Chapter 8

The summer was busy and different. Ana was no longer going to work with Olivia or Trevor. She was with Amanda and Christian all day, with Lucy watching them. He even put Lucy on to work, "Lucy you might as well help, you're here every day." Dominick was with Elliot every day. He was better working in yards, than making shirts and phone calls. They were busy working.

Christian was serious about work. If Amanda and Ana slacked off he yelled. They both hated when he got upset. Even Elliot and Lucy cooled off. Elliot was dirty and tired when he walked in every single night. He yelled at Christian so bad one day, because he had no breaks. Everyone stayed mad at Christian for pushing so hard, but when he handed everyone money after a month, it shut everyone up. Ana and Amanda had to open a checking account to keep their money. Christian had a crazy work ethic, but he knew business. They still hung out, but they worked the most.

The Fourth of July finally gave everyone a break. They went back to the house in the Hamptons for a fun relaxing weekend. On the 4th they surprised Elliot with a huge 16th birthday gift, a new truck. "Elliot you get fireworks every year on your birthday and all I get is school." Elliot laughed, "So sorry Ana Banana." Ana hopped out of the pool and sat next to Olivia, "Mom are you ok?" Olivia shook her head, "Yeah baby, just relaxing." Olivia was six months pregnant and before they left Ana was given the results and no one would know until September. They would have the baby shower and reveal on Ana's 14th birthday. It was her idea to celebrate it with her new sibling. Things were going good and Ana was happy to be in a stable family.

When they returned from the holiday, Christian went back to pushing everyone to make more money. The Grey's had a birthday dinner for Lucy and her mom came to spend the night. She wanted Lucy to come back with her, but Lucy said her home was always going to be New York. A couple of weeks later it was Trevor's birthday on the 14th. "Gosh does everyone have a summer birthday?" Olivia kissed her, "Not me. I have to wait until December 13th."

They finished out the summer the same way they started working hard. Lucy created a Facebook and Instagram page to keep the business going. Christian said, "Guys, if we keep going and we all still get paid. Elliot took classes last year and was signed up for more. During the summer, he picked up plumbing and electrical jobs that he could continue during the winter. He made big money.

They finally had a day off Trevor and Olivia took the kids to Central Park for lunch. She watched them play with the frisbee. "They're still babies. I can't believe we will have a 9th grader in a couple of weeks. I am worried about school. Ana hasn't been in regular school in a while." Trevor held her, "Well she has Christian, Amanda, and Dominick. Hey it'll be ok." They had lunch and took them all home.

The next week they were all at the high school with their families. The four best friends stood together comparing schedules. Amanda looked and said, "Well this already sucks. First class split up." Christian looked down, "Well that's just home room. We will see each plenty except 4th and 6th. And even then both periods you and Ana are together and Dominick and I are together." Dominick agreed, "Hey we knew high would be different." Alex approached them, "First of all, be grateful, because Liv and I are friends with the principal, she put you together as much as possible and if you want it to continue all four years in high school, all of you will act accordingly. You could have really been separated." That shut everyone up.

They all went to the Hamptons, one last time for summer. They gave Ana an early birthday party, since her real one would overshadowed a little. They had a cookout, swam, and everything fun to end the summer. She even got a birthday kiss on the lips from Christian. That kiss felt different, "Wow! I thought you forgot about me." Christian smiled, "I could never forget the girl that gave me my first kiss." She wanted to be honest with him, "I tell Olivia and Trevor everything. So if we kiss they know and if we do anything else they will know." He smiled, "Good, I admire honesty."

Since Olivia was on desk duty she stayed home the first day of high school. "Are you nervous?" Ana shrugged and pushed her food around and Olivia felt like they were back to the Ana she saw in Seattle. "Hey, it's me. Please don't go back to old Ana. If something is bothering you, talk to me." Ana looked at her, "I know I have friends and school is easy for me, but I'm still worried." Olivia kissed her, "Well try not to worry, just do your best, watch that smart mouth, and stay out of trouble." Ana hugged her, "Ok mom!" Olivia popped her butt and Ana giggled, "Mom I didn't do anything." Olivia winked, "I know, but that was a reminder that I will still spank that 14 year old butt if you do." Elliot knocked, "Morning!" Elliot was taking everyone to school every morning and bringing them home. Lucy would also be there in the afternoons, she was taking college classes.

