Chapter 8: Disappointment

A/N: I have risen from the death! This may take 8 years to complete BUT I WILL finish this fic!

Midoriya knew better.

Knowing Kachan for such a long time made evident that something was off with him. They hadn't talked that much after their fight, but he had seen the drastic change of attitude within these past few days.

Kirishima knew better.

Just one second, Jirou had used that second of doubt to defeat one of the most powerful students of U.A. The redhead knew the complicated relationship between those two and realized nothing good would come off after this.

Relief.

Jirou exhaled deeply in relief when her name appeared on the screen. "I-I'm up there…" The girl had passed the provisional license exam and it had all been thanks to Bakugou. If she hadn't gone through that harsh training of his, she may have not come this far.

The girl looked for his friend's face through the crowd but only when she had found him, she understood.

Bakugou looked pissed. No, he was MORE than pissed.

The shorthaired girl looked back at the screen looking for the boy's name, but it was not there. Apparently, the two geniuses of class A, Katsuki Bakugou and Todoroki Shouto had failed the exam.

"Now then, ahem…as for those who didn't make the cut…" Jirou looked back at the main screen as the man kept talking "Don't be disheartened by your scores, you don't have time for that. Especially since there's still a chance…"

"If you sign up for and complete a special three-month training course, and pass the individual test at the end, you too will be awarded your provisional licenses."

So, there's still a chance. Jirou smiled at the thought. Not all hope was lost for Bakugou.

"YOU BASTARD!" she snapped to him as soon as they got down the arena. Jirou was furious, the blond had never seen her like that before. Wasn't she supposed to be happy? She had finally won against him, something no one, even him, had expected.

"That final punch, why did you stop?" she yelled at him once more, her fierce look piercing his mind and body. Oh... so she had noticed. During their trainings he had promised himself not to go after her face, he couldn't do it today either.

"Jirou I…"

"You promised…" she muttered, a deathly glare evident in her eyes "You said you'd never go easy on me…" Jirou was not yelling anymore, her anger had changed into disappointment. "I don't want your pity. If you don't see me as an equal to fight me will all your strength, I…" she sighed.

"Just, don't talk to me again please." Jirou turned her back towards him and walked away.

She was right. Bakugou had fucked up. He didn't go after her.

"Hey Momo…"

"Um, yes?"

Jirou shyly played with her earphones, not being able to look at her best friend in the eyes "How do you cheer someone up?" she quietly asked. She knew that Bakugou was pissed after failing the exam, she wanted to do something for him. After all, it was thanks to him that she was able to pass.

Momo rested her hand on her chin, thinking carefully on how to answer. After a few seconds, her eyes glittered and clapped her hands with a warm smile "What about a gift? I'm sure anything done by yourself would cheer your friend up!"

A gift, uh… but what could she possibly give to Bakugou?

And then an idea came to her mind. "Thanks Momo!" replied before standing up "I'm heading back to the dorm."
"So early?" her friend asked surprised.

Jirou looked back at her friend, a warm smile on her face "A song takes time to be written, I better hurry!".

Well, that was unexpected.

Aizawa didn't think Jirou would be able to defeat Bakugou. A pleasant surprise, though.

The teacher noted the sudden doubt that clouded over the boy's head before that final punch…a movement that costed him the match. A hero shall never doubt.

Aizawa hoped this match would not only be a good lesson for both of them, but also an effective (but brutal) way to finally get their problems out of their chest.

"Midoriya Izuku, Tsuyu Asui go into the arena."

A/N: Woah! At this rate, next chapter might be the final reveal! What had made these two love birds fight in the first place?

As always thanks for reading! Your comments are the ones that make me never give up on the story! LOVE YOU SO MUCH!
