Five Days Later:
A rainstorm had trapped everyone (Goku, Chi-Chi, Gohan, Videl, Pan, & Goten) at Trunks and Halley's.
Vegeta still refused to leave, saying he and Bulma were staying until Trunks marked Halley as his—and his alone.
Bulma has been making sure everything was in order—and wasn't letting Trunks do anything—which was starting to get on his nerves. However, what was really getting on his nerves was Vegeta's constant rantings about how he should mark Halley now while she's asleep—or mating her and giving him fighting grandchildren.
Trunks wasn't ready to be a dad, and Halley's not even ready to have sex.
Right now:
Halley was currently asleep.
Bulma, Chi-Chi, and Videl were making breakfast.
Trunks, Gohan, and Goten, were playing Crazy Eights (Card game).
Vegeta and Goku were outside—in the pouring rain, training a bit before breakfast.
Pan was moping on the couch because of the rain; her soccer tournament was canceled.
The last few days had been interesting:
After Trunks woke up after his nap, he walked out to the kitchen, smelling something his mother was making in the crockpot. She was making chicken and dumpling soup, hoping Halley would be able to eat it.
Halley ate a little before going back to sleep.
But going back to before that:
After Trunks smelt the food, he noticed two regular-sized cats and two regular-sized kittens sitting at his sliding glass kitchen door.
Flashback:
"Oh, good; you're up. Did you have a nice nap? How's Halley?" Bulma asked question after question, looking at Trunks, who was looking at his kitchen door.
"'Bout damn time." Vegeta grumbled.
"Vegeta, behave." Bulma scolded, smacking Vegeta over the head with a rolled-up newspaper.
"Halley's sleeping. I think her fever spiked again; her forehead was really hot again, so I put a cool, damp cloth on her. Cats?" Trunks answered his mom before asking.
"Oh. The poor girl. Yeah, they've been sitting there are morning. I don't know where they came from, but they won't leave. Once the weather starts clearing up, I'll put up missing posters; maybe they live on one of the farms nearby. If not, I'll call Animal Control. Hey, what are you doing? I just swept and mopped." Bulma explained before asking and complaining.
"They don't belong to any of the farms or houses around here. Don't call Animal Control. It'd be pointless and a waste of time; they'd just find their way back here. I was wondering what happened to them because I didn't see them when we got back from Mars, but these are Halley's cats." Trunks replied, watching the cats look around before quickly going to his room.
"But they were giants on Mars. What the hell happened there?" Vegeta asked, perplexed.
"I'm not sure. But I know they are them; they look exactly the same—just smaller." Trunks replied.
"Oh, no. No. Down!" Bulma yelled, quickly walked to Trunks's room.
"What are you doing? Let them be." Trunks told his mom.
"But they've jumped onto the bed." Bulma argued right away.
"Let them be. Mom, I love you, but this is my house—and that's my bed. On Mars, their beds were soft mats on the floor. Those cats are probably used to being able to sleep next to Halley. Well, the older ones. I'm not sure about the younger two. Also, the older two belonged to her mother and uncle; they tamed them. On Mars, those cats were the size of lions; they were probably meant for protecting them—or at least, Halley. She's already lost so much. I'll just have to buy a litter box or something…" Trunks explained, ending in a sigh.
End Flashback:
As it would turn out, Trunks doesn't have to buy any litter boxes; they all go to the door when they want out.
Then that day, after she met her father—and the witch came; Halley slept pretty much all day, only getting up to use the bathroom and eat a few crackers.
The day after that, Halley got out of bed; she was going to get ready to visit her aunt and uncle's grave. Vegeta put a stop to that right away—perhaps a little too harshly.
Flashback:
It was the middle of the afternoon when Halley woke up—still not feeling well. More than anything, at that moment, she was dizzy. But she wanted to visit her aunt and uncle.
It was still raining out. No. It wasn't raining; it was downpouring. Halley still had no concept of rain other than it was wet.
Bulma was just getting out of the shower, Vegeta was just using the bathroom, and Trunks just went to check the mail.
Slowly, Halley climbed out of bed and started walking out of the room to the kitchen; she quickly located the sliding glass doors leading outside. However, she didn't notice Vegeta walking into the kitchen.
"And just where the hell do you think you're going?!" Vegeta asked, yelling a little, startling Halley.
She slowly turned to look at Vegeta, meeting his angry eyes; she could tell he wasn't having a good day.
It was true; Vegeta was having a shit morning and afternoon. He and Goku placed bets on some baseball game: Goku won—and the bastard wasn't even trying!
"Well?! What do you think you're doing?! Where do you think you're going?!" Vegeta demanded, snapping even more.
"I-I-I… A-Aunt Raye and Uncle Venus. Wanted to visit them." Halley softly answered, stuttering a little at first.
"What are you crazy?! Do you ever want to get back to feeling better?! You're not going anywhere but back to bed!" Vegeta yelled, not even trying to hide his anger anymore.
