle heeled boots, black nail polish and a satchel bag hanging at her hip. Mikasa had truly embraced her tomboyish nature in college, yet embraced her femininity at the same time, but he assumed that maybe Sasha might have something to do with that. He felt himself blushing at the sight of Eren, he always felt his skin tingle and nerves heighten whenever he was around. Admiring what a dork Eren was and yet looked cool while doing so. He was wearing a pair of headphones around his neck, a green military-style jacket and black Tee and blue ripped jeans with boots. Eren had never really ever had a fashion sense, he just wore what he liked or what suited him, he was never a fashion trend setter. But my god did he look good, the shirt was tight against his body, outlining his forming abs, tanned skin and his scent radiated from the material, god, he looked hot. "Morning babe" Sasha called out lovingly, if Sasha was part animal, her ears would instantly have perked up and her tail would be wagging like crazy. She and Mikasa were the most cat/dog relationship he had ever met but in the cutest possible way. Sasha was endless energy, affection and loyal to the core, while Mikasa was quiet, shy and yet very clingy towards her girlfriend.
Mikasa approached slowly, reaching out her hands towards her girlfriend to cup her cheeks, stroking her thumb across the skin before leaning down towards her, kissing her fondly to which Sasha smiled into the kiss with a playful giggle. She smothered Sasha's face with kisses before muttering "You taste like chocolate" teasingly. Jean couldn't help but grin, they were so annoyingly cute it made his heart melt, Mikasa never failed to remind Sasha how much she loved her. Reminding her of all the small traits she harboured that made her heart flutter, Mikasa always noticed the little things that everyone else was blind to. Mikasa was known for her overprotectiveness and keeping Eren at bay in high school, often taking a hit for him and neglecting herself. However, after meeting Sasha she had transferred her care not only towards Sasha, but she had matured because of it. Sasha taught her that selfishness was natural to feel, but allowed her to branch out, enjoy time by herself, indulge in her hobbies and allow Eren headspace to sort himself out. She noticed when Sasha faked her smiles, when her mental health hit a low, when she was being bullied, when Sasha closed in on herself, when she was overexerting herself etc. Pouring her time and energy into taking care of her mate and enjoying their life together. Mikasa then sat beside Sasha before turning to Jean with a look of concern, her black eyes intense yet gentle "Marco told us about your heat, how are you feeling? Eren said you sounded rather rough over the phone" she responded calmly.
Jean blushed, of course, Mikasa was nearby when it happened, she was never far away when Eren found himself in trouble or some other problem. The mental image of her hearing him in such a state, blind to his heat and begging for his alpha, how utterly childish, he felt himself blushing darker. Mikasa was a mature person and had a rational way of approaching everything, she was a perceptive person with a depth of empathy only rivalled by Sasha. She was very protective of her loved ones, which now included him due to his bond with Eren and friendship with Sasha. She behaved like a sister towards him, respecting his boundaries yet always nearby when he needed someone "I….um… I was kinda nauseous and I didn't sleep well…." he muttered.
Mikasa smiled sympathetically, she knew how hard it was for him, she was surprised he had chosen to come back to college so soon, but she didn't sense anything unusual about his scent nor his behaviour. If he was comfortable with his choices she would support him, but if he needed help all he need do was ask. She had been by Sasha's side the whole time, watching her suffer as Jean's safety plagued her mind. How restless she behaved due to her worry, unable to see Jean due to her schedule, distracted and stressed by everything piling up on her. But she was unable to go herself to reassure Sasha due to his heat, despite her being unaffected due to being mated, someone may follow her or attempt to attack Jean using her as a decoy.
"You were sick?" Eren burst out abruptly, unable to stay quiet as he listened in on the conversation restlessly. He had been right to worry all along, why was he back at college if he still felt crappy? He could study at home, he could go to a doctor, throwing himself into the open without caution was dangerous. He knew Jean had been struggling, he knew he yearned for him, ached for him, but he refused to face Jean in that state, he ignored his instincts despite how painful it had been to do so. He knew how bad it got for Omega's but he had hoped Jean would at least eat. If he couldn't even keep food down that meant he was lacking nutrition and had possibly lost weight during his homestay.
Jean shifted, pouting at Eren over his coffee, he was belittling him and embarrassing him in public which he didn't appreciate. He was speaking about it on his terms, sharing details when comfortable and easing his stresses. But as usual Eren had to be the loudest voice in the room without consideration of how inappropriate the timing was "I'm used to it, suppressants help but they don't fix it completely" he growled. He didn't want to be babied, he hated that, he just wanted it over with and to get back to normal life, well as normal as being an Omega could be. Forgetting for a brief time that he ever had to deal with problems at all, he just needed to endure his heat, then return to his life as if nothing had changed.
"You could have asked for help" Eren snapped bitterly, he was the first person he should have asked for help, thanks to his fathers connections he could have gotten him medicine. He knew being around Jean was risky and despite having marked him their relationship was still new, but he wanted to take care of Jean, he wanted him to rely on him instead of handling everything on his own. He was his fated partner, they were bound together for the rest of their lives, they would always share a special connection with each other. If he and Jean were to be married someday and Jean would bear his children, he wanted him to get used to the fact that Eren was a permanent part of his life.
"I had Marco, I'm not that stupid" Jean huffed, he'd always turned to Marco in the past and he would continue to do so. His Beta nature meant he was immune to his pheromones and he was never at risk, he was the safest person to be around and he was Jean's best friend. He wasn't a stupid child, he knew who he could and couldn't trust, he'd been avoiding Alpha nearly his whole life. Like hell he would ever allow himself to be put in harms way, why couldn't Eren understand that? He wanted to control every aspect of his life, safeguarding him from the world and it was so frustrating. This is what annoyed the hell out of Eren, he was being childish and he refused to listen to anyone's opinion but his own. He'd been so sweet during his heat and those brief moments in the past, why did he have to revert to being an asshole again? Eren growled, bearing his teeth impatiently, why was Jean so stubborn? Why couldn't he understand how happy he was to see him? Yet how he'd been driven out of his mind worrying about his wellbeing.
Sensing the tension in the air, Mikasa decided to speak up on Eren's behalf, if an argument erupted he would only regret it later. "Eren was worried about you, he was holding back on seeing you. That phone call kept him at bay, but he's been restless all week waiting for you to come back" Mikasa replied bluntly. Eren felt his cheeks heat, stunned into speechlessness at how casually she said something so personal and intimate without hesitation. He'd wanted to seem cool and casual but he'd messed up and now Mikasa was just making it worse. Glaring at Mikasa accusingly at revealing such an embarrassing secret, he hated how weak he appeared, knowing that despite an alpha was supposed to be dominant and protect his Omega. But Jean just knew how to get under his skin, leave his head a mess and never be able to focus on anything but him, but then he never regretted that he and Jean were lovers. He was a mess without Jean, he was one of the few things in his life that made sense.
Jean bit his lip stifling a laugh as he nearly choked on his coffee, realising Eren must have been practicing the right thing to say for hours. Trying to prepare himself for this moment onto to fuck up immensely. Grinning wolfishly as he sensed Eren flinch at the realisation, the mental image of Eren pacing and sulking like a child due to the fact he wasn't around, it was too adorable for words. This was blackmail he could use against Eren for months, knowing that Eren was a needy child when it came to him, always having to have him around. Was an Alpha like Eren unable to function without his presence? He wondered how anyone else would respond to such a thing, that Eren's kryptonite was him. Honestly, he had to say it felt good, the only people in his life he was used to receiving affection from were his mother, Sasha and Marco, but they were Beta's so they were neutral to the bonds that Omega and Alpha shared, however, this didn't make their affection for him disingenuous, it meant they didn't bullshit him. He could trust them, which wasn't something easily earned by Jean, given his childhood history with bullying and his father walking out on him. They loved him as he was, they accepted all his flaws, pet peeves and insecurities.
Eren huffed, he could see Jean smiling and as annoying as it was that he was making fun of him, he felt happy to see him smile regardless. His life had been a mountain of expectations and responsibilities ever since he was born and at times it was suffocating. He was expected to take on a medical career like his father due to being his alpha heir, trained to follow in his footsteps without a consideration of what Eren wanted in his future. At first, Eren had hated it with a passion, seeing it as boring and tedious, everyone giving him false praise as the next alpha and following such a respectable line, female and Male Alpha's alike lining up to kiss his ass and sleep with him for status. A boring, bleak and predictable world, where he was at the top of the food chain with every connection at his fingertips. Everything most Beta or Alpha ever dreamed of, was the life he was born into, though it was a lot more boring that people tended to assume. But then he realised using medicine all the Omega he could help using his influence, making stronger repression medication, better medicine to help with heats and masking pheromones to protect them. But now after meeting Jean he realised all the ways he could protect him, all the good he could do to improve Jean's life and protect him. "Is it so surprising I care Kirstein, not all Alpha are the obnoxious arrogant assholes you assume us to be" Eren muttered.
Jean continued to smile towards Eren, he was so cute when he was all stubborn and sulky, it was almost endearing. Why couldn't his Alpha be this cute all the time? "So, you missed me huh Yeager?" he teased, biting his lip. Eren blushed, he loved that smile on Jean, it was painfully cute and rather alluring at the same time. The way he was looking at him made his stomach fill with butterflies and his blood burn in his skin. But yes, he had missed his Omega like crazy.
Eren followed after Jean as they walked down the hallway together, his hands buried in his pockets, he was worried Jean may be oversensitive still and never liked to be touched unless he showed an interest or Eren sensed vulnerability or a desire to be comforted. Jean liked attention on his own terms, he hated unwanted attention directed at himself. Though he yearned to reach out and hold Jean's hand, he didn't want to assume, scared that Jean may flinch or avoid his gesture. He'd missed Jean's scent like crazy and breathing in his pheromones was sending chills down his spine. He wanted to kiss Jean, he wanted to bite him, he wanted to claim him, he wanted to imprint his scent onto Jean so every Alpha within radius would know who he belonged to. Instead, choosing to bite his lip so hard it bled as he held himself back, he didn't want to make a scene or ruin this moment. He didn't want to start an argument and he didn't want to say the wrong thing. So he just decided to remain silent and enjoy the moment, it was the best course of action. Jean peered at Eren curiously, trying to figure out just what in the hell was going on his mates mind. He'd been sulking for hours, holding himself back and keeping a distance, despite the fact it was clear he wanted something badly. His eyes filled with frustration and anger, he could smell the rage pouring from him in waves, looking like if someone so much as asked him a question he would snap. Was this because he was worried about him still? Feeling neglected? Lonely? He could never tell with Eren, he sighed heavily, relenting to make the first move. He rubbed the back of his head nervously "I… I meant what I said y'know…." Jean blurted abruptly. Eren's gaze instantly averted to his direction, patiently waiting, sensing he was attempting to communicate but was struggling. Hanging off of Jean's every word with eager anticipation. Jean groaned, god why was this so embarrassing, despite how easy this sounded in his head, he felt so embarrassed about confessing something so personal. He'd known Eren for five years and yet he felt like he was talking to a stranger, not someone familiar in any way. "I… I did miss you I mean…. I'm not good at relationships Eren, you're my first… everything. Hearing your voice over the phone, I wanted you near, it hurt to be away from you…" he babbled.
