I play pinochle with a horse

Travis shook his head, "Don't let Chiron hear you call him that,"

"Yeah. Travis and I once did, and he was not happy," Connor nodded

"I remember that," Katie laughed, and Travis frowned

"It was not funny,"

"It kinda was,"

I had weird. . .rest wanted food.

"I - Yeah, I mean yeah. That works, I guess," Jason laughs, and Percy shrugs, pointing at Grover, who bleats.

"It was his fault,"

I must've woken. . .with the spoon.

"Awww," Aphrodite coos

"Stockholm syndrome," Leo jokes, and both Annabeth's and Percy's blush.

"I hate you," Percy grumbles

When she saw. . .the summer solstice?"

The Gods lean forward, subtly, thinking they were finally gonna get an answer.

"Really, Annabeth?" Thalia asks, smirking, "He just got there, and he has no idea what's going on, and you ask him that?"

Annabeth blushes, "I didn't know he just got there, not really, anyway. I mean he defeated the Minotaur, I thought he had at least some training,"

"Yeah, well he didn't,"

"Which makes me wonder how much he could do with the proper training," Ares muses, eyeing him again.

I managed to. . .a few weeks!"

"Until what?" Athena asks, frustrated

"I'm sorry," I. . .of his hands.

Hera smiles with pride at the mention of her son and Percy sighs, "So many puns,"

When I finally. . .smelled like strawberries.

"I can't wait till we get this whole thing figured out," Percy mutters, quietly, and the other kids from 2010 nod in agreement.

There was a. . . for a nest.

"Foreshadowing, much?" Annabeth mutters

My tongue was. . .the goat boy.

"Hey, that's my nickname for him," Thalia protests

"You can have it. I've got my own," Percy says, and both of them grin at Grover's affronted expression.

"You're both terrible people,"

So maybe I'd. . .a good idea-"

"Uh-huh, yeah," Will drawls, sarcastically, "'Cause that makes such a difference,"

"That's what they. . .man, half bull."

"And he keeps going,"

"'Course he does,"

Grover shifted uncomfortably. . .should look beautiful.

"Gee, Kelp Head, didn't know you could be so deep," Thalia teases, lightly, and Percy rolls his eyes.

"I'm sorry," Grover. . .in the world,"

"Grover!" Thalia scolds, "That is far from true,"

"Yeah, come on, man," Percy nudges him, "You found every Greek big three kid there is,"

"And you didn't go insane," Annabeth mutters, and the Greek big three kids glare at her. She smiles innocently back at them.

"Besides," Percy continues, "It wasn't your fault it happened. You didn't send the Minotaur after us,"

Grover sighs, "Yeah, okay. Thanks, guys,"

He moaned, stomping his foot so hard it came off.

"What?"

I mean, the converse hi-top came off.

"Oh,"

The inside was. . .the clear sky.

"Overdramatic, much?" Poseidon asks, rolling his eyes.

As he struggled. . .on his head

Grover made a noise of protest as Percy snickers, "Don't worry, I won't shave your hair,"

Travis grins, "But I might,"

Grover's eyes widen and he scoots a little bit further from him.

but I was. . .into yellow light.

"Which still doesn't make sense," Hermes frowns

I was alone. . .Smelly Gabe?

There were some growls around the room

No. That would. . .join the army.

Suddenly, the Greek campers all started sniggering.

"What?" Percy asks

"Prissy, you could hardly pass for twelve, much less 16," Clarisse smirks.

"Yeah, Annabeth was taller than you," Chris nods.

"Hey, what's that supposed to mean?" Annabeth asks, indignance powering over the amusement.

"Nothing," he says, quickly, "Keep reading?"

I'd do something.

The playful mood dissipated, slightly, as that sentence was read. Even though they knew Gabe was terrible, it was still hard to hear that he'd do something - anything - to get away from him. It made them wonder how bad he really was if he was willing to join the Army so he didn't have to be near him again.

Grover was still. . .wasn't your fault."

"And it never will be," Percy says, firmly, and Grover sends him a grateful look

"Yes, it was. . .at the taste,

"Why?" Apollo asks. Ambrosia and nectar were the best, he couldn't imagine anybody not liking it.

"Because I was expecting apple juice,"

"Ooh,"

because I was. . .chips still melting.

"I want cookies," Leo whispers, and Percy chuckles.

"Me too. We can make some during our next break,"

Drinking it, my. . .to be okay.

