Another dream. Terra looked around and smiled when she saw Starscream standing at the edge of a cliff. She was glad he was in her dreams again.
His back was turned to her once again. Terra would have her chance to talk to him in her dream. She wouldn't wake up and ruin the moment or have anything interfere with her dream. Terra stepped forward, eager to see what he was up to in her dream.
"Hi, Starscream," she chimed when she was less than twenty feet away from him. No response. Strange still.
"Can you hear me?" She asked, stepping closer.
"I do, my friend," Starscream replied, turning around and smiling back at her. He had been observing a red winged butterfly perched on his claw before it flew off. Terra felt her cheeks grow hot at that smile. God, she was a blushy mess even in her dreams. What was going on with her?
"Sooo, what were you looking at?" She asked while walking over to his side. She could see the vast landscape before her with the sun slowly setting over the horizon. She could already see stars appearing overhead.
"Just enjoying the view. It's quite beautiful," Starscream said. Terra looked up at him and noticed that he wasn't even looking at the view.
"It...It really is," Terra replied, putting on a shy smile, making him chuckle. Terra breathed in a heavy sigh as she walked closer to the edge and sat down. The red-winged butterfly flew back to her, fluttering about her head before flying off into the sunset. What was going on? This had to be some kind of weird dream. Was...he flirting with her or something?
Terra looked over the edge and froze when she saw a dead body down below. It wasn't far below. She could see the person's mangled face gazing up at her with wide bloody eyes. Every limb was broken and bent in horrible angles. Terra let out a soft cry as she looked up at her friend who had a dark smirk on his face.
"Isn't it wonderful?" he purred while bending down to be at her level.
"What have you done?" Terra demanded, feeling more and more terrified by the second. She knew he was capable of horrible things and probably killed countless humans in the past before, but this still came as a shock to her.
"Ensuring that Megatron won't bother you anymore. She had to die, Terra," Starscream said, holding out his hand to her.
Terra looked back at the horror below and saw the woman sitting up and smiling up at her. She blinked and the scene suddenly changed. She was down below with the woman who was still smiling at her. Terra felt like vomiting at the horrid sight.
"He really...He really likes...you, love," the woman managed to say, spitting up blood. Terra backed away, looking up and seeing Starscream sitting on the edge, looking absolutely smug.
"This is just a dream. This doesn't mean anything," Terra murmured while trying to back away.
"It means everything, love. If….If he didn't….like you, you'd be...be dead," the woman said while trying to get to her feet. She tried taking a step forward and fell down on her face, ruining it more.
"I know it's not pleasant, but you'll come to understand it, my friend," Starscream's voice said from behind her. More red-winged butterflies flew past her and up the cliffs. Terra turned and saw him standing over her with that awful smile on his face. She didn't know what to say.
"Soon you'll see things his way, love. It's okay. His intentions are pure," the woman crowed before grabbing her from behind. Terra cried out, not daring to look back at the stranger.
"He loves you," the woman whispered in her ear, spitting blood on her cheek. Terra felt her heart drop. Just a dream. Terra didn't know what to think as she looked up at Starscream. He chuckled and bent down before them. He looked like he was about to say something before something caught his eye behind Terra. The awful smile turned to absolute horror as he stepped back.
"Terra, run," he ordered.
The woman's grip on her disappeared. Terra looked back and saw that the woman was gone. She also saw a very familiar figure at the top of the cliff glaring down at them. Megatron.
Terra wanted to run, but something prevented from doing so as Megatron jumped down and landed before Starscream who took a defensive stance before her.
"Run, Terra!" Starscream cried out before Megatron sent him flying into the rocks with a swipe of a hand. Terra could only watch on, frozen to the spot in terror as Megatron laughed. She looked to where Starscream had landed and saw that he was gone.
"That idiot thinks I'm a fool. He can't keep me from you, little one," Megatron crowed, activating his arm cannon and aiming it at her. Terra opened her mouth, but nothing came out.
"Perhaps you two will be reunited after death," he said as his cannon came to life.
Terra's mind was racing before she finally turned and ran. She was immediately sent flying by the blast from his cannon. It had hit her spot just seconds after she ran. Terra cried out as she landed hard on her stomach. She let out a gasp and coughed up blood as she tried to get back to her feet. She got on her knees and was immediately stopped when she felt the arm cannon on her back, pushing her onto her stomach.
"Such a disgusting little wretch. I can't understand why Starscream would bother risking his life to protect you," Megatron growled.
Tears welled up in her eyes as Terra tried to think of a way out of this. She could feel the heat of the cannon as it hissed with life.
"Just a dream," she whimpered, closing her eyes tight as everything glowed white hot around her.
"No!" Terra cried out as she woke up in a panic. Tears were already streaming down her cheeks as she sat up, her knees going up to her chest. It was just a dream. One of many awful nightmares. They didn't mean a damn thing. She was safe and Starscream was still her wonderful friend. That strange woman didn't exist and Megatron wasn't after her. It still felt so terribly real.