Eren instantly perked up, his eyes filling with fondness and a smile twitching at the edge of his lips. Jean opening up to him and sharing his feelings, as naturally as he did around his friends. This felt special, tender, sometimes he wished Jean would act like this all the time. "It was cute… hearing you sulk, sounding so weak and needy, it took everything I had not to follow your scent to your home and beg you to let me in" Eren joked. Jean whining about how lonely he felt, begging for Eren to come visit him, his voice like honey. One day he would wake up to Jean in his bed, cuddling him like the dork he was, that was something he would never forget. That would be the happiest moment of his life.
"Would you have?" Jean asked curiously, he knew if Eren had visited him things could have taken a turn for the worst, they were not yet mated so Eren would be susceptible to his pheromones. His primal instinct may have kicked in and Jean wouldn't have been strong enough to fight him off and neither would Marco. He knew Eren wasn't a bad person, but sometimes when your true nature took over, rational sense and empathy were no longer reachable. The fear of what could have happened had Eren come over was something he didn't want to consider. Hell, he wouldn't have been in a rational mind either, his brain would have been clouded by his heat.
Eren smiled "There isn't much I wouldn't do for my Omega, even if I look like an ass doing it. Big shock but…when we mate, I want you to want me, it's a special bond y'know" Eren reflected. He wanted Jean to remember the moment, the touch of Eren's hands roaming his body, his teeth sinking into his skin, his scent being masked all over him. Being able to feel Eren's body against his own and lose themselves to the sensation. But being able to remember it the next day, no regrets and no fears, just knowing their souls had been bound together. Eren knew it was embarrassing to admit, despite the fact that loads of attractive Alpha's threw themselves at him all the time, desperate to sleep with him. Eren was a virgin, he'd never slept with anyone. He hated the emptiness of simply using another human being because he had influence. Hell, the Alpha that begged for his attention so much didn't even like him, they just liked his authority and wealth.
"Pssh, stop boasting already, trying to earn brownie points" Jean chuckled, he was such a smooth talker it was rather annoyingly sexy, how easily he could persuade people and yet was so honest with his feelings. The things he could never be because he had to know his place in society. But he realised how much he'd missed Eren's presence, how much he needed him in his life. The safety of his Alpha, the eyes he felt of those who recognised his scent, the fear of his secret being blown, Eren just had to give them one look and they scattered, nobody bothered him when Eren was around. Eren was like a shield, a safety net, he never had to worry about being in danger or something bad happening, because Eren would never allow it. The sense of security he had lacked all his life, it was within reach and damn did it feel good. Knowing that Eren would willingly act as his bodyguard come what may was reassuring. He always had Jean's safety on his mind, he smiled, he wasn't ready for a hug yet but he did want to express his feelings to Eren "Oi…" he questioned. Eren peered at him curiously, wondering what was bothering him.
Jean leaned across to grip Eren's shirt, pulling him towards him to plant a tender kiss on his lips, maybe this would calm Eren down and distract him long enough to prevent him from falling into a foul mood. He knew Eren was a softy underneath his tough exterior, but this was a big deal for both of them. This was the first kiss he had ever initiated with his Alpha, usually he was too shy or Eren was the one to make the first move. Eren's eyes widening in response to the gesture, his brain piecing together what was happening. He'd missed how soft Eren's lips were, like he was tasting honey from a spoon. He then pulled away winking cheekily "Now can you stop sulking like a spoilt child, I've given you some sugar" he sighed.
Eren stared at him in awe for a while, frozen on the spot, feeling as though he was walking in a dream and if he woke up this would all disappear. It was a rare moment when Jean acted on his feelings and showed his affection for Eren, Jean was just that unpredictable to read. One minute he wanted space and didn't want to talk to Eren, the next he was brave, awkward and gave him kisses or hugs, moments that Eren treasured. He then snapped back to reality, glaring at Jean in frustration "I haven't seen you in a week and our date was a month ago, who cares about a little sprinkle of sugar, give me the whole bag!" Eren snapped. He wanted more from Jean, he wanted so many kisses he was breathless and all he could think about was Jean's lips. Roaming through his mind while he was stuck in boring classes all day.
Jean rolled his eyes in frustration, maybe the kiss hadn't been such a good idea after all. Now that Eren had a taste, he wanted more, becoming greedy and selfish. "Can't I just enjoy being back, if I want to be touched by you I'll approach you" he grumbled. He would give Eren a taste of what he wanted, slowly getting used to PDA around campus, given only their close friends new they were together. The last thing he wanted was gossip and he was sure Eren felt the same way. But when he got bratty like this, it made him consider ignoring Eren altogether until they were off grounds.
Sasha sat happily with her head on Mikasa's lap affectionately, gazing up at the adoring black eyes of her girlfriend, she loved laying in this position. She could cloud gaze for hours without a care in the world, feeling like she was in her very own rom com. Passing the time while simply enjoying Mikasa's presence, getting lost in each others eyes and letting time slip away into the background. Mikasa smiled back down at Sasha, running her fingers through her hair fondly, twirling her fingers through the ends gently. She felt so at peace around Sasha, she wondered if Sasha was secretly a witch, casting a spell on her mind and body to make her lose grip on reality. "You smell calmer, seeing Jean again really cheered you up" Mikasa hummed. She was glad Sasha's mood had improved, she hated seeing her so troubled, she knew it affected her sleeping pattern and mental health. Despite her bright smile, stress deeply affected Sasha in a negative way.
Sasha shifted, pouting at her mate, sometimes how perceptive Mikasa was could be rather eerie. Mikasa always knew something before she did, but it meant she had someone to confide in about her problems "He's like a brother to me, we've known each other since we were fifteen" she protested. Jean used to be much more of an ass, he used to brag and boast, pick fights and hated people telling him what to do. Sulking and pouting, pretty much a miserable asshole. But he'd matured, he'd grown up and become much more self aware, protective of his friends and family, constantly considering their wellbeing and focusing on his education and future. Despite this, Jean still had bouts of insecurity and self hatred, that he was never good enough or that he was a useless Omega who constantly had to be protected by others.
Mikasa shook her head "I was worried too, while you and I have mated with marks, Jean still hasn't been marked as a pair. At least with Eren as a watchdog nobody else will get any funny ideas. I don't want you to get hurt" she explained. Mikasa's body and soul were now bound to Sasha and nothing could undo that, they would spend their lives together. But unlike them, Eren and Jean still had a problematic relationship. Jean was still under the influence of his heat and was susceptible to being overpowered by stronger Alpha. Sasha's loyalty to Jean meant that if any harm befell him she would never forgive herself. Much like how her uncle Levi was her family and Eren was her surrogate brother, Jean was a surrogate brother to Sasha, he meant the world to her. Both were only children with no other siblings, after meeting each other they filled that emptiness with a platonic bond. They found the family they never had in each others company.
Sasha softened, her brown eyes filled with love, Mikasa always understood her problems, she never condescended and she never insulted her. She did what she could to help and allowed Sasha to vent. "I know his heats take a toll on his body, every month he risks an Alpha attacking him. I never want him to endure that, I always fear that something bad might happen" Sasha confessed. It hadn't happened yet, but maybe Jean had just gotten lucky, every month he lost his strength and risked being hurt. She hated the idea that one day Jean would face a danger she couldn't protect him from. The gnawing feeling never once leaving her mind, the anxiety building up and choking her.
Mikasa's expression became stern and she cupped Sasha's face gently "You know I'd never let that happen, Sasha, I'd kill the person who tried something so scummy towards Jean" she reassured her. She would always rush to protect the people closest to her, even at the risk of her own safety, she would do anything for them. Along with being in the higher tier of influential Alpha's, her family had a history of being assassins with superhuman fighting skills. It was what earned her respect and fear in college, high school and during her adolescence. Her parents though they harboured the gene and her mother being from a rare Asian clan, they chose to live in peace on a farm away from the family tradition. Upon their deaths, Mikasa's was activated and was no longer able to live in isolation. Her great uncle Kenny was an assassin for hire who raised her uncle Levi, though he lived in seclusion and rarely worked, he hadn't lost his touch and still harboured a reputation. His best weapons were guns and firearms, though he had proficiency in hand to hand combat, he wasn't someone you wanted to get on the wrong side of. He knew of Mikasa's family prior to her family tragedy though they had never met in person.
Her great aunt Kuchel didn't inherit the title of an assassin, preferring to live a peaceful life, she raised her son while trying to earn bread and teach him the beauty in life. Placing all of her finances and savings into giving Levi everything he needed. But she was an efficient fighter herself and could handle fights effectively, capable of wielding everyday objects to her advantage that normal people would never consider. She'd died due to complicated health reasons when Levi was young but she could wield weapons and knew how to deal with difficult people. Making sure landlords never got stingy with the rent, making sure she never had loan sharks and nobody ever bullied or harassed herself or her son. She looked out for herself and her child until the very end. Kenny had taught Levi to fight himself to which Levi later trained Mikasa after adopting her, making sure she knew of her heritage and she would always be prepared for danger. Though in recent years the lineage of assassins had died out, it was no longer as common as it had been in their earlier years. They still had positions and influence in the military and police force and some were mercenaries for hire, simply transferring their abilities to modern skills. Levi was currently a captain in the military and had a respectable position, he still hated authority and people who condescended or disgusted him. However, he had matured and had found a decent life for himself. But he never forgot where he came from, what made him the man he had become. Mikasa herself had the choice of joining the military someday if she wished, becoming a bodyguard or joining the police someday. Levi allowed her to have that choice, but he was always watching over her with her best interests at mind.
Sasha smiled back, touching Mikasa's hand and squeezing it "I know" she responded. Mikasa never made idle threats, she never lied about when she hated someone or the harm that would befall them if they stepped out of line, betrayed her or hurt someone she loved. She loved how much Mikasa cared, her endless empathy and morality, how unselfish she was. Mikasa's actions were purely for the sake of others, acting as their personal shield and blocking enemies from confronting them. How much she loved her and the ones closest to her. Her loyalty and devotion to them balanced on how well they treated her. Upon dating Sasha she understood how important her friends were to her too, that Sasha had equally as many people she needed to protect from being manipulated or harmed.