A pang of jealousy went through most of the demigods in the room. Those who haven't heard about what had happened felt bad because they knew he had lost his mom, and those who had (and hadn't) felt bad because of Gabe, but they couldn't help it. It was hard hearing about families with people who cared. It didn't happen often.

Before I knew. . .let you taste."

"No," Hermes says, eyes widening, slightly.

"You better not," Dionysus grumbles

His eyes got. . . a hundred yards."

"Do it," Ares whispers

"That's good," he. . .Mr. D are waiting."

"Thanks for the answer," Percy says, drily and Grover blushes, "Sorry,"

The porch wrapped. . .let it go.

Ares grunts in approval, looking over Percy again. There was something. . .different about him. Completely clueless, yet strong enough to defeat a minotaur with no training. He'd have to ask Athena later if she noticed anything.

As we came. . .horses had wings.

"It sounds amazing," Hazel smiles.

Percy nods and sighs, wistfully, "It is,"

Down at the. . .small, but porky.

Dionysus, who's pretty sure he wasn't talking about Chiron, sets his magazine on his lap and raises an eyebrow

"Oh, this is gonna be good," Apollo sniggers and Percy sinks into the cushion.

He had a . . . call them hubbubs?

"I believe," Dionysus says, drily, "the word you are looking for is cherub," and the others have to stifle their laughter as Percy groans.

No, cherubs. . .trailer park.

"How very flattering," Dionysus glares at Percy.

"He's right, though," Aphrodite muses, "You could do with a makeover,"

Dionysus directs is glare at her and she raises her hands, placatingly, "Just saying,"

He wore a . . . even my step-father.

"Of course I could," Dionysus rumbles, picking up his magazine, again.

"That description was amazing, Perce," Leo grins and Dionysus exhales, shortly.

"Yes, he better be glad I don't incinerate him for it,"

"That's Mr. D. . .Be polite."

"Yeah, right," Thalia smirks

Percy frowns, "I can be polite. . .just when I want to,"

"So, never?" Will mutters under his breath and Nico coughs to cover his laugh.

The girl, that's. . .the scraggly beard.

"That's why he sounded so familiar," Leo realizes

"Yup,"

"Mr. Brunner!" I cried

"He - Grover literally just told you his name was Chiron," Beckendorf says, raising an eyebrow.

"And I had literally just spent a year calling him Mr. Brunner, so, yeah,"

The latin teacher. . .choice answers B.

"Aw, why didn't I get him as a teacher?" Travis whines.

"Yeah, I want all the answers to be B," Leo frowns.

"Guess I just got lucky," Percy grins, knowing full well that was an understatement. There was a reason why Chiron had been his favorite teacher - and not just because his class had been easier. He'd been one of the only teachers Percy ever had that hadn't doubted his ADHD and dyslexia.

"Ah, good, Percy,". . .four for pinochle."

"Is it. . .required to know how to play?" Frank asks. The greeks nod

"Yes."

He offered me. . .to see you."

"You could be a little more enthusiastic, brother," Hermes frowns.

"I could, but then I'd be lying, and we wouldn't do that, now would we?"

"Uh, thanks," I. . .was a satyr.

There were a few uneasy chuckles around the room.

Annabeth looked over at Percy curiously. It made sense. Percy had always declined any form of alcohol, even as the Hermes' kids tried to convince him that they were all gonna die soon, anyway. It made her wonder what else Gabe impacted.

"Annabeth?" Mr. Brunner. . .eleven for now."

"My cabin?" Hermes asks, "Why?" The Greeks exchange glances.

"That's where all the unclaimed kids go," Chris says, "I'm sure it'll come up,"

Annabeth said, "Sure. . . of inches taller.

"Ha! Not anymore!" Percy smirks and Annabeth rolls her eyes.

"By like an inch and a half,"

". . .Shorty,"

and a whole. . .ruined the image.

"Oh?" Annabeth, Athena, and Annabeth ask, all turning to the Percy's, who blush.

"In a good way, though,"

They were startling grey, like rain clouds; pretty, but intimidating.

"See?" Percy proves, and Annabeth grins as Percy blushes harder.

as if she. . .in a fight.

"I was," Annabeth confirms

"Why am I not surprised?"

She glanced at. . . something like that.

Artemis narrows her eyes at the comment as Thalia snorts, "Yeah, right. You obviously didn't know Annabeth very well, then, because that's the last thing she'd say,"

Instead she said, "You drool when you sleep."