Something glowing in the corner of her eye caught her attention. Wiping away a few tears, she looked over and saw a huge glowing blue flower on the nightstand. That certainly wasn't there before she went to sleep. She hadn't seen anything like it before, but it was absolutely beautiful. Starscream had to be the one who left this here.
"How...How beautiful," she murmured before reaching out for it. It was the biggest flower she had ever seen with her own eyes and it was surprisingly heavy. She had to use two hands to pick it up and lay it on her lap. It was very warm to the touch. Terra let out a heavy sigh as she pressed her cheek against one of the petals. She wanted to forget about that awful and confusing nightmare. Her head was a jumbled mess of conflicting thoughts, but the warmth from the flower calmed her a bit.
"He loves you", that strange woman's voice whispered in her ear. Terra shivered at the thought and tried to focus on the flower. Her mind was playing tricks on her. This was just some kind of weird nightmare. It didn't mean anything, but those woman's words still haunted her.
Could it be true? Starscream was acting quite strangely around her during their time spent together, but that had to be from being so new to many things involving her. Terra remembered the way he had looked at and complimented her when she put her flower crown on. Her chest grew warm as she recalled that sweet moment and a few others.
Terra gazed at the flower and thought of doing the most girly thing with it. She gently tugged at the petals and quickly found out they wouldn't budge even with her robotics hands. She could just pretend to remove the petals.
She touched one petal with a soft smile on her lips.
"He loves me," she whispered, recalling her strange desire to lay on his chest. He was so warm and comfy to lay on and seemed to enjoy being so close to her.
"He loves me not," she said while going to the next petal. He still had so much to learn about earth. How much was he willing to just kill some random human? He looked like he wanted to kill that hiker from last night. If she weren't there, he most likely would have disposed of the poor man.
Terra went to the next petal and the next, recalling all the wonderful moments she had spent with her friend. She paused. Calling him her friend felt wrong. God, this was exactly how she felt when she realized she had fallen in love with…
"Oh…," she murmured when she got to the last petal. She gazed at it with wide eyes as it all dawned on her. All those strange looks that made her blush like an idiot. All those gentle touches...Everything he had done to save her life and make sure she was safe.
"He loves me," she whispered, laying down in bed and holding the flower close to her chest. Another whirlwind of emotions ran rampant through her head. Joy. Fear. Confusion. Love. Uncertainty. It all made her head hurt.
What was she going to do now? Was she going to confess to Starscream? Did he even feel the same way about her? From the way he was acting, it appeared that he felt something for her, but there was no way she could be sure of that. She didn't want to have her heart broken again like last time.
"No. Don't think like that," she said to herself, holding the warm flower close to her chest. This was different from last time. He wasn't like Agnes. Agnes didn't do things like leave flowers by her bed or actually save her from certain death. She pushed away the thoughts of her ex. Thinking about the past hurt.
Terra let out a soft sigh and looked over at her balcony door. It was already morning. Did she want to get up now or go back to sleep and hope for better dreams?
"No. I gotta get up," she murmured as she sat up in her bed. She gazed at the flower one last time and realized that she would have to hide it when the Autobots came by to visit. She looked around her room and saw her closet. No one would look in there.
She got out of bed and was about to go to her closet before she stopped and laughed. The Autobots wouldn't be able to get inside her room and if Fowler or the kids came by, they probably wouldn't go in her room. She looked back at her bed and saw how she could easily hide the flower under there.
"Perfect," she said while going back to the bed and putting the flower underneath. The glow underneath was faint, but hopefully it wouldn't catch the attention of the Autobots when they came to visit.
Terra backed away from the bed and went out to the balcony. She breathed in the mountain air and smiled in content when she saw some deer walking around. She looked forward to seeing Starscream again despite her confusing dream.
Starscream was back in the forest by Terra's temporary home. Strange. He had recalled coming back to the Nemesis and going straight to his berth without coming across anyone important. He would report to Megatron later.
This had to be some kind of dream. It had felt like an eternity since he last had a decent dream that didn't involve being attacked by Megatron or the past horrors of the war. Was it going to be decent? He didn't want it to change. He just had to think of Terra and maybe she would show up.
He looked over at the house and smiled as he approached. Terra's bedroom light was on, but the curtains were drawn.
"Are you there, Terra?" He asked. No response. Maybe she was taking a walk somewhere.
Starscream turned around to face the forest. He cocked his head when he heard a familiar voice humming to herself somewhere in there. He had heard this tune before. So calming, but he had forgotten what the song was called.
"Terra?" He called out as he stepped forward. The trees looked more dense than usual, forcing him to push them away with surprising ease. It wasn't long before he saw her walking amongst the trees. No. Not walking. Dancing. Terra was humming and twirling around in the mist while wearing a long black dress that resembled her nightgown that he had quickly fallen in love with.