Connie was her twin, her best friend and troublemaker companion, he'd been the first friend she made in high school. While everyone else mocked or isolated her, Connie reached out a hand of friendship and never looked back since. They were rarely seen without one another, joking about and getting into mischief. Jean was like her older brother, confidant and platonic soulmate, it was like they had known each other all their lives. They shared affectionate insults and knew how to wind the other up. They loved to joke around each other and showed a vulnerable side to each other, Jean confiding in her about his fathers shitty treatment, his single mother and bullying growing up. Sasha revealed growing up on a farm, learning to hunt and being unable to connect with people due to being mocked for being a Beta country girl. If anyone bullied Connie, gave him shit or he was having a bad day, Mikasa was always there to look out for him. Though Jean had once previously harboured a crush on Mikasa, he had moved past that and saw how perfect she and Sasha were together. They merely had to watch them gazing at each other, how lost they were in the moment to know they had fallen in love. Sasha tended to be oblivious to anyone else's interest in her due to her attachment to Mikasa, Mikasa in turn rejecting every confession and gift unless it was from Sasha herself. All he asked was that Mikasa take care of Sasha when he couldn't, she was softer than people let on and he didn't want her to get hurt. Mikasa had great respect for Jean and cared about him immensely, she respected his opinion, his intelligence and didn't belittle him as an Omega. His devotion to her and Sasha was sincere and he wasn't the type of person to manipulate others or lie about his feelings.
Mikasa smiled tenderly, though she had been given hell by other Alphas and extended family such as Kenny for her choice to date Sasha she would never regret it. She would take on the world if it meant she would keep Sasha by her side, maybe in another life, she could have dated and married Jean. Maybe they could have had a life together and known happiness. It wasn't uncommon for female Alpha's to marry Omegas and bear their children, not all Alpha's were expected to be female in opposite sex relationships. He was a good man and a decent person underneath his flaws, he was a monogamist and a romantic at heart. But Sasha was her soulmate, regardless of whether she was a Beta, Sasha was her reason to smile, her security and someone she deeply trusted, something that didn't come easy to her. Levi knew that Mikasa had chosen Sasha and when her mind was made up you couldn't change it. He was the only person so far in her family that accepted them, but that was enough for her.
Jean sat silently in the library, paging over books for an upcoming test, the words all turning into a blur of black ink and making his head pulse with an oncoming headache. But he pushed himself through, refusing to give up, Coffee still in his hand as he absentmindedly flicked through pages, his head was fuzzy and focusing was rather problematic. He was always exhausted when his heat was over, sometimes he napped for an entire day but he couldn't afford to miss this test, he would never achieve his potential career if he allowed himself to fail. So he fueled up on caffeine and pushed himself to achieve, he could rest later, making the nap all the more satisfying. Eren had eventually parted ways though not amicably, he'd managed to persuade him with the promise that he would stay the night at Eren's. Knowing how long it had been since they were alone together, remembering the night Eren came to Jean's place for coffee and spent the night talking. Besides, Eren's home would be far higher quality that his basic flat layout, why not reap the benefits? He could shower at his place and his clothes were fresh so he wouldn't need extra, but he could always ask to borrow something of Eren's if need be. Eren had been over the moon, holding Jean to his promise and had been secretly texting ever since, making sure he wouldn't bail or forget about their plans. He hated to admit it but Eren was smitten with him and he was falling himself, somehow Eren had wormed his way into his brain, he was all he could think about. His stupid grin, those intense green eyes and that tousled brown hair. He never thought he would genuinely find himself caring for and becoming comfortable with an Alpha, allowing himself to realise he could love one. Suddenly, he felt a chair being pulled up nearby but he didn't pay any mind to it, it was the college library and plenty of students came and went from this place.
"Not like someone of your status to be so comfortably alone" a voice mocked, he was either really stupid, brave or both. How easily he allowed his guard to fall so quickly, surely he would be more self aware, or were all of his species this gullible? Surely he would have noticed her scent by now and become aware of the danger he was in. She'd sensed that Jean was hiding something for a while but she could never tell, after some snooping around she had learned that he was an Omega, though he'd hidden it well. Coming from a family of Beta's it was easy to assume he was one of them, given how many suppressant's he took to hide his scent. He'd done a good job of hiding all this time, but now he had nowhere he could run to use his mask to keep up the façade. Everyone would know the truth and there was nothing he could do about it.
Jean blinked, a wave of confusion and anxiety washing over him, his palms sweating and his eyes wide, the tone of the voice confronting him was all he needed to know about the danger he was in. He averted his gaze to spot Annie Leonhart sitting before him, wondering why she was approaching him out of the blue like this. Annie was a well-known Alpha who was socially distant, stoic and reclusive, She was never friendly, cold-natured and often acted on self-gain. She and Mikasa rarely got along and were often remarked as rivals, she looked down on Omegas and barely tolerated them, insulting them openly. She was in disbelief that a prolific Alpha like Mikasa was mated with Sasha, something that deeply angered him. Annie was everything he hated about Alpha, the entitlement, the cockiness and the casual way she insulted everyone around her unless she deemed them respectable. She demeaned Sasha for being the middle species, no superior genes or qualities like Alpha, yet not born for breeding like Omega, merely common. "What… a guy can't sit and study in a public college library" Jean scoffed accusingly.
Annie hummed, he was rather brave speaking in such a tone towards an Alpha. Was it because he was alone that he thought he could get away with it? Or because he still believed his identity was a secret to everyone else? Either way he was a fool and he would soon be put in his place "quite a mouth on you, surprised your mate hasn't scolded you yet".
Jean blushed, he hadn't put a label on his relationship with Eren yet, they were slowly building up a trusting bond of allowing their feelings and gestures to come naturally, like a relationship should. Learning more about each other in the process, which was becoming rather comfortable for them, something new. He couldn't deny that he was Eren's fated mate, they were bonded for life. Though he was blossoming feelings for Eren, he was yet to truly open up to him, his years of torment making him wary of any possible danger. But yes, he cared a great deal for Eren, he was still hesitant to accept him. So why was Annie here? Unless she was asking about their relationship or why he wasn't glued to Eren's side as usual, from what she remembered they hated each other in high school. She had no reason to be here asking him confusing questions, but then, that had to mean. A spine chilling cold ran down his spine, his hands becoming clammy, his stomach twisting in knots and nausea hitting him, he couldn't breathe, his head felt like it was spinning. He tried to breathe yet he could feel himself choking on air, this felt like he had fallen asleep at his desk and was living through a nightmare, even though it was all too real. Did this mean, did she?
"I'm surprised you're an Omega Kirstein, from your personality to your grades you'd assume you're an Alpha, which coming from a family of Beta would be rare" she mocked with a conceited smile. How ironic that someone with such good leadership and intelligence was an Omega, people following him loyally only to learn he wasn't what they believed him to be. His mother was a common Beta, as was his father who walked out on him, all of his friends from high school were Beta, so how did he slip through the cracks? He had nearly fooled her and everyone else around him, but not anymore. Did he really think he could fit in or be anything more than the Omega he was?
"What…." He stammered, barely able to speak, was she blackmailing him? What was she scheming? She sure as hell didn't like him, nor was she in any way attracted to him. Why the hell was she suddenly so interested in him now that she knew he was an Omega? To hurt him? To hurt Eren? Why was she doing this? He'd been fine on his own, nobody knew, he could just live out his life in peace. But after becoming involved with Eren, so many new problems arose in his life out of nowhere? Was this Karma for believing he could ever be happy?
"Just don't forget who you are Kirstein, you're a loser and always will be, no matter how hard you try" Annie responded, getting up from her chair and leaving the room. He'd tried to make something of himself, believe he was capable of rising through the ranks and reaching a position of power. But no matter how hard he tried, the reality was he would forever be beneath everyone and the only way he could ever be happy is through an Alpha. Using them to achieve his dreams because alone he never would. Jean sat silently in his seat, frozen in place, his mind whirring a million miles an hour, her words echoing through his mind on repeat. The silence in the library was now echoing, piercing, you could hear a pencil drop. The footsteps of nearby students, his own heartbeat in his ears, suddenly his senses were heightened by fear. It felt like his life had been ripped from under his feet and thrown into a giant burning pyre becoming ashes before his eyes. Annie knew, she knew he was an Omega, so far the only people to know where his mother, Marco, Sasha, Eren, Connie and Mikasa, his close friends. For an outsider to know, especially Annie, this was bad, what she could do with this information against him was endless and terrifying. He stumbled to his feet, his legs caving and collapsing to his knees under the shock of the situation. He needed to get out of here, he needed to go home.
Jean staggered along the halls, gripping his bag and making a beeline for the exit, this place felt like a prison, a zoo and he was the main attraction. Everyone would soon come crowding around him, bombarding him with questions he had been avoiding all his life. Now that he was known as an Omega, he had a target on his back that would cause everyone who spited his kind to attack him all over again, just like when he was a child. He could feel his heart hammering in his head, his chest, his throat, his hands were shaking and he couldn't breathe. He couldn't escape, he couldn't run, he couldn't avoid this truth and he knew it, his life would never be the same after this. He felt like all eyes were on him like everyone was speaking about him, everyone knew.
"If it isn't the omega boy" someone called out mockingly
"Trying to pretend to be an Alpha!"
"Who knew such a pretty boy was an Omega"
Jean froze, his fears had been right and while his life was falling apart she was shattering the broken pieces into irreparable fragments. The foundations had been destroyed and now all he could do was watch and suffer in silence as he awaited the humiliation and ridicule from others that he had once been able to avoid in anonymity. Annie had been talking and word had spread like wildfire, there was nowhere he could hide and nothing he could do to disprove her suspicions about him. Everything he had been working so hard to protect, his mother, his best friends, his reputation, his privacy, all of that was gone. His life had been ruined, how the hell would he face all the college students whom previously never gave a second thought about him. Whispering and spreading rumours behind his back, which would lead to new enemies harassing him for who he was? He had to get out of here, he had to escape, he could think later but for now he needed to breathe, somewhere he could be alone and figure this shit out. He made a beeline for the gates, he had to hide in the toilets, he needed to get somewhere somebody couldn't find him.
Find Marco, find Sasha, anyone
He began to run at a fast pace, the wind whipping in his ears and the devil on his tail, they could smell his fear, his anxieties, his weakness. They would know all of his thoughts and feelings, like a predator hunting its prey. Suddenly he felt a leg hook around his front, causing him to fall, he shielded himself with his bag, protecting his front as he rolled. His face scraped, pain shooting through him as he stumbled down the concrete stairs of the building entrance, groaning and choking on air.
