Chapter 8! We're getting close to Rick! But I'm so sad that there will only be 24 episodes left of the show. TWD is the first TV show that I watched when I was 14. Me being 20, almost 21. Well you can tell I'm going to be a bawling mess when the finale is out. Also sorry for the late update, A levels went hectic as all of mine were due the same week and they were art courses. I had the time to destress by watching Teen Wolf again. Anyways, let's do this!
Disclaimer I don't own The Walking Dead, just my ocs and storylines.
Callie's PoV
Callie closes the door to the truck and glances at Daryl.
"You ready?" Daryl looks to Callie for confirmation and she nods her head.
Callie unsheathes one machete and squeezes into the store through the chained doors, followed by Daryl. Who puts his crossbow through first then himself since it was a tight squeeze for him.
Daryl points towards one direction then himself and Callie nods in agreement. Splitting up, it will be faster to get everything they needed that way. But don't bad things happen? Callie could think back to many horror movies she's watched over the years, that when people split up that's when they are killed off, one by one. But this wasn't a horror movie. This was real, and it is worse than any horror movie she's ever seen.
Jeremy's PoV
Jeremy put the canteens of water onto Shane's truck, helping him.
"This is a pain in my ass." Shane mutters and Jeremy chuckles.
"Yeah." Jeremy loads the last one in before turning to Shane. "Glenn is going on a run soon."
Shane raises a brow at him, holding his personal canteen. "Is he now?"
"Into the city." Jeremy finishes and Shane almost drops one of the canteens which he fumbled to catch and slams it in the bed of the jeep.
"He can't go into the city alone. Outside of it is fine but inside Atlanta. There's probably swarms of geeks in there. Too many for Glenn to handle." Shane protests and Jeremy is in agreement with him. Glenn is some 23 year old guy, he is not old enough to go into the city on his own with all of those geeks waiting to devour him.
"How about we have a meeting tonight? You can tell Glenn who he can take, and I want to be on that list." Jeremy suggests and Shane nods, picking up his canteen from the bed, taking a long swig.
"That sounds like a plan. But may I ask, why tomorrow?" Shane finally looks to Jeremy.
"Well then the whole camp will hear, and at once. Instead of individually going up to people and asking them one by one. Better if they all know at the same time." Jeremy explains and Shane smiles at him.
"That makes sense. Thanks, Jer."
The pair drive up to the camp.
"Water is here y'all. Remember to boil before use." Shane tells everyone when they come to the jeep. Elijah comes, pushing past Jeremy and Shane raises a curious brow and Jeremy just shrugs. He has no idea what this guy's problem is.
He goes to sit down on the log near the fire, the fire that would be burning a low ember light tonight, like it does every night. Shane doesn't want the fire too big just in case other people see it or the geeks see it. Which in his opinion, is the best option. Shane is the leader that we need.
Callie's PoV
She walks through an aisle, looking at each jar where one catches her eye. A jar of pickles. Bingo. She reaches to grab it but feels something grab her leg. She looks down to see a geek and kicks it in the face but it doesn't let go. She panics and quickly moves away but trips and falls on the floor with a thump and her machete slides a couple of feet away.
The geek starts crawling, reaching up, which gives her the opportunity to smash her boot in its face, breaking the teeth and sent some scattering across the floor. This grants her the opportunity to slide back and she manages to grab the hilt of the machete just as the geek grabs a hold of her again and she drives her machete in the face with a sickening crunch.
She breathes a sigh of relief and collapses onto the floor. That was close. Callie quickly stands up and grabs the jar and stuffs it in her bag.
"Callie!"
She whips around to Daryl running towards her, a wildness in his eyes. Which is rare for Daryl to be panicked about something.
"What is it?"
"There's thirty of 'em outside. We need to go. Now."
