Chapter:7 The Scorching Desert
The gang are now riding through the harsh desert with proper gear so they could be prepared if a sandstorm ever comes.
"How far is the city again?" Tabs asked.
"Very far, not many people even cross here by foot alone since its pretty much very not during the day and cold during the night. Plus some Pokemons also live here as well, more common ones thou," Onor said as they continued to sped up the dunes.
It was a smooth ride till the bike was sent flying from something hidden in the sand as everyone on board screamed when they were in mid-air.
Everyone quickly get off it as Onor's bike crashed into the sand but was completely unscathed because of the soft sand.
They groan from the landing as Tabs sit up to look around for anything. She saw Zorro shaking off the sand of his fur, Doris was upside-down with its head beneath the sand, and Bartho quickly hides below the wreckage.
"What in the Distortion World was that?" Tabs questioned as she stood up and dust herself off.
"Don't ask me, I only read the map, I don't anything about this place," Onor said as he also stood up to dust himself off as well.
The two look around for anything as they saw something zoom through in the sand, and eventually ran off safely.
Onor could only groan as he then went to his bike to pull it out of the sand.
Tabs then look around with Zorro on her shoulder with her hand covering above her eyes so she won't get blinded by the intense light while looking around. Doris hop up to her side while the light reflects on its jewels which hits Tabs' eyes.
"Doris! Watch it! You're hitting my eyes," Tabs said as she rub her eyes from the bright light as Doris felt saddened by what happened.
"Tabs! Help me with this!" Onor called out to her as he struggled pulling his bike off because of the sand.
Tabs quickly went to help Onor while Doris look around the sandy dunes of the desert.
It noticed something from the distance and hop to it to see what it was.
With the two Trainers, they finally got Onor's bike out of the sand as they sigh in relief.
"Finally," Onor said as he look around to see their Pokemons except for Doris. "Um? Where's your Carbink?"
'What do you mean? Doris is right-" Tabs was about to look where the Jewel Pokemon was. "Where did it go?"
Onor then noticed some imprints leading on the other side of the dune as he points to the direction and said to the young Poacher, "I think I know where it went."
Tabs followed where he was pointing as they then followed it where it leads, they reach the top of the dune and saw whats on the other side.
They saw a large herd of unknown Pokemons walking through the desert without stopping.
The most common of the herd is a tall gazelle-like Pokemon with a white coat along with brown markings around its head and some on its back. It has an angular head with black markings around its black eyes and a pair of long horns protruding out of its head upwards. They have thick legs covered with large cloven hooves that stops them from sinking.
The least common is a small gazelle-like Pokemon with a white coat and brown markings on its back and upper hind legs. Its head is slightly angular with a black marking below its black eyes, and a pair of short horns protruding slightly back.
Onor pull out his Pokedex and scanned the small one first then the larger one.

They are very skittish as they will run around randomly to confuse their predators and give time for their parents to come. They sometimes play with each other to shorten their horns.

While still very skittish, they will be more aggressive if their herd is being threatened by any predators. They would sometimes let other Pokemons in the herd if they don't threaten the herd itself.
Onor then put his Pokedex back as the two continued to look at the herd with Taiga and Zorro joining them.
"Its amazing," Onor muttered as he quite admired the scene in front of him.
Tabs then noticed something glistening behind the herd and saw a familiar Pokemon. She quickly tug on the Ranger's shirt as she points on the back of the herd and said, "Doris is over there."
Onor then squiant his eyes to see that Doris is behind the herd and said, "We should be careful then, we don't want to scare them off."
She was about to say something till the sand collapse in front of the herd and quickly scared them as they ran around in fear and confusion.
The two then look around the panicking herd to see Doris panicking as well.
"There she is let's go!" Tabs said as she ran to the herd.
"Wait don't!" Onor tried to stop her as he quickly tried to chase her so she wouldn't get hurt in the herd with Zorro and Taiga following them.
They warily avoid the running Gaztrikes as the two needed to avoid them very quickly or they would have met a bad end.
"Doris!" Tabs called out to the Jewel Pokemon as her shout got its attention as Doris quickly hop up to her in the middle of the panic.
