A/N: Hey guys! So, I have my whole story planned out, so I decided that while I was still in the writing spirit I would write this!
Evelyn's PoV:
"Look, I didn't want to be a half-blood. Neither did Annabeth. Or anyone. It get's you killed in painful, nasty ways. But this is how we live." Percy said, Aredian had been complaining the whole walk.
"How about we tell each other more about each other. I barely even know you." Evelyn said.
"Alright." The all agreed.
"Let's play truth or dare." Aredian said.
The all shook there head except for piper.
"Yay!" Piper clapped her hands together.
"I''ll start." Aredian said.
"Evelyn, truth or dare." Aredian said.
Evelyn thought for a second.
"Truth." She said.
"Wimp. Hmmmmmmmm. What shall I ask you? How about. Why where you acting so weird the other day?" Aredian asked.
Evelyn stopped.
They all stopped.
"I had a dream. A bad dream." she said.
The looked intently.
"That's all your getting out of me." Evelyn said.
the frowned.
"Fine." said Aredian.
"Alright, Annabeth truth or dare." Evelyn said.
"Dare." Annabeth said.
"Hmmm." Evelyn said as they walked near a shop.
A plant shop.
Evelyn walked in, and they looked at her like she was crazy, but she came out with a huge cactus plant.
"here. Hey, um, can you come out?" a boy, about Evelyn's age came out of the plant.
He had green skin and dark green eyes with hair so green, it looked black, and he was wearing a green shirt with green pants. A lot of green.
Evelyn stared at him, gaping.
He looked at her annoyed, he looked like he just woke up.
"Where am I?" he asked.
Evelyn blushed and cleared her throat.
"Sorry, but I bought your cactus plant." Evelyn said.
Then she frowned.
"Um, Annabeth your dare is to kiss this dryad." she said distracted.
The boy was caught off guard.
Percy and the boy both snapped looked alarmed.
"What?" Percy asked.
"Just do it." Evelyn said.
Annabeth kissed the dryad.
Percy scowled bitterly.
"come on, Annabeth, that's enough." Annabeth kept going.
Percy scrunched his face up.
"Annabeth, that's enough teasing Percy." Piper said.
"fine." Annabeth got off the boy.
"That... was great." the boy breathed.
"Don't get any ideas, pal, she still my girlfriend." Percy said.
The cactus withered a little bit.
"Well that's fine I guess. But how will I move if you bought my plant?" He said.
"I have an idea." Evelyn said.
Evelyn ran back to the shop, and brought out a small wagon.
She put the cactus in the wagon and handed the handle to the boy.
"So now we have a cactus. Great, Evelyn." Aredian said.
The boy gasped.
"Evelyn? As in Evelyn miller?" he asked.
"Um...yes?" Evelyn said.
She was staring at him behind his back.
The boy turned and kneeled before her.
"Many years ago, my father disrespected Hera, and as punishment, Hera made sure that his son, me, would pledge my service t o Evelyn Miller in her quests." he said.
Annabeth scowled. "Hera's a bitch."
Evelyn looked thrilled.
"really? That's awesome!" Evelyn said.
The dryad took a spike from his plant and cut and x onto his hand, then he cut one on Evelyn's(she'd turned beet red when he took her hand).
he took her hand, pulling there bloody hands together and he shook her hand.
"I pledge my service to Evelyn Miller, do you except." he asked.
"Yes!" Evelyn said.
The boy nodded and wiped the green blood oozing from the wound.
As they started to travel, Annabeth suddenly remembered.
"Isn't it my turn?" she asked.
"Yes." Percy grumped.
Annabeth laughed.
"Percy, I was just teasing you, I love you." Percy crossed his arms and turned the other way.
Evelyn walked with the boy.
Aredian stared at them with a scowl.
"Can you use that bow?" he asked.
"Yeah." Evelyn said.
"Really? Aren't girls the ones with the shields?" he asked.
Evelyn stopped.
"What?" she asked.
"Sorry, I'm just saying, in the old myths-" Evelyn cut in.
"In the old myths, you weren't alive. I wasn't either. I'm pretty good at it, better then you with your spines." Evelyn said.
"Really, wanna bet? "he asked.
"Fine. "Evelyn said.
Evelyn brought out her bow and aimed.
"Three, two, on, fire!" Evelyn shot just an apple in a tree. It feel to the ground.
She picked it up and bit it.