"B-b-but… Y-y-you said…" Halley started, upset and confused, horribly stuttering.
"I said what?! What I just said was for you to march your ass back to bed! Ow! What the hell?!" Vegeta yelled before hollering in pain, holding his head; Bulma hit him over the head with a rolled-up piece of cardboard.
"What's going on now?" Trunks asked, finally walking in from outside, his raincoat, hat, and boots drenched in water and mud.
"Just because you're having a bad day because you lost a stupid bet to Goku, doesn't mean you can take it out on Halley! The poor girl is not only sick, but she just lost the only family she had left. And—in a few days, when she feels better, Trunks will be forced to mark and take her freedom! All becasue of some Mr. Zizzlo douchebag!" Bulma yelled, standing over Vegeta with her rolled-up cardboard.
"Halley's up?" Trunks asked once his boots were off—and his coat and hat were hung up.
"Yes; she's up." Bulma answered.
"And she's trying to go outside." Vegeta added.
"Halley?" Trunks asked, concerned, ignoring his dad; he walked right over to Halley.
Halley had collapsed to her knees; her hand pressed right against the sliding door.
'You said I could visit Uncle Venus and Aunt Raye every day.' Halley telepathically told Trunks so she wouldn't stutter—and because she didn't know how to respond after Vegeta yelled at her like that.
"Yes, I did say that. But Halley—you're not well right now. And it's not nice outside. If you go out in that, you'll only become even sicker. Listen to me, please. They're right out there, under the tree. We buried them deep, deep down so that weather like this can't pull them up. I promise you, in a few days when you're feeling better—and it's not raining like this; you can go out and see them all you want. Mom, Dad, and I don't want you to be anymore sick than you already are. Your mom, aunt, and uncle wouldn't want you out in this right now; they wouldn't want you to be sicker than you already are. So, what do you say? Let's get you back into bed so that you can feel better and then visit them again." Trunks calmly told Halley, squatting next to her.
It took a few seconds, but Halley let go of the door and reached for Trunks.
"That a girl; let's go." Trunks told Halley, relieved.
End Flashback:
Two days ago, it wasn't raining; it was warm and sunny.
Halley was still sick but not near as bad as the first two or three days after moving in.
Trunks let her go out and visit her aunt and uncle, knowing full well that it would be the only nice day for the next week or so.
Flashback:
Halley was just walking out of Trunks's room and into the kitchen to get something to drink when she looked out the sliding glass doors; it looked busy.
Bulma was bossing Vegeta, Goku, Trunks, Piccolo, and Krillin around—I mean—telling them where to put things.
For the most part, Bulma left the inside of the house alone; she changed the kitchen/dining room, two of four guest rooms, and both guest bathrooms around.
Against her want, Bulma left the living room, basement, two out of four guest rooms, the laundry room, and the basement alone.
Even though Bulma desperately wanted to rearrange Trunks's room, she left it alone.
For two reasons:
1: Halley was unwell and sleeping.
2: Trunks asked her not to, saying she could have full range of the rest of the house.
The other day, Trunks made the mistake of talking to himself about doing something with his yard without looking to see if he was alone.
Bulma overheard him and immediately got stars in her eyes before they turned into that scary determination.
"Hey. How are you feeling?" Trunks asked, looking at Halley; he noticed her watching them and stopped to see her.
"Mmm… A little tired." Halley honestly answered in a soft tone.
"Hold on a second." Trunks instructed before disappearing into his basement.
Five Minutes Later:
Trunks reemerged from the basement, holding something Halley thought she recognized.
"You have fancy mat-beds here?" Halley asked, looking at what Trunks had.
"No. Oh, I suppose this does look like what you slept on living on Mars. But no, this is called a "Sleeping bag." They're usually used for camping—which I'll take and show you next Spring when it's warmer at night. Come with me." Trunks told Halley before leading her back to what he now considers as their room.
"It's not the warmest out right now… Mom picked you up some outfits, so you'd have something from Earth to wear. Uhh… Mom and I both apologize for this… But the dress you arrived in—Mom washed it, and it kind of shrunk—a lot." Trunks nervously apologized, opening his top drawer; he pulled out her dress—which could now fit a cat or small dog.
Halley just stared at it, confused for a moment before she started laughing and fell to her knees.
"Halley?" Trunks asked, confused.
"I hated that dress…" Halley answered after she calmed down—receiving hiccups in return.
"Then why wear it?" Trunks asked, confused.
"It's a—was a traditional ceremonial Arien dress for the monthly tribute to Aries. Because I received his blood, every second Starday of the month, I'd have to wear that dress and sit in front of all of Mars. Well—in our area. Someone from a different planet, who only came on the second Starday was able to create a big magic—thing appear in every major area of Mars for people to see and praise Aries—and me." Halley distantly explained.