"Trying to run Omega? You guys are all weaklings"
Jean stiffened, tears stinging his eyes, these words weren't something he hadn't naïve to, the same belittling insults he had endured during his childhood. The cruel realities of how people viewed someone like him. But he had hoped that past would be behind him, that he could forget it, but no, he'd been dragged back to that dark place. All the memories of what had occurred during his adolescence, his mother crying as she explained his future as an Omega, the kids who mocked him, the eyes, the looks and the shame. It was all coming back, flashes of these memories as if he was reliving it. Knowing he would have to face his mother and tell her his privacy had been invaded, that the college was no longer safe and he was being bullied "I… I'm not…" he stammered defensively.
"You're just a toy for the Alpha, used for making babies, like you mean anything" Annie's familiar voice spoke up. He couldn't lie his way out of this one, he'd done well though. He'd become involved with Yeager, something she never expected to happen. Given they used to previously hate each other with a passion, the way it was supposed to be between their species. Eren was a short-tempered ass but he was the son of a famous Alpha doctor, he'd be well off for the rest of his life.
"Omega boy"
"Weakling"
The chants wouldn't stop, their voices blending together into a fucked up nursery rhyme that was made just for him. The endless chants and insults on repeat like a broken record, reminding him of who he was, how they perceived him. More and more people began to crowd him, all lured into Annie's game, gathering more followers to harass and bully him into a broken shell of who he used to be. Trying to make him as miserable as humanely possible until he was too ashamed to show his face. He knew what would happen if he stayed, he'd heard the awful stories of what some Alpha did to Omega for fun, he couldn't allow himself to fall into that situation. This was literally a fight or flight situation and he needed to get out while he still could. He wasn't strong enough to take them all on by himself, so he was forced to act like a coward as much as he hated himself for it. He scrambled to his feet and began to run, he had to get out of here.
Jean leaned against a wall hidden around the back of the school, gripping his aching ribs, pounding chest and shaking limbs, he felt as though he may collapse at any second if he stopped. He couldn't rest until he was secluded and away from any possible threats, somewhere secure that only he knew about. Everyone was looking at him like meat, everyone wanted a piece of him, everyone was whispering, everyone was laughing, he was the new gossip. His first day back since his heat and everyone knew, this had to be the worst day of his life. Maybe if he closed his eyes, he would wake up and realise this was a nightmare, formulated by his own fucked up mind. "Jean? Jean, what the hell?" Marco called out in a panic, it had barely been an hour since classes began and Jean went to the library to study for a test. He had offered to go with him and Jean had insisted he would be fine, but now he wished he had argued further and followed him. His lip was bust, his face was scraped and he could see bruises, he was shaking and he looked terrified. Had Eren done something to him? What the hell happened. Had they gotten into a fight, had Eren lost control? Had they broken up?
"They… she… they know…" Jean stammered, god he couldn't get the words out. He couldn't make his body work, he couldn't believe this was really happening. Was this what he deserved for believing he could keep hiding? That the peace he had enjoyed for so long would continue? Why did he ever believe he could be happy? It was impossible for Omega like him? Just when he thought he would be brave enough to confront Annie on her bullshit, she shot him down and turned him into a shaking mess of fear and anxiety, turning everyone against him like an angry mob.
"What?" Marco pestered, he wasn't making any sense and it was scaring the hell out of him. Something was wrong, something bad had happened to make Jean react in such a severe way. He just wished he would calm down and speak normally that would allow him to understand, wishing that he could read Jean's mind. Maybe then this would make sense.
Jean looked up at Marco with wide frightened eyes full of anxiety, he didn't have time to explain, he just needed Marco to listen and help. He needed his best friend now more than ever, Marco had never let him down before and he was sure he wouldn't fail him now. He had nobody else he could turn to right now, fresh tears welling up as he grabbed Marco by the shirt. "They know Marco, the whole school, Annie.. she… she told everyone. I'm outed, they know about me, an Omega" Jean blubbered. He felt so scared and ashamed at the same time, wondering what everyone now thought of him, since the truth was out.
Marco's eyes widened and then darkened with rage, now understanding why Jean was scared out of his mind. His body was on autopilot while his whole body was in a panic, unable to think clearly as self preservation kicked in. This was low even for Annie, wondering if Bertholdt or Reiner had anything to do with this too, they were all childhood friends after all. Jean had kept this secret guarded for so long, locked away with many of his darker memories growing up. If everyone knew this would put him in danger, especially after his heat "We need to go, you're mum, home, I don't care…." He responded sternly, grabbing Jean and pulling him away.
Jean sat silently curled up in a ball, they'd gone to a local park for peace so Jean could breathe, though people observed with expressions of worry, concern and confusion, nobody approached, merely minding their own business while Marco remained nearby acting as lookout. He had a lot of mess to clean up and he had no choice but to tell the people closest to Jean to warn them of what was to come, calling his mother to tell him. "Yeah, Mrs. Kirstein they know, I don't know how but Annie Leonhart, she's spread the news around the campus, Jean's in trouble and he needs to lie low. I don't know how long" Marco responded painfully. He hated to tell her this, Mrs. Kirststein worried enough about her son and now he was being bullied all over again, he remembered when they first met of all the tales she told of Jean's childhood and how much happier he was now that he had friends to look out for him.
"Is he hurt? How did this happen? I would sue them for this!" she snapped, they had been so careful until now and one student had ruined it all. Another cocky Alpha who just had to make everything worse because Jean hadn't been through enough hell. She knew all about his relationship with this Yeager boy and things had been going well for him. But for whatever reason, this girl thought he was doing too well and wanted to change that, she hated the idea of her son having to change colleges over this, he'd worked so hard.
Marco sighed sadly, he could sense the rage and sadness in her voice, desperate to see her son yet she lived so far away "yeah he's… he's a bit roughed up, but he's safe. I'm taking him home" Marco explained. He would fill in the rest of the details later but they had to get Jean home, away from the prying eyes of others until they figured everything out. Jean heard his mother cursing in the background, he could tell she was mad, she only ever used her native tongue under the severe rage. He'd never felt so guilty, so loved and yet so proud at the same time. To know his mother would go to hell and back for him, it was an admirable love.
"Take him home Marco, watch him for me and tell his Alpha" she warned, Eren deserved to know what had happened and hopefully he could help. Times like this she was glad her son had connections to Alpha's who would be willing to to protect him. Marco nodded before hanging up, he wasn't going to enjoy these calls.
Sasha hummed, gripping her satchel on the way to class smiling happily, she honestly couldn't think of anything happier in her life right now, everything was back to normal. Jean was back at college again and they could hang out together like they used to, they could goof off all they wanted and it was only a matter of time before classes ended and break started again. She hated to leave Mikasa so soon but she had classes to attend, if she was ever going to make it as a chef in the food business she would need to study, but they would soon be reunited, she was counting down the hours.
"No wonder Kirstein was friends with that loser, only an Omega could be so fond of a Beta" a voice mocked
Sasha blinked, how did someone know Jean was an Omega? Hell was she daydreaming? But that voice sounded close and all too clear, she felt as though she had been daydreaming and rudely woken up, like when the teacher sometimes hit her head with a book. Her hands clenched around her satchel strap, trying to control her temper, turning on her heels to see a group of college students standing nearby and smirking at her. She didn't like the look on their faces and she could smell trouble brewing, but she refused to allow them to see how shaken she was "What the hell does that mean?" she snapped.
"You think you can talk to us like that?" one of them mocked
"What makes you think I'll let you insult my friend?" Sasha barked back defiantly. Jean was someone she had known for five years, no way she was going to let anyone insult him. She was used to people giving her crap for being a beta, she was used to that, but she would never let anyone insult Jean. She would keep fighting back just to agitate the Alpha who expected her to cower, be obedient and talk down to her. That way they would never win, they would never see her behave weakly and cry like they wanted.
"Who knew Kirstein was an Omega, but then why else would he be so fond of a Beta, quite the pair" another teased
Sasha felt her stomach drop, now it all made sense as to why they were so cocky and smiling like that. They knew the inside secret that she had promised to protect all this time. She felt sick to her stomach and she felt so angry that she swore her skin was prickling with fire, today was just getting worse. She remembered the day she learned Jean was an Omega in high school, sobbing and crying about what a loser he was, how nothing he did would amount to anything. How Omega like him would never have a place in society, nobody would ever respect him and how he wished he was never born. How she slapped him, told him he was worth ten Alpha and more, how she never wanted to hear him talk badly about himself ever again. How he would fight his way to find his place because he would earn his damn respect, how hard he'd fought for his grades and respect. She'd always believed in Jean, she knew he was a kind person and how he worked hard for every achievement he accomplished "Where did you learn that?" she growled.
"Leonhart, she did some snooping, turns out she found a goldmine" another student scoffed walking away
Sasha felt her legs shaking, knowing if she tried to move her body would give out underneath her. Rage filling her body as a vengeance began to form inside of her, of course, it was Annie, who else would it be? She was never one to make enemies or mock people the way Annie did, but she had never felt such apathy and hatred for a human being as she did it that moment. If the whole campus knew about Jean, then his privacy, his protection, it was all gone, not all Alpha were decent like Eren or Mikasa. Jean now had a target on his back which left him in danger to Alpha who may abuse him, she rummaged through her bag, attempting to find her phone and call Jean.
Mikasa sat in class, scribbling away at her work absentmindedly, Sasha's scent still lingering in her memory, the thought of seeing her again made her so happy. Though they were now adapted to working around part time jobs, late night studying, classes and any other intrusion, they still got lonely whenever they were apart. Her sweet smile and her soft hair, those golden honey brown eyes she adored so much. Eren smirked in amusement, watching Mikasa moon about like a lovesick puppy was something he would never get sick of. Seeing her so genuinely beside herself caused a love to swell inside of himself, he was glad to see her so happy. "And you say I'm clingy, you've been projecting since you attended class" Eren teased, he could smell Sasha all over her, the way Mikasa was grinning like a lovesick puppy. Mikasa scoffed, kicking him under the table but there was no mirth behind it, she knew he understood, when the lovebug bit you hard, you were helpless to the influence. Nothing else in the world could compare to the joy that person brought you.
