POV: Third Person
When Lux came back out of the station, he groaned at what he saw. People. People everywhere, with their phones out, recording him and the other Pokémon. Normally, he'd be alright with being on camera, because he's given up shooing people. Now, he was frustrated. Don't they have any sense of self preservation? he thought.
He didn't want people hurt during the battle in the streets, so he sent a message to the crowd surrounding Charlie and the Beartic. "Please get away, guys. We can't guarantee your safety, and I don't know how much damage we'll cause. If you value your life, just get out of the area. If you feel like dying, Just stand there to record being either frozen or charred or worse".
Thankfully, all but a select few took off after that. Some stragglers remained, but Lux couldn't do anything about it. "I warned you..." he sighed. Then turned to Charlie. 'You sure you're up for this'.
'As much as you are' Charlie said. 'Besides, you just told them a fire type would be letting loose.' His mouth glowed red. 'Can't really ditch you now and ruin the show, Can I?'.
"Small talk? Right before a fight to the death?" the duo heard from the beartic across from them. He puffed on his claws and had enveloped his claws in a thick layer of Ice, a duffle bag hanging from a shoulder. "You should be focusing on the one coming for your heads!" he yelled as he waved his arms, throwing an [Icy wind] at them.
Lux reacted by dodging to the side, and Charlie used an [Ember] to power through the Ice-type attack. It plowed right through the chilling wave of air, then made contact with another wall of Ice the freezing Pokémon made to protect himself. Wow, Charlie thought. I guess type advantages do work. After blocking the attack, the Beartic shatters the remains of the ice wall and hurls the now attack at Charlie.
Charlie tried to dodge the [Icicle Spear], but got scathed on the shoulder and neck. Thankfully, only a couple of deep cuts. He definitely felt the freezing pain from the small cuts, but the ice coming off of the wounds were melted away in a few seconds. Even with type advantage, these things still sting!
While Charlie backed away to check himself, Lux dashed to the Beartic and started trading blows while trying to block some of them. He would swing [Slash] and [Mega Punch] consecutively, but Lux would dodge using [Detect] then attempt to attack with a [Metal Claw] or [Rock Smash]. The Ice Bear would block with a thick wall of Ice and attempt to swing it's Ice-covered claws at Lux, forcing him to back up before dashing back at him. This went on for a few minutes. Blow after blow, Lux running circles around the Beartic, looking to get a hit in. Likewise, Charlie was looking for an opening, but the Freezing Pokémon acknowledges him and sends another wave of [Icicle Spear] before he could get the chance to attack.
Lux slides to Charlie after being blown away again. 'Agh,' Lux said between breaths. 'This's getting nowhere! I can't land a good hit on him'. He turned to Charlie, 'Got any ideas?'
'We could attack him in two directions, but I might hit you if he tries to dodge anything' Charlie says. 'Maybe you focus on hand-to-ha-er...paw-to-paw combat while I back you up from a distance'.
'That sounds like I'll be covered in cuts and bruises and maybe burns by the end of this...' Lux looked at their opponent, who was currently eyeing the duo with the ice still covering his claws. '...but he looks like he hasn't tired out yet, surprisingly. Ugh, I've got no better Ideas, so let's just get this over with'.
Lux activates [Extreme Speed] and makes it to the Beartic's backside. He was able to land a [Rock Smash] on his back before the Freezing Pokémon retaliates with a [Slash]. As Lux backed away from the attack Charlie hit the Bear using a flurry of [Embers]. They receive a roar of pain before they both get blown away by a [Blizzard]. Both Lux and Charlie got hit and Ice started forming around their wounds as they were thrown back. Charlie just waited for his natural heat to melt it off while Lux just powered through the pain.
As the three Pokémon recovered from the short but taxing assault, the Beartic spoke up. "I can see that you two can't keep this up. How about you walk away and I'll forgive you for getting in my way". As he addressed them, he kneeled down and opened up the duffle bag he carried.
Lux put a paw below his snout, as If thinking about his arrangement, which concerned Charlie and put a grin on the Beartic's face. 'Hmmmmm, fat chance' Now it was Charlie who was smiling, and the bear had a frown. 'You're in a similar, if not, worse state than both of us. I don't plan on giving up when we're close to kicking your ass. Besides, I sorta promised I'd do it as well, so that's a no from me. Charlie?'.