Callie nods her head and they go around the back. Running faster and skid to a stop at the exit. There's no windows so they can't exactly know when one of those things are walking past. It's just a matter of hope and prayer. Callie grips her machete tightly while Daryl grabs the door handle, looking at her and holding a finger at his lips. He nods and he pushes the door open, revealing one geek, Callie raises her machete and brings it down on his skull, with a sickening crunch, the geek is dead. They pair push through, noticing the lack of geeks at the back and grin at each other.
Tabby's PoV
Tabby glances at Dale who's on top of the RV, clearly given up of fixing his RV for the day. He's probably saving it for the next day with Jim.
"Anything?" Tabby calls up to Dale.
"Not yet. Callie will be fine." Dale tells her.
Tabby wanted to tell Callie the truth, that Josie was the one that wanted her to spy on them. To determine whether or not that Callie was safe to be around her kids. Because she was pretty damn sure that Callie knows it was bullshit, learning how to fight, having genuine conversations with them. Even though she genuinely wanted to learn, they won't trust her now, not after that.
"Want an ear?" A voice broke her out of her thoughts. She looks up to Dale watching her worriedly.
"Sure." She responds before climbing the ladder of the RV, sitting down and hanging her legs over the edge.
"What has got you worried?" Dale asks her.
"I just wanted to tell Callie something, something important about someone who wanted me to do said something." Tabby tells him and he looks at her like she's crazy.
"Ok, hypothetically, would that someone be Josie?" Dale asks her and Tabby gives him a shocked look.
"Wha- no. Absolutely not." Tabby denies but Dale gives her a look. "Yeah, it totally is Josie. How did you know?"
"I'm old. And I have eyes. Everyone else just wants to ignore what's happening around them." Dale points out to her.
Tabby smiles. Dale's right. Everyone is ignoring the fact that Shane and Lori are having an affair when not long ago her husband died, but the worse thing is that Carl doesn't know. So everyone is pretending that it's not happening to not feel guilty over him. Another thing, with Carol and Sophia, getting beaten up by Ed, they don't want to get involved because it's not their problem. But what happens when Ed hits someone other than them? What happens if he kills one of them? Or someone else? Are they just gonna ignore it too?
Tabby needs to tell Shane to train everyone. To separate Carol and Sophia from Ed. To at least tell Carl about his relationship so he can accept it. She needs to urge Josie to tell Callie the truth. Everyone is against each other, and one day someone will die from this. And Tabby knows she has to stop it all going wrong.
Callie's PoV
Tabby approaches Callie, which makes her go tense.
"I'll see you later." Daryl mutters before stalking off.
"What do you want?" Callie snaps at her, her temper coming in short.
Tabby flinches. "I just wanted to apologise. About lying and everything." Callie's jaw clenched as she looks at her. "And I wanted to tell you who put me on the job."
"Who?" Callie questions, curiously.
"Josie." Tabby answers and Callie's heart stops. She did not expect her. She thought Lori, Andrea, Shane, Jeremy, anyone but her. "She did it to protect their kids. She wanted to make sure that you were a good person."
Callie nods her head, but is growling in the inside. She went out and got her stuff, but really she was making sure she was not going to go back shit crazy and not kill her kids, but really she thinks that it's the company that she's with. They are hunters, yes they are messed up, well, Merle is, but Daryl is good. He's short tempered but there's nothing wrong with that, it's just how Shane and Jeremy treat them, it's rubbing off of everyone else too.
They were all sitting around the camp fire, in broken out seats, logs and whatever, ready for an announcement from Shane, and Jeremy is standing confidently behind him, which gets on her nerves. Shane has some right ideas but right now, we need to get everyone to learn how to fight, learn how to defend themselves at least. That's what Callie thinks anyway.
"Uh, everyone." Shane calls out, gaining everyones attention, he scratches the back of his neck. "Glenn is going out on a run tomorrow, and I want a group to go out with him."
Here we go! This chapter took too long for my liking, first writer's block, then my A levels sketchbooks are due in. So I forced myself to sit down and write and now here we are. I hope you guys enjoyed this chapter!