"Wow," Rachel snorts as both Percy's blush, "That's iconic, Annabeth,"

Then she sprinted. . .stand for something?"

"You really didn't know anything, did you?" Poseidon asks, and Percy groans.

"No, I didn't. But it's not entirely my fault! It's not like anybody was answering my questions!"

Mr. D stopped. . .for no reason."

"Gods, Percy, when will you learn?" Piper asks, and he shakes his head.

"I probably won't, to be honest,"

"Oh. Right. Sorry.". . .leave of absence.

"...he took a leave of absence just to teach you?" Athena asks, slightly miffed.

Percy shrugs, "I guess so,"

I tried to. . . taken the class.

"He didn't - kill him, did he?" Percy asks, suddenly, thinking of Paul. He didn't want that happening to his step-dad.

"Nah, probably just gave him a vay-cay," Apollo shakes his head.

"You came to Yancy just to teach me?" I asked. Chiron nodded.

"Don't get a big head over it, because it obviously didn't work," Silena teases, and Percy sticks his tongue out at her.

"Honestly, I wasn't . . . the first test."

"That's. . . reassuring," Aphrodite frowns.

"Grover," Mr. D . . . tiger-print Hawaiian shirt.

Grover yelps and looks at Mr. D warily, who doesn't react. Persephone watches him a moment, still expecting him to at least say something, before continuing reading.

"You do know . . . director less and less.

"Hehehe," Travis sniggers, and then whispers in a conspiratorial whisper, "Join the club,"

"Well," he told . . . the same question."

The Percy's roll their eyes as the others laugh.

The camp director . . . the right answer.

"Too bad he never did," Annabeth sighs, faux-wistfully.

"Hey!"

"Percy," he said. . . .over the sea.

Hermes remembered the earlier comment from the last chapter - how it seemed like Sally got younger as she got closer to the water. He'd have to check on that next break. There could be something there.

"She told me . . ."

"Typical," Mr. D said.

"Of course it is," Hera snaps, "They're their children,"

"That's how they . . . won't be sufficient."

"Orien - Camp Half-Blood has an orientation film?" Chris frowns.

Apollo nods, "Oh, yes! Directed by yours truly. It's the best thing I've ever made if I do say so myself,"

"Be glad you don't have to watch it," Nico mutters

"Orientation film?" I . . . feat, either, lad.

"No. Which is why it doesn't make sense," Athena mutters

What you may . . . up his points.

Dionysus looks up, raising his eyebrows.

"Mr. D," Grover asked . . . with the metaphysical."

"Is it metaphysical, though?" Percy murmurs and Annabeth raises an eyebrow.

"We literally are products of Greek Gods, I'm pretty sure it is,"

"Hm," Percy says, thinking. He'd have to ask a God after this because he was pretty sure other Parthenon's existed. And if they did. . . that'd be interesting.

"Metaphysical? But you . . . a smaller matter."

"A - smaller matter?" Zeus splutters, outraged

"I'm sure that's not what he meant, brother," Hades says, rolling his eyes.

"Besides, I mean, technically speaking, it is," Percy points out, and the Gods turn to him. He raises his hands, "Not like that. I just mean, y'know, because if there was only one God, he'd have to do everything, and you guys just split it all up,"

Zeus narrows his eyes but doesn't say anything, knowing he has a point.

"Smaller?" "Yes, quite.

". . . You sure that's not what he meant?" Jason asks, quietly, and Percy chuckles

The gods we. . .I were you."

"It's - it's pointless. I give up. Doesn't matter," Annabeth grumbles, and Percy flashes her a grin.

"But they're stories,". . .never told anybody-

"Never?" Connor asks

"Nope." Percy says, then reconsiders, "Well, not anymore, I guess,"

"What will people. . . if. . . he wasn't.

"This is gonna take a long time for you to process, isn't it?" Katie asks, and Percy sighs, grumbling under his breath.

It was enough. . .not," I said.

"Is that part of the reason why -" Annabeth starts, and Percy nods

"Yep." then looks at her, "Part of,"

"Exactly," Chiron agreed. . .losing their mothers?"

"Oooh, low blow, Chiron," Will winces, and Percy shrugs.

"At the time, but he was trying to get the point across. And it worked,"

My heart pounded. . .believe in gods."

"Still not a hundred percent sure I do," Percy says, under his breath, and Hazel snorts.

"Oh, you'd better," Mr. D murmured, "Before one of them incinerates you."

"Hasn't happened yet, I don't see it happening in the near future," Thalia sighs.

