Narcissa woke early the next morning to the sound of Harry crying. She went to the little boy in the nursery.

"Little Harry, darling," she cooed as she picked up the crying boy.

"Mummy? Dada? Pa'foot?" The boy wobbled.

"Oh, little darling. Mummy and Daddy went away. They'll be gone for a very long time, I'm afraid. Is Padfoot one of your toys? Or your cat? Your cat is here, baby," the woman said, gesturing to the feline who insisted on sleeping on the rug in front of Harry's bed. Draco was cuddled with his puffskin, still fast asleep,

"Siwius. Pa'foot?" The baby said again.

"Do you mean Sirius? My cousin? I guess you would know him well, wouldn't you. He was best friend's with James Potter," she said, remembering the stir Sirius caused when he ran away to live with the Potters. As far as Narcissa knew, he was still the heir to the Black family. Maybe it would do her some good to reconnect with him, now that she, Lucius, and by association, Draco, were on the side of the light. It might do her some good to make some neutral and possibly some light side friends.

She called for Mipsy, "Mipsy, can you change Harry and get our breakfast ready? When you're through with that, I'll have a letter for you to deliver. Perhaps we should get a few owls from the Manor to live here?"

"A few owls might be nice, Mistress. Do you be wanting any particular owls?" Mipsy asked.

"Just get two small owls. I want to be as inconspicuous as possible while we are in hiding," Narcissa replied. That's what they were doing. They were living in hiding, trying to escape all the Death Eaters who would think them traitors due to the apparent circumstances of Lucius' death. They would be safe here, under the blood wards. Narcissa could feel their power. It made her feel safe.

Mipsy popped off to do Narcissa's bidding. Little Harry was soon changed and dressed for the day. Narcissa took the boy down to the dining room to begin breakfast. He ate half heartedly. He kept asking for his mother, father, and Sirius.

Narcissa ate slowly, feeding the baby between bites. Soon, Draco joined them, dressed in his little grey robes for the day. Draco ate his breakfast while curiously watching little Harry pick at his own. Draco tried to talk to the other baby but Harry was too upset to engage with him very well.

"How would you like to fly on your brooms this morning?" Narcissa asked, in an effort to cheer up little Harry. He perked up at the suggestion. Narcissa let Dobby take the little boys to the pavilion out front to ride their little brooms for an hour or so. Narcissa wrote a letter to Sirius.

Dear Sirius,

As you likey know, my husband was killed in the effort to protect the Potter family last night. My condolences for the loss of your blood brother, James Potter, and his wife, Lily. Lucius and I were fortunate to become good friends with James and Lily over the last year. We became so close, in fact, that Lily secretly named me Harry's godmother and gave custody to me in the case of their deaths. Harry has been asking for you. There is more I must tell you but would prefer to only discuss the issues in person. I ask you to please come to Number 4 Privet Drive, Little Whining, Surrey, at your earliest convenience. It is imperative that I see you today, if possible.

My condolences,

Narcissa Malfoy, nee Black

Naricss stared down at the short letter and sighed. There was so much more she had to say. She was pregnant with James and Lily's baby, for gods' sake. She was pregnant with her own baby as well. It didn't feel real. She was starting to feel like she might have acted rashly. Raising four children alone would be a serious hardship but she was sure she could manage.

Mipsy popped into the room and took the letter. Narcissa would never receive a response.

"Please bring me a Daily Prophet when you return," Narcissa ordered gently.

Narcissa was sure the Prophet was having a field day with the Dark Lord gone and the Potters and Lucius dead. Before she could deal with any of that, she needed to handle the Muggle sister of Lily Potter.
