A/N: So... I'm not SUPER happy with the way this chapter came out. I feel like it wrote out WAYYY cheesier than what I had originally envisioned but... my brain was being an ass today and nothing else would come forth. Heh. Go figure. Hopefully it's not as terrible as my mind's portraying it out to be. If it is however, here's a cookie for sticking with me *hands out cookies*
Anyway, I know it's been a REALLYYYYY long time since I last updated this fic (or anything for that matter), but alas... my muse seems to be working again for these old story lines lol. Just like with Knight's Love, I don't know if I'll finish this fic just because it's been so long and I know most of my reader's from this story (and KL) have moved on. So. With all that being said, I'm going to try my best to finish BOTH of these fics, though I am willing to pursue one over the other should one obviously get more attention. But only y'all can decide that. So if you love one fic more, plz let me know! Thanks so much for your patience and understanding!
~ V
The trio stood speechless after the queen's introductions. The queen's light brown eyes landed on Rico's bubbly form and she smiled to him.
"Why, Rico," she crooned to the bird-like dino. "How can I thank you for bringing my travelers here safely?"
The small creature blushed, his feathers ruffling around his neck. "Oh. It was nothing, Your Highness."
Queen Kona chuckled and dismissed the youngling. She laid her eyes upon Kitt and Michael. The former clearly was wary of her presence, seeing as how he was maintaining a defensive stance over the human. He's loyal, she thought. Excellent. Just what I need.
"Who are you?" Michael asked. The glaring Rex gave a small hiss.
"Excuse my rudeness, but who and what I am are of no importance at the moment." The elegant queen explained as she sat back down in her throne. "I have a mission for the both of you. A mission that could set you both free from this world, should you complete it."
The pair shared a skeptical look. "What's the mission?" Kitt inquired.
The queen smiled. "I have an. . . enemy of sorts. He does nothing but bring terror to my lands. I want him stopped. Only problem is I can not destroy this monster myself."
"But you're the Queen." Michael put in. "You're obviously powerful enough. Order your armies or whatever to take this guy out."
Queen Kona gave a small glare at Michael's bluntness. "As much as I'd love nothing more than to do just that, I cannot. Unfortunately, a curse was placed on my bloodline years ago. This curse took away my ability to engage in any form of battle, per se. So now I use this time stone," she pointed to the object in the center of her crown. "To bring me worthy warriors."
"So you want us to fight your battles basically." Kitt summarized. The queen nodded. Michael held his hand up.
"Wait, just what are we going to be fighting here? You're going to have to explain yourself a little bit better. We're not just going to risk our lives blindly." Michael told her. Kitt gave a low rumble in agreement.
"Very well." The woman said. "The enemy you will be fighting is known as Deimos. He lives up to his name in every way. He will stop at nothing until he takes control of these lands-"
A sharp roar echoed throughout the land, interrupting the queen. Her gaze widened as she stared at the mouth of the cave. Pure terror flooded her gaze.
"That's him!" She hissed. "That's the beast! He knows you're here!"
Kitt snarled and turned, his mighty frame acting as a barrier as it loosely wrapped around Michael. Michael tensed, not quite sure how to handle this. From the sounds of it, the creature was definitely a dino. At least the size of Kitt if not a little bigger. The man knew he wouldn't stand a chance against something like that, but he'd be damned it he left his partner to face this foe alone.
The ground began to tremble as faint thumping could be heard.
"He's coming!" Queen Kona cried. "Be ready, my friends!"
Not seconds after the Queen shouted her warning, a dark shadow grew in mass as the owner entered the cave. A deep rumbling growl echoed off the cave walls and reverberated in Michael's chest. Kitt tensed beside him, a low rumble trembling in his chest. With a loud roar, their foe came into view...
A giant burgundy Spinosaurus with black tiger striping all over his frame and sail. His long razor sharp claws were as big as Michael's torso and his lengthy head held a maw full of equally sharp pointy teeth. He let loose another roar when he spotted them and picked up his gate. As he grew closer, it became alarmingly clear the Spino was way larger than Kitt. The Spino charged. Michael ducked back out of the way as Kitt met him mid bite. His smaller frame did little to apprehend the large beast, but it got him off Michael's tail. The Rex's mouth clamped tightly down on the Spino's top jaw. Blood soon dripped down Kitt's maw and trailed down his neck to drip to the ground below. The burgundy beast roared in pain and began to thrash about wildly in an attempt to dislodge the Rex. Kitt only tightened his hold further and went with the Spino's blows as best he could.
This, Kitt soon found out, was not a good idea.
The Spino let loose a blood curling roar. He swung his mighty head into the cave wall nearest to him repeatedly. It wasn't long before Kitt soon started feeling things creak and snap that shouldn't be. His own blood was now smeared all across the cave wall and dripping to the floor. Another hard blow and this time, Kitt couldn't hold back his cry of pain as something snapped and a warm feeling flooded his side. The black and ruby Rex crumpled in the pathetic pool of blood. He winced at the rough landing and blinked sluggishly as the Spino dismissed his presence and began sauntering over to where Michael was struggling to get to higher ground.