Christian and Ana had home room together, but Dominick and Amanda were away from everyone. "Hey only 20 minutes and we will meet you in math." The teacher took attendance and went over a bunch of rules. When they headed to math they met outside the door. A young woman stopped them, "I knew I could find all four of you out here. I'm Ms. Novak." They knew then it was the principal. "All of you plan on behaving right?" They shook their head and went to class. Ana didn't like math, she thought it was her weakest subject, "At least we get math out of the way." Christian smiled, "I love math!" They all laughed, "Of course you do money bags."

They made it to lunch and things weren't bad at all. Biology would be a little different. They were already split up and Amanda and Ana had the hardest teacher. Dominick warned her, "Amanda keep your mouth closed." Ana just laughed. The bell rang and a middle aged woman walked in, "I'm Mrs. Warner, be prepared to take a lot of notes today." She went over rules, like most teachers did all day. They were told whoever they were sitting with was their lab partner for the year. Ana and Amanda looked at each other and smiled. She didn't seem too tough.

Two more classes and they were free. English was easy and would be, it was Ana's favorite. They already discussed that Ana could read it and tell them everything important. The last period was gym. They saw the boys, but the classes were separated. They went home, deciding that maybe the year wouldn't be so bad. "Hey mom!" Olivia was glad to see Ana, "How was it?" Ana told her, "Not bad. I guess I won't skip this year." She smiled and Olivia shook her head, "For your butt's sake I hope not."

The rest of the week was light, teachers were still getting used to the students. They were told that homework would pick up very fast. Ana just wanted to get to the weekend. It was the baby shower and her birthday. They had the game room and rooftop pool area for the private party. Alex and Grace were in charge of games and activities. People won prizes and Olivia opened up so many gifts. Everyone was having a blast.

Olivia and Trevor surrounded Ana while everyone sang happy birthday to her. Alex brought out one cake and Grace had another one. Alex placed the blue frosted cake above the tower of blue cupcakes. It had 14 candles. Grace placed an all white cake that said "It's a…" down in front of all of them. Ana blew out her candles, "Happy birthday baby!" All the kids grabbed cupcakes and Trevor and Olivia smushed icing all over Ana's face. Alex and Grace got everyone's attention. "Ok this part was the big sister's idea. She is the only one that knows what the baby is, so mom and dad cut your cake." They cut it and they saw nothing but blue. "It's a boy!"

They all took showers and were settling down. Ana relaxed with Olivia and she held her like every night. Ana read him a new baby book, Goodnight Moon. "Ana, since you have known it was a boy, have you thought about names?" Ana sat up, "Me? A name? Isn't that for y'all?" Trevor shrugged, "It doesn't have to be. What do you think?" Ana thought, "He should have Trevor, but for a middle name, not first." They watched her think, "Noah! Noah Trevor Langan! What do you think?" Ana smiled a huge smile, "We think it's perfect!" Ana hadn't thought about it, but she felt out of place at that moment. She wasn't a Langan. "Night. I'll see you in the morning." Olivia thought it was an abrupt change, "Hey! Are you ok? I usually put you to sleep." Ana just shook her head and left their room.

The month went by and the baby was due any day. Olivia called the school and notified them that Ana would miss about a week, but would keep up with class work and homework. She had been acting strange and they knew it had something to do with the baby coming. Ana had been so good and they knew she was excited, but they also knew she was hiding her feelings about something. Olivia was talking to Trevor one night, "What do you think is wrong? This is the first time she hasn't talked to us." Trevor knew that, "I say don't push her. It's all a lot of change. She started high school, the baby, maybe she needs a minute."

