James POV

The few days until our match had passed pretty quick, and I was already there standing with my team behind the bleachers in my new Quidditch robes.

If I was being honest with myself, I was really nervous. It was my first match, and I was the youngest on the team, what if I messed up?

Austin must have figured out I was a little worried because he put his hand on my shoulder, and said, "hey don't worry, just remember what we went over during practice…and anyway, you're one of the best seekers we've had."

I nodded, "thanks Austin." He was right, we had practiced a lot the past few days, I wouldn't let my team down now.

I heard Ethan Carmen the Quidditch game announcer call Gryffindor up.

"Alright everyone that's us!"

We mounted our brooms and flew outside. I immediately saw Remus, Sirius, and Peter, probably because those three were cheering the most out of anyone. I even saw Hagrid who was waving although it would be pretty hard not to spot him. I grinned back to let them know I saw them. Madam Hooch called the two team captains down. I looked over and saw that Colton Hale was still team captain. Madam Hooch made the two captains shake hands, and by the looks of it, Colton would have shattered Austin's arm if Madam Hooch weren't standing right there.

"All right everyone, I want fair play." And with that said, Madam Hooch blew the whistle and threw the quaffle in the air, the game had begun.

We were off to a good start, Fawn had gotten the quaffle, and even put it through the goal!

"CHASER FAWN ASHE GRABBS THE QUAFFLE, AND SCORES 10 POINTS FOR GRYFFINDOR!"

The Gryffindor section cheered, and I saw my three friends jumping up and down while waving their hands in the air.

Ok James focus, you need to catch the snitch before the other team does. Just remember what we did during- Just then a bludger came flying straight for me, luckily enough I managed to quickly evade it. I looked to who targeted me and saw Cole Ezra one of the Slytherin beaters looking at me.

"Oops, my bad Potter, hope you didn't get an owie!", and he flew away laughing. I sneered. Come on James, get it together!

"Nice dodge James!" yelled Austin

Madam Hooch blew here whistle, "FOWL! You cannot throw a bludger at a player who does not have the quaffle in their possession. Free shot for Gryffindor.

John Ashe made a clean shot, and Gryffindor had 10 more points!

I decided to go to each corner and see if I could locate the snitch from there…no luck, but I did see Rae Anderson in action.

GRYFFINDOR'S NEW KEEPER RAE ANDERSON MAKES AN AMAZING BLOCK BY RYAN GIBB'S ATEMPT TO SCORE A GOAL.

I kept flying for a couple of minutes and ugh no luck! Where was that snitch!

Just then, I saw something happen, Rae Anderson missed his first block, and Slytherin made its first goal. A few minutes had passed, and two things happened. I heard Ethan call out, "SLYTHERIN IS IN THE LEAD WITH 70 POINTS TO 40." And second, I saw it. The golden snitch. It was right there, just a few feet away from me! I urged my broom to go as fast as it could. Come on come on go faster!

I heard something behind me and looked back. The Slytherin seeker saw that I had found the snitch and was tailing me. Then I heard another person, and realized it was Cole, the same person who tried to hit me with a bludger, they were both closing in on me. I urged my broom to go even faster, I reached my hand, and tried to grab the snitch, just then Cole hit another bludger at me. Unfortunately, I wasnt able to evade this one. It hit my hand and I lost balance, and went flying to the ground.

I groaned, but then I saw my hands cupped, and something glint inside…the snitch, I caught the snitch! I waved it high so everyone could see.

JAMES POTTER HAS CAUGHT THE SNITCH IN AN UNSUAL WAY…BUT NONETHELESS THE VICTOR OF TODAYS EXCITING MATCH IS GRYFFINDOR!

Everyone beside Slytherin were cheering so loud I thought my eardrums would burst, and that's when everything went dark.

"Look! The zombie is finally awakening." I think I heard Sirius say

I rubbed my eyes and saw a bunch of people crowding me. I sat up and put my glasses on. Sirius, Peter, and Remus were there not to mention the whole team who were smiling and putting their thumbs up.

I looked at my arm which was bandaged, "am I in the hospital wing?"

"Yea… you uh broke your arm after you fell, you've been here for a few hours its 9 right now." Remus said looking down

Fell? "Oh yea the game! What happened?"

"Well, mostly thanks to you…we won!" Rae said smiling

"Yea, you managed to catch the snitch even after Ryan Gibbs and that cheater of a seeker were tailing you." Austin beamed, "After you caught the snitch in your hand, Gibbs sent a bludger right at your back! You ended up falling…and then fainting."

"Oh...dang it! That's so lame, and embarrassing!"

"Lame and embarrassing? I didn't think so. Even after you had two older Slytherin members closing in on you, you still managed to catch the snitch, and give us all an amazing victory." John Ashe said leaning on his broom.

"Yea, John's right, plus it was your first time playing, and a second year at that! Injuries are common, you'll be up and flying in no time!" Amber said giving me a hug which was a little embarrassing. I could feel my cheeks turning pink.

"…Thanks guys."

The team congratulated me once more and left. I was still a little bummed for falling like an idiot, Remus put his hand on my shoulder and said, "hey don't beat yourself up about it, like everyone said, you did well for your first shot, and you ended up winning the game, so I don't see a reason for you to be down."

"Yea! I don't know how you do it James, I would've probably died if I was in your position." Peter squeaked.

Whether he meant "die" literally or figuratively, I didn't ask, I just grinned and said, "let's see If Madam Pomfrey will let me out of here."

After a little convincing (ok I lied, a LOT of convincing) Madam Pomfrey finally agreed to let me go, but she made me promise I would go straight to bed, and not do anything foolish with my broken arm, which was fine with me, I was exhausted.

We went into the common room where everyone slapped me on the back and told me I had caught the snitch in a wicked cool way which I wont lie made me feel better.

I walked up to our dorm and flopped down on my bed, "Wow, it's been a day."

"Yea, you could say that again." Sirius said jumping on his own bed.

"Yup." Peter agreed.

Remus nodded. "Well, night everyone."

"Night." We all said together.