Charlie growled at their foe. 'Likewise'.
The beartic scowled at the two while he looked for something in the bag of his. "I thought you would say something like that, but I didn't want to kill you kids too...".
'Says the guy who was strangling a girl not even ten minutes ago, I call bull!' Charlie snarled.
Lux noticed an intense anger from the Legendary Pokémon, but thought it was justified. He's the righteous kind of guy, of course he'd get pissed. He's already murdered people, now he wants to take pity on us? What a hypocrite.
The Beartic, ignoring Charlie, rose from his kneeling position with some kind of mechanism around his paws from the bag. "Ah well, might as well try this thing out. Should help me get through this".
The machinery wrapped around the entirety of his left paw. The gauntlet glowed a light blue, then glowed brighter. Once the Beartic pointed it in the duo's direction, Large Icicles started forming above them. As he brought his gauntlet down, he sent the four [Icycle Crashes] crashing down on the two Pokémon.
Both Charlie and Lux noticed and were able to dodge the attacks in good shape. Unfortunately, the Beartic had sent a [Blizzard] in the direction of the duo a second later. They were unable to block or dodge this attack and took the full brunt of it. Charlie was flung about 60 feet away, crashing back into the station. Lux was pushed away too, but he held on to a lamppost nearby. He felt his limbs stiffen from the freezing temperatures of the attack.
Shit, lux thought. He sent all that with a swing of an arm? What's with that gauntlet? He took cover from the Freezing Pokémon and surveyed his surroundings. Already, there were several buildings either destroyed or covered in snow and Ice. Those spectators were still there, but they had taken cover in buildings that haven't been destroyed. All I have to do Is make sure he doesn't use anymore of those crazy attacks. Hm, I guess I should prepare for rounds 2... After being unable to find where Charlie flew off to, he used [Life Dew] on himself and went off to fight close range again.
POV: Charlie
Police Station
'Urgh...' I groaned as I got up. I crashed into the main lobby of the police station, onto the stairs that lead to the second floor. Any walls between my point of contact with that [Blizzard] and where I'm at now was left an arcanine-sized hole. My cuts were actually frozen as well, but they started melting when I looked closer at them.
I really needed to get back to the fight, so I got up and made my way to the hole I came from. Before I could actually go through that hole, I heard screaming. "Help!" A familiar voice said. That was the girl from earlier! I thought.
I looked back in the direction of the Beartic and Lux. He has 2 type advantages. He should be fine, right? I heard more screaming, so I decided that Lux could handle himself while I checked out what the hell was going on over there.
Well, I made about a few steps down the stairs before I stopped again. There she was, the screaming girl, running in my direction from the main entrance. Behind her, were armed men in masks. Three of them. Sounds familiar, especially with the rifles in their hands, but there were a few differences between them and the rogues. They wore animal masks. A racoon, a rat, and a beaver. Also they were fewer in numbers, but all three of them just became my problem.
The girl, whom I know as Lydia 'cause of the nametag, took cover under the reception desk just in time to avoid a barrage of bullets from the masked men. She started screaming again, then took notice of me. "Please, Arcanine. Help me!". She still had the blue vial in her hands, undamaged and unused. Thank god. Last thing we need is another Pokémon running around.
Once she called out to me, the men took notice of me. They sort of just stood there for a moment for reasons I can't say. Confusion? Yeah, I'm Arcanine. Excitement? Yeah, I'm an Arcanine. Fear? Yeah, I'm an Arcanine.
I charged an attack in my jaws while I jumped off the stairway onto the floor in front of them. Two of them backed away, but the other had pointed his rifle and started firing in my direction. Before he even pulled the trigger, I dashed to the side with [Extreme Speed] then used [Fire Fang] on my attacker's arm.
Now, I only meant to shake his arm so he'd lose his grip on the gun. What I didn't mean to do was roast his limb while practically using his body like a dog with a chew toy. Oh no! I forgot I'm tons stronger! I dropped his arm and he was flung into the wall beside me. Thankfully, he was still breathing and his clothes weren't on fire. Only thing to do now was to deal with the other two... who had their guns pointed at me. Shit.
