Black Manor
"I love you Sirius thank you so, so much. I've always wanted to go travelling. India will be the best!"
Sirius was really pleased with himself. Not only did he manage to please Amy but he managed to hide it from Amy and Remus for a month. He was really proud of himself. He asked James and he agreed so they would leave tomorrow with an international portkey to Mumbai. He told Remus and first the werewolf flat out denied going there for a month with his cub but after hearing about the safety precautions that Sirius had taken at the hotel he reluctantly agreed. Amy didn't need any encouragement and was over the moon happy. It would be really hot, so Amy packed her summer clothes and all of her belongings. They would be exploring Muggle and Magical India. That's why it was necessary to take Remus along because Sirius was awful at Muggle Studies which he quit after 3 days.
Amy had packed Muggle clothes and casual summer robes. She also packed her new travel diary.
Amy was so excited that she couldn't sleep till 1 am. When she woke up it was already 10 am and she only had two hours till the portkey. She brushed her teeth and took a quick shower. Her hair was in two French braids that Raya had done and she wore black jeans shorts and a simple baseball tee. She packed a little backpack in which she kept her grim, her mirror to call in case she got lost and her travel diary with her eagle self inking quill. She wore sneakers because honestly sandals were so uncomfortable. No muggle could tell that this girl was a witch but when she went downstairs she was horrified to see what Sirius was wearing.
Boy oh Boy, Sirius was wearing a summer hat in hot pink which is actually for ladies, combat boots also for ladies, a leather jacket, a simple blue tee and moto jeans. Merlin that man needs to learn about Muggles. The floo roared and out came an appropriately dressed Remus who was also shocked to see Sirius but he quickly got over that and started laughing which also made Amy laugh.
Sirius looked positively offended but also confused he thought that he was going to be the most handsome muggle on the planet.
Amy took pity. "Sirius are you actually going to wear that? Let's start with the obnoxious hot pink ladies hat and the boots. Those boots are also ladies so maybe we should change those and quick because we have no time. We are to be leaving in less than an hour!"
Sirius actually had nothing to wear so Remus copied his sneakers and gave it to Sirius and they ditched the hat. Remus was wearing a green tee with light wash jeans and black sneakers. After the makeover was over they had 10 minutes before they were to leave. Amy said goodbye to all the house elves and Kreacher much to Sirius' displeasure but he wisely said nothing.
"Ok Amy hold onto the hairbrush as tightly as you possibly can."
And Amy felt a hard pull of a force and they were in Mumbai. Amy felt sick and dizzy and fell on the floor only for strong arms to hold her up.
"Portkeys are bad but you will be ok. I unlike some people I came fully prepared with an anti-sickness potion for all of us but it seems you are the only one who needed it," Remus declared.
As she drank the potion she felt better immediately and Remus let go of her. Now that she was finally ok she looked around and was pleasantly surprised. Mumbai was the most magically populated place in India much like London in magical Britain.
They were currently in Hemnagar which was the equivalent of Diagon Alley. There were many wizards and witches around them but they were all wearing different colours of Kurtas and blouses. It was beautiful. But very hot. They were staying at a place called Sara Ghar where they had a big room to share for the three. They unpacked their trunks in their rather large armoire.
For lunch, they had something called Halva which was a sweet and a rather delicious plate, Masala rice which became Amy's new favourite thing in the whole world beating Molly's Mashed Potatoes and lastly some yoghourt drink called Chaash. With full bellies the trio made their way outside the hotel and into the plaza. When they got to the clothing store Amy went all out buying herself, Ginny, auntie Molly and her Mum beautiful rich purple shawls with embroidery. She bought herself an orange Kurtis and Ginny a blue one. As a souvenir Amy got a bookmark that said I love India on it. For Fred and George she got pataka which was fireworks in India.
Amy wrote all of her findings in her travel diary. Next they went to the bookshop which was called Pustakalay and Amy found the best books on Magical India and Healing Magic. The Quill shop whose name was written in Hindi had beautiful quills. She got herself and Percy a peacock quill. For Charlie, she got a glass Elephant which was absolutely stunning. The place didn't have a broom shop but she found an antique shop where she got a pin with a lion for Bill. She really didn't want to get anything for the jerk but she has a better heart she got him a Wizard's Chess set for himself. Lastly for Sevvie she bought a moon watch to look over potion ingredient prep.
Satisfied with all the gifts she got they went to Muggle Mumbai. For Dinner, they ate at a grand restaurant. The food was delicious and Amy was starting to love Rice and Paneer a lot. Remus loved the Butter Chicken and Sirius was in love with Masala chai.