Spine shot an arrow, but he missed.
Evelyn smirked. "I won."
The boy frowned.
"So what's your name?" Evelyn asked.
"Hmm. I don't have one. Let me think. I must remember. Spike, I think. I was named spike after my cactuses spikes." he said.
"Okay, spike." Evelyn said smiling.
Her heart was doing a gymnastic s routine in her chest.
Why?
As Spike went off to get to know the others, Evelyn found herself staring.
Piper moved next to her.
"So, how do you feel about the new guy." Piper nodded at spike.
"Spike? Oh, yeah, he's nice." Evelyn said.
"I think you think more about him then you're letting on." Piper said, smirking.
"What do you mean?" Evelyn demanded.
"I caught you staring at him." Piper said.
" I wasn't! You were.." Evelyn said.
"Jason's my boyfriend." Piper said.
"He's a cactus. I don't like him. Plus, he's a boy." Evelyn said as she walked away from the Cherokee girl.
She could practically feel Piper rolling her eyes,
"Come on, we have to get to the docks. If we get there fast enough, I can make the ship go so fast we'll get there in a day. If Evelyn helps of course." Percy said.
They nodded.
They all perked up. They had been walking for days in hoped of making it there. They where ready for some action.
Suddenly, there was a loud roar, and a bunch of birds flew away.
They all looked at each other.
"What was that?" Evelyn asked.
"By the sound of it, a manticore." Annabeth said.
Percy glowered at the ground.
"I hate manticores." Percy said.
"Why?" Piper asked.
"One dragged Annabeth off a cliff." Evelyn stopped.
"WHAT?!" she yelled.
"Shh." Jason said.
"Don't worry, she's fine. I'll tell you the story after the quest." Percy said.
Annabeth took his hand.
"Percy. You don't need to worry. I can take care of myself, it's just a manticore. I'm not going to die over a measly manticore." Annabeth said softly.
Percy stared and then they kissed for a long time.
Piper smiled and took Jason's hand, leaning on his shoulder.
Evelyn rolled her eyes.
"Come on guys, let's get-AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!" Evelyn shrieked as a thing came out of the bushes.
It had the body of a lion, a head of a man, the tail of a scorpion, and the wings of a dragon.
"Demi-gods." it hissed.
Evelyn brought out her weapon, the rest did the same.
She wasn't that good with a sword.
"Ooh, Poseidon I smell, Athena, Zeus? No, something different. Like Zeus. Aphrodite. Very pretty. Hermes? Hermes' children taste the best! A dryad? I hear cactuses have water inside them." The manticore looked exited.
Then it got ugly.
Evelyn shrieked ,as spines shot out.
Jason got hit in the leg.
He tried to deflect it, it didn't work.
He yelped and collapsed, clutching his leg.
Percy charged, and the manticore shot a lot of spines, pining Percy to the tree.
Annabeth charged, and the manticore swiped. She cut it's paw and they started to battle.
Piper Moved forwards and so did Aredian, working on deflecting the spines.
"Spine, can you deflect his spikes with yours?" Evelyn asked.
He nodded, and then it was spike war.
Thousands of spines shot everywhere, and the had to dodge them while fighting the manticore.
Evelyn dodged it's tail, and went for the neck.
It batted her with a wing.
She feel down, getting back up again.
Annabeth's face was bleeding and piper had a gash on her arm.
Aredian had been shielding them, but she noticed a spine in his arm.
She felt horrible.
everything was going to fast.
The manticore flapped his wings.
"Evelyn." her mother's voice whispered in her ear.
She yelled, and suddenly everything froe.
They all started floating, like there was no gravity.
She realized, it was like the moon.
Unfortunately, she lost focus, nd they all fell down.
The manticore roared.
"Stay in one place so I can eat you!" It yelled.
Evelyn ran over to Percy, who was trying to keep perfectly still so he wouldn't touch a spine.
Evelyn knew they where poisonous.
She started plucking them from the bark, cutting her hand in the [process.
Percy was finally free, but her heart was beating much slower.
"Water, in three, two, one, go!" she rasped, as there was a pulling feeling in her gut and water shot out of the lake, forcing the manticore to lay down, Percy slammed his fists together, and the water slammed the manticore, breaking his left arm.
The manticore hissed.
"I'll get you next time!" he yelled and ran away.
At this point, Evelyn was seeing purple.
She groaned and collapsed.
