As DX regains control of the NXT roster, Seth Rollins and his God girls realise that they might have underestimated just how powerful Sasha's new Gift is.
Chapter Eight – Volcano Girl
NXT, Orlando, FL
It was showtime; NXT was live and it was just an hour until Becky Lynch's epic match against Johnny Gargano for the NXT World Heavyweight Championship. Seth had been able to calm her down through prayer and when they met up with Bianca and Bliss in New York City, Becky was back to her faithful and vibrant self.
All signs pointed to NXT being a blockbuster of a show and everyone was talking about the main event on social media. From sports outlets to entertainment journalists, the NXT World title match was on the screens of fans and casual folk all over the world, who wanted to see the Man make history once again.
As the main event drew closer, Hunter and Shawn got more excited. Bianca and Bliss had come over to watch the show with the rest of the NXT locker room while Seth had gone back to the Sandbox to be with Sasha and Abiyah. He said they'd be watching from their tablet and Sasha told Becky she wouldn't miss the match for the world.
All eyes were on the Man and the man she was about to make history with, Johnny Gargano. When Johnny saw Becky, he felt a lot calmer as Becky's demeanour had improved and she seemed a lot more like herself. While he still intended to bring it as he always did, he was no longer worried about things getting out of control and DX assured him that everything was going to be fine.
"Go out there and have fun Johnny like always," Hunter said to him before the show started and Johnny Wrestling intended to do just that.
Bianca and Bliss sat with Rhea Ripley, Raquel Gonzalez and Dakota Kai in the back while Becky thanked DX for the opportunity to make history once again.
"Hey no worries Bex, if anyone deserves to make history one more time, it's you," Hunter said to Becky sweetly, "After all, if it wasn't for you, Shawn and I would still be on the unemployment line. Now, get your red-head out there and kill it,"
"Will do boss," Becky said confidently and her ring entrance music played. The fans went crazy as she stepped out on the stage, basking in the glory as she headed towards the ring. The importance of this match was not lost on the Man but the fans' adoration always made things just that much better for her. She had only been back in NXT a short while but people had followed her journey back to the black and gold brand since coming home from Dublin and they were still with her for yet another epic match up with the face of NXT, Johnny Gargano.
Johnny Wrestling made his ring entrance and Becky Lynch paced around the ring full of excitement for what was about to go down.
That excitement came to a sudden end as the Man caught sight of two faces ringside: Finn Balor and Beth Hardy were in attendance and suddenly, everything went black.
The Sandbox
"You have got to be kidding me?" Sasha said to Seth as the match between Johnny Gargano and Becky Lynch started, or at least, it was supposed to have started. Currently, Becky Lynch was standing in the middle of the ring, she wasn't moving, she was just glaring ringside.
Seth put his head in his hands, "Come on Becky snap out of it," he prayed and then the match started and boy did it get off to a rough start.
"Becky is wiping the floor with Johnny Gargano!" Sasha said amazed, "Seth, she is mad! Didn't you talk to her before the match started?"
"Just give it a minute, maybe she'll calm down," Seth said and after a very aggressive start, Becky and Johnny got into a flow and the match started to go along just fine. In fact, the match exceeded everyone's expectations and minutes later, Johnny and Becky were having a classic.
"Hey now they're in the groove!" Sasha said and she tapped Seth on the shoulder, "your prayer really did work!"
"It always does," Seth said relieved as Johnny and Becky made history right in front of the world.
NXT
Seth wasn't the only one saying a prayer of relief, Bianca and Bliss were doing the same after seeing the look on Becky's face when she saw Finn Balor and Beth Hardy at ring side. Finn was obviously there at the behest of Stephanie McMahon and Beth Hardy had come along for the ride. It was clear that she didn't care for Finn romantically, the only thing Beth was interested in was watching Becky Lynch make history, which she did. After twenty minutes of classic wrestling back-and-forth action, Becky Lynch locked in her Disarm Her on the current NXT World Champion. He then reversed it and put her in the Gargano Escape. The fans were going nuts as it looked like the Man was going to tap out to Johnny Wrestling. That would not be the finish tonight, as Becky broke out of Gargano's hold and returned to her finishing maneouver, pulling back on Johnny's arm with as much vigor and ferocity as she could. After what seemed like an eternity, Johnny Gargano tapped out.
"Becky won!" Beth Hardy cheered from ring side and she celebrated by jumping up and down as Finn blithely acknowledged the victory beside her, like it was just another match.
"She did it! She did it!" Dakota Kai cried from backstage along with the rest of the NXT locker room. As much as Bianca and Bliss wanted to join in with the celebration, they had to get to ringside and make sure the Man's big night didn't get spoiled by Finn Balor and Beth Hardy.
As everyone celebrated, Becky Lynch hugged Johnny Gargano and they shared a truly emotional moment in the ring.
Then, all Hell broke loose.
Shawn looked over at Hunter from the production area, "What happened to Becky's music?" he said as the Man's music suddenly stopped playing.
"I don't know," Hunter said and suddenly, hundreds of little metallic poisonous spiders ran across the sound board, dismantling the equipment and biting DX on the hands.
"Hunter we're under attack!" Shawn said as his Righteous Indignation was activated and he destroyed each of the little spiders with his Gift from God. The Gift also destroyed the production cues for the end of the show. "Hunter!"
The Game had been bitten by the little spiders, the creation of Kenny Omega's Harvard scientist girlfriend, Kendrick Alexander, who was in the building with her boyfriend and AJ Styles.
