"Why did you lie to the lawyers?", Gabriel asks once the two reach his office.
"What?", Adrien asks.
"Yesterday, you never mentioned finding her walking out of the apartment building," Gabriel explains.
"I guess it just slipped my mind," Adrien says, scratching the back of his neck nervously.
"No, I know you, Adrien. You'd never leave anything out if it's for someone you love," Gabriel says.
"Wha- l-love?"
"I know you love her Adrien. I'm not blind. Tell me why you lied," Gabriel says.
"Hold on. Mari needs to be here for this," Adrien says, running to the living room. He grabs Mari and pulls her out of the room.
"What? What is it?", she asks.
"Father suspects something!", he panics.
"He what?"
"We weren't consistent with our lies! What do we do!?", he says, pacing while running a hand through his hair.
"Oh god! Wait a minute," Marinette says.
"What!? Tell me!", Adrien freaks out.
"What if we just tell him we're LB and Chat?", Marinette asks.
"Really? What about having secret identities?"
"It's been 5 years. I think we should tell someone," Marinette says.
"Alright, let's go," Adrien says, grabbing Marinette's hand and walking back to Gabriel's office.
"So son, you ready to tell me?", he asks once the two walk in.
"Yeah…", Adrien starts.
"Go on," Marinette whispers.
"She'sladybugandi'mchatnoirandweonlyfigureditoutlastnight," Adrien rushes through.
"I'm sorry what?", Gabriel asks, not understanding what on Earth he said.
"She's Ladybug, I'm Chat Noir and we only found out last night," Adrien repeats, slower.
"Oh my god! Oh my god!", Gabriel panics.
"What?"
"I'm sorry. I'm so so sorry!", Gabriel says.
"What!? Why!?'", Marinette asks.
"I-I'm Hawkmoth," Gabriel whispers.
"You're what!?", Marinette and Adrien scream at the same time.
"I wanted to bring back your mother with your miraculouses," he explains.
"It's okay. We get it. If what happened to mother happened to M'lady I'd probably do the same thing," Adrien says.
"I agree with him," Marinette adds.
"Thank you guys so much!", Gabriel exclaims, pulling the both of them into a hug.
"I do just wanna know one thing," Adrien says.
"What?"
"Who is Mayura?", he asks.
"Oh, Nathalie. She knew about the miraculous and wanted to help me bring her back," Gabriel says.
"Oh, that makes sense," Adrien says. Gabriel moves to open up the safe behind Emile's painting.
"Here," he says, handing them the two miraculous.
"No, keep them. I trust you," Marinette says. Gabriel smiles. At that moment her phone bings.
"Oh, it's Alya. She's wondering where we went," Marinette says after checking her phone.
"You two should go back down," Gabriel tells them, closing the safe. Marinette and Adrien turn and start to head out.
"Oh wait, one more thing," Marinette says, turning back around.
"Why do all of your villains look terrible?", she asks. Gabriel laughs.
"So no one would suspect a designer," he chuckles. His phone then vibrates so he pulls it out.
"It's Jason. The court case is set for 2 days from now," he says.
"Thank you, Mr. Agreste," Marinette says.
"Call me Gabriel."
"Thank you, Gabriel," she repeats, smiling. The two teens walk out hand in hand. Gabriel smiles at their retreating figures.
"The city couldn't have any better heroes," he says.