They went outside for a bit for a stroll in the park but couldn't talk much due to the language barriers. Muggle Mumbai was very populated and loud compared to Magical Mumbai. On the way Amy bought a nice pack of ballpoint pens and lined paper for Arthur. With that the trio retired to the hotel. Remus had taken the initiative of learning Hindi and that certainly helped.
There weren't many tourists from Britain, but the trio found a magical couple with two girls the same age as Amy. The couple had lived in Hemnagar but moved to Britain and studied at Hogwarts. The girls were identical twins the older one was Parvati and the younger was Padma. Amy and the girls were instantly friends and Remus invited the family tomorrow at Sara Ghar.
The trio got up and Amy wore black tights with a green Kurti that Remus got for her and Sirius wore a tweed jacket from Remus and Remus wore a casual suit. The three went to the Mandir of Hemnagar.
It was beautiful from the outside and the three stepped in after taking off their shoes. Inside was a priest who introduced the god as Shiva and the three tried to copy the other members who were chanting and kneeling but it was hard. There was a big bell in the centre of the temple, so Remus lifted Amy and she wrung it. Everything felt holy and the echo of the loud bell was still present after a few minutes. She watched others pray and they left the Mandir.
When they went to Sara Ghar it was only minutes until Padma and Parvati would be coming. The bell wrung just in time for when Amy changed into a yellow jumpsuit and her hair tied in a high ponytail.
"Hello Mr. and welcome to our little room. Padma and Parvati were wearing pale pink robes and their eyes were searching for Amy.
Amy saw the girls and went to hug them they were all really happy and they ran to Amy's little room.
"How was the Mandir?" Padma asked.
"It was beautiful but we didn't really know what to do there and we looked visibly lost."
"Ah figures Parvati and I are Hindus but we don't know that many prayers either."
"So guess what I just showed my Magic sign again, so that's all three of us now and we will all be at Hogwarts together!" Parvati exclaimed excitedly.
"What house do you want to be in?"
"I want to be in Ravenclaw and I think you will be with me Amy you literally love books more than me!" Padma said.
"I want to be in Gryffindor or Ravenclaw but mostly Gryffindor because I don't have the brains for the latter." Parvati said
They all laughed at that.
"I think I want to be a Hufflepuff or a Gryffindor."
The twins looked at her and then Padma said, "Amy Hufflepuff is just for leftovers and nobody gets any respect in that house why would you want to be there?"
"Hufflepuffs are drastically underrated, the most Quidditch Cups have been won by Hufflepuff, the owner of the Nimbus Co. is a Hufflepuff. The most Hogwarts headmasters have been Hufflepuff and so have the"- "Merlin Amy are you a history book or something?" Parvati interrupted.
Amy blushed, "Sorry, did I go all Ravenclaw on you? I tend to do that and then start reciting things until someone tells me to stop."
They all laughed again and Padma made a comment about a true Ravenclaw but it was muffled by her heavy breathing because of the laughter.
"Ok whatever but who is your favourite Quidditch team?"
The three all said, "HOLYHEAD HARPIES" at once and then started laughing again. Their jaws and stomach started hurting and they were gasping for air. They all settled down on the bed and took deep breaths trying to calm down. Amy laughed so much her hair was a bubbly pink and there were tears in her eyes.
"Ok do you guys want to do each others hair Ginny my best friend and I did it all the time?"
"Sure," Padma said and Parvati nodded.
Amy sat on the stool, Padma sat on the bed and Parvati sat on the floor. Parvati and Padma had long hair and it was straight and beautiful. Amy did a waterfall which she replayed a memory of Lily doing on her. Padma did a fishtail in her hair. And when they were done they did a French braid on Padma. The girls were satisfied and then Amy started showing them what she got.
"Hey Amy why do you have a black stuffed doggy in your backpack?"
"Padma be careful that's Padfoot and I absolutely love him and can't be without him."
The twins laughed. "Amy are you going to bring that to Hogwarts?" Parvati asked.
"Yes I will," Amy said her chin up defiantly. She snatched the black dog and hugged him to her chest.
"Padma and Parvati we need to leave your uncle is waiting for you guys!"
The girls hugged and sadly muttered some goodbyes.
"We could be with Amy but uncle Ashok and his snotty child needs to meet us." Padma muttered.
Their mother glared and their father covered his mouth while silently grinning.
Amy, Remus and Sirius ordered Masala rice, Nan, Paneer, Chai and Chicken to their room. Dinner was quiet and Amy went to her room and wrote about the Mandir in her diary. After she fell asleep with Padfoot.
A/N: Ok my the friend edited this for me and I trust her so I think the Indian culture references are good. I hope you guys are satisfied with this chapter.
