Chapter 8 The Revelation
It's been a few days since Korra finally got the airbending moves down in her head and since she joined the Fire Ferrets which excited her.
Right now however though Sean and Korra were at the Arena with Korra practicing with Mako and Bolin early in the morning before a ball was passed to her.
"Whats the big idea with making me train this early in the morning? The morning is Evil." Korra said making Sean scoff in amusement.
"Bullshit. You woke me up at the crack of dawn every day when we were little kids to play before we started training with Katara and Sokka." Sean said making her smile.
"Mmm true." Korra said.
"Crack of Dawn? What is with kids wanting to get up early?" Dojo asked on Sean's neck.
"Human nature lad." Mimir said.
"We're the rookies. So we get the worst time in the Gym." Bolin said.
"And you're the rookiest of us all. We gotta get you up to speed if we want to survive in the tournament. Deal with it." Mako said tossing her another ball making her grunt.
"You deal with it!" Korra said throwing it back harder making him grunt as he landed on his back.
"Score!" Sean yelled laughing as did Korra before someone walked in.
"There are my little hardworking street urchins." He said walking to them. "An honor to finally meet you Avatar and Lord Kruger."
"It's just Sean or Kruger I don't do titles. And you would be?" Sean asked.
"Butakha. I run this whole pro bending Shebang." Butakha said making Sean and Korra look at each other before the former shrugged before they walked away just as he gave Mako some money. "Heres your winnings from the last match." Butakha said making him grin about to take it. "Ah, ah, ah. But not so fast. First you owe me for the Avatar's new gear, and gym and equipment rentals for last month." Butakha said taking some of his money back. (Oy Every time I see this)
"Oh what a big shock." Sean said disgusted.
"Rent on your Apartment, and a personal loan for groceries." Butakha said taking it all making him glare at Bolin.
"What? I'm a growing boy!" Bolin said making Sean and Korra laugh in amusement.
"So much for keeping the cash." Korra said.
"You couldn't have let them keep some of it?" Sean asked.
"Sorry but thats business. Oh, and one more small item of business. The Fire Ferrets need to Ante up 30,000 Yuans for the championship pot." Butakha said shocking all of them.
"What?!" Sean yelled.
"30,000 Yuans!" Bolin yelled.
"Oh dear." Mimir said.
"Sorry, kids. You've got till the end of the week to come up with the money or else you're out off the tournament." He said before leaving just as Korra and Sean approached the two.
"You two wouldn't happen a secret bank account overflowing with gold would you?" Bolin asked making Korra pull out her pockets showing they were empty.
"I got nothing." Korra said.
"We didn't really bring any money with us. And being honest I don't really have cash on me." Sean said.
"And we've always had people taking care of us." Korra said smiling.
"Then I wouldn't say you had nothing." Mako said picking up a ball.
"Sorry I didn't mean..." Korra tried to say.
"No, it's all right, it's just...ever since we lost our parents, We've been on our own." Bolin said.
"I'm really sorry. I didn't know." Korra said.
"So anyway...How are we gonna come up with the money?" Mako asked.
"Ooh, Ooh, I got it, I got it. I've been training Pabu to do Circus Tricks. Now people would pay good money to see that." Bolin said holding Pabu up. (Seriously?)
"Oh please thats not gonna work. Thats for small change." Sean said as he and Korra left.
"I feel bad for them." Korra said.
"Oh I don't doubt it. Unfortunately I don't have anything on me and I sure as hell ain't selling Sokka's sword." Sean said pulling out his space sword.
"Oh please like you would ever sell that." Korra said smiling.
Later
After practice was over Korra was practicing airbending moves with Jinora and Ikki.
"Nice work." Sean said as she landed right in front of him. "At this rate you'll be airbending in no time." Sean said making her smile at the praise.
Thats when Jinora noticed Mako walking to them.
"Ooh, he's cute." Jinora said making Sean and Korra look seeing him.
"Oh for the love of. Aren't you a little young for boys? You're like ten." Sean asked making her giggle.
"Is that the firebender boy who drives you Crazy Korra?" Jinora asked.
"Does he drive you crazy in a bad way? Or does he drive you crazy like you like him?" Ikki teased.
"The First without question since he's an ass." Korra said annoyed before Earthbending them away before they faced him as the girls landed using airbending and giggled.
"Hey Mako." Sean said.
"You two seen Bolin?" Mako asked.
