I DON'T MY OWN MY HERO ACADEMIA
SEASON 2
Chapter 8: Lumiere
"T-Todoroki-san?" Kaori called, clutching her bag in nervousness.
He looked up at her with an uncaring expression. 'Ouch. Okay, how do I go about this? …Just ask a simple question.' Kaori thought. The two just stood there in awkward silence waiting for the other to speak. Todoroki getting impatient, decided to speak, "Nakamura-san?"
"S-Sorry. Um…Do you know the truth?"
"Yes, what does that have to do with anything?" He asked.
"I thought since- "
"The truth doesn't change anything. We can continue as we always were. We came here to become heroes, nothing else." With that Todoroki left to go to his seat.
'Oh…' Kaori walked to her seat. She was hurt by what he said, she thought they could maybe talk about it. 'I thought wrong.' She hoped to kindle a friendship with Todoroki, but he was cold to her. Even more than before. She sat down and sighed, not noticing Bakugou glaring at her.
"Nakamura-chan!" Mina greeted.
Kaori looked up from her desk to see Mina, "Mina-san. Good morning."
"Isn't it exciting?! We're going to see if we got any offers from heroes."
Kaori completely forgot. She was so consumed about what she found out that her mind didn't give her space to think about anything else. 'What if other heroes are secretly like Endeavour? Cruel, selfish, only wanting to be on top…' Immediately, she shook the thought away. 'I can't doubt them all. I should just be…cautious.'
"Nakamura-chan?"
"Sorry. Yeah, I wonder how many we got."
"Right!" Mina piped.
Kaori giggled, she enjoyed Mina's exuberant personality. "Well, I'll go to my seat then." Mina cheerfully waved before going.
Kaori turned to her left and saw Bakugou sitting in his seat. She gave him a small smile. "Good morning."
He looked at her but said nothing. Kaori was unfazed, she was used to him not replying. She would've been more surprised if he had replied. Aizawa arrived so everyone went silent, they were all excited.
"Good morning." He said.
"Good morning!" The class chanted.
"Aizawa-sensei, your bandages are gone. I'm glad." Tsu commented.
"The old lady went overboard with her treatment. More importantly, we're having a special hero informatics class today."
"…Code names. You'll be coming up with hero names." He continued.
"We're gonna do something exciting!" The class sang.
"This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day. The drafts begin in earnest in the second and third years, after students have gained experience and can become immediate assets to the pros. In other words, for them to extend offers to first years like you shows that they are interested in your future potential. These offers are often cancelled if that interest dies down by graduation." Aizawa explained.
"So here are the totals for those with offers." Aizawa pressed a button on his remote. It revealed the amount of offers they got.
'Kaori Nakamura…Kaori Nakamura…Kaori Nakamura…' Kaori was looking for her name, 'Kaori N- There. 299 offers. I really got offers…I did it!'
Jirou was confused, "Todoroki's first, and Bakugou's second…?"
"It's the opposite of their placement in the sports festival." Kirishima commented.
"Some people are too scared to ask for a guy who had to be restrained on the podium." Sero answered.
"What're the pros scared of?!" Bakugou screamed.
"Kacchan, you got a lot of offers. Congratulations." Kaori said.
"Tch."
"Keeping these results in mind, whether or not anyone asked for you, you all will be participating in internships with pros." Aizawa said.
"The hero names will be temporary, but if you're not serious about it…"
"…You'll have hell to pay later!" Midnight finished for him as she entered the classroom. "Because a lot of hero names used by students become recognised by society, and they end up becoming professional hero names."
"Well that's how it is. So, Midnight will be making sure your names are okay." Aizawa clarified.
The class were given a paper and a pen for them to write their hero names. Kaori could hear scribbling beside her, she was playing with her pen whilst thinking of a hero name. 'My Quirk is Light Manipulation. What goes well with that? Light…Light...Light…' That same word repeated in her mind. All of a sudden,a light bulb switched on in her head. 'That's it!' She jotted down her hero name.
After a while, Midnight spoke. "Okay, let's start presenting names starting with those who are ready."
Aoyama went first. "Here I go…" He muttered as he slowly lifted up his paper. "Shining hero... I can not stop twinkling! Which means, you can't stop my sparkles!" Midnight gave him advice and told him to remove some words.
