Author Note: Now the two best friends are a couple. A cyborg and a human, what could possibly go wrong? Slider also goes to school on Earth with his friends, so he and Jackie aren't far apart from each other. I want to make a cute chapter before the conflict begins.
It's been about three weeks since me and Slider had our first date, our first kiss and became a couple. I told Digit and Matt after a week after we got together, which was really fun to explain.
Flashback with Digit and Matt...
I kiss Slider on the lips in front of them and Inez. We turn to them and see their wide eyes and mouth.
"Wait! How long have you two been going out?" Matt shouts.
"About almost a week." I answer softly, snuggling up against Slider's arm, blushing.
"What! Why didn't you guys tell me earlier!" Matt shouts.
"Matt, leave her alone. This is embarrassing enough already for her." Inez says, placing a hand on Matt's shoulder.
"But... But... But..." Matt tries to speak but sighs in defeat.
"Yeah Matt, I'm cool with this." Digit says, floating around us, smiling.
Slider wraps his arms around my waist and I snuggle in his chest, still looking at Matt. "Matt, Inez, Digit, I promise, I'll treat Jackie well and be good to her." He says to my friends.
End flashback...
Telling Coop was more fun to explain.
Flashback with Coop...
"So, let me get this straight. After the first date, you guys became a couple and didn't tell anyone for a week?" Coop asks, raising an eyebrow and holding a screwdriver.
I snuggle up against Slider's side and he wraps his arm on my shoulder. "Yes Pops." Slider answers, smiling.
In a split second, Coop grins from ear to ear, throw the screwdriver on the table and throws his hands in the air. "Well, hallelujah then!" He cheers.
We smile and release each other for a father and son hug. "Thanks Pops!" Slider mumble in his dad's shoulder.
They break and Coop hugs me. "Thank you Coop!" I mumble too, smiling.
"Don't thank me. I'm more worried about Slider than you. I think you're a good influence on him." Coop says as we pull away, making Slider roll his eyes.
I run to Slider's arms and snuggle into his chest. He wraps his arms around me in return.
"You better treat her right Sly." I hear Coop say, making Slider grip me tighter.
"I will Pops."
End flashback...
It's Monday and we're in school. But that doesn't mean me and Slider can't spend any time together. It's 8:20 and almost time for first period. I hear a knock on my locker door. I look out and see Sldier's smiling face, putting one on mine.
"Hey there Skater girl!" He greets and kisses me on the forehead, making me giggling.
"Hey Slider!" I reply sweetly, smiling.
"When are you gonna give me a pet name?" He whines.
I roll my eyes and chuckle. "I haven't found a good pet name for you yet. Honey, Boo, Love. I don't want to call you that. I have never dated anyone before you." I defend myself, closing my locker and crossing my arms, smirking.
Slider wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me forward, smirking. "You'll think of something." Pulls to my face. "I don't care what pet name you call me." And presses my lips.
I return his kiss and wrap my arms around his neck. All of Slider's kisses feel good, tender and passionate and this is no difference. I want everyone in this school to feel jealous about our love. I feel like the happiest girl in the world being in my boyfriend's arms. But our happiness breaks when we hear the bell rings.
"Oh well. Looks like we must leave each other." Slider playfully pouts.
I chuckle and roll my eyes. "See you in our classes Slider." I say sweetly before kissing him on the cheek.
"Bye." He say softly.
"Bye." I reply sweetly and run off to my class, Drawing & Painting, the opposite direction from where he is standing.
"Oh my god! Matt, they are so cute together!" Inez squeals, jumping up and down. Jackie and Slider's two friends are watching the couple's love in the hallway, a few feet away.
"Oh come on Inez. They have just been together for three weeks." Matt whines, rolling his eyes. But he gets hit in the stomach by an arm. "Owww!!!" He groans, holding his stomach.
"Shut up Matt! You're just jealous you're not in a relationship!" Inez snaps at her best friend. She wants to be happy for Jackie, who finally having someone who loves her romantic in her life.
"Which reminds me." Matt groans in pain, turning to his best friend. "Inez, do you want to go with me get ice cream after school? Just the two of us."
Inez's face immediately paints a grin on her face.
3rd period, 10:15 a.m., it's Gym. I literally race towards the locker room, excited to see my boyfriend. I get my outfit on and race into the gym door. My friends Brenda, Mike and cousin Jake arrive 20 seconds after me, laughing.