"Nice to see you too. And no, we haven't seen him since practice since learning about needing to put in money for it. Think something's wrong?" Korra asked.
"I don't know. Bolin has a knack for getting into really stupid situations most of the time. See ya later." Mako said leaving.
"Wait. We could help you look for him." Korra said.
"Nah, I got it." Mako said before Korra stopped him.
"Hey, Cool guy, let us help you." Korra said grinning. "We can take Naga." Korra said.
"Who's Naga?" Mako asked confused.
"Our best friend, and a great tracker." Korra said.
Later
Sean, Mako and Korra were on Naga walking through the city.
"Your best friend is a polar bear dog. Somehow that makes perfect sense." Mako said making them grin.
"We'll take that as a compliment, City boy." Korra said.
"Just make sure you don't piss her off like you did Korra when you first met." Sean said.
"I said I was sorry." Mako said making Korra giggle.
The three arrived at Central City station.
"Well, this is his usual hangout most of the time." Mako said as they got off.
Seeing a few kids playing Mako approached one.
"You guys see my brother around here today?" Mako asked.
"Perhaps...My memory's a little...Foggy. Maybe you could...Clear it up"
"You have got to be fucking kidding me." Sean said to Korra who frowned.
"Your good, Skoochy. A real pro." Mako said handing him some change.
"Yeah, I've seen him earlier." Skoochy said.
"When?" Mako asked.
"About Noon." Skoochy said.
"The hell was he doing here anyway?" Sean asked.
"He was performing. some kind of monkey-rat circus." Skoochy said making Sean roll his eyes
"Why am I not surprised. He's determined I'll say that much." Sean said making Korra smile.
"And then..." Skoochy trailed off holding his hand out making Mako sigh before paying him again.
"And then what? Why'd he leave?" Mako asked.
"Shady Shin showed up and flashed some serious cash. Bo took off with him in his hot rod. The Triple Threats, the Red Monsoons, The Agni Kai's. All the Triads are muscling up for something real big. Now that's all you're getting out of me. I'm not risking my neck any further" Skoochy said running off.
"What's he talking about?" Korra asked concerned.
"Sounds like theres a Turf war brewing up real soon, And Bolin's about to get caught right in the middle of it." Mako said before they got back on Naga and ran off.
"So where are we headed?" Korra asked.
"The Triple threat triad's headquarters. Hopefully Bolin's there and nothing's gone down yet." Mako said.
"Triple Threat Triad? Sean killed three of them when we saw them shaking some old guy down." Korra said.
"What?!" Mako asked in shock.
"Oh calm down." Sean said before Naga growled as she chased Pabu before he climbed up a street light.
"Thats, Pabu." Mako said as Naga barked.
"No, Naga. Pabu's a friend, not a snack." Korra said as they sniffed each other before Pabu got on Mako's shoulders.
"We gotta hurry He never leaves his side." Mako said.
Soon they came to the Triad's headquarters.
"Strange. You would think there would be guards outside." Sean said seeing the outside unguarded.
"There usually is." Mako said not liking this before Sean took his Axe out before slamming it into the door busting it down before they went inside seeing the place was a mess.
"Something happened here." Sean said before they heard engines out back making them rush seeing a group of masked men and women on bikes with a truck before they saw Bolin in the back.
"Bolin!" Mako yelled as Sean threw his axe at one of them killing her before they drove off as Korra whistled for Naga before she rushed to them and they got on and rushed after them.
"Who the hell are these guys?" Sean asked as they chased them down before Sean threw his axe again killing another before calling it back to his hand.
"Whoa." Mako said surprised.
"Long story." Sean said before three of them threw ropes at Naga's feet making her trip before Sean jumped off as Korra and Mako flew before he caught her making her smile before the three attacked them.
Sean slammed his axe down on one but she dodged before she hit his arm making him groan.
"Careful! Theres something off about these guys." Sean said swing his axe at her before she kicked him back.
"You won't stop us. Son of the Ghost of Sparta."
Sean growled before slamming his axe down creating a crater before she kicked him back next to Mako and Korra as they neared them.
Only for Naga to get free and roared at them while Pabu squeaked.
This made the three back off and got back on their bikes and drove off.
"Damn." Sean said pulling Korra up before she tried to bend.
"I can't bend." Korra said alarmed.
"Calm down. Thats chi blocking. It blocks your bending ability for a while. Who were those guys anyway? Another Gang?" Sean asked.