"Then, I'll go next." Mina offered. She stood up and went towards the front. "Hero name, Alien Queen!"
Tsu offered next. "Then, may I go next?" She was given the okay so she presented. "I've had this in mind ever since I was in elementary school. Rainy Season Hero: Froppy."
"That's so cute! It seems friendly. I like it! It's a great example of a name that everyone will love!" Midnight said. People started to get the courage to present their hero names.
"Nakamura!" Midnight pointed at Kaori. "Why don't you present your hero name?"
Kaori slowly got up and walked to the front, stiffly. "You got this!" Midnight reassured. She could feel eyes on her which made her more uneasy. She looked at everyone one by one, but she stopped at Bakugou. He was letting his frustration out on the paper but looked up at her before looking back down. For some strange reason, she was more at ease. "Hero name: Lumiere."
"Lumiere? Meaning light? How cool! Your Quirk is Light Manipulation, so it makes perfect sense!" Midnight said.
Kaori sighed in relief. "Thank you, Midnight."
"Cool!" Kirishima commented. "I like it!" Mina said. The class agreed with the two. The class continued to give their hero names. She thanked the class before heading back to her seat. She glanced at Bakugou a few times, 'I felt more at ease when he looked at me even though he had his usual annoyed look.'' Kaori didn't realise she was staring at him longer than intended and he finally noticed.
Raising an eyebrow whilst glaring at her. "What?!"
"Huh?" Confusion was written on her face.
"You were staring at me, stop! Are you making fun of me in that head of yours?!"
'He saw?! How embarrassing!' Kaori's cheeks flushed in embarrassment as she looked down. "N-No, I wasn't making fun of you."
"So why?!" He asked.
"Bakugou! Nakamura! Are we boring you? Would you like to share your conversation with the class?" Midnight grinned.
"We apologise, Midnight-san," Kaori spoke on behalf of the two of them.
"Tch." She heard from beside her.
"Now that, that is over with. Back to what I was saying. Choosing hero names is going more smoothly than I thought it would! All that's left is Bakugou who needs to rethink his, and Iida. And, Midoriya, right?" Midnight said.
Iida presented his paper to everyone. "You're using your first name." Midnight asked.
"Midoriya-kun, are you ready?" Midnight asked.
"Y-Yes!" He walked to the front and the class were unsure with his hero name. "Yeah, I didn't like this name until now. But someone changed the meaning of it, and that had a huge impact on me. It made me really happy. This is my hero name!" Midoriya declared as he held a paper, Deku was written on it.
"Lord Explosion Murder!" Bakugou yelled as he showed the class his hero name. Kaori held in her laughter.
"No, that's still no good," Midnight deadpanned.
Aizawa held a bunch of paper. "Now that everyone's decided on their hero names, we'll go back to talking about the internships. They will last for a week. Think carefully before you choose."
"Yes, sir!" Everyone chanted. The Class A students were given papers.
"I want to fight crime in urban areas!" Kirishima said.
"I hope I can intern at a place with floods," Tsu commented.
"Turn in your choices before the weekend. Make your decision efficiently. Dismissed." Aizawa said as the bell rang signifying the end of the lesson, Aizawa and Midnight left the classroom. 'Meaning we have two days to decide…' Kaori sighed. She was unsure. Very unsure. She was worried other heroes had a hidden side to them.
Kaori skimmed through the names, 'Mt. Lady…' Normally, Kaori would've immediately told the teachers she wanted to go to her agency without thought, but now she didn't know. She continued her scan but stopped. 'I was actually a bit afraid of this hero when I was younger because he looked like a villain. But not everything is at it seems. I thought Endeavour was an amazing hero but inside he was…revolting. This hero looks like a villain, but appearances don't matter, it's deep down. Maybe I should- '
Mina's voice interrupted her thoughts. "Hey guys, have you decided what pro agency you're going to yet?"
"I'm going to Mt. Lady!" Mineta had a twisted look on his face.
"Mineta-chan, you're thinking about something perverted, aren't you?" Tsu muttered. Kaori rubbed her neck; she wasn't quite sure what to think about Mineta. She's seen the way he ogles at the girls. Inappropriately. It made her rather uncomfortable.
"I'm not!" Mineta shouted.
