Chapter 8: Better Late than Never

Naruto and Kakashi were not too far from Ame and Naruto's sensory skills were going wild, they told him that there was something happening in Ame, possibly a big battle.

They arrived in Ame and saw the destruction there, Naruto entered his Phoenix Sage Mode and tried to sense Konan, he also sensed Madara and he then said "Sensei, you go over there, Konan is there but barely alive, go and help her and I will take this Madara."

Kakashi went to the direction in which Naruto pointed and Naruto himself ran off before it was too late. He thought 'Kurama, a power boost please, I need it right now.'

Kurama nodded in his mind and sent his chakra through Naruto, strengthening his muscles and making him go faster.

Madara had already picked one of Nagato's Rinnegan; he went to pick the other one but was met by a kick to his head. Naruto picked up the second one and sealed it in a scroll which he sealed with a blood seal and put in one of his pockets of the Flak Jacket.

Kakashi arrived with Konan on her back and he put her before Naruto who made a clone to heal her.

Madara stood up and they could see that his upper half of the mask was broken. Naruto smirked and said "So you are not really Madara are you?"

He sneered and said "You have won this time, but not fully, I have one of the Rinnegan and it is enough for my plans, the world will be controlled by the Uchiha." He then disappeared through his Jutsu again.

Naruto looked at Konan who was stable currently but needed attention, he made a seal on her and transferred Kurama's chakra through that seal healing Konan, he picked her up and went to the tallest tower, presumably the Kage Tower.

He laid Konan on the bed and went outside to see the massive crowd that was gathered there and they were asking questions like

"What happened to Angel-sama?"

"Is Angel-sama safe?"

"Who are you?"

Naruto held up his hand to quiet them and said "I am the Rokudaime Hokage of Konoha, Uzumaki Naruto and Konan-san is safe, she will be back up in a day. She is just suffering from Chakra Exhaustion; there is nothing to worry about."

One civilian shouted "Hey, this is the new Hokage; due to him Angel-sama was able to change Ame very much, we even have a treaty with them."

The crowd started cheering and saying things like

"Arigato Naruto-sama"

"Angel-sama is safe"

"You are great"

Naruto smiled and dismissed the crowd and went back inside to check on Konan who was still sleeping and aside her was Kakashi on a chair who said "We were just on time Naruto, any more and she would have died."

Naruto nodded and said "Yes sensei, we were lucky, but I was a fool, I should have done this earlier, I had a full freaking month."

Kakashi sighed and patted Naruto on the back and said "You had a whole village to look out for Naruto, then the treaties and better late than never."

Naruto sighed and nodded at his sensei's words. He then saw Konan waking up, she stirred and opened her eyes and looked around and saw Naruto and Kakashi, she then remembered what happened and tried to get up, only to find that the pain in her chest prevented her from doing so.

Naruto said "It's good that you are alright, we came at the last moment and saved you but Madara still got one Rinnegan, the other one is safe with me."

Konan breathed a sigh of relief and explained "Nagato's eyes were transplant, that's why he was not able to turn them off. They were the eyes of the real Madara who survived his battle against Shodaime and took a piece of his DNA, because he needed it to awaken the Rinnegan."

Naruto interjected "Does that mean if I an Uzumaki, a cousin of the Senju was to transplant the eyes of an Uchiha, then I will be able to awaken the Rinnegan."

Kurama growled and said "Bring both of them here gaki."

Naruto nodded and fist bumped both Kakashi and Konan who went into Naruto's mindscape, they along with Naruto stood in front of Kurama who sighed and said "To awaken the Rinnegan, you need Rikodu-Sennin's chakra, meaning that you will have to mix the chakra of both his sons Indra and Ashura, as far as I know, Madara and Hashirama were the Transmigrants of Indra and Ashura respectively, therefore Madara was able to awaken Rinnegan, as for the current Transmigrants…"

He looked at Naruto and said "They are you and Sasuke."

This shocked everyone there; Naruto was the reincarnation of the founder of the Senju and the Uzumaki clans and the youngest son of Rikodu Sennin.

Kurama said one last thing before kicking them off the mindscape "I know that you don't believe in fate but, you and Sasuke are fated to battle one another and it will continue until the Cycle of Hatred is broken."

On the outside, everyone was silent, from what they have heard anyone would be. Kakashi broke the silence as he said "Well, that was interesting."

Konan and Naruto also nodded. Konan then said "Naruto, for Nagato's and your sake, I want you to transplant his Rinnegan into yourself."