Kenny Omega suddenly appeared in the crowd much to the fans raucous applause.
"Thanks Hunter, we'll take things from here," Kenny said as Shawn called for Bianca Belair to heal Hunter's spider bitten hand.
Kenny Omega headed towards the ring where Becky and Johnny Gargano were still standing. He was with AJ Styles who had never been on NXT progamming. Suddenly, NXT was trending for a whole new reason but Becky's part in it was far from over.
Kenny entered the ring with AJ Styles and then Finn Balor got out from behind the barricade, bringing Beth Hardy with him and they too got into the ring.
Candice Larae and the Way were panicking from backstage as Bianca Belair and Bliss attended to Hunter.
"What is happening? Is my husband going to be okay?" Candice asked Shawn Michaels and Alexa Bliss shook her head.
"Finn Balor's in the ring, so all bets are off," she replied and she left Bianca's side, covering herself up so no-one recognised her. She had to get to Becky before things really got out of control.
The Bullett Club surrounded Becky and Johnny, Kenny Omega looked Becky's newly won World Championship up and down, "Nice title, I think that would look really good around my waist," he said.
"Wanna take it from me? Just name the time and the place," Becky Lynch said.
"Okay I will," Kenny replied. "How about NXT Takeover? Kenny Omega vs the Man for the World Heavyweight Championship?"
Alexa Bliss stood in front of the hard camera to get Becky's attention, "Accept the match and get out of the ring," she mouthed to Becky and the Man nodded realising that this wasn't part of the show.
"I accept," she said to Kenny Omega, then she got in his face, "Now get out of my ring,"
Bliss sighed, "Gosh darn it Bex!" she said knowing that the alpha in Becky wouldn't let her back down to Kenny Omega.
"Ladies first," Kenny Omega replied and suddenly Finn Balor grabbed Becky by the arm and tossed her out of the ring.
"Becky!" Alexa cried and Johnny Gargano quickly attended to her, breaking character and suddenly the fans realised something major had just happened.
"Are you alright?" Johnny said checking on Becky but he could barely touch her. Her body started to glow and this intense heat started to radiate from her body.
Alexa Bliss couldn't believe it; Finn Balor had just completely stolen Becky Lynch and Johnny Gargano's history making moment and he wasn't done yet.
AJ Styles handed Finn a microphone and the former NXT Champion leaned on the ropes looking down at Becky Lynch with contempt.
"Finally, you're out of my life but it's like I always said Becky, it always harder being the one that gets dumped. At least you'll have that World title to keep you warm, at least until KO gets his hands on it, then you'll have nothing and I will have everything," Finn Balor said and he put his arm around Beth Hardy affectionately, "Talk about an upgrade, right fellas?" he said to AJ and Kenny who laughed at Becky as Finn dropped the mic and then dropped the bomb of the night by kissing Stephanie McMahon's daughter right there in the middle of the NXT ring.
As Hunter recovered, he looked at the production camera and saw Beth Hardy and Finn Balor kissing while Johnny Gargano and Becky Lynch were on the outside of the ring.
"Cut the feed!" Hunter cried out and Bianca went to get Becky while the fans cheered uproariously for what was the most controversial episode of NXT ever.
As Bianca raced down to Becky, Finn, Omega and AJ Styles left with Beth Hardy, who suddenly broke away from Finn and ran over to Becky.
"That was an awesome match Becky, you will always be the Man to me. Don't let my Ma get to you, keep fighting the good fight of faith! I believe in you!" Beth Hardy said and she hugged Becky Lynch lovingly before running off to join the Bullett Club and they left the building before Hunter and Shawn could get their hands on them.
Soon, the NXT roster were looking for them while DX checked on Becky Lynch and Johnny Gargano.
"Hunter got bit by electronic spiders," Bianca told Becky as Johnny helped her to her feet.
"So, Kendrick Alexander is back on the scene," Becky said and to Bianca and Bliss' amazement, she was smiling.
"I know that look," Bianca said impressed, "looks like the Man's got a plan,"
"The Man sure does, nobody steals my history making moment and gets away with it," Becky said and Johnny looked at her incredulous as the Way came over to check on him.
"Why are you smiling? You just got one-upped by Kenny Omega and your ex-boyfriend! I would be so mad right now," Johnny said to Becky.
"Oh I'm mad Johnny, trust me. I'm going off on the inside," Becky said but her mind was filled with joy over the words of love that had come from Beth Hardy. She looked at Bianca and Bliss, "she still loves me, there's still hope. We can still save her," she said to the other God girls and Bianca and Bliss nodded in agreement.
"Yes we can save her and that's exactly what we're going to do," Bianca assured Becky.
Hunter was not as hopeful, "You better hope you get your hands on her before I do girls, nobody hijacks my show, especially if they're a McMahon," Hunter said and the God girls nodded that they would.
"Don't worry Hunter," Becky said putting her arm around the Game, "I'm about to make a deal that will bring all of us one step closer from getting rid of the McMahon family once and for all,"
"We like the sound of that," Shawn said, "but if history has taught us anything, its that taking down Stephanie McMahon is no easy task. After what went down tonight, you girls better know what you're doing,"
The Way left with DX while the God girls got into a huddle, "Let's go see the Boss, if this is going to work, we're going to need a little Blue Thunder backup," Becky Lynch said and Bianca and Bliss listened to the Man's plan to take down Stephanie McMahon once and for all.