The moment they pulled the trigger, I used [Extreme Speed] again and dashed down behind the desk Lydia hid behind. Once they emptied out their mags, I heard one of them call out to the other. "Don't get near them right now. I don't want to end up like Beaver, so we should just keep our barrels pointed at the desk. We can wait for the Beartic to finish his fight, then he can help us with the Arcanine".
"Roger that, Racoon" The other voice said. "Uh, what should we do with Beaver?".
I heard an exaggerated sigh. "Just... Make sure he's alive".
Now that I knew they wouldn't rush us, I started to come up with a way to get out of this. So...they were chasing Lydia, and now I've saved her 'cause I was thrown this way. I sigh, If only she could understand me, then I could tell her how we'd get out of here. I couldn't really communicate like everyone else did, I could just project emotions... Emotions... Oooh!
I turn my head to Lydia, who flinched at the sudden movement. I can just gesture, with emotions included, to give her the idea. I do my best to point to her, then my back, then the hole I came through. I gave off the feeling of urgency, then she got the Idea. "You want me to ride you, then we go out through that hole, right?" She asked in a whisper. I nod my head.
"Is that where the Lucario Lux is? Is he fighting that bear thing?" I gave her another nod. "Hm, I don't want to get blown to bits, but that doesn't sound any better...".
"And that sounds a little weird, riding you..." I blushed at this. Oh god, that sounds wrong. "But If it means not getting shot, then I'm okay with it".
I lowered myself so she could get on my back. "I'm going to hang on tight" Lydia said. "I saw how fast you were, so I don't want to get blown away". I nod in approval, then I felt her grip the skin under my fur, which sort of hurt with all of my cuts. I ignore the discomfort, then use [Extreme Speed]. The masked men didn't even register what happened until I was long gone.
POV: Lydia
What a day... I thought as I hopped onto the Arcanine's back. Strangled by a Beartic, Saved by a Lucario, and rescued by this Arcanine. An hour ago, and I'd never believe you no matter what you'd tell me. As he got up, I warned him and braced myself for the impossible speeds this dog would be going at. In just a few seconds we made it to a frozen street I assumed was where Lux and the Beartic were currently fighting in.
Well, they weren't fighting anymore. I thought that was weird, since the Beartic was so dangerous from the get-go. As I looked closer, I started wondering If I was better off with the masked men.
Right now, the beartic was kneeling, putting away something in that duffle bag he carried. He had a lot of cuts and a few visible bruises, but he looked fine regardless. As he got up, my eyes drifted to Lux. His situation was... not desirable.
The jackal was Frozen. Not anything minor, either. He was encased in a thick layer of Ice. At a glance, it was probably a 10 feet wide mound of Ice. He looked as If he was dodging another attack, except his eyes were closed for whatever reason. When I looked closer, I noticed as many cuts and bruises as the Beartic had.
I got off of the Arcanine, wordless at what I was looking at. The Arcanine was in shock as well. The Pokémon that had saved me, the one that made the Beartic look defeatable, was defeated himself. I was scared, and I think the Arcanine was too, but I couldn't tell because any feelings he was sending me were nothing to my own fear. He was a Pokémon, he could protect himself. I was a human, and I didn't have any weapons to fight that thing. I was useless in this fight, and I was scared of what would happen to me.
The Freezing Pokémon sighed as he turned to us. "You know, I warned him" he said as he pointed a claw at the Frozen Lux. "He didn't even stop joking and struggling around in his desperate state. Even when his limbs gave out to the cold, he didn't stop flailing around until he was encased". I noticed the Arcanine beside me getting angrier and angrier as he talked. The Beartic put his hips to his sides. "This is why kids shouldn't be playing hero. Leave it to the adults".
Any fear that the Legendary Pokémon had was gone, replaced with hate for the Bear. He started snarling and saying different sequences of "Arc-an-ine". Even If I didn't understand shit, I could tell that the little rant angered the Beartic. "You should keep your mouth shut, kid. Unless you want to be a dog-cicle like your pal here, you should pipe down like an obedient pup". The Arcanine responded with what I think was a snarky remark, before his jaws were glowing again.
