Elliot had just walked into his apartment when his phone started to ring. He looked down at the caller ID.

Fin.

"Fin, shouldn't you be on your way to your honeymoon right about now?" He tried to sound causal and not have his growing irritation be heard.

"We have a few hours before we leave. Man, what happened last night?"

Elliot sighed, should he be honest? You know what, he is already deep in it anyways. "I went to Olivias after I walked around for a bit. She kissed Edgar." Maybe if he left it at that Fin would back off.

Fin made a sound with his mouth, "who cares? Did you talk to her?"

"Yea, we did some talking." He sat down on the couch and sat back.

"Oh, you did some talking did you? How many times did you talk?"

The gig was up. He knew.

"Fin, it's not going to work out. She flat out told me that she was going to continue to see Edgar. "

"You guys communication skills suck."

"I'm not going to just sit around and wait."

There was silence on the other end, "Fin? Are you there?"

"You can't be serious."

Elliot started to clear his throat when Fin cut him off.

"For 12 years I watched as Liv waited. She waited for you, all the while still trying to be supportive of your marriage and family. She put her life on the back burner for you, sabotaged every relationship, turned down plenty of dates, to see to your emotional needs. Then you left and I watched her suffer for much longer than I would like to admit. Any time someone mentioned your name she froze and then spiraled. She has had to deal with so much shit, she got called out by that psycho in court about you!"

"Fin, wait-"

"Then you have the fucking nerve to say you love her after 22 years, sleep with her and demand a committed relationship in 24 hours? Man, you have some god damn balls, I'll give you that."

Now it was Elliots turn to be silent. He had no idea what to say to that. What psycho?

"Listen, Liv is my best friend. I want what is best for her and if your dumbass is what makes her happy then that is what I want. But we are not going to do this shit again. Not ever again. I swear to god I will kill you myself if you fuck this up. Fix it Stabler." With that he hung up.

Elliot took the phone from his ear and stared at it. He was completely caught off guard. What a morning. Fix it? Fix it how?

Elliot knew better than anyone that when Liv was hurt pulling away was what she did best. He sighed loudly just as someone knocked on his door. He got up and opened the door in a huff.

Maureens eyes widened as she watched her father try to reel in his obvious irritation. "I was in the neighborhood.."

Elliot smiled at her, "sure you were, come in."

She walked past him and he shut the door behind her.

"You seem pretty dressed up this morning." She took in his crumbled clothes and raised her eyebrow while she questioned him.

Elliot ran his hand down his face, "Yea well, I haven't changed since the wedding last night."

Maureen said a soft "Oh" before turning to walk into the living room to sit down.

"What's up Maureen? Is everything ok?" He followed after her.

"Look Dad, about Olivia. We all love her, especially me, I really don't want you to scare her off."

Elliot stared at his daughter. Is she psychic? "Honestly babe, I think that ship might have sailed."

"You pushed her didn't you? You always want everything on your timeline." She seemed slightly irritated but not overly so. "Think about it dad. We all abandoned her, not just you, and now we all have overwhelmed her life, all at once. Olivia is a saint but she is still a person. Right now what she needs is reassurance."

Elliot shifted his weight from one foot to the other uncomfortably.

"I won't pretend to know about you and Olivias relationship, or what happened between the wedding and now, but I know you care for her. Just give her a moment to breathe, okay?" With that she stood and walked over to him, giving him a kiss on the cheek. "Love you dad, talk to you later ok?"

He nodded and watched her leave. As the door clicked behind her, he decided both her and Fin were right. He needed to fix this.

Edgar text Olivia the address for the restaurant and he was waiting for her as the taxi arrived. The restaurant was small but cute and they got a table outside since it was such a beautiful day. Olivia smiled at him as he pulled her chair out for her and watched him walk across the the table to sit in front of her. He ordered them both mimosas and she looked over the menu.

"Did you sleep well last night?"

