Chapter 8: Revelations part 1

Fay's Pov

I woke up to the feeling of movement beside me, I opened my eyes and saw McCabe getting up.

"Morning love" I said yawning and stretching my legs as I got up.

"Morning hun" he said walking towards me and greeting me with a kiss.

"Where were you going to?"

"I'm going for a quick hunt, I'll be back in a few" he said as he walked back towards the entrance of the den.

"Alright see you in a few" with that said he went on to get food.

I walked to the back and saw Humphrey still sleeping with Andy nearby, I walked up to Andy
and woke him up.

"Morning Fay" he said yawning and stretching.

"Morning Andy, can you go with Humphrey to the lake and have him clean himself, it really makes me feel bad seeing him like that"

"Sure, can I do that after I ate" he asked looking at me with puppy eyes.

"It would be better if you did it before, so McCabe doesn't get in a bad mood again, we'll eat and afterwards head to a different part of the lake so you can come with Humphrey to eat without passing us" he nodded and walked towards the den entrance as I stood up and walked towards Humphrey.

"Humphrey, wake up" I said nudging him gently with my muzzle.

"Wha-what is it" he said a little startled and starting to get up.

"Take it easy Humphrey, it's okay" I said putting my paw on his shoulder to calm him.

He got up slowly and yawned while stretching and shaking his head.

"Humphrey follow Andy, he will take you to a lake so you can get cleaned up and when you are done Andy will return with you so you can eat, don't worry about McCabe, he will not be near you for most of the day" He nodded before thanking me and following Andy out.

I sat down and thought about everything that has happened the past two days, all this trouble and pain we're going trough...and for what? I have to figure out why, I need to know why McCabe is truly going after Humphrey, he told me a few reasons but I'm sure there's more behind it than he's telling me. I must have been in deep thought as I saw McCabe sitting in front of me with a deer carcass as he was looking into my eyes.

"Looks like you got something on your mind?"

"We'll discuss it after we ate" I looked at the deer and walked towards it to start eating.

We ate in silence for a little while as we ate till we were full, I got up and started to walk away from our den headed into the direction of a place McCabe needs to see. As I stood up McCabe started walking beside me not saying a word and simply looking in front of him.

"McCabe I love you with all my heart, you know that and I know you love me as deeply-" I started as I stared into his green eyes.

"But I need to show you something because you need to realize something..." I continued but couldn't muster the strength to keep going.

"It's okay Fay, show me what you must and then we'll continue" he said looking sad as he knows this journey might be the hardest we had to endure so far, but we must overcome it if we want to move forward.

We were walking for awhile, our furs touching as we walked beside each other, not a word said.
I was thinking of a way to begin but there's no good way to begin, I've been with McCabe for some time now and I still am not sure as to how he will process what we will be discussing...
he has a big heart, he was always there for me and...
He never let me down but the past days I've seen a dark side of him that I did not know he had.
I need to know everything of his previous life at the Western pack to know why he is going trough this much trouble...

I stopped walking as I saw we reached the edge of a small clearing next to a running river, I sat down on the shoreline with McCabe sitting opposite from me looking into my eyes.

"Here is the spot where I...died" I stared deeply into his eyes as I tried my hardest to stay strong and to not start bawling my eyes out, remembering the events that happened, I saw the emotions in McCabe's eyes, I saw shock, disbelief and then followed by anger, sadness and pain but lastly I saw regret...

"Y-you d died h-here?" He said stuttering on his words hearing the sadness and heartbreak, taking me by surprise, that's the McCabe I know, I expected him to get angry and blame it on Humphrey after seeing how hard headed he has been past days, he still might, so I have to look out and see what he does when he's around.

"All I remember is falling down and then waking up here with Humphrey by my side and gasping for air as I was coughing all the water out of my lungs... He saved my life McCabe! He could have left me to die if he wanted to, if it wasn't for him I wouldn't be here now!" I started, getting more and more emotional as I went on with tears running down my muzzle.

"I'm sorry I put you in this position Fay..." he started with tears forming in his eyes

"All I wanted is to be with you for the rest of my life, I don't want to lose you-" he continued but I cut him off.

"Then stop this nonsense!"

"Tell me, why you are doing this McCabe..." He stared at me but not a word coming from his muzzle as I could see he was in a deep thought.

"Tell me so I can understand what is going on, tell me..." I don't know how long I can stay strong but I need to for us.

"Your dad is the one that assigned me to this mission..." he said as his expression turned into a serious one.

"He told me I had to get the Omega that was mated with Winston's daughter" He said staring into my eyes.

"He told me he had a plan, he wanted to expand the territory, to build a better world for the pack as we faced hard times. He wanted to build a better world for you."

My eyes grew wide as I stared in disbelief at what came out of McCabe's mouth.

"N-no! This can't be true McCabe!"

"He told me if you were to find out he would make sure you wouldn't see me ever again." He said looking at me sternly.

"How dare you speak of my father that way McCabe!" I said growling and baring my teeth.

I couldn't believe what McCabe was telling me! It can't be true! My Father never had any malicious intent ever! We were going trough a rough time but nothing we haven't faced before, my father was always sweet and caring for fellow wolves, he wouldn't do anything like that!

"Fay..." He said snapping me out of my deep thought looking into my eyes, I didn't notice I was still baring my fangs.

"...I know he's your father but... I would never lie to you, I-"

"No, McCabe you will not tell me you didn't know better than that! You're a smart wolf so don't try to tell me you had no other choice... I-I need time to process this all, I don't know who I can trust to be honest!" I said on the verge of crying as my mind was being tormented by a storm of thoughts.

"Are you really that dark and bitter that you can't let the past go and move on? Or did you simply not care to think about the possible good outcome you had from your past?" As soon as I finished that sentence I instantly regret saying it as I could see a clear change in McCabe's expression, one that sent chills up my spine.

"Watch what you say next..." he warned as I heard a deep growl.

"Then tell me, what happened that you want to hurt the Eastern and Western pack so bad" I kept baring my fangs and growling back at him, I wasn't going to back down no matter how angry he got, if I can't get him to understand my point of view we can't move further.

"They killed my parents!"