The next second, the dog disappeared and reappeared in front of the Beartic. With barely any time to respond, he could only put up a thin wall of Ice to protect himself. A large pillar of Flames came out of the Arcanine's mouth, punched through the Ice, and smashed into the Bear, sending him a good 30 feet. If I had to guess, I'd say that last attack was [Flamethrower].The arcanine stood by his Frozen friend with a smile on his face, happy that he got a powerful attack on his foe. His victory was short lived though, as a barrage of small droplets of water were thrown from the Bears direction. It hit the Legendary Pokémon in his shoulder and lower body, then he dropped to the ground.
As the Arcanine was struggling to get up, the Beartic made his way over to me. "I've got to thank you, kid" he said as he grabbed my neck again and walked over to the Incapacitated Pokémon. "I never would have Learned [Brine] until you hit me with some fire. Just needed to get a little warmer. I might have even lost If you put a little more force into your attack". He ground his foot on the Arcanine's neck. "Too bad, looks like that's all you've got".
He turned to me. "Now, I think I should do something special just for you" He used his other paw to yank the blue vial from my hands. "You're the reason I had to deal with these two. You're the reason I've wasted time at this station getting my paws dirtier by the minute". He knelt down to his bag and brought out some kind of syringe thing. Once the Arcanine saw this, he upped his struggles, but failed to do anything once the Bear pushed down harder. "And now... " The Freezing Pokémon said as he loaded the vial into the syringe gun thing. "... You will end up like us".
Before I could react to that last part, he stuck the thing right into my stomach. As the fluid went into my body, I could feel the pain forming and steadil-
Everything went silent as I heard a loud CRACK coming from the mound. I heard it, the Arcanine heard it, everyone heard it. The Beartic stopped his little monologue to look for the source. Another CRACK echoed through the street, and I saw the Lucario with his eyes now open. I think they were glowing.
The CRACK noises were getting louder, and were becoming the gaps between each noise was getting smaller and smaller. The Beartic looked to the mound, hoping to find a still-frozen Lucario. He turned right on time. Everything was silent compared to the loud noises coming from the Ice mound. The next moment, the Ice exploded, sending chunks everywhere. One particularly large piece landed on the Bear's shoulder, who dropped me at the impact. Another second later, I saw the familiar blue figure in front of me, charging a ball of energy on one of his paws. He lunges forward and connects the move to the freezing Pokémon's chest. As he flies away, Lux's body glows before he disappears again.
He suddenly reappears behind the beartic and smacks him back towards a building. Lux follows his opponent as he flew across the street, attacking the Ice bear before he could even touch the ground. The beartic summons all of his strength and flings an [Icicle Crash] at Lux while he flew. The Aura Pokémon sidesteps the attack, vanishing yet again. Lux intercepts the Beartic's course with an axe kick with one of his glowing legs. His opponent is pounded into the ground, leaving a crater from the impact. The freezing pokemon stopped moving shortly after. A Lucario, panting heavily, stood over the Ice-type looking almost as bad as his foe.
As he caught his breath, he looked back at the Arcanine and I. He dashed towards us, then sent a violet colored wave from his body. I felt the growing pain in my stomach subside for a moment, and I could see all of the Legendary Pokémon's wounds closing up. After that, the Lucario's paw glowed green and started dripping some kind of substance. He dropped it on himself, and it had the same effect as the wave did on his ally. He sent the rest of the liquid on us, and the Arcanine looked as If it never had it's battle with the Beartic.
Lux began to look around, taking in the scene. He looked up to a news helicopter and groaned. He looked to the Beartic, and picked up his duffle bag and equipment. Then he turned to us again, and noticed the empty vial on the floor and the syringe. He made a concerned expression as he pieced everything together. "Were you injected?!"
"Y-Yeah, Here" I point to my stomach. "Why? Is it bad?". I knew it was something bad, but I didn't know the details. That, and Lux's sudden concern, scared me.
"Oh god, we need to get you to a hospital!" I heard a bark of approval from my left followed by a small line of dialogue I couldn't understand. "Alright then. Lydia, get on Charlie's back again. We're using [Extreme Speed] to get there as fast as possible. Do your best to not let go, Alright?"
I got on the Arcanine's back, whom I know know is Charlie. Before I could even respond, I saw my surroundings blur and I held on for dear life. Not even a second later, and the pain in my stomach became much worse. Soon, it became unbearable and I started screaming from the agony. I lost consciousness sometime after that.