"I know you, I walked with you once upon a dream," Terra sang in a dreamy voice. She went forward with a soft giggle, still continuing to twirl around. Why couldn't he see her face? He had to catch up to her. He had so much to tell her! He could practice confessing to her in his dreams.
"Wait up, Terra!" Starscream called out as he tried to follow her. The trees were getting thicker and thicker, making him more agitated by the moment.
"I know you, that look in your eyes is so familiar a gleam.
And I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem," Terra continued, still keeping up the pace.
Starscream growled as he uprooted a tree and threw it to the side. Blast these organic things! They were keeping him from her! He could just set the trees ablaze but he didn't want to lose sight of Terra.
His spark felt like it was aflame the more he pursued her. It knew what it wanted and it wanted Terra more than anything. Was it greater than wanting to overthrow Megatron? It sure felt like that. He could easily ditch the Decepticon cause and the war if it meant being by her side, but there was no escaping this horrible war. It had to end soon so he could live with her without worrying about being attacked by Megatron.
"Blast it! Stop, Terra!" Starscream exclaimed while uprooting another tree. It was getting dark all around him, but everything was bright around Terra. He just had to reach her. He was so close now!
He stopped when he came across a clearing. It was the flower field where Terra made that wonderful flower crown. She was standing in the middle, her back still turned to him. Starscream let out an exhausted grunt before he stepped forward.
"But if I know you, I know what you'll do," Terra sang, her voice sounding faint. Starscream put on a smile when he got closer. He had noticed that her dress was practically see-through, revealing her figure. He didn't know much about human anatomy, but he was willing to explore and learn many things with Terra's help if she was willing.
"You'll love me at once, the way you did once upon a dream," she purred as she turned to face him. She smiled and her head fell off as she held out her arms in a welcoming manner.
"Terra!" Starscream cried out, bolting up in his berth. His hand immediately went to his chest where his spark felt like it was pulsating. Its glow lit up his quarters. He tried to steady himself before letting out a growl.
"Frag. I can't even dream of her in peace," he grumbled while trying to get that awful image out of his head. Terra looked so ravishing in his dream and then that had to happen. When would he find peace during rest? Perhaps staying by her side would help him rest better. He needed peace.
Starscream looked over at his closed door and wondered if anyone had heard him cry out Terra's name. No footsteps. Good. He had to be extra careful now.
He tried to focus on how Terra looked so graceful and elegant while dancing amongst the trees. He let out a sigh, smiling as he imagined how Terra would react when he confessed to her. She would be overjoyed most likely and what would happen after? Would he stay with her at that mountain house or would he have to go to the Autobots? Going to the Autobots would be quite awkward after all he had done to harm them. He would figure something out eventually.
He opened a panel in his chest and pulled out the tiny flower Terra had gifted him. It had a sweet strong smell as he brought it closer to his face. It also smelled strongly of Terra, making him smile like an idiot.
Starscream realized that he had to report to Megatron and grunted as he hopped out of his berth and put the flower back in his chest panel. He went over what he was going to tell him. He had found some new sources of energon during his travels to find Terra. They were small, but they were far away from where Terra was hiding. He needed Megatron to focus on something else for a while.
He stepped out of his quarters and made his way to the main bridge where he was sure Megatron was. He hoped his Master was in a better mood today. He really didn't want to deal with his yelling at the moment.
He came across the medical bay and saw Knockout inside. He was buffing out new dents in Breakdown's armor when he looked up and smirked at Starscream knowingly.
"What are you looking so smug about?" Starscream questioned, stopping himself to glare at them.
"Breakdown, have I told you that Starscream has fallen in love?" Knockout crowed. Breakdown gasped in fake shock before letting out a chuckle.
"Didn't think that was possible. Who's the lucky bot?" Breakdown asked, sitting up to look at Starscream properly.
"That's none of your business!" Starscream exclaimed, his hands turning into fists. He would have properly disciplined him if he weren't so big.
"I think he's fallen for an Autobot," Knockout said.
"Who could it be? I bet it's Optimus Prime," Breakdown replied.
"It's not an Autobot and there's no way I'm telling you two something like that. I'm going to report to Megatron," Starscream growled as he turned to leave them.
"Do you think it could be a human?" Breakdown asked.
"Now that would be juicy. I don't think Starscream would ever stoop so low," Knockout laughed.
Starscream tried to ignore those idiots as he kept walking. Hopefully Knockout wouldn't come to that conclusion and tell Megatron everything. He rubbed at the panel where the flower was being held and sighed softly, closing his optics momentarily and thinking of the way Terra looked in his dream. The thought of seeing her again and maybe confessing to her calmed him quite a bit.
"Soon, my love," he whispered.