Olivias eyes widened as she looked at the menu. She smiled at the waitress as she took her mimosa from her and took a large sip, nodding at him. "Did you?"

If he thought she was acting strange he didn't let on. He simply nodded back at her and smiled. "I'm really glad we could meet. I feel like we might have left things a tad awkward last evening and I wanted to make sure we were alright."

He seemed so sincere which was very endearing. She suddenly felt like a terrible person. Not only had she had a wonderful evening with him during the reception but now she was just leading him on further with brunch. Maybe she should tell him about last night. She cleared her throat and shifted uncomfortably in her seat. "Edgar.."

"Olivia?"

Olivia looked around at her name in confusion and then she saw him. "Dickie."

Dickie approached her table with a smile. He looked good and she suddenly became very nervous about what he might say about her and Elliot. Shit. These freaking Stablers.

Olivia stood up from her chair and leaned in to give Dickie a hug and was surprised when he kissed her cheek. She pulled back and smiled at him. Olivia marveled at the man in front of her. There was a time, when he was a teenager and he resented everything about her, so worried his dad and her were having an affair. Unfortunately, that is how Olivia mostly remembers him but she still does recall the little blond boy she first met.

"What a surprise. Liv, I'm so glad to run into you." Dickie turned towards Edgar.

Olivia stood confused for a moment before introducing the two. "Edgar this is Elliots son Dickie. Dickie this is Edgar, he is a defense attorney." What?

Edgar too, looked confused by her introduction but shook Dickies hand anyways. "Nice to meet you Dickie."

"Please call me Richard, Dickie is a childhood nickname only family use." He turned and smiled at Olivia.

Olivia smiled back genuinely. Does he consider me family? She reached up and placed her hand on his shoulder a bit loss for words.

"Sorry, I didn't mean to interrupt your meal, I just had to come say hi." Dickie patted Olivias hand on his shoulder before she dropped it. "Liv, I wanted to say that none of us feel badly about that night. We all love you and hope that you and dad work everything out." He grabbed her hand and squeezed it gently. "You are family Liv, I have known you almost my whole life, you just fit." He let go of her hand and turned towards Edgar saying how nice it was to meet him and then left.

Olivia stood there in shock. She watched him leave, not knowing what she was supposed to do with that information.

Edgar cleared his throat and brought her back to the present. Liv smiled tensely at him and sat back down. She downed her mimosa in one drink and put the glass back down.

Edgar leaned back in his chair and fiddled with his silverware slightly. "Olivia, I'm only going to ask one more time and then I will let it drop, is there something to you and Elliot?"

She felt his gaze, he was trying to say it nonchalantly but she could see he was uncomfortable. How am I supposed to answer that? Why yes Edgar, just last night I crossed every line and had a very full-filling sexual experience with him? Shit, she was screwed.

She cleared her throat. "It's complicated." That's all she could think to say.

"It seems complicated. Listen, I really don't want to get mixed up in a weird love triangle situation and from what this Richard just said it seems that there is more than you are letting on."

Olivia just stared at him. He didn't seem upset, he said it in a calm and direct manner. Always the lawyer. "Honestly Edgar, I am not sure anymore. Elliot and I were so ingrained in each other's lives, most of his children's childhoods really." She waved her hand absentmindedly. "But he left, all of them did, for ten years. I'm not sure what I am to any of them anymore." She said the last part quietly. "I'm sorry, this is really not your problem. Can we just have a nice meal?" She looked up hopefully.

Edgar nodded, "how about we just take everything one day at a time." He turned to the waitress and order two more drinks and they both ordered their food.

Olivia listened as he talked about what he had planned for the day and some story about a cab he obviously found very amusing but all she could think about was what Dickie had said. We hope you and dad work it out. Edgar seemed to be waiting for a reaction so she smiled and nodded quickly. Their food arrived and they started to eat in silence. How the hell did I get here? Olivia began to wonder for the millionth time since Elliots return.