Olivia started feeling a pain in her side on Friday night. She felt them before and got up before she woke up Trevor moving from side to side. When she looked in Ana's room and saw her bed was empty, she moved to the family room. She found her reading. "All the homework and you still like reading books." Ana looked up, "Yeah. Are you ok?" Olivia kissed her on her head, "Something's been bothering for weeks now, but you still care about me. Are you ever going to tell me?" She knew she had Ana thinking. Trevor told her not to push, but she didn't want the acting up to start. Ana was about to say something, "Owwww!" Ana jumped up, "Mom! What's wrong?" They both looked down and water everywhere. "Mom did you just pee?" That made her giggle, "Baby go wake up your dad."

Ana rushed into their bedroom, "Something happened, water is everywhere." Trevor jumped up, "Ana, get dressed." They got to the hospital and it was all about to start. They hooked Olivia up to machines and checked her out. "Ok, we'll call Dr. Greene and notify her you are admitted. Are you ready? You'll be a big sister soon." Ana shook her head and watched them. Ana and Trevor took turns holding her hand and wiping her head. She heard her curse and I mean bad. At one point she told Trevor to get away from her. "Ana baby come here and sit with me." Trevor stuck his tongue out at Ana.

It was Saturday and she had been in labor for hours and was exhausted, but Dr. Greene finally said she could push. Trevor sat on one side and Ana sat on the other while she pushed. She pushed a lot and Ana heard the doctor say, "I see the head." She was so calm it was scary. "Ok Olivia, stop pushing for me." She was doing something and then all we heard was crying. "Ana, I was right! It's a boy!" Ana laughed, "Good because we already have a name." They put him on Olivia's chest and he stopped crying immediately. "Mom he's so cute and his hair looks like yours and mine." They took Noah for tests and he started crying, "Mom, they're hurting him." Olivia shook her head, "They have to do it. They'll give him back in a few minutes."

The next day they had all kinds of visitors. Ana got to hold Noah a lot. She already loved him. They got to go home the next day as a family. They all spent the week together. "Mom, I'm not ready to go to school." Trevor didn't want to upset Olivia, "Ana you're going back. We gave you a week." Ana looked at him, "No I'm not." That made both of their heads swing up. Olivia passed Noah to Trevor, "Ana what's wrong?" Ana stood up, "I want to stay here and you can't make me go." She went to her room and closed the door. Trevor rocked Noah, "Here we go! Liv I told you a week was too long. Something was already up and we broke routine. Let me go talk to her." Olivia begged him, "Trevor please don't upset her anymore." Trevor laughed, "I'll try not to."

Trevor opened the door, "Ok out with it. This isn't about school, us, or even Noah, because you love all of them too much. You're a good student, you love us, and I know you are over the moon about Noah, so what is it?" He sat down, "I'm not leaving." Ana had real tears in her eyes, "Everyone in the house is a Langan, except me. Olivia has custody of me, but you don't. I really don't belong to either of you." Olivia stood at the door with Noah, "How long has this been bothering you? Tell the truth."

Ana wiped her face, "Since the night we named him." Olivia came in and sat with them, "Why did you hold it in so long." Ana just shrugged. Trevor got up and walked out, but quickly came back. "I thought about it, but I didn't want to take your dad's name from you. As for custody, here." He gave her some papers, it was paperwork that gave him and Olivia not only custody, but complete adoption. "We have been talking. When we went for high school orientation and I couldn't sign anything, I had them drawn up. If you want my last name, we can do that too. I just want all of this to be your choice. Stop shutting us out and talk to us."

Ana went back to school, without any problems. She picked right back up with her work and classes. She was happy again. Amanda, Dominick, and Christian all missed her. Amanda smiled, "Gosh we know you have a baby brother now, but can you at least still think about us." Ana smiled, "I'm sorry guys! I missed you." Christian smiled at her, "I missed you the most." He kissed her right on the lips. She turned bright red in embarrassment. Amanda laughed, "Wow, I guess he did."
