"Liv, wake up. We overslept," Elliot said the next morning, gently nudging Olivia who was sound asleep. Gosh she was so cute.
"What time is it?" she asked groggily.
"It's 7."
"7?! Oh shit!" she exclaimed sitting up. She was panicking, they have to be at work at 8!
On a typical weekday morning, Olivia usually wakes up at 6. She enjoys a cup of coffee and breakfast, showers, then gets ready for work and is out the door by 7:30.
But this Monday morning was not a typical one; Elliot and Olivia had spent the previous evening making up for all of the years they had desired each other. They didn't go to sleep until about two in the morning and now they were paying the consequences of a night of nothing but sex: exhaustion.
"We have to leave at 7:30!" Olivia said throwing on some clothes. "I don't even have time to shower. God, we were a bit wild last night, weren't we?" Elliot smirked at Olivia.
"Yes, yes we were." He got up from the bed and swept Olivia's hair over her shoulder. "You were absolutely incredible," he whispered and kissed Olivia's neck, causing her to shiver.
"Elliot," she whispered.
"Hm?"
"I need you. In the shower. Now." Olivia was sore but was still turned on and ached for Elliot's touch. He frowned.
"I thought you didn't have time for a shower."
"Haven't you ever heard of a quickie?" Elliot burst out laughing and so they hopped in the shower together, not hesitating to begin their quick session. Elliot had Olivia pressed against the shower wall, her leg wrapped around him while he thrusted in and out of her, causing her to moan in pleasure. They kissed passionately and it wasn't long before they were both coming, panting each other's names. Olivia didn't bother to wash her hair but Elliot lathered her body in soap, his touch like electricity surging through her body. No amount of sex could tame the desire she had for him.
Elliot and Olivia got ready as quick as possible, even skipping breakfast and coffee, but were still late heading out the door. Captain Cragen was going to be pissed at their late arrival, that's why it was so important to get to work on time. They clocked in 15 minutes late and sat down at their desks.
"Benson, Stabler...my office," Cragen said when he noticed his two best detectives had finally arrived. They looked at each other and then obeyed the order they heard much too often ("my office"). "Do either of you care to explain why you're late?" he asked folding his arms.
"Um, I overslept and I...I don't know why Elliot's late," Olivia said rubbing her neck nervously.
"There was traffic," Elliot said simply.
"Traffic? Elliot it's New York City, there's always traffic yet you're never late like this. What's going on?"
"You want the truth? Kathy and I are having marital issues, what's new? I spent the night at Olivia's, we overslept. That's all."
"That's all? Nothing is going on between you two?"
"Captain you know that Elliot and I are best friends and work partners, nothing more. I'm sorry we were late." Cragen didn't believe them, he'd seen them work together all these years, he saw the way they looked at each other...hell everyone did.
"If you say so. I'm going to have to write y'all up. So get out, get to work and don't let it happen again."
"Yes sir," they both said at the same time and left Cragen's office.
"Think he bought it?" Elliot asked Olivia and she laughed.
"I doubt it."
They spent the day investigating the rape of a teenage girl and arresting the sick man who was responsible, Franklin Roberts, who catfished young girls in chat rooms and lured them to local hotel rooms. It was one of their easier cases, all of the evidence pointed to him, he was an idiot who used a computer at his home that their computer tech was able to track.
At the end of the day it was just Elliot and Olivia remaining in the squad room.
"We probably need to stop by your house and pack some of your things if you're going to be staying with me, huh?" Elliot nodded but seemed distant.
"What's on your mind?" Olivia asked.
"Just Kathy and the kids. I'm going to give her a call, see if we can talk soon." Olivia gave Elliot a soft smile and told him that she'd be waiting for him in the car. Elliot called Kathy's number but it just rang and finally went to her voicemail. Elliot cleared his throat before speaking. "Kathy, hey. Um, I just wanted to check on you and the kids. I was hoping to talk to you soon so um, give me a call back when you get this. Bye." Elliot sat there for a moment before finally leaving.
"Well?" Olivia said and Elliot shook his head.
"She didn't answer. But it's whatever, it's not like I want to talk to her like a mature adult, and it's not like I miss my kids and want to see them."
"Elliot, you're allowed to be hurt..."
"Liv you're not a therapist so don't," Elliot snapped and Olivia raised her brows in shock. Elliot noticed the expression on her face and sighed. "I'm sorry, that was uncalled for. I'm just...I'm on edge and I want this to be over with."
"It's fine, El," Olivia lied and was silent on the drive over to Elliot's house. She was rethinking having him stay with her, his comment really hurt her. She was trying to be there for him and support him, why did he always have to play Mr. Tough Guy?
"I'll be upstairs. I'm just going to pack a suitcase and then we can go," Elliot said when they arrived and Olivia nodded. While waiting for him she looked at the photographs of the Stabler family. She smiled at the ones with the children, Elliot and Kathy really did have a beautiful family. Olivia frowned...she felt like she ruined it though...
A few minutes later Elliot came back downstairs with his suitcase, ready to go. "Hey," he said when he noticed Olivia holding a wedding picture of him and Kathy. Olivia looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"I'm sorry," she whispered and Elliot dropped his suitcase and walked over to Olivia.
"What are you sorry for?"
"I ruined your family," she cried and fell into Elliot's arms.
"Olivia, look at me." Olivia looked up at Elliot with tearstained cheeks. He brushed a strand of hair out of her face. "There is absolutely nothing to be sorry for, do you understand me? Don't ever let me hear you say that again...you didn't ruin anything. I feel whole again because of you, you complete me." Olivia sniffled and wiped her eyes.
"Really?"
"You know it." Olivia couldn't help but grin.
"There's that pretty smile," Elliot said gently brushing Olivia's soft cheek with his thumb. Suddenly, they heard the garage opening. The abrupt sound startled them both.
"Is it Kathy?"
"It has to be," Elliot said and a few moments later Kathy walked in. She saw them both in her kitchen, Elliot's suitcase beside them.
"Oh, off to have a sleepover with your new girl are you El?" Elliot scoffed in response.
"Are you kidding me? That's how you're going to act?"
"What do you want me to say?!"
"Maybe hi for starters!"
"Um, I'm going to let you two talk..." Olivia said nervously and stepped outside onto the front porch. This sure was awkward.
