"We can finally get a good night's rest." Asami yawned, "I'm tired of delivering speeches all day for the last 2 weeks."

"Weren't you excited? You're… the president… now!" said Bolin, who had obviously drank too much champagne.

"Well yes and no," replied the new president of United Republic, "we're going to be real busy real soon." She had already changed her formal attires into a much cozier outfit, "I'm actually fine with that. What I can't stand is all of the formalities."

"Korra can do all the doublespeak for you." Mako suggested, sipping on his glass of champagne, "she can talk like a lawyer."

"You've almost forgot that I'm a triad boss, didn't you?" the waterbender laughed, "no, I can't be in the eyes of the public, yet."

"The crimes been down these days. What are you going to do with your association?"

"I quit." Korra said, little did the bothers know it was her righthand man who took over the business, the triads were still practically in her control, "Ryu is now in charge of my business. Lin will never have the chance to find any evidence." She insisted on staying sober, alcohol doesn't mix well with a Southern Water Tribe gut, as she often said. "You two will be the face of the new government. With my skillset, I will be more useful in the United Forces. Asami, how do you plan to manage Future Industry at the same time?" She looked to the nonbender's direction.

"It can practically run autonomously. So, I wouldn't have to work for two jobs at the same time." The new president responded, "The only downside would be not being to play with the machineries, but I wouldn't be actually missing it while engineering new weapons for the United Forces." She smiled, "we can't afford to let the Earth Republic catching up."

"Did Raiko call you?" Bolin seemed to recall the matter at the last minute.

"Nope."

"Ruuuude… you won the election!" the earthbender complained, before he passed out on the couch.

At the Air Temple Island, Councilman Tenzin was in much displease with the results: "I voted against the election because Republic City is built on the compromise between Lord Zuko and Earth King Kuai. These people seem to forget the condition that the United Republics is only allowed to stay autonomous under the Council of Five." He twisted his eyebrows, face looking stern, "now we are offering the Earth Republic the perfect excuse for an outright invasion!" The United Republics weren't on the best terms with the newly founded Earth Republic due to the former's failed attempt at restoring Monarchy through Prince Wu. Since then, the Earth Republic had enforced a series of isolationistic policies, withholding its natural resources, the essential raw material for the manufacturing industries, from the United Republics. "our economy has already suffered enough. Spirits know what would happen now we're having a new president."

"Don't worry about that," Lin said, drinking her soup, "I doubt Suyin would do anything crazy. My sister wasn't granted the title of 'Great Uniter' for her stupidity, you know." She moved onto the vegetarian dishes on the dinner table. There was barely any protein or fat in it, but still better than nothing. The chief of police hasn't been eaten for nearly 2 days on patrol to ensure the safety of the election. Once it is over, she had to deliver her concern to Tenzin as fast as possible, "What you should pay attention though, is the president. I don't like her; I have a bad feeling about this."

"What exactly are you talking about?" confused, the airbending master raised his eyebrows.

"It's not that simple, I mean, I don't think she's putting everything onto the table." The police chief quickly ravaged her food, and moved onto business, "I think she has far more influence than she presents, a mastermind of some sort behind all of these. Look, everything about her is timed perfectly. I mean, just after Amon being exposed, the Equalists immediately stopped attacking benders instead turn their focus onto the triads. I wouldn't doubt one bit she has something to do with it."

"You think Lieutenant is a puppet, in fact she's new leader of the Equalists?"

"I'm not sure about that, but I do question her true motive working with them. Anyway, that's not all, why would she be running for the president anyway? If her goal is solely to stop the triads, she has the Equalists and the Future Industry behind her, she wouldn't need to be the president of United Republics. I mean, expanding National Defence and the RCPD? That's gonna to cost a ton of tax money. What she promised in her speeches are only going to hurt her profits, it doesn't add up."

"What could possibly be her goal then?"

"I wouldn't know. The only thing I'm certain is that she's playing a big game. I wouldn't be surprised if she makes some radical changes to the government." Lin said.

"I never thought you are such a natural at politics." Tenzin was genuinely impressed by the metalbender's analytic ability.

"I gotta bounce now, don't wanna to raise any suspicion." She stood up, "as far as the public is concerned, we aren't on the best terms. Good luck." and rushed out of the door.