Before Naruto could say anything Kakashi continued "I also second that Naruto, to fight Madara, Akatsuki, Juubi and Sasuke, you will need everything."

Naruto groaned and replied "I don't have a choice do I?"

Both shook their heads and Naruto nodded. He then unsealed some clothes for Konan and told her to put them on as he and Kakashi went outside the room.

Konan changed into the clothes which were a Konoha Jonin Flak Jacket along with a Konoha full-sleeve undershirt, a short skirt (like Sakura wears vs Pein) and Metal-plated fingerless gloves.

Naruto told Konan of the developments and said "I will not stay here for long; we will leave tomorrow for Uzushiogakure"

Konan accepted their request and gave them a place to stay for the night.

Meanwhile with the Group searching for Bee

Neji and Kiba were working relentlessly to find Bee along with Samui, Omoi and Karui. Neji was even straining his Byakugan to force him to look farther. They had been doing this for the last 2 days to no avail.

They decided to call it day and begin their search again tomorrow.

With Naruto

The next day Naruto and Kakashi woke up, had breakfast, discussed some other things with Konan and went off to Uzushio as it would take them another 2-3 days to reach Uzu.

With the Others

Kiba was fuming and even Neji was in rage, every time they got a clue of Bee of managed to find him, he would run off, they then found the site of his battle with Kisame and Neji said "It looks like Bee-san is going back to Kumo, I don't think he would stay out anymore given his battle here with the Akatsuki."

Everyone nodded and Samui said "Arigato, Neji-san, Kiba-san, you can go back now, we will get Bee-sensei and since he is close to Kumo, Raikage-sama will feel his presence and handle him personally."

Both of them nodded and went off back to Konoha while the other three went towards Kumo, hoping to find Bee.

Meanwhile in Kumo

A large muscular man with dark skin was aimlessly walking down a road, with a small notebook in hand. Every now and then the man would jot certain lyrics in his book as he rapped to himself, people looked at him funny but he paid them no mind.

The man also had his blonde hair combed back with his Kumogakure Hitai-ate covering his forehead, as he continued walking through the street he failed to notice a strong chakra signature making its way to his direction. He was too engrossed in his notes to even pay attention to his surroundings.

He then felt a shiver down his spine as he heard a menacing voice call out to him, "Bee you fucking idiot" it said. The man named as Killer Bee decided to look behind him to see the source of the voice, but just as his head turned he felt a large hand squashing his head.

The large man squirmed in pain as he saw the culprit behind him, seeing none other than his brother made him shiver in fear. The Raikage had a pissed off look, it was clear that he was not pleased with him at the moment, he began to add a bit of lightning into his hand to make his younger brother suffer just a bit more.

"You idiot Bee, you made us all worry that you were captured by the Akatsuki. I had to call a Five Kage Summit because of you, and after all this time you weren't even captured. You just decided to take a fucking vacation" he yelled in anger.

Bee continually tapped the group, "Yo bro stop it I'm tapping out already" he said.

The Raikage shook his head as he released his hold on Killer Bee, he waited for the idiot to recover from his deserved punishment; Killer Bee shakily stood up while dusting himself off.

He was faced with a disappointed Raikage and still rapped "Yo bro, sorry about having to go. But I wanted to work on my show."

The Raikage rolled his eyes and told himself 'My brother is an idiot' before adopting a serious expression.

"Listen here Bee; things have turn to shit over the past few weeks. You may not know this but the Akatsuki have just declared war on the five nations, and we are preparing ourselves to fight them. The five nations are in this together with a new alliance, the Hokage is also the one leading this alliance" he explained.

Bee nodded his head in understanding, "I see so that Tsunade lady is our leader, I heard that she is as strong as an ox and as hot as a…" he sang.

A growled and warned "Finish that sentence and I will kick your ass again Bee."

Bee tried stopped his rapping but he couldn't but giggle in a slightly perverted manner as he thought about the lyrics in his head, the Raikage looked annoyed as he simply bonked his brother in the head.

"Enough of this you perverted idiot, there is a new Hokage and it isn't Tsunade-sama. The new Hokage is a young teenage kid, and apparently he is also the Kyuubi Jinchuriki. The alliance has decided that before the war begins we want you to train him to master the Kyuubi's power, just like how you did with the Hachibi. So what do you say Bee?" told/asked A.

Killer Bee's attitude quickly became serious upon hearing about this new Hokage, this piqued his interest and he wanted to meet this young Hokage. He extended his hand to his brother and said "You can count me in." A grinned as he shook his brother's hand.