Suddenly, her phone vibrated and a bunch of texts scattered on her screen
Mikasa babe
Pick up
Urgent
Jean is in trouble
Mikasa's eyes widened and she gripped her pencil so hard it snapped in half, the dust of the graphite pouring all over the page. Her mouth turned dry and her heart began to hammer in her chest, Sasha was never one to get panicked for no reason, she was rational and strong-willed, she could handle herself in most situations thanks to her childhood. But when she was upset, her anxiety, self-doubt and rationality went out of the window, she was unable to think clearly which put her in harms way. She remembered the promise she made to Sasha about Jean, how he was her family now too and she would do anything to keep him out of harms way. She wouldn't get upset over something for no reason, she hated to be a bother to Mikasa in any shape or form. She bolted to her feet nearly knocking the desk over the chair clattering on the floor, grabbing her belongings and running out of the door, like the devil was on her heels. The teacher could berate her all they wanted later, now it wasn't important, focusing on her studies was the last thing on her mind. Sasha would be beside herself right now, she would be so frantic and upset that she would be open to harassment and harm. But more so, what had happened to Jean to make her so frantic?
"Hey, Mikasa?" Eren babbled in concern, noticing the abrupt change in her demeanor and how the situation and drastically changed. He'd known Mikasa since they were ten, even after her parents were killed and she moved in with him, they reunited in middle school and became close friends. He'd become knowledgeable on all her small habits and mannerisms over the years. He knew that look, that dark look in Mikasa's eyes when she was mad, when someone bullied Sasha or hurt someone she cared about, the same look when her parents had died. Whoever or whatever had pissed her off, he knew it only meant trouble and nothing in the world could persuade her when she was this enraged. He scrambled after her through the classroom door, chasing after her, grabbing her arm to hold her in place to prevent her from escaping. He didn't want her to do anything stupid, which coming from him was ironic, given their roles were usually reversed "The fuck Mikasa? What happened to you?" he snapped.
"Something's wrong, something happened to Jean" Mikasa responded coldly, she knew Eren meant well and he didn't want her to get hurt. But this wasn't just about him, this was about Sasha and Jean. They needed to help them, right now both of them were in danger and they needed to find them before someone else did. School could wait, with her grades she could afford to skip a day, the teachers could call someone who gave a crap. Her friends were more important than sitting through a mind numbing class and wasting her time when they needed help. Eren froze, now understanding why Mikasa was in such a panic and suddenly his class didn't mean anything to him anymore. Everything fading into the background, like a distant memory. His entire body turning rigid as his brain was flooded with thoughts, Jean had only just returned after being away during his heat which had been agony for him. He was finally back on campus, back in Eren's arms where they were free to bond and flirt as much as they wanted. Then something had gone wrong, something devastating had occurred when he wasn't there to protect him. Mikasa opened her phone, clicking on Sasha's number instinctively, digging her nails into her palms, oblivious to the pain or the spikes of blood now forming in her palms.
"Mikasa!" Sasha sobbed with relief down the phone.
"Sasha, calm down, what happened? Is Jean ok?" Mikasa soothed, she didn't want Sasha triggering a panic attack when she wasn't there to comfort her. She didn't want Sasha hurting herself or putting herself in harms way. She just needed to focus and tell them what was wrong until they could find her. They heard Sasha sniffing, breathing fast and stumbling over her words, wondering what had gotten her so riled up.
"They know, half the campus know about him! He's been outed!" Sasha sobbed, this had to be someone's idea of a sick joke. How the hell had they gotten ahold of that information so easily? The students identities were supposed to have been kept private, only the headteachers and higher ups were privy to that sort of information. Now Jean was the school punching bag and everyone was mocking him, spreading lies and rumours, all sorts of malicious threats and plans towards him. She didn't know what to do.
Mikasa's gaze darkened, now she understood why Sasha was so frantic, her best friend was in danger and he now had enemies all around him. Many Alpha in this school hated Omega, demeaning, bullying and abusing them. She disgusted such human beings, she hated the way they treated Omega because she believed they were superior. Someone had outed Jean, everyone knew that he was Bisexual, he'd been comfortably out of the closet since they left high school, it was no surprise to anyone. Same-sex couples if they were, alpha or Omega weren't a surprise anymore, the world was changing and people had become more accepting of such differences. Though it was commonplace for Alpha couples to be heterosexual pairings, many beta couples could be gay or straight, but now that people knew he was an Omega, though marked without people's knowledge, Alpha would use him as a punching bag or worse. Mikasa's family, her parents had been Alpha, her father was a superior gardener and hunter, but chose to live in the woods with his wife and child to live off the land. Her mother was a superior seamstress and had run businesses making clothes for hefty prices, but never chose to indulge in the celebrity lifestyle that so many Alpha chose. But that never stopped them from being killed, leaving her to return to the life that Alpha were infamous for via her uncle. "Who," Mikasa asked darkly, she would be sure whoever caused her lover and her friends harm would suffer the consequences. For making Sasha cry and demeaning Jean by taking away his anonymity.
"A… Annie…. She knew about him and spread it around, Marco has… Marco has him somewhere but… oh god Mikasa…." Sasha sobbed. She felt like she couldn't breathe, so many lies and rumours would be getting around by now. People would be harassing his mother, spreading it across social media, people gossiping around campus, the endless problems arising.
Mikasa gripped her phone so hard she could crack it in half, trying to withhold her strength as best as she could. She knew she was attracting attention but she didn't care, an aura of pure rage pouring from her body so intense anyone could sense it. She would kill Annie for this, she would rue the day she was born, she thought this was funny, that she had won? She was mistaken. She'd publicly humiliated Jean in every possible way, she'd ripped apart his most guarded secret to everyone. But right now she needed to comfort her girlfriend, Mikasa sighed heavily "Go home Sasha, go to Jean's place, keep an eye on him and stay there. I'll come for you, don't talk to anyone you don't know, they'll mock you for the association" Mikasa responded before hanging up. Mikasa gripped her hands into balled fists, biting her lip so hard it began to bleed, the metallic taste of blood hitting her tongue, a low growl erupting from her lips. Her entire body shaking with rage, filling her senses like a poison. It was bad enough of what Annie had done to Jean, taken away his obscurity, the peaceful life he had known, the shield protecting him. Outed him to everyone and put a target on his back, making his life a literal living hell because she was blinded by her hatred of Omega, but worst of all, she had dragged the people he loved into this.
Marco
Connie
Sasha
His family
Annie had hurt Sasha with all of this, she was reveling in the fact she could abuse her authority like a sick joke and speak to Jean like shit and his friends without consequences, or so she believed. Her best friend was now a target and Sasha would face ridicule for the knowledge of hiding it, that she had known all this time and tried to live a lie of making people assume he was a Beta or Alpha. The fact she was friends with an Omega, someone lower than herself. People gave her enough shit for being mated with an Alpha, saying Mikasa dated her out of sympathy or that she conned her way into a good life alongside Mikasa, Annie would pay dearly. "Annie, that bitch. She won't dare try something like this again if I have anything to do with it" Mikasa snarled.
Eren grabbed Mikasa by the shoulders, glaring her down with steely green eyes, she was keeping enough secrets and hiding important information from him. If she wanted him to cooperate and not lose his temper she better start talking to him. "What happened to Jean? Is Sasha ok? Are they hurt? The hell is going on?!" Eren snapped desperately. Was Jean safe? Had he been attacked by someone? Was Sasha dragged into a fight protecting him? His mind kept running to every worse case scenario because Mikasa wouldn't tell him anything. He just wanted to know the truth before he went crazy from worry.
Mikasa grabbed Eren by the shirt collar, glaring him down with glassy eyes, fighting back the urge to cry. She never cried in front of Eren, not since they were kids. She rarely cried in front of Sasha, she was so angry and emotionally overwhelmed she couldn't hold them back. "Annie Leonhart just outed Jean as an Omega to the entire campus, everyone knows about him. They chased him off-campus in a riot and Marco escaped with him. They are now turning on the people closest to him, Connie, Marco and Sasha" she snapped. She had no idea what state Jean, Marco or Sasha were in, if they were injured, if they were still being chased down or what. All she knew was that Jean's home was the safehouse they were headed to. They had a plan and they needed to stick to it, but not before they got revenge on Annie.
Eren's eyes widened, he couldn't believe this was happening, this was a different kind of betrayal he was taking personally. He never thought something like this would happen and he was beyond shocked to learn this. He respected Annie in high school for teaching him how to fight, how to stand up for himself, but this was low even for her. She'd outed his mate from his safe space, ripping apart everything they had managed to form together. All the patience it had taken to get Jean to understand he truly loved him. How long it took him to earn Jean's trust, to break down his walls and see into the person beyond the mask Jean always wore. His affection, his love, the first date he had with Jean, how he shared coffee in his flat and a kiss goodbye, how he finally got Jean to kiss him on his terms, all these stupid little things that were some of his fondest memories. He wanted to be a good boyfriend to Jean, he wanted to be a good mate to Jean, he wanted to treat him well, earn his respect and watch Jean blossom as his own person beside him. He wanted Jean to have his independence by his side, not cage him away like so many Alpha did, now he had all his foundations ripped from under him and it was all Annie's fault. "I'll kill her" he growled
"I need to find Sasha, I told her to go to Jean's place so we can meet there. We need to leave, now" she responded, they could think about it later, but they needed to get out of this place.
Jean sat curled up in a ball, wrapped up in blankets as she sobbed silently into his pillow, his shoulders wracked with heaves as tears spilt down his cheeks soaking the material. He couldn't breathe, he felt sick inside, God, he could already picture it all. All of his worst nightmares coming to life in a monstrous parade of shame and guilt. The rumours that would accumulate and destroy his life completely, leaving him a mockery at the college campus. As a bisexual and an Omega, this made things even worse for him, he'd never been ashamed of his sexuality and would never hide that part of himself from anyone. But in the eyes of his enemies, it just made it easier for them to tear him apart.
