It's April 2nd! Yesterday, I uploaded an joke chapter, which I have deleted, so this Is the actual update I promised. According to my traffic graph, only ten people saw the joke chapter, but you're not really missing out on anything if you missed it. Again, sorry it took so long.
"What?" Black was not expecting Platinum to tell him that Yellow was dead.
"It's a guess, but I think the murderer was trying to separate Yellow and me so they could kill us." Platinum elaborated.
"They certainly attempted on my life."
"And we are the two biggest suspects." Black deduced.
"I have a plan though, I can vouch for you since I know where you were when the killing likely took place." She explained.
"But what about you?" He asked.
"I know the times for when I disappeared and was knocked unconscious, but her murder was probably attempted after mine. We can't vouch for each other, but I can prove my innocence." She started.
"How?"
"This room is locked, right? You have the only key, and it hasn't been moved. Therefore, I haven't been out of this room." She continued.
"Smart."
"However, there is a chance that her death will be more recent."
"Huh?" Black was lost.
"She could be trapped and about to be killed. It's too late to save her; the murder probably has full control of this place, but they could be waiting so that they could pin the murder on me. So, you need to keep me locked in this room. Meet with the others, tell them 'I took a nap and cleared my head, sorry for before,' and don't let me out of this room until after you find Yellow's body." She finished.
"I think I got it." Black said.
"Most importantly, don't tell anyone about our plan, or that you saw me, even after you let me out. Only tell them when I ask you to. Got it?"
"Yes mam!" Black did a little salute before laughing. He told her goodbye and left the room, locking it again.
Black walked down the hall that led to the basement. There were a few other rooms besides the one he had stayed in. The rooms were meant for servants, so they were like mini apartments. They had a bedroom, bathroom, and a kitchen. When the Old Chateau was built, most places did not allow servants to dine or live in the same wing as the owners.
Black left the hall to enter the west wing. There was a garden in the middle of the chateau that connected to the north, east, south, and west wings. He had just left the smallest wing, the east wing. The south wing was the entrance and kitchen, the east wing was for the servants and basement access, the north wing was rooms for the residents and guests, and the west wing was for entertainment. It was in the garden he had run into the search team.
"Hey guys!" Black yelled.
"Black!" Blue yelled.
"Where have you been?"
"I'm sorry about before. It's just, White was my best friend, and I was really upset. I found her burnt-up hat, and I ran into a room, crying. I fell asleep, and that refreshed me and cleared my head. I realized I can be upset, but I shouldn't put everyone else in danger because of it." Black apologized.
"It's fine, we understand." Ruby said. The group caught him up on what had been happening and gave him the choice of staying with the search team or going with the defense team.
"I think I'll stay with you guys."
'I have a better chance of finding Yellow with these guys.' Black thought.
"So, we've searched the south wing and west wing, and we are about to search the east wing. You just came from the east wing. Find anyone?" Y asked.
"No," Black lied, "I wasn't really searching for anyone but you guys."
"Fine, but I don't trust you." Pearl said. He had been standing off to the side and had decided to chime in at that moment. He still held a grudge against Black for threatening Diamond.
"Be nice Pearl, he already apologized. You would probably act the same as him if someone was with Platinum, but only she died." Blue reasoned.
"Don't say that! Missy is still missing!" Pearl yelled.
"She's fine. She probably got lost or something. I have a feeling she will probably escape death if it comes for her." Y said, being pretty accurate.
'I have to be careful of her. Death did come for Platinum, and she did escape it.' Black thought wide-eyed.
"Your feeling isn't enough to calm me down." Pearl mocked Y.
"My feelings are dead-on most of the time." Y rebutted.
"Well, what's your feeling about our situation?" Pearl asked, not believing her. Suddenly Y's eyes fell downcast.
"Not a good one. I don't know who will survive, but I have a feeling not too many. Probably eight or less..." Y trailed off, "but let's hope my feeling is wrong this time!" The mood darkened after Y's words.
"W-Well, I still don't believe your feelings." Pearl said, trying to lighten the mood. The group arrived in the east wing. They searched around but didn't find much. That was until they arrived at the room Platinum was in.
"Huh, it's locked?" Blue examined.
"None of the other doors were locked." Y pointed out.
"Let's knock it down!" Pearl said, impatient.
"No, let's not." Ruby sighed.
"I think it's fine to leave it alone." Black muttered. Ruby called out to see if anyone was trapped in the room, but there was no response.
"I have a feeling we should just leave it alone." Y said.
"Fine, but not because of your feeling." Pearl replied. The group continued on into the basement.
"Woah, what happened here." Ruby asked.