"No. Those are the Equalists. They're Amon's henchmen." Mako said.
"Amon? That Anti-bending guy with the Mask? The hell does he want with the Triple threats?" Korra asked.
"Nothing Good I can imagine." Mimir said.
"Whatever it is it can't be good. I can't believe Bolin got himself into this mess." Mako said annoyed.
"Mako, we will find Bolin. I promise." Korra said.
"And I know exactly who ask for help." Sean said grinning.
Later
The three were at the park waiting for the peasant to show up like before.
While they were waiting Mako was asleep while Sean looked at his blades of Chaos with a frown.
"Sean?" Korra asked.
"Yeah?" Sean said.
"What exactly did that woman call you? The son of the Ghost of Sparta?" Korra asked making him sigh.
"Thats a title my father was given after...An incident happened 10,000 years ago. Something he never meant to happen." Sean said.
"What exactly did he do?" Korra asked.
"Something he never wanted to happen." Sean said.
Before she could begin to ask more.
"EQUALITY NOW! EQUALITY NOW! WE WANT EQUALITY NOW!" The Peasant yelled.
Korra growled extremely annoyed.
"I'm going to freaking kill him." Korra said as Mako woke up before they approached him.
"It's time for the..." The Peasant trailed off seeing the two. "It's you two again. You cannot silence me Avatar or you're God Slayer!" The Peasant yelled before Korra smacked his loudspeaker down making him shriek like a girl.
"Shut your fucking mouth dumbass and listen up." Sean said with a deathly glare making him shiver in fear.
"Our friend got kidnapped by some Chi-blockers. Where'd they take him?" Korra asked.
"I have no idea what your talking about." The Peasant said looking away.
"Do we look like we're playing?" Korra asked earthbending his desk up making him yelp as he was knocked off along with all his fliers before Mako caught one.
"Witness the Revelation tonight, 9:00. The hell is this about?" Mako asked.
"Nothing that concerns the likes of you three." The Peasant said before Korra held him in the air.
"I'm in no mood for games. Spill it!" Korra said.
"No one knows what the revelation is! And I have no idea what happened to your friend. I swear!" The Peasant yelled in fear.
"I believe you." Sean said as Korra sat him down making him sigh in relief before Sean pulled out his axe and slashed his clothes off leaving him in pink hearted boxers. "Those again?" Sean asked making him shriek as he ran off to get dressed making him roll his eyes in amusement as Korra giggled as Mako took a few fliers before they left.
The three were at some stop looking at the fliers.
"Why didn't they put a location on these?" Korra asked.
"Obviously so not just anyone can walk in on this revelation. I'll give them credit they planned ahead. But look at the backs. They each have a different image." Sean said.
"You mean like a puzzle?" Korra asked.
"Yeah. Hold up." Sean said putting them together before seeing it was a map piece of the city before merging it with a full map of the city seeing the location."Bingo." Sean said making her grin.
"And you said you suck at puzzles." Korra said amused making him roll his eyes.
Later
Soon enough the three arrived at the location. They were dressed in more civilians clothing to blend in.
"Man I hate these clothes." Sean said as his armor was covered up making Korra giggle.
"I think you looked better with Water Tribe clothes on before the armor." Korra said.
"Bullshit." Sean said before a bouncer stopped them.
"This is a Private event. No one gets in without an invitation."
"You mean this?" Sean asked handing him a flyer making him grin.
"The Revelation is upon us, my brothers and sister."
Entering inside they were surprising by the amount of people here.
"I know people can feel hatred for others but this is unexpected." Korra said seeing a full crowd.
"Regretfully these people have a reason to be here since a lot of benders have caused nothing but pain and suffering to them because they can't bend. Part of the reason I killed those thugs when we first arrived so they couldn't cause anymore suffering." Sean said as they were at the top.
"Please welcome your hero, your savior, Amon!"
The Crowd cheered as Amon and his followers appeared on the stage. Korra however felt intimidated by him which Sean saw before placing a hand on her's.
"It's all right." Sean said keeping her calm.
"My quest for Equality began many years ago. When I was a boy, my family and I lived on a farm. We weren't rich, and none of us were benders. This made us very easy targets for the firbender who extorted my father. One day, My father confronted this man, But when he did that firebender took my family from me then he took my face. I've been forced to hide behind a mask ever since." Amon said.