They then heard a loud honking noise that stop the panicking Gaztrikes and Gazleaps to a sudden halt.
Onor was slightly close to the herd and quickly freeze up with Zorro and Taiga while Tabs is crouching in the middle of the herd with Doris within her arms as she was also freeze up.
From Onor's point of view, he could see the herd splitting of to see an older Gaztrike with scars around its body heading to Tabs. He could only watch in fear as it slowly walks to to the defenseless girl.
As the leader finally reached Tabs and Doris, she could only look at it in fear as it showed her an angry look that intimidated her. She slightly quivered in fear while tightening her embrace on Doris. The leader look closer to her with its menacing gaze till it let out a loud snort which made her gasps.
The leader then let out another loud honking sound as the herd went on the move again which made Onor sigh in relief.
As the herd slowly move away from Tabs, Onor walk over to her if she was okay and was relieved that she was okay. He could only sigh as it it quite hard taking care of a girl that always causes trouble.
"We should go now," Onor said as he tried to lift her up but she quicky saw the fear on her eyes while her body shakes. "Tabs are you okay?"
Tabs then finally snap out of it and said, "O-Of course I am. Why wouldn't I?"
"Well you were shaking a second ago," Onor pointed out as Tabs nervously laugh it off.
"You just imagining it," Tabs said as she quickly turn around to hide her nervousness.
"If you say so," Onor said but he couldn't help but be worried. "We should go."
"Yeah," Tabs was about to turn around till she trip on something and fell on the sand. "What in the Distortion World was that?!"
Onor then kneeled down to see what the Poacher trip on and saw something letting out sparks under the sand, he sweep the sand off and saw that it was a spider shaped drone.
"Damn it, its a poacher drone," Onor cursed as he stood up and look where the herd is heading to. "They are heading to a trap."
"Well since we're here, we should stop them then?" Tabs asked as Onor look at her. "I'm not giving up my chances of getting those gym badges just because I'm a poacher myself."
Onor then sigh and said, "Let's just go."
They then went to Onor's bike and ride off to follow the herd.
They continued to follow the herd in the distance as they look around carefully on Onor's bike.
"Anything suspicious yet?" Onor asked as Taiga sat on his lap.
"Nothing yet but I'm not taking chances," Tabs said as her Pokemons are in the trailer.
"Are you sure that they would do it like this?"
"They'll do it on the back first then the front for an easy catch."
"How do you know all of this?" Onor asked as he look at her questioningly.
"I might have eavesdrop to some poachers back in the days, and stole a journal of theirs," Tabs said smugly as Onor just roll his eyes. They continued till they heard an explosion from behind that startled the herd to go forward. The two look back to see that the dunes are getting caved in as Onor quickly go faster.
"Go! Go! Go!" Tabs screamed.
"What do you think I'm doing!" Onor yelled as he increased the speed of his bike.
As they were about to fall in, the Ranger quickly turned to the other direction get out of the the way of the increasing size of the hole. The bike then crashed to one of the smaller dunes and the group could only groan.
"We should've stayed by the side," Tabs said as Onor reluctantly agreed as he then sit right up.
"We better look if they are okay," Onor said as the two then drove to where the herd is.
They continued to go through the desert till they saw the herd resting by an oasis and the two sigh in relief.
"Nothing wrong yet," Onor said.
"Yeah," Tabs said as she hugged Zorro.
Their relief was then ruined when and electrical cage surrounded the herd as they panic inside while the two Trainers could only look in shock.
"Oh no," Tabs said in horror as they saw two jeeps park near the cage while their Pokemons let out some noise of anger.
"We have to help them," Onor said as he tighten his grip on the handle bar.
"But what about you being discovered by the other Rangers?" Tabs asked which made Onor think.
Onor then remove his hat, vest, and binoculars in the side car as he then stood beside his bike to grab a handkerchief in his pocket and wrapped it around his head like a bandana.
"They wouldn't easily recognize me if I don't wear my original clothes," Onor said as Tabs look at him.
"You look nice wearing that," Tabs commented which made Onor roll his eyes.
"Let's just go," Onor said as he then slide down the dune to get to the oasis faster with Taiga following.