"Good, in that case I suggest you return to Genbu. I will speak to the Hokage about these arrangements and I will inform you when he decides to start his training" informed A.

Killer Bee nodded in agreement before walking back to the opposite direction, he originally planned to lay low and chill around various areas within the Land of Lightning. But with this upcoming war, he had to change his plans, despite his passion for rap he was one of the most dedicated Kumo ninjas out there, and with a situation as dire as this he knew he had to prepare.

3 Days later- Wave Country

Both Kakashi and Naruto were standing on the entrance of the Great Naruto Bridge. Kakashi had a proud smile while Naruto….. did not know how to react. They saw a stone platform to their right and went over to read it.

Kakashi said "Well, looks like this thing has been here for the last 5-6 years and we never knew about it."

Naruto just walked through the bridge to the port and asked for the directions to Uzu. The sailors replied "Uzu? No one has been there for years, there are also whirlpools around there always, are you sure you want to go?"

Naruto replied "Don't worry, the barriers won't affect me, just tell me the directions."

They told him the directions as Naruto and Kakashi went over to the shore and Naruto summoned a Green Flame Phoenix with Blue Fire eyes, it said in a feminine voice "So you are Naruto-sama, my name is Kyoishina, what can I do for you?"

Naruto replied "Kyoishina-san, we want to go to Uzu, would you mid giving us a lift?" asked Naruto sheepishly.

She nodded and said "Of course, it's been ages since any Phoenix went there, I can but I would advise you to summon Kyoishika-sama as he would help you around Uzu as he has been there the most except the elders."

Naruto nodded as Kyoishina went back to the Phoenix Valley, Naruto again did hand seals and summoned Kyoishika who looked at Naruto and asked "What happened young Naruto, this does not look like battlefield."

Naruto answered "Kyoishika-sama, I summoned Kyoishina and asked her if she could give me a lift to Uzu, she said yes but told me that summoning you would be better as you know your way around Uzu."

"Of course climb on" replied the Rainbow-coloured Phoenix.

Both Naruto and Kakashi climbed on its back and went soaring leaving a beautiful trail of rainbow behind.

After 10 minutes, they arrived at the shores of Uzu, which looked like a ghost town, the buildings were all broken and there were dense forests around.

Naruto, Kakashi and Kyoishika used Katon Jutsus to burn off the Flora while they explored the island; many buildings had the Uzumaki Spiral on them.

They went over to the tallest building presumably the Kage Tower to look for anything. Naruto made 500 clones to explore and take anything they find. They entered the Kage Building and stumbled upon a seal which was very complicated even for Naruto, who was a Level 11 Seal Master.

Naruto studied the seal's outline and said "It's a restoration seal, that's for sure; it looks like a small version of the original design or the extension of the main seal."

Naruto pricked his thumb with a Kunai and smeared his blood over the seal. The seal glowed and spread over the Tower and slowly the whole Tower began to recover and rebuild from its rubble. Both Kakashi and Naruto were stunned when they saw this; it was truly a work of a Fuinjutsu genius, Naruto made a point to up his Fuinjutsu studies when he returned to help him in situations like these.

The whole tower was restored within 5 minutes and looked just like new. Naruto along with Kakashi began to discover the whole tower. He stumbled upon the library which has possibly thousands of scrolls and books on Fuinjutsu, Juinjutsu breaking, Ninjutsus, History, Politics, Architecture and many more topics. In the middle of the library was a statue which had a Katana at its foot.

Kurama woke up and said "Gaki, it's real; I remember Ashura and this Katana in the front was forged specially for the Saviour of the Uzumaki from what I remember from my time in Mito."

Naruto went to pick up the Katana, but a needle poked out of the platform which pricked his hand to draw out blood along with some of his Chakra.

The Katana glowed and disappeared and Naruto felt a sensation in his Right hand. He removed his gloves and saw an Uzumaki Spiral on his palm.

In place of the Katana was now a scroll. He picked it up and it read.

Dear Uzumaki

We don't have much time left, the combined forces of Kumo and Iwa are closing in and we will have to hold them. Help from Kiri and Konoha will take time to arrive.

I am writing this to let you know that this Katana was specially forged for you. So that you can use it to revive us and defend yourself. I wish to tell you that down in the river is a seal spread over whole Uzushio which will rebuild the whole village and call any Uzumaki survivor from the lands, but it could only be used by the clan head and beneath this statue is a special Dungeon which holds Uzumaki Mito-sama's special Sealing Katana made as a counter to Edo-Tensei.

