A/N Hey, everyone. Welcome back to more of the Degrassi Welcome Back Home SYOC S1 series. First of all, I want to thank some of you guys for being patient with me so far as I try to come up with more ideas on the characters' interaction while I'm a little focused on my current projects. Second, I hope you guys are continuing to stay safe out there, following public health measures, keeping your distance, being good, and getting vaccinated. And third, this is the seventh chapter of the Degrassi WBH series. In this seventh chapter, James and Janie get to know each other and they start to develop feelings for each other. So, this is the seventh chapter, and here we go.

James

After asking Janie to hang out and getting to know her better, James was at a place called The Dot, and he has heard a lot about it based on the posts from social media. Sitting on a table across from Janie, who's busy with her homework.

"So, what homework do you have today?" he asked.

"Math, geography, and science," she replied.

"That's cool," he said.

Just then, Janie gets a phone call from her dad as she puts down her pencil and answered the call while James ate a sandwich.

"Hey dad, what's up?" she asked as she answered.

James picked up a cup of coffee and drank it as Janie has a phone coversation with her dad before she hung up.

"Everything okay?" he asked her.

"My dad won't be home in a couple of hours. And he wants me to make dinner before he returns home. I should probably get going," she replied.

"I'll take you home," said James as he finished drinking his cup of coffee.

"Thanks. I'm in need of someone to take me home after a long day at school," said Janie.

After stashing her homework and her pencil case in her backpack, Janie picked it up and slung it over her shoulders as James grabbed his backpack and followed her.

"So, how did you like the first day of high school?" he asked.

"It's kind of okay. A little better than my public school," she replied.

"There is one thing you need to know about me. I got into a lot of fights as a kid before high school and my mom didn't like it too much. And I'm trying to stop myself from getting involved in more fights," he explained.

"Well, I hope I can help you change that soon. Besides, I'm trying to avoid getting involved with drama queens. Well hopefully," she said.

"And I don't have any interests in joining the schools clubs if the school does organize it for the rest of the year," he said.

"But if you're only up for it, right?" she asked.

"Something like that," he replied.

After half an hour of having a conversation and getting to know each other, they arrive outside of their household.

"This is me," said Janie.

"Same here. Well, since my house is next to yours. So I'll see you around in school tomorrow?" said James.

"Maybe," she said.

"All right, well, I should get going now. Have a good night Janie," he said as he turned around and walked to his house.

"Wait, James!" she called.

"Yeah?" he asked.

Unbeknownest to them, James' mother Pamela and his little sister Newt were observing them from the living room window.

"Do you have social media like Facebook or Instagram?" asked Janie.

"I have both. But not Twitter," James replied.

"Cool. I'll find and add you on both Facebook and Instagram," she said.

"See you Janie," he said.

"Yeah. See you," she agreed.

James watched as Janie took her house keys out of her pocket and unlocked it before she entered her house and locked the front door. He then takes his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the front door as he stepped in and took off his shoes.

"I'm home!" he called.

"Hey, James! How was school today?" asked Newt.

"It was okay. I made some friends today," he replied.

"Who was the girl at the door?" asked Pamela.

"Her name's Janie Thompson. She lives next to our house," James replied.

Janie

After getting to know and hanging out with James, Janie walks upstairs to her bedroom and set down her backpack before she took off her jacket and hung it on her computer chair as she changes into her pajamas and threw out her clothes on the laundry basket.

'What a long and stressful day at school. I should probably go to sleep a little early tonight,' she thought.

Janie then took her homework out of her backpack and decided to finish it since it was her only goal to make her father proud by succeeding in life and not letting anything distract her from completing her goal.

After half an hour of doing her homework, Janie puts away her completed homework in her backpack before she goes to take a shower. Taking off her glasses, she steps into the shower as she turned on the water.

Five minutes later, Janie steps out of the shower as she puts back on her glasses before she checked the time on her phone as it said 5:54 pm.

'Time to make dinner,' she thought.

Janie raced to the kitchen as she turned on the stove and cut the vegetables on the cutting board before she carefully added the chopped food on the frying pan.

'Looking good so far. Hopefully I don't burn the kitchen down,' Janie thought.

After spending fifteen minutes on making dinner, she turns off the stove and poured the cooked food on the plate and placed the frying pan on the sink as she turned on the water to let the frying pan cool down.

Just then, she heard the front door open and her father stepped in and took off his shoes.

"Hey, dad!" she called.

"Hey kiddo," he replied as he closed the front door.

"How was work?" she asked.

"Same thing. Different day," he replied.

"You're just in time for dinner. I had spent a lot of time making this. I hope you like what I made tonight," ssaid Janie.

Janie and her father ate dinner together as Janie looked at the empty seat beside her, as she felt she still missed her late mother.

"So, how was your first day of school today?" asked Danny.

"It was good. I made some friends today and I got some homework. And I got everything done today," Janie replied.

"Leave the cleaning duty to me. You should head to bed early," he said.

After eating dinner, Janie heads upstairs to her bedroom as she took off her glasses and placed it on the bedside table beside her. Laying down in her bed and staring at the ceiling, Janie's phone gets a notification as she grabbed her phone and looked at the notification.

'Notification from Instagram. ItsAdamHawthorne, AishaQueenBeeCrane, and James_McKay17 has followed you.'

Janie grinned, having got new followers on her Instagram. She then gets a notification from Facebook and she received friend requests from Adam, James, and Aisha.

Accepting their friend requests, Janie turns off her phone and sets it down on the bedside table beside her as she closed her eyes, hoping for a good day of school tomorrow.

And that will be the end of the seventh chapter for now. So what do you guys think of the seventh chapter so far? Love it? Hate it? Let me know in the reviews section. Let's hope that James will ask Janie out on a date soon. Since I don't have any other character pairings in mind right now, I'll just stick with Adam/Melody and James/Janie pairing. And should I start writing Principal Simpson's student files in the next few chapters? Let me know if I should do it in the reviews. So, that is it for now. Next chapter, day two of school. Continue to stay safe out there, get the vaccine, and continue to maintain safe distance.