"Hey! Wait for me!" Tabs shouted as she then followed but before returning Bartho in his Pokeball and began to follow him with Zorro and Doris behind her.
In the oasis, the elder Gazleap ram the cage to destroy it but it got shocked by it, the two Poachers laugh at what they are doing with greedy smiles on their faces.
"We got a large catch, bro," The first poacher said.
"Indeed we have, we might actually gain a fortune after this," The other poacher said.
Suddenly, a large stone was about to hit the first poacher but he quickly evaded it in fright.
"What in the Distortion World!" The second poacher cursed as he look around the area, but didn't saw anyone.
Meanwhile, Onor and Tabs are carefully hiding their presence from the poachers, but Tabs thought it was a good idea to annoy them.
"Don't do that ever again," Onor said as he glared at Tabs who look at him sheepishly. The two then continued to sneak around the poachers as they look around for anything that would help the herd.
Onor look carefully in the poachers trucks till he saw a remote inside one of them and couldn't believe his luck. He was about to quietly open the door till he heard a loud click behind.
"Lookie here, a brat that shouldn't be here in the first place," Just behind him is the first poacher with a gun behind the Ranger's head.
"Have your parents told you of not wonder around," The second poacher said as just after meters from is said poacher having a scared Tabs trapped by his Pokémon on its feet.
It is a medium, black, sized canine-like Pokémon. It has a sturdy body covered with pitch black fur with some hint of gray around its body, a canine-like skull with a spine and ribcage connected on its head and body along with a long tail bone and four spikes on its back. Behind the eye holes of the skull are a pair of red eyes and black scleras. From the top of its head to its back, black flames came out of the external skeleton with a small blaze of it on the tip of its tail.
"Tabs, are you okay?" Onor said in worry as he has his hands in the air, but didn't get an answer as she was to scared to talk.
"You won't get an answer from her and neither will you two run away from us," The first poacher said as he prepare his gun.
"Tabs," Onor then give her a side glance filled with determination which slightly gave her hope. "Now!"
Onor quickly swat away the gun with his hand which caught the wielder of guard as he then sweep the poacher's leg which made his opponent to fire at the air. He then forced the poacher to stand up and kicked him hard on the chest which caused the poacher to backpedal to his partner.
The canine-like Pokémon tried to charge at Onor but the Ranger slid under it and grabbed Tabs by her hand as the two of them quickly open the trucks door and went in it. As the poachers stood up, Onor quickly closed the door and lock it as the two then relax in it till the first poacher bang his fists on the window which startled them.
"Open up!" The first poacher angrily said as he continued to bash the window while his poacher hunter also stood there in anger.
The two look at each other till they noticed the remote between which gave them an idea, but Tabs was more devious.
Tabs quickly swipe the remote and quickly pressed the off button which caused the cage that trapped the herd to turn off.
The two poachers and the canine-like Pokémon saw the cage drop and were now paling as the herd began to glare at them.
The leader of the herd then let out a loud cry as the whole herd began to charge right at them as the three began to run away in fear of the herd that would trample them below their feet.
The teens then exited the truck as Tabs smiled victorious while playfully tossing the remote in the air.
"How long do you think those two run?" Tabs asked as Onor just rolled his eyes.
"Just be happy that they are now free," Onor said as they the two then went back to the Ranger's bike to continue there way on the road.
Unbeknownst to the two, something began to follow them through the dusty dunes.
And that is it for this chapter.
This really took me a long time to finish, I am really busy with Victory through Remnant since that is my favorite story to do, so I don't have time for my other stories.
I only made this story because I just want to let out some steam that always chases me, Pokémon Honor and Pride is just a small gig because I am bored and would sparsely be updated, unlike my big three stories.
But I mainly focus on Victory through Remnant because that is what to focus in more, while Arc Music Album is very popular while Watching the Elements is my oldest, VTR is just my favorite story to work on.
It just a story that I began to favor more because I used RWBY, the RWBY wiki really helped me with it, and made me determine to make more stories with having the RWBY series as the part of the main plot with some tweaks in it.
I already plan some stories in the future but let's not spoil them.
For now, I'll see you on the next chapter or in my other stories.