"Hey guys! What's so funny?" I ask them, raising an eyebrow at their behavior.
"Whoa Jackie, what's the rush?" Jake asks, laughing really hard between breaths.
I haven't told my Earth friends about Slider and I. They do know he exists and is my best friend along with Inez and Matt. I meet Brenda and Mike at the beginning of high school. I knew Jake since we were three years old. When both of my friend groups met, there was some hostility. That's understandable and overtime, my friends got over it and tolerate each other for me.
Slider was the last person to be introduced into my friends circle. Brenda, Mike and Jake met Slider soon after I introduced them to Matt and Inez. They instantly liked Slider's laid back attitude and having similar interests as them like skating and not liking school. But I don't know what their reaction will be when I tell them I'm dating a white boy.
"Oh, I...ummm-"
"Jackie!"
I turn my head and see Slider beside Matt, waving at us, smiling. I grin from ear to ear and run up to Slider's arms, which are open, welcoming and warm. I look up to him and see his dazzling hazel eyes. We kiss and quickly pull away. I look at Matt over Slider's shoulder and he points behind me. I turn around and see my Earth friends shocked faces, wide eyes and open mouths.
"Please don't tell me you didn't tell you other friends about us?" Slider whispers in my ear.
I shake my head. I try to smile at my friends.
"Are you two..." Brenda says, but trails off, flabbergasted.
"Dating?" Jake finishes her sentence, raising an eyebrow.
I nod my head and lean my head on Slider's shoulder.
Brenda, Mike and Jake blink, unable to speak. I tremble and Slider rubs his hand on my back. Jake is the first one to reaction.
"Wow Jackie! Congrats! I'm happy for you!" Jake cheers and walks us. We hug and I thank my cousin. "We're all happy for her, right?" He hisses at our friends as he pulls away from me.
It takes a few seconds, but Brenda and Mike smile and walk up to me with open arms. "We're so happy for you girl." Brenda says.
"Sorry we made a face." Mike mumbles in my shoulder. We break and I smile.
"Thank you guys." I say as Slider places his hand on my shoulder. "It really means a lot to me. To us."
"And don't worry guys. I promise I won't hurt her." Slider says as he wraps his arms over my shoulder and links fingers with me.
"Oh trust me Slider, we're not worried about you. We know she's a force not to be reckoned with and we actually wanted you two to get together." Brenda replies, smirking.
I breathe a sigh of relief of having my other friends approval. More kids walk in the door and we take our seats on the bleachers. "Alright players, game's in session!" The coach roars and explains today's lesson.
All of us in the room played a basketball game and we all had fun. Laughing, shouting and smiling. When 3rd period ends, the girls and me run to our locker room and the boys run to theirs. As I finish, I wait for Slider and we run to lunch. We sit with Brenda, Mike, Jake, Matt and Inez and eat our lunch.
"So, did you tell your parents yet about dating Sly?" Jake asks.
I freeze. I didn't even tell my parents about Slider and I. They do know Slider is my friend and I hang out with him. They don't like him as much as Brenda, Mike and Jake, but don't mind him. I want to tell them. But I'm scared.
"Ummm..." I shake my head.
"Well... You have to tell them soon. They will be happy their daughter is dating someone who loves her." He replies.
I smile to Jake. He has always been a support company. He's the closest thing I have to a brother than Matt. "Thanks Cus! I just need a bit of time." I reply back. I look in the corner of my eye and see Slider's reassuring smile. Between Matt, Inez him and I, he's not from this world and knows this will be hard for me. I feel Slider's hand slip in mine and rub the top of mine.
6th period, 1:05 p.m. and it's chemistry. Good news is Slider, Matt and Inez are all in my class. I sit next to Inez and Matt sits with Slider a few tables across from us. It hurts separating from my boyfriend, but it's healthy for us. We have an assignment in chemical balancing, something I can actually understand in chemistry and Slider can follow along. It was boring and easy and ran out the room to my next class when the bell rang.
Skip to the end of Algebra 2, 3:45 p.m. and I race to meet Slider at the front doors of the school. I got to my locker, grabbed my things, sling my backpack on my back, ran to the front of the school, say goodbye to my other friends and sit down at one of the benches. Slider shows up a few minutes later with Matt and Inez behind him.
"Hey guys!" I run up and hug Inez. There're will be more time to hug Slider later. "Are we all hanging out together today?"