I know that you will bring glory to our clan and revive us; we put our faith in you. My name is Uzumaki Arashi, Father of Uzumaki Kushina and the current clan head.

Naruto then realized that this letter was from his grandfather. He made a vow that after the war; he would revive the clan and rebuild Uzu back to its former glory.

Naruto smeared his blood over the platform of the statue which glowed and lifted to show stairs going down to the basement.

Naruto entered the basement and saw a special Katana which had a Golden Sheath and Black Handle. He picked it up and it got sealed in another Uzumaki spiral on his left hand. He read a note which replaced the Katana there.

Dear Uzumaki

I made this Katana especially for the purpose of breaking Edo-Tensei that Tobirama-baka made. He was decimating the Dead, what was he even thinking.

If you cut the head of an Edo-Tensei, then their soul would be sealed inside this sword. You can then use the seal on this sword to summon the Shinigami and exchange souls, but it only works for Edo-Tensei souls. The closer that person was to you, the more souls or the higher quality of souls would be required to exchange them.

Hope you will put this to a good use.

Former Clan Head

Naruto sighed as he left the dungeon, he knew one thing- he will not sit back in this war, with the current plans of the Akatsuki, it would be better if he fought himself along with Bee.

He went to the library and found Kakashi reading some scrolls on Raiton Ninjutsu. He approached him and said "Sensei, we have to leave, I am going to place several seals on this place to protect it and we will come back here after the war. Explanation while going back."

Kakashi sighed and nodded as several clones made seals to protect the place, which included a seal that restricts Jikukan Ninjutsu, a seal that placed a Genjutsu over the building to make it look like a pile of rubble. And several other seals.

Then he along with Kyoishika flew off to Konoha, not having the energy to run all the way.

Konoha

Sakura and Ino were greeted by the sight of Tsunade waiting for them. Sakura went over and hugged her and even shed a few tears. Everyone went back to their home as Sakura and Ino followed Tsunade to the hospital to talk to her about something 'important'.

Tsunade sat across Sakura and Ino and said "Explain."

Sakura asked "Short or long?"

"Short"

Ino replied "Naruto-C.R.A-Both of us want to please him."

Tsunade blinked and processed what they said and smiled and replied "Naruto certainly knows which girls to pick, two of the best and beautiful Kunoichi in Konoha are after him, I am sure a certain self-proclaimed super-pervert would be proud of him."

She then asked "Why do you want to please him so much?"

Sakura showed her Naruto's letter. Tsunade read the letter and Ino said "Tsunade-sama, as you can see, he thinks of himself as a burden, we don't want him to feel that way."

Sakura continued "We want to relieve him of his stress and burden and show him that we care for him and that he made no mistake in picking us."

Tsunade smiled even more and said "I am proud of both of you, especially Sakura; it's good that you are not making the same mistakes as me."

Both of them looked confused and Tsunade elaborated "What I mean by that is that you never really know what you have Sakura, until it's gone, Jiraiya and I were so much like you and Naruto right now. He would always ask me on dates and I would always refuse and hit him for being an idiot. He always loved me and I knew it, but I never acted on it. I was always too caught up with Dan, and don't get me wrong I still love Dan, but I just can't help but imagine how my life could have been had I accepted one of Jiraiya's dates."

Sakura and Ino were feeling sympathetic towards their master; they could see the direct relation between both Jiraiya and Naruto, and Tsunade and Sakura. They were broken out of her reverie once she heard her master chuckle dryly.

"It's funny because just before Jiraiya's death, during that mission to Ame I told him that when he returned I would finally go on one of those dates with him. But he never returned"

Both saw the sadness in their master's eyes and Ino said "We are sorry for your loss Tsunade-sama; Jiraiya-sama was a great man."

Tsunade smiled and said "Listen both of you, I'm telling you this for a purpose. Do not make the same mistake I did, Naruto loves both of you and he is willing to do anything for you, I can also see that you feel the same way about him and you admitted it just now and I am certain that Naruto will be happy with the idea that I have in mind."

She smirked which sent shivers down the spine of both of the girls; she leaned closed and whispered the idea to both of them.

As both of them listened to Tsunade, their face began to glow red. Sakura couldn't believe that Tsunade had suggested such a thing, especially with them being so young while Ino looked like she liked the idea very much.