"As many of you know the Avatar and the God Slayer have arrived in Republic City." Amon said making people boo which made Sean frown while Korra covered up more.
"And if she were here, she would tell you that bending brings balance to the world, but she is wrong. The only thing Bending has brought is suffering. It has been the cause of every war in every Era. And as for the God Slayer he is the reason the world is out of balance." Amon said.
"Oh great another Unalaq follower." Sean said to Korra who frowned.
"His very existence is the cause of so much suffering in the world no different than bending. But everything is about to change. I know you've all been wondering, What is the Revelation? You are about to get your answer. Since the beginning of Time, the Spirits have acted as guardians of our world. And they have spoken to me. They say the Avatar has failed Humanity." Amon said.
Korra glared at him for that remark.
"Oh bullshit." Sean said pissed off.
"That is why they have given me a power to make equality a reality. The power to take a benders power...Permanently." Amon said shocking her and everyone else.
"That's impossible. Theres no way." Korra said to Sean.
"Don't forget Aang learned how to do that when he took Ozai's bending." Sean said making her frown.
"Now for a demonstration. Please welcome Lightning Bolt Zolt, Leader of the Triple threat Triad, and one of the most notorious criminals in Republic City." Amon said as the people booed him.
"Ah fuck you!" Zolt yelled as others came out tied up including Bolin.
"Bolin you idiot." Mako said seeing the trouble his brother got in.
"Wait where did Sean go?" Korra asked not seeing him.
"Zolt has amassed a fortune by..." Amon tried to say before he and his followers heard footsteps from the shadows before Sean in his armor appeared before him shocking the crowd. "I wasn't expecting this. The God Slayer." Amon said.
"Do NOT call me that." Sean said glaring at him. "I didn't ask to be this." Sean said.
"Get me out of here and I'll pay you as much as you..." Zolt tried to say before Amon grabbed him by the head as he started groaning before Amon let him go and he tried to blast him but failed to do so shocking the crowd.
"So...You actually can take people's bending away. But you won't be taking Bolin's since he's no criminal and just needed the money for a good cause." Sean said untying him as Korra and Mako rushed in.
"Bolin you idiot." Mako said.
"How was I supposed to know this would happen?" Bolin asked.
"I don't know where you're getting your facts but I'm not the one causing suffering all over the world. The Gods are because something corrupted them. Thats why I have these powers. To kill them and take their powers away so it doesn't run wildly can cause chaos." Sean said.
"So you say. But that would make you the most powerful being on Earth. Against everything I stand for. You would be no different than the benders." Amon said.
"You cannot seriously blame every bender and say they are all the same." Sean said.
"Individually no. I won't deny there are some good ones. But the fact is there are more bad than good benders out there. And I will not stop until it has been purged from this world...Forever. And you will be brought down since in order for the world to be equal everyone must be the same. And that means you must be eliminated." Amon said.
"Your a fool." Sean said before breathing white fire at the ceiling making everyone scream in fear as they ran off as the place started to collapse.
"Lets go!" Korra said as they rushed off as they headed outside and got on Naga before rushing off as the Equalists tried to follow.
"Let them go." Amon said stopping them. "Their the perfect messengers to tell the city of my power." Amon said.
Later
Tenzin was talking with members of the White Lotus before seeing the two and rushed to them.
"Thank goodness. I was just about to send out a search party. Are you both all right?" Tenzin asked making Korra shake her head. "Korra, What happened? Did you find your friend." Tenzin asked.
"We found him. But it's where we found thats the problem." Sean said.
"What are you talking about?" Tenzin asked.
"We were at an equalist rally. We saw Amon." Korra said.
"What?" Tenzin asked.
"He can take people's bending away...For good." Korra said,
"That's...That's imposible. Only the Avatar has ever possessed that ability." Tenzin said.
"But we saw him do it." Korra said as Sean placed his hands on her shoulders to calm her.
"I believe you both. I don't know how Amon has achieved this power. But it's clear the revolution is more dangerous than ever. No bender is safe." Tenzin said looking at the city.
Sean later was looking at the ocean before Korra stood next to him.
"Are...You gonna be ok?" Korra asked concerned.
"Of course. He doesn't know what he's talking about. His head is full of false ideals and takes things too extreme. And he's not coming anywhere near you." Sean said making her smile as she held him close as they enjoyed the peace and quiet.
Authors Note: And with that Sean and Amon are now enemies since he sees Sean similar to Unalaq's flawed view.