Inez and Matt give me concern and wincing looks. "Actually. We were planning on hanging out, me and Inez, just the two of us today." Matt says with a nervous smile.
I turn to Inez and sees the same thing, making me release her and back up. But I grow a little smile a few seconds later, realizing what's going on.
"I'm sorry Jax." Inez says apologetically, looking sad.
"Oh no. No, no! Don't apologize Inez. I understand." I reply. I really do.
"Are you sure?" Inez asks. I look up and see Matt smile grows more nervous. I want to get out of it.
"Yes!" I walk up to my boyfriend and hug his side. "Slider and I can just hang out at my house."
Slider and Matt's faces light up and smirk at Inez, who blushes.
"Thanks Jax, you're the best!" Matt says as he hugs me. I return it and he lets go, turning to a fluster Latina. "Come on Nezzie, lets go." He chuckles, smirking and walking up to her.
"Don't call me Nezzie!" Inez yells, walking along with Matt, playfully hitting each other.
I look up to Slider and see his warm smile. "Come on Jax, hopefully your folks are home." He says and kisses me on the forehead.
I nod my head and we walk back to my house with our backpacks on our backs. I pray my parents aren't home. I'm not ready to tell them but want to. It's conflicting and don't want them to know about where Slider lives.
"Hey, you ok?" I look up and see Slider's concern face and feel his arm slide over my shoulder.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Just thinking." I reply a half lie. But I can see he won't believe my whole statement. But he doesn't agree about and just pulls me closer, which I feel thankful for. We laugh, joke and tease each other all the way to my house. I open the door and call for my parents. But they aren't home, no surprise.
Slider has been to my house before since we were 13 and seen both a warm home and empty one. But we are greeted by my dog, Spirit's jumps and Piff's kisses on Slider's cheek.
Slider loves dogs and adores my husky. "Hey there Spirit! Hey girl, what's up!" He bends down and scratches behind her ears. Piff flies towards me, trembling as Spirit barks and rubs up against Slider.
We grab a snack and walk to my bedroom to do our homework. Spirit follows while Piff sits on my shoulder and I keep the door open. We sit on my bed and start our homework. We switch between going to Control Central, Slider's house, my living room or my bedroom to do our homework way before we started dating. But no matter what, Slider always needs help with homework, annoying me.
We finish our homework after an hour and spend our free time cuddling. I inhaled Slider's scent and snuggle in his chest, hearing his heartbeat. He in return wraps his arms around my back and holds me. No talking, no laughing, just holding each other and enjoying the moment.
"Thank you for helping with homework Jax." Slider mumbles in my hair. "Without you, I don't know how I could get through freshman and sophomore year."
I roll my eyes and laugh sarcastically. "Yeah right. You just don't try."
Slider laughs and grips me tighter and pecks me on the forehead. "You're an amazing girl."
I snuggle closer to him. "Thank you Slider." I reply. But our happiness ends when I hear my SKWAK pad goes off on my desk.
We release each other and I jump off my bed to grab the SKWAK. I turn it on and see an animation image of Dr. Marbles. I know when either Matt, Inez, Digit or Motherboard call on the SKWAK pad, something's wrong in cyberspace. But this is different and concerning. "Dr. Marbles? What's wrong?" I ask as Slider comes up to me.
"Jackie, come to Control Central, quick! Hacker has strike again and Motherboard needs your help! I'm sending a portal to pick you up!" Dr. Marbles answers frantically. "Wait, Slider is with you?" He asks, raising an eyebrow.
"Yes and he's coming with me to help. Send the portal, now!" I answer, annoyed of why would he even ask me that at a time like this. Motherboard's life is in trouble! Dr. Marbles nods his head and I turn off my SKWAK before turning to Slider. "I'm sorry Slider but we need to go."
"It's ok. I'll just get my things." He answers and quickly gather his things. The portal opens and Spirit jumps in surprise, growling. He has seen portals before but hates them.
"Spirit, sit!" I command and he obeys. "Piff, come with me." And she obeys, floating to my side.
"You ready?" Slider asks, holding his hand out.
I take it. "Ready as I'll ever be." I reply and we jump in the portal, readying for another Hacker alert mission.
Author Note: What Jackie and Slider can't see and be ready for is the conflict ahead of them as a couple right after they walked into the portal. What could it be? What will happen?