Tsunade leaned back afterwards, she chuckled as she saw her blushing student; "Sakura trust me on this one. You need to take risks sometimes, and besides you need to go out and live a little. You need to have fun and do something bad every now and then. Also, Naruto will love this, trust me" she said with a wink.

Sakura gulped as impure thoughts surfaced on her head, she began to imagine what would happen if she did as Tsunade advised. After a while Sakura was too engrossed in her thoughts to notice some blood drip from her nose.

Tsunade smiled as she watched her student daydream, 'It looks like I got her, hook, line and sinker' she thought to herself.

Ino said dreamily "Come on Forehead, we need to plan what we have to do, especially with that monstrous stamina of his."

Sakura was blushing all shades of red and had a slightly perverted grin along with Ino. Both of them left without even looking at Tsunade which made her mutter something like disrespectful and horny students.

Outside- In Konoha

People were having a great day, most of Konoha had been rebuilt and now they were going on with their business, suddenly someone shouted "Hey is that Rokudaime-sama along with Kakashi-san?"

Everyone turned and was flabbergasted; Naruto along with Kakashi was flying on a Rainbow coloured Phoenix who was leaving a rainbow trail behind, the civilians were mesmerized, the younger and middle shinobi were thinking about Naruto's new contract but the older shinobi now knew whose son Naruto really was now, it had been nearly 19 years since they had seen Phoenixes and there was only one person who did it. It landed on the Hokage monument and went back to its home in a puff of smoke. Kakashi and Naruto obviously too tired, went to their houses to rest first and slept the whole day.

The Next Day

Naruto woke up to start his new day. He got dressed in his regular Jonin outfit with a white Haori like his father, along with his Katanas, pouches and kits. He also wore fingerless, metal-plated gloves this time to hide the swirls on his hands. He decided to first visit his fellow Uzumaki and then go to work. He made his clones again and sent them to do paperwork and training. He went over to the T&I headquarters and saw Ibiki and Inoichi waiting for him.

He went over to them and said "Found anything?"

Both shook their head as Naruto went inside to meet with his fellow clan member.

Karin was sitting and fuming; apparently Naruto- the Hokage took knocked her out and took her away from Sasuke. She saw as he entered the interrogation chamber and sat parallel to her on a chair.

Naruto looked at her and said "Well, it feels good to meet a family member at last."

Karin froze, did he just say- a family member. Before Naruto could continue she retorted "W-what do you mean by family member?"

Naruto smiled and responded "I am Uzumaki Naruto; here on the report it says you are Uzumaki Karin."

Before Karin could question him, he said "You probably would have heard of my Kaa-san Uzumaki Kushina."

She froze again; Uzumaki Kushina was the last Uzumaki Clan Head or so people thought if the person in front of her was indeed her son.

Naruto sighed and removed his gloves; he also placed his mother's Katana on the table. He placed his hands on the table showing an Uzumaki Swirl on both of them and asked "This removes your suspicion or not?"

Karin's eyes widened and she merely nodded as the seals on Naruto's hands were Uzumaki weapon seals and the Katana was just…just.

He then asked "So, what was someone like you doing with Orochimaru?"

She sighed and told him her story as how her mother and she had the special ability, how Orochimaru found her and how she ended up helping him in his experiments.

Naruto listened to all this as behind the glass, Inoichi and Ibiki took notes on all the information.

Naruto stood up and said "Well you are cleared, but you will be on House Arrest for 2 Months, for those 2 months, you will stay at the Uzumaki-Namikaze compound, someone will escort you there. I will come at night imouto."

Karin gasped as tears welled up in her eyes before Naruto could leave she said "Arigato, Onii-chan."

He smiled and replied "Now, what good of an onii-chan would I be if I left my imouto."

He hugged her as she cried on his shoulder, after a while he left for his office as someone came and escorted Karin to her new house.

Naruto was training as he had already settled matters for the day, he called for a council meeting tomorrow, Karin was good but he still felt a shiver go down his spine as he approached his home.

He entered his house and found Karin reading a book on Sealing while another opened book on Medical Arts.

He sat down and said "So you have found something interesting to do."

She smiled and replied "Hai, Onii-chan, as an Uzumaki seals attract me naturally, and with my ability, medical arts should not be difficult."

Both of them ate their dinner as Karin went to sleep. Before Naruto could go he heard a knock at the door and went to see it.

Soon Naruto arrived in front of his door, he opened it and his eyes widened in surprise, in front of him were the people he least expected to see.

"Sakura-chan and Ino-chan?" he asked.

"Naruto we need to talk to you" said both in unison.
