Matt was alone, sitting at his desk. He was sad, broken. He had lost an important member of his team, he felt guilty. How was this possible?

Stella was behind her, what had gone wrong? She yeah she got up and she walked over to Boden, she needed to talk to him, she needed to figure out where she went wrong. If Kidd was no longer with them it was his fault and he had to figure out where he had gone wrong.

He had lost his best friend's girlfriend.

Arriving in front of the commander's office, he knocked on the door.

- Come on, - said Boden

- Chief I .. - Matt said

- Come in Casey, sit down. - the boss welcomed him

- thank you - was the only thing the captain was able to answer.

Silence spread throughout the room, no one dared to speak.

The commander watched his captain, he sat in the chair with his elbows on his knees and his head in his hands.

- How was this possible? - Matt asked without looking up, in a pained tone as if he were about to cry.

- I do not know. - replied the chief. - unfortunately things happen. -

- It wasn't supposed to happen - Casey almost shouted as he jumped up and angrily paced back and forth in the room - we were together, nothing was supposed to happen. I should have been more careful.-

- What do you mean? - Boden asked

-She died because of me, I had to be me instead of her. - Matt cried, bursting into inconsolable tears

- It's not your fault,- the commander tried to assert, but his fireman didn't listen.

He had fallen to his knees with his hands on his knees, while with his head down, great tears ran down his cheeks.

Boden walked around the desk and leaned next to his friend trying to comfort him by putting a hand on his shoulder.

There were no words to say.

It was obvious that it was no one's fault what had happened and Matt had to figure it out slowly.

Time was needed, as they say time heals all wounds.