His life couldn't get any worse than it was now, he had hit rock bottom and there was nothing he could do to change it, he just had to accept it. He couldn't go outside, he couldn't leave home, going outside would put a target on his back, he knew that Annie had connections and she could use that against him all she wanted, nothing could stop her. Just when he had finished his heat and finally felt like his freedom had been returned, something worse occurred. He couldn't call his mother and tell her what had happened, she would go mad with worry, she just knew that he'd been outed, that college wasn't safe, that he was being bullied. He couldn't tell her he was hiding out at his home until a better option arose, that he was behaving like a coward and refused to fight back. All she knew was that Annie knew he was an Omega, Marco didn't mention that he was attacked on campus and got his ass kicked. She would rip him out of there, making him look like a coward and send him elsewhere, making him look like he was running away, that he submitted to the Alpha. For now he would have to put everything on hold, he couldn't make plans and he couldn't attend classes in person, he was working from home. He would have to skip work for a while to avoid being spotted, he couldn't go out into the open recklessly. He could get bullied at work, there was nothing to stop them from doing so, customer service was full of jerks. Fired because his boss was an Alpha or simply because someone spread lies about him to soil his reputation, People could hound him and beat him up or worse. He would be recognised, he was friends with people around college and people knew him as a classmate from everyday exposure. Why did he have to be born this way? With this body, this status? Why was he born an Omega? Seen as the lower species of society, useless, weak, tiny. He felt like a freak, alienated from the world because of his genes. Compared to Alpha, the blessed life of the upper food chain and respect they earned, the carefree existence that came with being the superiors. If he was never an Omega, he wouldn't ever have to worry about being out like this, nobody would care, he'd just be another guy that happened to like both genders. Nobody cared about sexualities like that anymore, it was commonplace in society. He felt sick with anxiety, his whole body shaking like a leaf, he couldn't calm himself down, he couldn't relax himself no matter how hard he tried. His whole body was on red alert from the attacks. His brain ripped apart as thoughts swam around his brain like a wildfire, his body felt as though it was vibrating. He couldn't make the tears stop, he couldn't make it go away.
Marco sat nearby in morbid silence, he hated seeing Jean like this and knowing it was someone else's fault. They had wanted to make Jean suffer like this and worse got a sick kick out of it. Rage pouring from him in waves, barely holding it together for the sake of not upsetting his friend more than he already was. He hadn't spoken since they arrived at Jean's, he couldn't bring himself to speak due to the anger within himself. He had locked the door and refused to open it until Sasha and the others arrived, he wasn't taking any more chances.
Eren stalked down the hallway with murder in his eyes, the same death glare he'd worn as a child when he learned what happened to Mikasa's family. The same rage when someone antagonised him or spoke down to him. Growling under his breath and an aura radiating from him that every other Omega, Beta and Alpha would be able to sense. The epitome of "approach with caution", the very mood that sent most people with common sense running in the opposite direction. He was angry and he would rip down everyone who even so much as mentioned Jean, his name didn't deserve to leave their lips. Jean was a far better person than half the scum who so easily turned on him thanks to Annie. How dare Annie do this, she was the worst human being he had met to date, there was nothing she could do to go against him. Her influence compared to his own family couldn't hold a candle compared to his authority. Reflecting on everything she had put Jean through, people throwing things like trash, confronting jean in public, mocking him, tearing away his privacy. Making sure there was nothing and nowhere he could hide to escape her torment. Worse he knew Alpha who would love to try their luck with Jean, unfortunately he had endured the company of enough Alpha's to know when they were treating their Omega badly. They wouldn't think twice about treating Jean the same way. Like hell, he would let anyone lay their hands on Jean, Jean belonged to him, they were paired, they were fated, Eren was in control of Jean's future and happiness.
Mikasa caught sight of Annie, quickening her pace to an inhuman level as she closed the gap between them, ripping her by the hair, causing her to scream in pain, some strands being yanked from her skull onto the ground. Ignoring the complaints coming from the blonde's mouth, knowing she didn't show Jean or Sasha the same mercy, people backing away in fear at the scene. Mikasa slamming her so hard against the wall it cracked, he sound of stone and concrete shattering upon impact. Gripping Annie around the neck so hard she choked, her nails digging into her soft skin "How dare you" she growled.
Annie coughed, the pain shooting through her skin was like nothing she had felt before. Mikasa truly was a different kind of Alpha, no wonder her family were so revered. But she wouldn't admit defeat just yet, she wasn't as strong as Mikasa but she could hold her ground at least "Something eating you Ackerman?" she mocked. It had been a while since she had seen Mikasa this angry, she had to say it was funny seeing her like this. Losing her cool and releasing the rage within herself.
"It was bad enough you just outed Jean to the whole school, taking away his security so you could seem cool. Watching like the bully you are. But you hurt Sasha, you hurt her friend, you hurt my family" Mikasa snarled. She was truly an apathetic witch, she had no remorse for any of her actions and took pride in it. She had managed to coax everyone into following her example and thought she could get away with it. She ripped someone else down because she thought they were useless, refusing to see the benefit of the doubt. Her black and white view on life was what made her so ignorant. She would be sure she would suffer for this, how she would ruin Annie's life the same way she ruined Jean's. She wouldn't be able to show her face in public without being the most hated person in the room.
Annie smirked, this had to be more than just about Jean, it always was. That Beta had truly gotten under her skin, the common farmer that had swooned her. Mikasa could have done so much better and yet she settled, how pathetic. "You really have a soft spot for that common Beta don't you" she mocked. Mikasa could have dated Jean, she was an Alpha after all and he had been into her during high school, but instead let her have Sasha. Mikasa could have anyone or anything she wanted, but she chose the common girl instead of what she deserved. She was disgusted that Mikasa was even an Alpha because she sure as hell never acted like one until she lost her temper.
Mikasa dug her nails in, Annie was really looking to bait her wasn't she? Well now wasn't the time to test her patience, because she had royally screwed up. "You hurt my mate, you hurt my girlfriend. But more so you just hurt Eren's soulmate, his fated pair. He was marked Annie" she snapped. She had no idea of the pit she had dug herself into and there was no way she could talk or blackmail her way out of it. Eren was never one to let go of a grudge when someone wronged him, you were either good or bad, it was as simple as that. Though Mikasa was more rational, even she was capable of holding grudges when someone severely screwed her over. Annie's eyes widened, a chill running down her spine like ice, peering at Eren from the corner of her eye with an expression of pure fear. Eren was the son of an infamous Alpha doctor, Grisha Yeager, fathering Eren with a Beta female Carla Yeager whom was previously a barmaid. But Eren still had a position in the Alpha world because of this, he was respected.
Eren glared at Annie, peering at everyone else around him, watching them, daring them to make a move against either him or Mikasa. But nobody moved an inch, watching like the cowards they were. His hands trembling, he wanted nothing more than to tear them down but he had more important matters at hand. "Anyone who lays a hand on Jean again, who thinks about so much as touching him, looking at him? I'll blind you" he warned. He wouldn't hold any mercy towards anyone who disrespected his Omega, hurt Mikasa or their friends. He hated people who took advantage of the weak for personal gain.
Mikasa dropped Annie to the floor like a sack of flour, apathetically releasing her grip as if it was nothing at all. Her legs dropping like jelly, choking on the ground as she glared down the pair. Crawling away from Mikasa and positioning herself against the wall until she got her strength back, realising the mess she had caused. "Let's go Eren" Mikasa warned coldly, she didn't know what she would do if she stayed here. But she knew she wouldn't be able to hold herself back.
Sasha hammered on Jean's door impatiently, she had to see him, she had abandoned school knowing it was no longer safe after knowing someone would want secrets. Looking to make fun of her or ask about Jean's omega nature. She was glad to be out of there, impatient the entire journey here, she needed to see him. "Marco, Öffne die Tür, bevor ich sie eintrete! " Sasha yelled. He didn't want to agitate her when she was in this state, she didn't make empty threats and he knew it, nobody wanted to get on the wrong side of Sasha. The door clicked to which Marco peered out of the crack before letting her in, unprepared for the strength of a heavily anxious Sasha. Sasha burst through the door as Marco locked it behind her, not bothering to chase after her. Nobody could reason with Sasha when she was in this state, her eyes wild and frantic "Where is he?" she begged.
"He's in his room, he hasn't moved since…." He trailed off, unable to finish his sentence. He knew she needed reassurance and after what she had endured alone at the college, her actions and mood was justified. It had been a shitty day for everyone.
Sasha pushed past him to Jean's room, not bothering to let him finish his sentence, she already knew what had gone down without him having to tell her. Storming through the house until she found his room, her heart aching with sadness as she opened Jean's door. He looked utterly pitiful, the epitome of depressed, this had to be hell for him. He was curled up on his bed, wrapped in blankets and sobbing, he looked utterly broken compared to how she met him this morning. Sharing coffee and laughter, a carefree moment of two best friends simply hanging out and joking around over breakfast before classes. Now it was all gone, that simplicity they had taken for granted was over, his life was ruined "Jean…" she trailed off. They didn't have to talk, they didn't have to move, they didn't have to do anything, she just wanted him to know she was here.
Jean raised his head, relief filling his eyes as fresh tears formed, he recognised her voice and he couldn't have felt safer. He didn't know what he would do, at first hearing the intense knocks he thought it would be an Alpha trying to get inside. Someone who had trailed them home without them knowing, but when he heard her voice he felt himself relax, he knew her scent anywhere "Sash…."he whispered.
Sasha dropped her bag and ran at him, not caring about the contents, not caring about what a mess she was making, it didn't matter now. She paced towards his bed, enveloping her arms around him, smothering him with affection, he deserved to be spoiled right now. Comforting him in a safe hug, cupping his head and nuzzling against him, trying to fight back the fresh tears that wanted to fall. She hated this, this whole situation was utterly messed up, she hated that he was being put through this. She wished more than anything that she could make it better, wishing she could undo everything and stop this from happening. "I'm so sorry Jean, I wish… I wish I'd been there, I could have… I wasn't there to protect you…" she stammered. How had so much gone so wrong in such a short period?
Jean softened, the scent of Sasha filling his senses and bringing him a sense of security that he had been robbed of. Knowing she was babying him and he needed that right now. He was beyond happy to see Sasha, he could tell she'd been crying, her eyes were all red and puffy, but he was in a worse state than she was. She must have run all the way here, avoiding any public transport that could have gotten her here faster. She never thought rationally under pressure, she was shaking and she was angry. She wasn't the kind of person you wanted to be on the wrong side of right now "You…. How…." he babbled.
Sasha pulled away smirking at him "I ditched, like hell I'm staying in that toxic cesspool. Connie is laying low and he skipped too, Mikasa and Eren are on their way" she reassured him. School was the last thing on her mind right now, she would explain to her parents later about what had happened but she wouldn't be able to focus with the way things were right now. She could get berated by her teachers later, maybe if they had paid attention to Jean and prevented this from happening, she wouldn't have left. Connie would have her back come what may, she would give him updates later before he eventually made his way here. Jean stiffened, he'd forgotten about Eren, god how would he be able to face him about this? What would he say? Hell, how had Eren handled Annie after everything she had done? "I'll make some tea, my mum always made tea when I was sad" she soothed. Jean wiped his bloodshot eyes but he couldn't help but smile a little, this was why he was friends with Sasha, she was a breath of fresh air, she was like sunshine. Sasha never got that mad, like hardly ever, it was like a rare moment when she lost control. To have her this frantic, protective and cursing in native German, she had to be pissed beyond belief. But it made him feel safer, knowing he had his guard dog around.
