Ana and Sarah are OCs
Ana sits in the Great Hall as she picks at her lunch. She sighs as the other Ravenclaws chatter among themselves. Ana gently pushes the plate away from her.
"Hey Ana! How are you this fine day," a female voice says.
Ana's stomach leaps to her throat as she turns to see her best friend Sarah walking over to her. A bright smile is on Sarah's face. Butterflies erupt as they flutter around in Ana's stomach. She feels her face heat up as Sarah reaches her. Sarah places her bag on the floor as she brushes her braided blonde hair off of her shoulder.
"Oh um...hi Sarah. Glad you could make it," Ana mutters as she faces her plate.
"Yeah. Sorry that it took me a while. I didn't think that the essay Professor Snape gave us for DADA would take that long to complete. Did you already finish yours?" Sarah asks as she sits next to Ana.
"No, but I've got about half of the essay complete. I was thinking about finishing it after lunch," Ana explains as Sarah starts to pile food onto her plate.
"Ah ok. Do you need any help with it? We do have time before we need to go to Potions with Professor Slughorn. We got what? Like, an hour and thirty minutes," Sarah says as she scoops some mashed potatoes onto her spoon. "And then maybe we could look for that book you were talking about. Uh, what was it called again?"
"Fantastic Beast and Where to Find Them."
"Right! Wait, didn't you already read that book?"
"Yes. But that is my favorite book to read. And I'm in the mood to read it," Ana says. 'Plus it's my comfort book.'
"Fair enough. Hey, did you ever figure out who sent you that flirty note?"
"Of course. His name is Shaun and he's in Gryffindor, and a year younger than us."
"Shaun eh? Isn't he that cute blondy that I see hanging out around the library?"
"Yup. From what I've gathered, he's only hanging around the library to try and catch my attention," Ana explains as Sarah takes another bite from her food.
"Really? Do you fancy him?" Sarah asks between chewing her lunch.
"No, he's not my type," Ana tells her as she glances at her friend. 'Or the correct gender,' Ana silently thinks.
"Fair enough," Sarah says as she looks over at the Gryffindor table. "Are you going to tell him? Or are you just going to wait until he realizes that you aren't interested in him?"
"I'm not sure yet. Might just wait and see what happens," Ana explains. "Anyways, I better go and get the essay done. I'll see you later."
"Alright. See you later Ana," Sarah says as she smiles and salutes her friend.
Ana smiles as she throws her bag over her shoulder. She then turns and starts walking towards the entrance to the Great Hall. Ana brushes some strands of her brown, almost black, hair out of her face. She starts walking up the stairs, lost in her thoughts.
The walk to the library was uneventful, she has walked the path from the Great Hall to the library many times. Once she reaches the library, Ana heads straight for her favorite spot to do work. She places her bag down next to the table as she takes a seat. Humming a song quietly, Ana grabs what she needs and starts on the DADA essay.
Lost in her thoughts and in working, she didn't notice someone approach her table until they clear their throat. Ana stops working and looks up to see Shaun standing there.
"Oh, hi Shaun. Is there something you need," Ana asks, knowing full well why Shaun was there.
"Ah um, yes. I um, I know that you know that it was me who sent you that letter. And um, I was wondering what your answer is. I um, also wanted to know if you would go on a date with me?" Shaun asks kindly, face slightly red and a shy smile on his face.
"I'm sorry, but I don't like you the way you like me," Ana tells him, a small apologetic smile on her face.
"Oh um, ok. Sorry for asking."
"No need to apologize. You don't need to apologize for asking me out. Just because I said no, doesn't mean the next person will. You just got to find the one person to make you happy."
"Ah um, ok. Thanks for the advice. So um, who are you exactly into? I've never seen you talk to any boys before."
Ana looks up at Shaun, frozen slightly in place. Does she tell her? Or does she lie and not be honest to herself?
"Well, who I fancy doesn't really help you in any way, does it?"
"Well um, no. I just, I was just curious to know."
"Well, I'm sorry to say but I'm not going to tell you."
"Ok. That's fine. I understand why. Well, I'll let you get back to the essay. Have a good day Ana," Shaun says as he smiles.
"Thanks. Same for you as well," Ana tells him, returning the smile.
Shaun then turns and heads towards the entrance to the library. He leaves and walks towards his destination as Ana goes back to the essay.
She works quickly and quietly, getting that rest on the essay done well before Potions.
'There, all done. Now then, I have twenty minutes before I should head towards Potions. That's enough time to see if the book is at its usual place. Maybe I should get a copy of the book so I don't have to keep borrowing the one from the library,' Ana thinks as she heads towards the bookshelf where her favorite book is usually.
It doesn't take her long to find the book, seeing as she knows where it lays. Ana grabs the book and heads towards the front desk to check it out before heading off to Potions with the other Ravenclaws and Hufflepuff.
"Here you go Ana. Have a great day and enjoy the book...again."
"Thanks. I'll see you later," Ana says as she waves goodbye and heads towards the dungeons.
Ana sighs, as she walks there. She looks up at the ceiling as she thinks about what Shaun asked. She never really considered dating anyone, not when the only one she wanted to date was Sarah. Which in all honest, might not even happen. With how everyone acts about dating another and marriage and them having a family and kids, there was no place for her love. But that won't make her stop dreaming and wishing that maybe that will change. That one day she can tell Sarah what she feels and that they can be together. One day, hopefully in the near future. They can be together.
