"He really said that?" said the little cyclops shocked. Charlie was telling Husk and Nifty about Alastor's weird behavior. Charlie nodded in response to Nifty's question.
"But why would he say that?"
Charlie sighed. "That's the thing, I don't know. It was so unlike him."
"Seems pretty like him to me," said Husk drinking from a bottle of booze. "He could be relapsing for all we know."
"A relapse?" Charlie said shocked. "Oh no, he would never fall back into his old ways!" Charlie said with a laugh.
"It could happen Charlie, it happens to the best of us," said Nifty.
"Guys, I know Alastor. It's probably this whole situation that's making him act weird, right? He's not thinking clearly," Charlie said laughing it off.
"What if there really is something wrong with him?" Nifty thought out loud.
"I'm sure he's fine. Anyways, I have to go do... something." Charlie then walked out of the room. Husk and Nifty looked at each other worriedly.
Charlie walked back to her guest bedroom and rested her back against the door. She sighed. "What if he is relapsing?" She then smacked both her cheeks with her hands. "Pull yourself together Charlie, you have to focus on the positive. If you don't have hope, who else will?"
Meanwhile, elsewhere in Pentagram City, Helsa is sitting in an abandoned building. Plans on the walls she scratched out with her claws were erased out, and she was sitting in the corner. She took out the business card that Alastor gave her and gazed at it for a while.
Then, she reached into her pocket, pulling out a photo booth picture of her and Charlie as kids. A sad smile spread across her face. She then started to remember. Remember the times when Charlie and her were friends. Back when they were there for each other. Back when she... loved her.
She begins singing as she starts getting flashbacks to the past.
When somebody loved me
Everything was beautiful
Every hour spent together
Lives within my heart
One flashback shows her comforting Charlie when she was crying.
And when she was sad
I was there to dry her tears
Another shows them playing at a fall celebration. They then tripped and fell on top of each other, laughing and smiling.
And when she was happy so was I
When she loved me
Another shows them snuggled by a roaring fireplace.
Through the summer and the fall
We had each other, that was all
Just she and I together
Like it was meant to be
Another memory shows Charlie's father ignoring her, and Helsa going over to her to hug her. A light blush spreading across her face.
And when she was lonely
I was there to comfort her
And I knew that she loved me
It then shows her and Charlie growing older, and Charlie drifting apart from Helsa to pursue her dream and starts to fall in love with Sevanthian. Helsa is left feeling isolated and alone.
So the years went by
I stayed the same
But she began to drift away
I was left alone
Still I waited for the day
When she'd say, "I will always love you"
Then one day, on their graduation, Charlie came over to her and held her hands. Helsa starts smiling.
Lonely and forgotten
Never thought she'd look my way
And she smiled at me and held me
Just like she used to do
Like she loved me
When she loved me
Charlie then tells her that Sevanthian asked her to be her boyfriend and that she replied with yes. Helsa, feeling heartbroken and betrayed, runs away in tears.
When somebody loved me
Everything was beautiful
Every hour spent together
Lives within my heart
When she loved me
The flashback ends and Helsa is now seen crying. "I loved you. I always have." She sniffed and wiped tears out of her eyes. "When you broke my heart, I never wanted to look you in the eyes again, and it's far too late to fix our friendship between us." She looked at the picture again and sighed.
"I still love you, and I don't want to see you hurt. Maybe... maybe it's not too late. I can still try and fix our friendship." Helsa looks at Alastor's business card again.
"If you ever change your mind, all you have to do is call my name."
"I just have to call your name, huh?" Helsa takes a deep breath and sighs. "Alright Alastor, you win. I want to join your side."
"I see, and what made you change your mind, hm?" Helsa looked to see Alastor behind her. She growled.
"It's none of your business. What the heck's up with your eye?" she asked. Alastor covered his eye.
"Not important, anyways, all you have to do is make a deal with me."
"And what is that deal?"
Alastor grinned. "You can help as long as you don't hurt my friends, Charlie, or the king. If you do, there will be consequences."
Helsa hesitated, and eventually shook his hand. "Deal." A green glow surrounded them and suddenly they were teleported to the secret base. "What the- what is this place?" Helsa said surprised. Helsa then heard a gun load behind her. She turned around to see Angel and Vaggie holding out their weapons.
"What the fuck is this bitch doing here?" Angel growled.
"Relax my feminine fellow, she means us no harm. We made a deal," Alastor said walking over to Angel and lowering the gun aimed at Helsa.
"How can we trust her?! She works for Sevanthian! How do we know it's not a trick?" said Vaggie, her spear still aimed at Helsa's head. Alastor pointed it away.
"Please allow Ms. Helsa to explain Vaggie. I assure you, she's not here to hurt us," he said in a calm tone of voice. Vaggie huffed and hesitantly lowered her spear.
"She's got a lot of explaining to do," the moth demon growled.
"Don't worry," Helsa sighed. "I'll explain everything.
