Authors Note: Sophie's POV! I couldn't wait to start writing this when Sophie got kidnapped in chapter six!
Thanks for reading, and enjoy!
Sophie found herself in what looked like a storage facility somewhere in the Forbidden Cities. She immediately acted, trying to inflict on the closest Neverseen member to her. But a forcefield formed a small bubble around her, blocking her. She ignored it and kept trying to push through the borders. She even tried to transmit for help. Nothing.
"Haven't you been taught you can't use your little tricks when you're inside a forcefield?" Lady Gisela shook her head in disapproval, pulling off her hood.
"Worth a try," Sophie spat. As hard as she could, she tried to act brave, but fear still trickled down her spine.
She glared at Ruy, full of hatred. The Pisonipath held up the forcefield and gave her his nastiest smile.
"So, I heard you had a little breakup session with Alden's son. How delightful," Gisela smiled. Sophie knew her way of talking. Every word was meant to tear down her enemies. Everything she did was to torture them into pain and suffering. Whatever Sophie was there for, it was not going to end with her going home and everything being fine.
"You put the listening device in the necklace. Why!" She screamed. "You have ears everywhere. What's the reason for a listening device if you hear everything?"
"Oh, Sophie, it's simple. It just makes our work easier. When your little friend went to get you the necklace, we had our technopath implant a small listening device into it. Of course, we knew you would break it soon and find out our plan, so that's when we made the move to capture you," she finished.
"What do you want with me?"
"Plenty. No more questions. Remember this?" She held up a small glass vial that contained a soft and gloopy substance. The color was vivid purple.
Sophie turned extremely pale. Soporidine was a strong and lethal sedative. If she received just a few drops, she could be out for weeks. Depending on Gisela's mood, Sophie was praying she would not give her the whole vial, which would put her to death.
"Don't worry, Sophie. It'll all be over soon. A couple of short days out, and you'll wake up ready to work for me," Gisela calmly assured. "Gethen will work with you until your fully washed."
Sophie's fear screamed throughout her body. She was no longer able to focus. She almost forgot that Gethen was able to take away memories. Panic flooded in her. She would be brainwashed and never see her friends and family again.
"You can't!" She screamed, even though it did nothing to affect Gisela.
"I can't? Why not?" She did not expect a response but waited anyway. When Sophie stayed silent, she continued. "Sophie, you are too young to understand what we are trying to do. But I assure you, it will help the world."
"I would never help you!"
"Oh, but you will."
And with that, the forcefield was let down. Sophie felt too affected by her words that she did not have enough power in herself to inflict on her. Instead, immediately once the shield was down, Gisela used telekinesis pushing her onto the floor hard. Gisela kneeled over and pulled out the soporidine, tipping the bottle slightly, letting a drop fall onto Sophie's arm. At once, her vision blurred. Seconds before she passed out, a shadow loomed over her and whispered into her ear, "We will change the world, Sophie. You'll see."