"So this girl has outed Kirstein, endangered him and others. He's staking out in his home and now your companions are laying low. Smart decision Mikasa…" Levi responded. He could understand why Mikasa would call him with an emergency, no doubt she would have confronted Annie and demeaned her for her actions. Like Niece like Uncle, they were too alike. He felt proud of her for defending the people closest to her, but he hoped she hadn't put herself at risk. Kirstein had once harboured affections for Mikasa, at one point even he believed they would end up being mates. However, her devotion to him was admirable and he respected how much she looked out for her friends.
"I'm worried about Sasha, she's endured enough in our relationship, now that Jean is under threat, her anxiety is spiking" she huffed. Sasha balanced more in her personal life than people realised, being raised as a hunter during her childhood, she was efficient in weapons and attack. She would no doubt use this as a career after college such as the police like Mikasa. Maybe she could become a mercenary, maybe she would choose to follow her love for food and open a business or work in catering. The pressure of matching up to Mikasa was something she struggled with rather frequently, proving herself and fighting for respect.
"Go to Sasha, calm yourself down until you feel rational again. Don't let Yeager do anything stupid, perhaps I can persuade the college to dump some students. Cleanse the air" Levi hummed. He knew she would be worrying like crazy, he could hear it in her voice, how much she needed her. While she laid low and calmed herself down, he would make sure to deal with the students giving them grief. From what he knew Leonhart was an Alpha, but compared to their family she had no position. The damage she had done was not something they would forgive and she would be punished deservingly.
"Are you going to kick out Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt?" Mikasa questioned, she never wanted to see them on campus again. She didn't want them anywhere near Jean or Sasha, she never wanted them to feel afraid. Though she had no resentment towards Reiner personally, she hated them for refusing to prevent what Annie had done, it made them enablers, which was just as bad. They would find another college to pursue their future, just nowhere they could do her friends damage. Bertholdt and Reiner were guilty by association for not preventing this from happening, knowing Annie may have been scheming this and didn't stop her. No matter their apologies or protest the damage had been done.
"No loose ends brat, a bad seed in a batch always ruins the crops" Levi chuckled before hanging up. Mikasa couldn't help but smile, her uncle had once again pulled through, though his methods were often unorthodox and his means of showing affection were odd at times. He did love Mikasa dearly. He'd been understanding of her loss due to losing his mother at her age, showing patience while raising her. Among a few others, Mikasa was fiercely loyal to him and cared immensely for him. They shared a common habit of insulting people that disrespected them or looked down on them, but in an embarrassing way rather than a cruel way.
"Well?" Eren pestered, he couldn't handle waiting any longer. Had she fixed anything? What was the verdict? What would happen to Annie once this was all over? No way in hell could she be allowed to still attend the college after what she had done. She'd blackmailed Jean and bullied him, something that not even the college heads would tolerate. He needed to know that Jean's worries were now dealt with and he wouldn't have to go back into hiding all over again.
"My uncle is going to speak to the head of the college, Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt are out" she smirked. This would be interesting indeed, she couldn't wait to hear from him how things went down. She knew he would bring hell down, making sure they knew just how much they messed up. He'd be sure to point out how Mikasa didn't lose her temper for no reason and just who's niece Annie had messed with. Though he didn't throw his title around, at times it did come in handy to prove a point.
"Your uncle is probably the only human being more terrifying than you, times like these that's useful" Eren hummed. He respected the hell out of Levi for his military strengths, but more so how he had taken in Mikasa when she had nowhere else to go. After learning how Levi had lost his mother at Mikasa's age, he couldn't help but be touched by that. He gave Mikasa the family she never had.
Mikasa reached out her hand to squeeze Eren's affectionately, she knew he meant it out of humour as well as seriousness. But it would take the heat off them for a while until they repaired the damage that had been done. "We need to go, Sasha will be waiting for us" she soothed, leading him away.
Sasha sat on the couch beside Jean in content silence, some show on Netflix playing in the background, this was the same ambiance they had shared before. Back in the sunshine drinking coffee, feeling like life had retained some form of peace. Almost as if nothing had changed whatsoever, which was soothing. Marco was stood in the kitchen brewing a pot of tea for them to share, leaving them alone with their thoughts and keeping himself busy. Nobody was sharing conversation, nobody wanted to speak, they couldn't think of anything positive that could be said. Sasha had brought them fresh tea leaves from home and some biscuits to share, knowing that they would all need something to regain their energy and help them relax.
Jean had calmed down significantly but had closed in on himself, hitting defensive mode and simply wanting to be alone with his thoughts and reflect. Curled up, his nose resting on his knees while he hugged himself, staring blankly at the screen. He wasn't paying attention to anything that was happening, he was mentally and emotionally drained, he just needed a distraction to divert the emptiness inside of him. Sasha was hugging a pillow like a vice while staring at the screen absentmindedly, she was acting like a guard dog, sat beside Jean the whole time she had been here, refusing to move. She sensed his sadness and wanted him to feel safe, so she every now and again she would flash him a smile or check in on him. Suddenly there was a loud banging knock from the front door, urgent and desperate, another surprise visitor after Sasha had arrived over an hour ago. The guests kept showing up out of nowhere, which was causing Jean some distress at being left out of the loop. Jean jolting on the couch in surprise, hugging himself in panic and edging down the sofa, hiding himself from view, becoming smaller and smaller. He looked like he was about to cry all over again, biting his lip and his gaze focused on the oblivion. Sasha stiffened and got into a fighting stance, blocking Jean from view as she glared in the direction of the door. She knew Jean was in no state to defend himself and he was too weak from emotional exhaustion and anxiety, he needed to rest but he was too on edge to consider napping. Though she knew Mikasa knew where she was, it could be any Alpha from their college that now knew about Jean coming to bully him, they had to be on their guard, she would protect her best friend no matter the cost.
"Sasha, baby, it's me. Let us in" Mikasa responded urgently, she knew she would be stressed out of her mind but trying to cope. She didn't have to feel alone anymore, she was here and she could breathe easier. They would get through this together and her uncle would fix most of the remaining damage, but she would fill Sasha in on the information later. Right now she just wanted to hold Sasha in her arms and calm herself out of this blinding rage that boiled in her blood.
"Mikasa!" Sasha called in relief, she felt like all the tension eased from her body. No longer counting down the hours and waiting for them to show up. Now they could discuss what happened and she could breathe easier. Mikasa would know what to do and what to say to make it all better, she would handle this. She felt as though she could cry, all of her emotions piling up at once as her walls crumbled. She hated how weak her anxiety made her, how it drained her, how she felt like she was suffocating under the pressure. But she had coped as best she could and she knew Mikasa would be proud. Marco walked to the door, opening it slowly after peering through the peephole, allowing Mikasa and Eren entry.
Mikasa burst through the door in a mad haze, apologetically glancing at Marco for her strength before redirecting her attention to what she was looking for. Her gaze immediately fell to Sasha sat defensively on the couch beside Jean, her eyes lit up and she could see the puffy exterior of Sasha's eyes. She knew she had been crying, putting on a brave face to seem responsible so nobody would tease her, she'd done well. Mikasa bolted from the doorway to Sasha, wrapping her arms around Sasha and leaping on her like a wild animal, pinning her into an affectionate hug while crushing the couch cushions. Breathing in Sasha's scent, feeling herself instantly relax, back in her safe space "You're ok…." Mikasa mumbled softly. She could smell no blood, see no injuries and Sasha didn't wince in her embrace confirming her suspicions.
Sasha blinked before humming fondly, she could sense the tension in Mikasa's body and she could sense her anger and relief. She'd been through a lot today but she knew it would have all been for Jean's sake. She felt so happy to know she could rely on Mikasa when she needed help the most. "I'm a tough cookie" she laughed painfully, hoping she wouldn't start crying all over again. Mikasa relaxed, easing against Sasha and simply laying atop her while Sasha held her, her soft warm skin, her gentle arms, her chunky curves so soft and cuddly, her long brown hair tickling her nose. She could smell tea leaves on Sasha, something that reminded her of her uncles home. She felt as though she could fall asleep in this moment from all the accumulated stress.
Eren walked quickly into the hallway while Marco locked the door, he couldn't thank Marco enough for staying here with Jean and getting him out of there as fast as he had. He owed him a debt of gratitude he didn't know how he could repay, but he would think of something. His gaze urgently flickering across the home until it fell on Jean, his eyes were bloodshot from crying, they were puffy and swollen. He looked like a mess, he'd been through the wars and it showed all over him. His lip was cut, he had a scrape on the left side of his cheek, he was bruised and he could smell the fear. Jean raised his head to acknowledge Eren with a guilty and ashamed expression, hating to be seen looking so weak and helpless. His eyes begging for love and yet hesitation as he struggled with his feelings. Neither of them knew what to say but understood what they felt "Eren…." Jean trailed off his voice wobbling.
Eren mimicked Mikasa, it felt like an eternity since he had seen Jean, time had passed by so quickly and he hated himself for leaving Jean alone. Rushing towards Jean in a heartbeat, closing the gap between them, pulling him close, nuzzling his face in his soft hair. Feeling his Omega's heart hammering in his chest, happiness and relief washing over him, wrapping his arms around Jean protectively. He felt as though he may even start to cry himself out of anger and self hatred "Thank god, after what Annie did. I lost my mind with worry, I felt sick thinking that… because I wasn't there…." he babbled. Jean softened, he'd never seen Eren in such a state before, sure he and Eren had argued in the past but when Eren lost his temper it was never like this. He seemed utterly broken and frightened, like he had lost something precious. Eren was shaking, he could smell his rage and anxiety, like a lost child trying to understand something beyond his knowledge. He was really worried about him, nobody had ever cried so much over him before. He felt himself crying all over again, Eren had found him just like he knew he would, his Alpha was here, he felt so safe, so loved and so protected. He couldn't undo what had been done but he wished it had been different, wishing Eren was there by his side when it happened. Burying himself against Eren tearfully, hiding his face in Eren's chest so he couldn't see the fresh tears.
Eren growled, he didn't want Jean to cry anymore, he didn't want him to feel helpless or like a burden. He had every reason to be upset but he would do whatever he could to fix what had been broken. He would bring back Jean's smile at any cost, smothering kisses across Jean's face, his cheeks, his eyes, his lips, marking Jean with his scent, showering him with kisses so he wouldn't forget the taste. Sensing Jean soften and relax as kisses rained down upon him, the happiness it was bringing him. The response of pheromones and serotonin washing through Jean showed it was working, it was helping him feel better. Holding and touching him so he felt safe, until the bad memories went away and all he could think about was Eren "I'm here baby, I'm here. You aren't alone" Eren soothed.
