Apparently, the people who saved me called themselves gods for some reason. What that meant, I didn't know. For some reason, I was also called a goddess, the feminine version of the word. Amun-Ra was called the King of the gods along with his many titles and duties, with others having various duties that came with their titles. Set the dogman was the god of the desert, foreigners, and one of the gods of war. Some of them had titles that overlapped which seemed a bit complicated to be honest. Why would you need multiple gods of war? Were these people warmongers? I eyed the falcon man with two plumes coming from his head and the dog man as I took a bite from a date they had given me. I had already eaten five, eagerly taking large bites from the weird looking fruit. Dates, such a funny word for a fruit. Would you eat a date on a date on that date? I giggled softly as I bit a small chunk and placed it on my shoulder for Lisa to munch on.

A few members of Amun-Ra's crew gave me weird looks, including that scary goddess with the snake head. Most if not all of them had animal heads, with the guys showing off their bare chest with their manly skirts. The goddesses were wearing fancy dresses that clung to her bodies tightly, showing off their many curves. For some reason, I felt a pang of jealousy rise up in me. Stop it, brain! Why be jealous if I didn't even know why?

Amun-Ra started chuckling next to me. Sitting on his throne, he looked exactly like a king, not that I had ever met one. My current lack of memories helping with that. I was sitting on some stool next to Amun-Ra's throne while Set stood on the other on guard.

"If you keep staring, their clothing will eventually fall off." Amun-Ra said with an amused tone to his voice. Blushing softly, I tore my eyes away from the sun tanned gods and goddesses as they worked.

"Are you saying that I have laser eyes that cause people's clothes to fall off?" I asked. Set gave me a mean look. "Uh...your Majesty."

Amun-Ra flashed me a reassuring smile and pointed his thumb at the Dogman. "Don't worry about Setty ole boy. He's just being a little grump today since Osiris took away his favorite chew toy." Set opened his mouth, but closed it after a second and remained silent. Heh, I guess that meant it was true. "And no, well I think you don't. Tayt already has that ability though so I wouldn't scratch that off yet."

That sounded...interesting? These people were pretty weird. Who had a flying ship that dragged the sun across the sky? That was so last century, is what I would say if I actually remembered anything. I grabbed my forehead softly.

"That sounds fun." I gritted through my teeth. Having no memories was not fun at all. "Where are we?" The blue sky and desert below us didn't exactly have signs that scream, 'Hiya, you are here'.

"We are in the Mortal Realm. Somewhere in Egypt if you want to be more exact." Amun-Ra said casually. He gave me a glance. "I would say which area in Egypt, but I doubt you would remember or know where it is." Touche.

I nodded slowly in response, with an uncomfortable silence overcoming us. Eventually, Amun-Ra spoke again.

"Once we're done here we shall return to the Land of the Living, the realm where our people live. Isis, Bes, and Tutu are already waiting for us." They sounded like they were important people.

"T-They can help me regain my memories?" I said softly. What if all of my memories were the stuff of nightmares? What if I was a bad person?

Amun-Ra nodded. "Isis is skilled in her use of magic, even rivalling me in some ways. Bes also acts as the god of dreams alongside his duty of protecting households. Tutu is the guardian of dreams so they should be able to help." He smirked. "I'm sure they will be able to help you. Dreams are the gateway to the mind after all."

"Why are you helping me? You just met me." For all I knew, I could have been a criminal on the run.

"Why not? Isn't it a king's duty to care for his people?" Amun-Ra responded confidently. "If someone is in need, the correct thing to do is help them." Yeah right.

"I suppose." I looked away and towards the distance. He had been nice enough to give me food and water. The sun was going down, which meant it was almost time to go.

"Ooo goody. My shift is over." Amun-Ra stood up from his throne and did a dramatic stretch. "Khonsu should be here any second-"

Suddenly, as soon as he said that name, a pang went through my head. Grasping my head, I fell to my knees heaving. Images of a giant monster that was jet-black with silver linings along its body, with a permanent scowl on its face burned itself into my mind. I saw it...battling the same golden man from before.

"Khepri! Are you ok?" Amun-Ra kneeled in front of me, and took my face into his hands gently, Set standing close behind him. After a few seconds, the pain went away and I nodded.

Amun-Ra pressed his hand against my forehead and closed his eyes. A calming presence filled me."Hmm, it seems that there's more damage than I thought. Sekhmet may have to take a look at you as well."

Set groaned loudly which Amun-Ra responded with his ever present smirk.

"It's just a childhood crush, I'm sure she won't try to lock you into a closet with her again."

"Right." Set drawled dryly. He gave me a weird look. "It's time to go. Kh- He's already on his way." Amun-Ra nodded and stood up.

"Very well! Onwards to the Land of the Living so we can fix Khepri's mind! Our adventure begins!" He dramatically posed pointing off into the distance, Set staring at him blankly.

"Your Majesty, it's just a ten minute drive."

"HA!" I blurted out while giggling.

Amun-Ra sighed and scratched the back of his head. "You guys aren't fun at all."

Hey! That was offensive. I wish I had prepared myself mentally when a portal opened ahead of me, and the barge shot forward.

The barge was suddenly filled with the screams of a little girl screaming. Yeah, I was never going to live this down.

The Land of the Living was beautiful. Giant pyramids rose towards the sky, with lights from the buildings shining brightly. It was a perfect mesh of a desert and an oasis. Right in the middle of the city, stood a pyramid that easily towered over the others.

"Enjoying the view?" Amun-Ra walked up beside me. I was standing near the front with wide eyes. Instead of the revealing clothing that he was wearing earlier, he was now wearing an elaborate white suit that oddly matched with the color of his feathers. Set was wearing a casual suit with sunglasses that hid his ever watchful eyes.

I nodded with a small smile on my face as the barge drew even closer to the huge pyramid.

"Isis, Bes and Tutu are already awaiting our arrival. Sekhmet is...on her way." Set said looking up from a weird rectangular box with a glass screen that he held in his hand.

"Excellent." Amun-Ra turned to the god that was in charge of steering the barge. "Head to hanger one." The god saluted and changed his course, the wind feeling refreshing as we sped past some buildings.

I only knew one thing as we drew even closer towards Amun-Ra's palace.

My life was never going to be the same again.