Kitt's eyes narrowed and a growl ripped from his throat. He willed his damaged and sore body to rise. No way was he going to allow Michael to die.
The Spino reared his ugly head over Michael's form. The man's eyes widened. He darted off to the side just as those powerful jaws clamped down on where he was previously standing. The Spino was clearly unhappy about biting air, so he whirled around for another go only to be knocked off his feet by a black and ruby blur. The two dinos tumbled until eventually the Spino was able to right himself and hold the upper position. He started biting and tearing at anything within reach. Kitt roared out in agony as his torso was torn apart.
Michael was frantic.
"You have to do something! He's going to kill him!" He shouted to the Queen, who was huddled behind the safety of her thrown. Her glance was apologetic.
"I, myself can't do anything to aid you, Michael." She told him sorrowfully. Then a new look of determination crossed her features. "But I can do this."
With a twirl of her fingers, Michael was swept up in a golden light. He felt his limbs grow and enlarge. His frame grew even taller and lengthier than before. His skin hardened and became encased in thousands of tiny riveting scales. Michael's senses became ten times better than they ever were. When the light died out, a human no longer stood there, but another T-Rex. This one was taller than Kitt and was of an earthy brown color, with rich dark brown markings all along his body. His eyes were of a steel blue in color and his claws were a sharp ebony black.
The new Rex let loose a mighty, ground-shaking roar and charged the Spino. The Spino looked up at the sound of the newcomer. His maw was painted red from Kitt's blood. The sight of the poor Rex only supercharged Michael's fury. His pupils narrowed to pinpricks and he charged the Spino. With a swift and well timed jerk of his head, Michael was able to deal a very lucky strike. His jaws clamped down hard on the softest part of the Spinos head; right behind the ears where the spinal cord connected to the brain. The tissue crumpled like hot butter under his powerful bite force. The Spino screamed in pain and came crashing to the ground in a mighty earthquake. Michael still held the powerful beast in his jaws for a few minutes longer, blood draining out of his mouth from the lethal bite just delivered. It wasn't until a small whimper of pain was heard from behind him did Michael finally allow the Spino's head to drop limply to the ground. Michael wasted no time in getting to his best friend's side.
Kitt wasn't in good shape. The smaller Rex appeared to have fallen unconscious due to the blood loss. He had somehow managed to roll back over to his belly during the battle to help protect himself. The pool of blood was now almost covering Michael's claws on his bottom feet. Kitt had deep bleeding gashes all over his once gleaming frame. Most were only bleeding sluggishly thankfully, but there were a few that were far too deep to stop anytime soon. Michael's heart gave a painful tug in his chest when he finished surveying all the damage done. Lowering his muzzle, he gave the softest of nudges to his friend in hopes of rousing him.
He was rewarded with two ruby red eyes blinking open at him. There was a moment of slight apprehension before something must've clicked and his gaze widened a little.
"M-Michael? Is that you? What... happened?" The smaller Rex looked about and cringed slightly at the sight of the body not too far from where he lay. He only remembered snippets before he had blacked out from a combination of blood loss and the intense pain.
"It's me, pal. It's all over now." The bigger brown Rex curled around Kitt protectively, his head resting above Kitt's. "Just take a breather, buddy. You did good."
Kitt's only response was a soft sigh as he once more allowed his ruby red eyes to close, feeling safe in his partner's embrace for the time being. Footsteps suddenly echoed off the cave walls, but a figure couldn't be spotted due to the heavy shadows. Michael growled out a warning, his steel blue eyes blazing. His body tightening around his charge instinctively.
"Settle," a familiar female voice murmured as she came into view. "It is only I."
Michael's growl faded in his throat to a low rumbling purr as he regarded the Queen skeptically. The adrenaline was still very much running hot and he wasn't about to take any chances that this could've somehow all been a trap to finish them off. Michael knew he may have been thinking a bit irrationally, but with Kitt down and not able to fight... he had feasible reason to worry and overthink things.
"What do you want?" The brown Rex asked a bit heatedly. Queen Kona however, didn't seem to mind.
"To pay up my half of the deal." She said and made a weird gesture with her hands.
Michael only had a second to gasp in surprise before a blinding light swooped his vision.
Just in case any of you cared, here's a TEENY TINY info dump. Brought to you by Google and a bit of my own knowledge back from middle school when I had to study Greek mythology for a bit lol XD
Deimos: Pronounced, "DEE-mos," which means "dread." He was known as the god of dread and terror in ancient Greek mythology.
Hope you enjoyed the super late update my lovelies! If any of you would feel kind enough to voice your thoughts on what I mentioned above in the disclaimer, or just what you thought of this chappie, I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks again for reading and I hope you all have an amazing day!
