10:27PM

A middle-age man was walking down the street. The clothes he was wearing looked cheap and old. He was down on his luck. His job was hell and the pay sucked, his wife left him along with their only child, and he was getting behind on a few payments. It was as if fate had it in for him.

He sunk deeper by drowning his sorrows away at local dives. Sometimes he got into fights but that didn't change his mood. He held his head low so that no one can see him. The last option he had left for himself was to end it.

Though his conscience told him not to go through with it. He ignored it kept walking until he found a high enough place to jump. After walking for a few minutes, he found a building tall enough for it. Taking a ride on one of the window cleaning lifts that was conveniently left unattended. He reached the top and gave the town one last look.

"Well, good bye." He said about to jump.

"Wait." said a voice

The man took a step back to look for the source of the voice. But found no one. "The answer to your question is in your garment." it spoke again

He reached into his pockets and pulled out a stone of jade. A friend of his told him having one was for good luck. Except this one had something radiating off of it. "What do you want from me?" he asked

"I have a simple offer to give." the jade said. "Your fate can be changed if you take my offer. Gainsaid this proposal I'll find another while you'll be slain."

"How do I know this isn't a trick?" he questioned

"Foolish man I am no trickster. All I ask is a simple answer." it replied

He pondered this for a moment. One a jade is telling him that it can change his luck. He is wary thinking that something will be exchanged for this to happen. But he'll have to worry about that later.

"Ok, I accept it." he answered

A deal was made on that fateful night. Ignorant to the fact that you must never make a wish when curse is around. Less you create an amasogi in the process.

-Royal Woods Middle School-

9:30 AM

The teacher of their 2nd class called in sick. Meaning the students have free time on their hands. Lincoln did not stay with his peers rather he left it to be alone with his thoughts. The only thing on his mind right now was his role as an exorcist.

Sure, he defeated his first opponent but that was just the tip of the iceberg. Since the arrival of curse strange things have been going on in the woods. Not just the wildlife but the air itself, according to Kyouka curse fluctuates like the weather. Meaning that it's not confined to the woods anymore, now he has to keep his senses sharp for any amasogi or anything else that might come. He made a mental note of that as he reached his destination which was the access point to the roof.

Climbing the short ladder, he opened the access door and headed up. Usually this was only used by the janitor who would remove the flag when school ended. Lincoln explained to him that he wanted to be alone with his thoughts, and agreed to his request. Upon reaching the top, he felt the wind blow gently on his face.

This was a perfect place. Just yourself, no one else, now he knows why some characters in manga come here. But enough of that he came here for one thing and that was to practice. Pulling out the flute tsugumomo from his pocket. He brought it up to his mouth and blew into the hole creating a melodious sound.

It wasn't as great compared to how Kyouka does it, but it was good nonetheless. Being in a high place allowed it to be heard by those below. Everyone in the school stopped what they were doing and listened to it. Entranced by the beauty of the tune, they wondered who could emit this. Even if he can't hear them Lincoln smiled at his handiwork. Unlike before when his first attempt ended in a puff of smoke exploding in his mouth. With Kyouka's help and the lessons he received from Luna before Lincoln was experienced enough to use the flute.

"That was amazing." commented Kyouka. "I gotta ask where did you learn that?" she asked

"My sister Luna taught me a few lessons." he replied

"She must love music then."

"Yes, she does."

Lincoln looked up in the sky and admired the view. The clouds were moving freely, the sun shining brightly as each one passed through with nothing disturbing them. It was those moments where you could clear your head and look up into the sky.

He then felt something on top of his hand. Turning around he found Kyouka too enjoying the view with her hand resting on top of his. His cheeks turned a bit red at this, she noticed her partner's change in face and looked down to see why. She removed her hand and her cheeks turned a light red color. Lincoln and Kyouka stared at each other for a moment. An awkward silence followed the exchange and both decided to head down.

4:12 PM

The bell rang indicating school had ended. Everyone ran out to relax in their homes. The exorcist pair were walking out just as the first kids did. Lincoln decided to walk back home so he could show her more of the town. They walked down a few blocks with him acting as tour guide explaining to her the various locations of his home.

While telling her some facts on the next location they will visit. A man walked past him and he felt something was off about him. Lincoln may not be a psychic yet he sensed that something about this guy felt weird. His intuition is telling him that he smelled of curse.

"Kyouka, we need to observe that guy." he said

"Why exactly?" she asked

"I know we're not supposed to jump to conclusions." Lincoln said. "But I'm gonna find out if its an amasogi or something else that is weird with him." he insisted

"Ok then. Where shall we start?" she said

"In the investigation room." he replied with a smirk