Eren sat beside Jean, their bodies practically touching as Eren guarded his mate closely, he'd lost his appetite and he was too on edge to try eating. He had apologised to Marco for bursting through the door the way he had but been understanding. No damage had been done and they were here now which is what mattered. Now they were all sat having a tea party which Levi would have been amused by, but not a word was spoken between any of them. His hands wrapped around a cup of tea which he sipped slowly, his gaze never once averting from Jean the whole time. He remembered when he was young, his mother would make stew with bread, fresh tea or even simply wrap Eren in a blanket and hold him when he was upset. On the rare occasion she would make him milk and honey to cheer him up. Jean sipped his tea slowly, staring into oblivion as he reflected mentally on everything that was happening, he was surrounded by the people who cared for him in a safe space. Nobody could hurt him here, nobody would come looking for him here, his friends would keep him safe. He felt calmer with Eren here, he felt relieved, it was better than being alone. He would sleep well tonight and he still planned on staying with Eren, he doubted Eren would mind if he crashed with him for a while.
Sasha was curled up on Mikasa's lap while she sipped some tea and nibbled a biscuit, she looked like she may fall asleep at any second. Mikasa was sipping her tea and enjoying a biscuit while her head remained rested on Sasha's shoulder. Both looked exhausted and within good reason, both had been worried about the other. Their anxieties had drained them of all their energy and neither had been able to focus with all that had occurred. No doubt Mikasa would be returning to her uncles to discuss what had happened and taking Sasha with her, it was the safest place she could be. Wherever Mikasa went, Sasha went, it was as simple as that.
Marco sat alone on a seat watching them cuddle together, he was still single but he was content in doing so. He wanted love to find him and nobody was currently on his mind. He had to admit this was adorable, the utter loved-up state of his close friends was like watching a rom-com for free, seeing them all so happy. Mikasa had calmed herself, her tension and temper eased, but she remained glued to Sasha. Marco hummed, trying not to crack a smile like an idiot "So, have you all chilled out now?" he asked. He'd lock up afterwards and take the spare key with him, but only when Jean wanted to and he felt content. They had nowhere to be and time to kill.
Mikasa peered up at Marco, the tea was good, she appreciated how he was helping them out like this and how he had risked his safety getting Jean away from the fight. Marco was a loyal friend and he was often seen as non confrontational, when in fact he was simply rational, level headed and kept to himself. He was good at brewing and he was a skilled homemaker, she could tell it was Sasha's black tea from home. She had always loved it, even her uncle approved which for him was a big deal, unknown to others Sasha knew a great deal about wild plants and herbs that could be foraged and made edible. Her family came from a long line of hunters and survivalists, which was a crucial skill these days. She knew how to grow tea leaves, she knew how to hunt and survive in a crisis, she may have been a Beta but she was skilled. "Jean, you need to eat something" Mikasa responded absentmindedly, turning to him as he remained positioned sleepily on Eren's shoulder. He'd been through a lot today and he needed to regain his strength, his body would appreciate it. His crying would have sapped the last of his energy too, he would be dehydrated and hungry at the same time. Jean shifted, staring into his cup, he knew she was right, but he couldn't stomach anything heavy right now. The idea of food still made him feel uncomfortable, he didn't know what he would be able to keep down or cope with, he didn't want to waste anything.
"Marco, is there anything in the fridge for porridge? Stew? Anything?" she questioned, she had learned to cook briefly from her parents and then her uncle and his girlfriend Hanji had taught her. She could handle the basics and even some decent cooking too, she needed to keep herself busy but she wanted to make sure Jean was taken care of. As much as she cared about Eren, his cooking skills weren't the best.
Marco smiled guilty, he didn't know the last time Jean had gone food shopping and it would be a while until next time. Having food delivered tended to get expensive too "Sorry Mikasa, I… in all the panic I… I never checked" he apologised. He felt like an idiot but food had been the last thing on his mind, in all the panic everything else had become irrelevant. Reflecting now he really should have checked and asked them to bring something on their way over. Mikasa hummed, kissing Sasha's cheek before getting to her feet to check the fridge, rummaging through Jean's supplies curiously.
"We… we took care of Annie, I doubt she'll cause any trouble, not unless she wants to face Levi in person" Eren responded calmly. After Mikasa had lost her temper, confronting Annie in such a severe way, calling her out on her cruelty, he doubted she would be pulling any further stunts. Marco stared at Eren in awe, what was he talking about? He knew they were worked up before he arrived, but just what had gone down? "We tracked down Annie around the campus, she had been gossiping to anyone within range about Jean. Mikasa confronted her and made it clear she'd picked the wrong fight. I doubt she'll do anything knowing Jean is my mate" he responded.
Jean stiffened, nearly spilling the tea, he thought they were keeping their relationship private until they were sure. Now Mikasa and Eren had spilled the beans meaning everyone would be talking about them as a couple. It was the one thing he asked of Eren and now everyone would be asking about how they met, how long they had been together, among many other personal questions. He felt his cheeks darkening at what he would face upon returning to college "Your… wait… everyone knows?" he babbled.
Eren bowed his head apologetically "Mikasa she, we were so angry at what happened, she was so pissed at what she did to Sasha, she told everyone about us being a pair…." he trailed off. He completely understood why Jean would be mad about this, they were still new in their relationship, I mean it had been a month but anything could happen. How did anyone react to meeting their soulmate at aged seventeen?
Jean blushed, so his relationship with Eren wasn't so private anymore, there were no more secrets, no more reasons to hide. Nothing to be ashamed of, and yet it opened the doors to all new problems. But he knew he would be protected now, he had people looking out for him. Nobody would try something like that again, not unless they had a death wish. Eren had influence, he could pull strings that would get people to back off and leave Jean alone. His father was a prolific doctor and deeply respected, expected to follow in his fathers footsteps. He was childhood friends with Mikasa, another prolific Alpha bloodline, someone people knew better than to get on the wrong side of. He had protection, his friends had protection, at least now everyone would get off his case about it. He could breathe easier and know he could simply bring Eren or Mikasa into the conversation to get people to understand their bond. Honestly, he had to admit watching his bullies get their butts kicked was something he wished he could have seen. Jean leaned over to kiss Eren softly, smiling back shyly "Danke Eren, not many guys would kick butt for me like that". He really did appreciate how far Eren went for him, the effort he put in. It proved that Eren was different, he didn't look down on him, he respected him. That was all he had ever wanted.
"I'd be a crappy boyfriend if I didn't" Eren scoffed but smiled back, he never had to ask, if he needed help Eren would always be there. How many times did he have to prove himself to show he cared. At least now Jean understood that he was willing to do anything for him. Beating up Annie, sending her a warning, getting rid of his harassers and even asking him to come stay with him till everything cooled off. They were a team and he wanted Jean to be himself around him, at least now he had earned his trust.
Jean sighed heavily, it was just one problem after the other these days "College is going to be chaos for a while, I can't go back yet. I'll work from home for a few weeks and work will need more time off. But… laying low is my best bet for now…" he groaned. He would have to ask his teachers to email him his works or have Sasha collect the paperwork he couldn't email. He would have to ask a lot of favours with a lot of work to be done.
"I talked to my uncle, Reiner, Annie and Bertholdt can kiss their courses goodbye. After the stunt they pulled, they won't be showing their faces around campus" Mikasa responded. She knew he would breathe easier knowing they would never cross paths with each other again. Jean blushed, why would Mikasa go this far for him? She had blackmailed them into leaving and used her uncles influence to be sure they wouldn't be able to go against her. He had a stupid boy crush on her back when they were fifteen, but she had gone so far as to pull his harassers from the college completely.
"You… Mikasa that's too much" he protested, she didn't have to do this for him, she didn't owe him anything. He wouldn't be able to repay her for this and he would feel guilty for it.
Mikasa turned towards him "Jean, you brought me and Sasha together, that's a debt I can never repay. She's like your little sister, you're her family. Sasha means the world to me and what happened devastated her. That makes you family to me too" she reassured him. He had no reason to feel guilty or believe he owed her anything, he had done so much for her without ever knowing it. She would always be there for him, no matter the favour she would always do what she could.
Jean bowed his head, but he couldn't stop smiling like an idiot, what did he ever do to get this lucky? He had to be spoiled with the best friends a guy could ask for. They had done all this for him, making sure his shield was mended and his security returned. "Danke guys... I… I don't know how I ever got this lucky…" he trailed off. What had he ever done to deserve such kindness from others?
Eren pouted, why was he acting like he didn't deserve love? Why was he acting so surprised that they would go to all this effort to make him happy? He deserved the world "Stop sulking damn it, it's because we love you that's why! Like hell, I'm going to let some stuck up assholes pick on my boyfriend" he huffed. He couldn't handle it when Jean got all pouty, when he put on the puppy dog look. Jean was loved and he would never let him forget that fact. He wrapped his arms around Jean "Your worth to me isn't measurable Jean, it's the same for all of us. Stop acting like you don't matter, Omega or not you always have" he replied. He had value, he mattered and he would always be important, his status as an Omega would never change that.
Mikasa turned, holding a plate of snacks, sensing their noses twitch and Jean's attention return to her. She was glad he still had some appetite, "I'm taking up a part-time position at your work" Mikasa responded. She wouldn't accept any arguments or protests, she had made up her mind and it was final. Besides she had been looking at a part time job for college anyway. It was just convenient that she happened to be working alongside a classmate now too.
Jean panicked, she was really going out of her way wasn't she? He knew he couldn't persuade her but maybe he could understand why. Surely she would want to work alongside Sasha wouldn't she? They could be closer together and spend more time with each other, why choose his workplace? "huh? Mikasa, wait a second... you can't" he babbled. He'd never had any issue at work before and he hoped after the cool off it would remain that way. He could only hope for the best.
Mikasa shrugged, she didn't mind and she had already decided "Sasha thought it was a good idea, it will bring you both relief and I can make sure nobody gives you trouble" she argued. The workplace wasn't far from either hers or Sasha's flat, meaning she could travel home or to her girlfriends after a long shift and collapse in bed. It was rather convenient and it payed decent wages too, so there was nothing to worry about. She had chosen this of her own free will, she knew Jean would be lonely on his own and after what happened he would be cautious. She wanted him to be able to relax knowing she was around. Jean didn't know what to say, he was being spoiled so much it felt wrong, he couldn't possibly ask for more from them. But he had a family, Mikasa was right about that, his family was growing. His boyfriend, his two sisters in Mikasa and Sasha and his brothers in Connie and Marco, he never had to feel alone again.