"Nothing good." Blue added.
"It looks like the support beam fell, and it took some of the ceiling with it." Black observed. Obviously, he already knew how and why this happened, but he decided it would be best to add to the conversation. The group examined the basement more, but they didn't find anything noteworthy, other than the fact that some of the rubble was wet.
After leaving the east wing, they headed to the north wing. They searched the master bedroom, the children's rooms, and most of the guest rooms. Nobody was found.
"I don't think we will be able to find anyone." Y said.
"How? We've checked pretty much everywhere." Blue asked
"The only thing I could think of is secret passageways or the missing people moved at the same time as us, moving from a place we haven't been, to a place we already passed." Ruby explained.
"So, we have to go back and look at places we've already been?" Pearl inquired.
"Yep."
"That sucks."
The search team passed a door that had a note on it. The note read:
"Hello, I assume this is the search team or one of the missing people. In this room is the defense team. Please do not enter unless there is an emergency or all of the missing people have been found. This is to ensure everyone's safety. The door is locked, but there is a key on the floor to the left.
Sincerely,
The defense team."
"Yeah right, what about our safety?" Pearl complained.
"We gave up our safety when we volunteered for this job. Someone should have paid attention~!" Blue sang.
"Whatever." The group checked the rest of the hall.
"As expected, nothing. There is only one hall left with five rooms. I don't think we're finding anyone." Ruby said.
"What the hell!? We gave up our safety to search for people, and we don't find anyone!" Pearl yelled.
"Uh, you found me?" Black asked the statement as a question.
"What does that even mean?" Y asked.
"I meant, you found me, I was missing." Black clarified.
"No I wasn't talking about...," she trailed off, "never mind."
"Uhh, okay."
The group walked into one of the rooms.
"Aaaaauuh!" Ruby jumped. In the room was Yellow. She wasn't alive.
"No..." Blue's eyes filled with tears. Yellow's neck had been slit, and she hung from the wall by a pair of scissors stabbed through her hand. Everyone's eyes were filled with shock, except for Black.
"Y-You don't seem to be too shocked Black." Y observed.
"I-I am. I guess I'm just more horrified than shocked." This was mostly true. After a moment of silence, Y walked up to Yellow and felt her hand.
"It's kind of warm. I think she was killed recently." Y said upset.
"That might help us find the murderer. Thanks, Y. For now, we should meet up with the defense team." Ruby muttered
"Everyone settled in?" Green asked. The defense team of eight people was in a relatively small room. Green had just stuck the note to the door for the search team and locked it.
"We're locked in here, but there is a bathroom, as I assume you can see." Green pointed out.
"What about food or medicine?" Moon asked.
"We'll get that as needed. Hopefully, the search team will be back by then, and then a group of four will get whatever we need." Moon nodded, satisfied.
The group waited for about two hours. The room was mostly quiet the entire time. No one had anything to say, and they wanted to reflect on their situation. Nobody spoke of who they believed to be the murder in fear they will be targeted next. By now, most of the dexholders have accepted that there is a murder and a lot of them will be killed. Most of them just hoped it wouldn't be them or any of their close friends.
The most exciting things that happened in the two hours were that a few people had short naps, and when they heard the search team pass by.
All of the sudden, X made a weird noise before collapsing to the floor, dead. Everyone turned to him shocked.
"Gasp!" Moon yelled. Then, all eyes were on her. X's death had been overshadowed by the fact that Moon had said the word "gasp" instead of actually gasping.
"I can't believe you." Sun shook his head.
"Back on track, how did X die?" Crystal asked. She walked up to him and touched his body.
"Ow!" She yelled. X's body had electrocuted her. She told everyone that she'd be back before walking into the bathroom. She came back with rubber gloves. She turned X's body over, and immediately found the cause of death.
"Someone shot him with a modified stun gun from under the door." Crystal explained.
"That explains the electrocution." Red said. Just then, they heard the door rattle before the search team barged into the room.
"We have bad news! Ye-" Ruby stopped mid-sentence. The search team saw X's body.
"No, two more of our friends, dead." Y covered her mouth with her hand.
Finally, this chapter is published! So, as you might know, I've written ahead a little for this story, but because I've delayed recent chapters for many reasons, I had ended up writing this chapter several months ahead (I wrote this in December, I believe, and it is now April). I might be a little slower with the next update because I'm still working on chapter 10, even though I started writing it in January.
Also, about Y's "feeling" thing. I know it doesn't make a lot of sense, but I just added it in to spice up her character (and it's fun to write). I hope your having a nice day, and I'll upload the next chapter soon (hopefully).