Grover said, "P-please, sir. He's just lost his mother. He's in shock."

"Nope, that's just the way he is,"

"A lucky thing. . .Old habits! Sorry!"

"Yes," Zeus rolls his eyes, "Old habits,"

"Maybe if you hadn't taken away my domain," Dionysus grumbles

More thunder.

"Must you always be so dramatic?" Hera asks.

Mr. D waved. . .from outer space.

"Geez, Percy, you -"

"Don't say anything," He grits, "Nobody explained anything to me, okay?"

"Yes," Mr. D. . . Ha. Absolutely unfair.

"Unfair?" Zeus asks, and Dionysus glares at him.

"Yes, unfair. You don't take anybody else's domain away. Except, perhaps, Apollo's, but that's not fair, either,"

Apollo nods, vigorously, "He's got a point,"

Zeus glares at them both before sighing and waving his hand, causing a wine goblet to appear. Dionysus stares at it for a moment, with a sort of reverence, before taking a drink and exhaling.

Mr. D sounded about six years old, like a pouting little kid.

"He is one," Zeus grumbles, but Dionysus is too busy savoring his wine to say anything.

"And. . ." I stammered. . .boy the basics.

Percy blushed, "He did," making the others laugh

My father is. . .god of wine.

"I'm surprised you figured it out on your own," Nico mutters.

"At least I didn't call him the wine dude," Percy retorts, and Nico's ears redden.

Mr. D rolled. . .Percy Jackson.

"Woah. He called you by your real name?" Beckendorf asks, impressed.

"Wasn't the last time, actually," Percy says.

Frank shakes his head, "Still can't believe that's not an actual thing,"

Did you think I was Aphrodite, perhaps?"

"Ugh, no," Aphrodite wrinkles her nose, "he wishes,"

"He does not," Dionysus says, raising his eyebrows at her.

"You're a god."

"Yes, child."

"You. A god."

"Di Immortals, Percy," Poseidon sighs, and Dionysus glares at said person.

"What in Hades' name -"

"Hey!"

"Is that supposed to mean?"

"Well, er - I mean, you don't look like a God," Percy stammers, " Or at least," He rushes, "Not how I thought a God would look,"

Dionysus narrows his eyes further before flipping another page to his magazine and grumbling something about delinquents.

He turned to. . . of my life

Percy and Percy shudder - that had not been a very friendly image - as Poseidon sighs, "He better not,"

"Would you like. . .believe I win,"

Dionysus sits up and some of the Gods jaws drop

"Not quite, Mr. D,". . . goes to me,"

He slumps back against his throne, grumbling about ponies as the other Gods nod. That made a lot more sense - they couldn't remember the last time Dionysus had won a game of Pinochle against Chiron.

I thought Mr. D. . .the latin teacher.

"He is,"

He got up. . .on this assignment.

"But he didn't do anything!" Hazel protests and Grover looks at her, startled.

"Don't worry," He says, "Nothing happened,"

Grover's face beaded. . .the Gods do,"

"I've always wondered how that worked," Reyna muses, and Persephone shrugs.

"it's not hard. It's kinda like the Labyrinth, except we don't grow on our own - we rely on others to believe in us,"

"You mean the. . . civilization were obliterated,

"And thank Us for that," Apollo mutters

The fire started. . then they died."

"Yup," Chris deadpans, "That's exactly what happened."

"Erugh," Percy groans, "I get it, shut up,"

"Died? No. Did. . .buildings in Washington.

". . .Huh." Leo says, "I never noticed that, actually,"

I defy you. . . of some club.

"Or a camp,"

"Who are you, Chiron? Who. . .who am I?"

"Damn, in with the deep questions, huh?" Rachel chuckles.

Chiron smiled. . .the waist down.

"Yup, sure he is," Piper smirks, and Percy glares at her, giving up on saying anything at this point.

"Who are you?". . .simply adore chocolate."

"He does, doesn't he?" Aphrodite says to herself, "I'll have to get him some more soon,"

And then he. . . white velvet underwear,

Both Percy's blush as everyone turns to them, with amused and bewildered expressions

". . . seriously?" Annabeth asks, and Percy puts his head in his hands.

"It's not like I knew,"

"Dude," Travis states, "I want your imagination,"

"No, you don't. Trust me."

but as he. . . all of him.

"Cool," Leo breathes.

A leg came. . .the other campers."

"That's it," Persephone says.

"I'll read next," Demeter offers, taking the book.