"Sounds like so much fun." Trunks sarcastically spoke, watching Halley, who looked like a deer in headlights.
"No, it wasn't fun; it was horrible—and uncomfortable. Too many people just staring and bowing at me. Fun was being able to playing games like "Four Up, Down, or Angled." Or "Gotcha! Time For Sleep." But we only got to play that on Freedays because Uncle Venus had to go different places for work—sometimes to other planets. And Aunt Raye—because she's the—was the only living descendant of Ares, had a lot of meetings and stuff like that. And when she's not in meetings or whatever, usually Moondays or Dridays." Halley replied, not understanding sarcasm.
"I kind of figured you weren't thrilled with being spectated like that; I was being sarcastic. Never mind. What were days called on Mars? Here, we have Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday." Trunks replied and then asked.
"Umm… We have Starday for worshiping Ares. Moonday to start the week. Specday for making sure Mars is clean. Windsday and Driday for halfway through the week marks. Freeday is to do whatever you want until Lazeday when you do nothing but laze around until it's time to make food. I detest Lazeday; it's so boring." Halley answered before she started coughing a little.
"Well, Earth is very different. I'll explain later. For now, before I change my mind: change into these and meet me back in the kitchen." Trunks instructed, pointing to the clothes he'd placed on the bed for Halley.
"Ok." Halley softly replied, doing as she was told.
Three Minutes Later:
Halley had some issues figuring out how to get the pants on, never having worn them before. But she figured them out and got them on. The shirt was slightly easier; she just didn't understand why the arms were so long.
The socks were the only thing she remotely understood.
"Everything fit ok?" Trunks asked, looking at Halley.
"Mmmhmm." Halley answered, standing in front of him.
"Is everything ok?" Trunks asked, watching her.
"Why are the arms so long?" Halley asked, holding her arms out.
"To keep you warm. Trust me; you'll understand soon enough. Here. These should fit you ok—as in, they shouldn't be too tight and hurt your feet. In this weather, without shoes, you'll only become sicker instead of better." Trunks explained, handing Halley a pair of slip-on shoes.
"What's going on?" Halley asked, confused, taking the shoes.
"I know you're still not well—but this is going to be the only nice day for at least a week—maybe two. So I figured you'd like to visit your aunt and uncle." Trunks told her, smiling when he saw her face light up.
"Really?" Halley asked, looking at Trunks.
"Yes. Really." Trunks replied.
That was that; Halley put those shoes on, followed by a zippered sweater Trunks handed her.
"What's going on?" Goten curiously asked.
"Trunks?" Bulma asked, confused.
"Is she finally not sick?" Vegeta asked, narrowing his eyes.
"Never mind." Trunks replied, letting Halley lead the way.
"Stay on the sleeping bag until you're ready to go back inside." Trunks told Halley after setting the sleeping bag, folded in half on the ground for her.
"Thank you." Halley softly thanked before slowly sitting on the sleeping bag.
"Is that wise?" Gohan asked when Trunks walked back.
"She's still sick…" Bulma started only to be interrupted by Trunks's hand.
"Yes, she's still sick. But as I told her: this is going to be the only nice day in a while. She's not nearly as bad as a few days ago. I put a sleeping bag down so she wouldn't be sitting on the cold, wet ground. I made sure she was wearing the proper clothing—including shoes. She can have at least an hour to visit her family. She's at least owed that. If the weather gets as bad as it says it's going to be, she won't be able to go out and visit them for God only knows how long." Trunks firmly explained.
After that, everyone backed off and went back to whatever it is they were doing.
Halley didn't make it to an hour; she didn't even make it forty-five minutes before passing out a little over half an hour.
Trunks ended up carrying her back to bed and had Bulma change her into one of his shirts again.
He wasn't mad—he couldn't be mad. He only told Halley not to get off the sleeping bag until she was ready to go in; he said nothing about her not falling asleep on it. Plus, it is a sleeping bag—and is meant to sleep in or on.
There was also a chance she didn't realize she was tired and just blacked out.
Another reason Trunks couldn't be mad or upset with Halley falling asleep: she looked so peacefully—and at least a little bit happier.
About two hours after bringing her in, it started lightly raining.
End Flashback:
The heavy rain only started early this morning at around three.
Now:
Halley was just waking up—and finally didn't feel like crap:
Her body didn't ache.
Her head didn't hurt.
Her chest didn't hurt.
She could breathe properly.
Her nose wasn't runny—and she could smell.
She wasn't dizzy.
She didn't feel nauseous.
She was ready for a brand new day—except for the pouring rain she had learned she was not supposed to go out in.
After a few minutes of sitting, staring out the bedroom window, Halley smelt something she'd never smelt before—and she kind of liked it.
She climbed out of bed and slowly walked out to the kitchen to find everyone doing something.
"Oh, good morning, Sweetie. How are you feeling? Are you hungry? We're making breakfast?" Bulma asked, holding a spatula…