Deku was muttering something incoherent so Kaori chose to not bother him. The corner of her eyes caught someone. Taking a deep breath, Kaori stood up and walked towards Todoroki. "T-Todoroki-san? You got a lot of offers. Congratulations."
"Thanks."
"Have you chosen an agency?" She asked.
"No."
Kaori noticed he seemed to be in a foul mood, he was frowning at the sheet of paper. His eyes were fixated in the middle of the paper. He received an offer from Endeavour which is what baffled him.
"T-Todoroki-san? Are you okay?"
He nodded.
"Are- "
"Nakamura!"
Kaori twirled, "Kirishima-san?"
"Do you know what agency you are going to join?" He asked.
"I'm not quite sure actually, I'm still debating over these two heroes." She pointed at the paper.
"They're both manly!" Kaori laughed at his choice of vocabulary.
"Have you decided yet?" Kaori asked.
"Nope. I'm going to ask different people what they have chosen. See you later!" He said as he ran off.
"Sorry about that, Todoroki-san, have- "But when she turned around, Todoroki was gone. Kaori sighed. She looked around the classroom for him, but he was nowhere in sight. She noticed All Might was speaking with Midoriya and they left the class together.
'Strange…' Kaori noticed moments where All Might and Midoriya would leave together, she normally shrugged it off, but it was becoming more frequent which was odd for her.
Kino continued to walk, unsure of her exact destination. She was searching for someone, but they were nowhere to be found. She crossed a narrow alleyway, there was a shining light deep within the alleyway which illuminated from where she was. 'I'm in the correct place,' she thought as she picked up her pace.
The man opened his eyes once he heard soft heels against the ground. "You know why you're meeting me here."
Kino shuffled uncomfortably, "I'm guessing…you wanted to meet me here because of the problem that has occurred."
"Problem, you say. There wouldn't be a problem if you had just kept your mouth shut."
"I…I believed our daughter deserved to know the truth."
Endeavour stopped tapping his foot against the ground. "Our daughter. She's no daughter of mine, rather a failure."
Kino's shoulders dropped; she furrowed her eyebrows. "Why are you so cold? Don't you have a bit of warmth in you? Can't you see you're hurting others. For example, Shouto Todoroki. I saw him during the sports festival, he seems so…empty."
"He's only going through a phase. Don't mind him."
"A phase. That's not a ph- "
Endeavour cut her off, "I didn't come here to talk about Shouto. You need to make sure that failure keeps her mouth shut and doesn't tell the world about my blood that runs through her veins."
"She won't…" Kino responded.
"Good. You know the consequences if the world knows."
"Yes. But- "
"Our discussion is over. Leave."
"I'm home!" Kaori shouted as she took off her shoes. Kaori didn't get a response back; she raised her eyebrows. "Mama?" Kaori saw her mother sitting down on the chair, her hand was on her chin. She was so absorbed in her thoughts, she failed to hear her daughter calling her.
"Mama? You okay? Did you not hear me come in?" Kaori asked, she sat down next to Kino.
Finally noticing Kaori, she spoke, "…Welcome back. Sorry I was just thinking. H-How was school? Did you get offers?"
"School was fine. I got offers, but I haven't chosen the agency I want yet. You said you were thinking, thinking about what?"
"Just about stuff." Kino responded.
Kaori didn't believe Kino, the look in her mother's eyes were different. "Mama…You said no more secrets between us."
Kino took in a deep breath. "I did, didn't I? So, I guess I should tell you. While you were at school, I went to meet Endeavour- "
Kaori tightened her fists, her voice intensified. "You went to meet him."
"Yes, I went to meet your father. He just wanted to make sure you won't tell anyone."
"Of course, he wants to make sure I don't tell anyone. He doesn't want the world to the know who the Number Two Hero really is. Actually, mama, we should tell the world. They deserve to know."
"No."
"But mama- "
"I said no! This is between us two. You focus on being a hero. Now, back to the offers you received."
"That's not important right now though."
"The offers are important. Don't stress yourself out with my problems."
Kaori's voice softened. "But I don't want you to carry the weight yourself."
Kino chuckled. "I'm your mother, I don't want you worrying. Why don't you tell me about the offers, and I can help you with that."
Kaori showed her the two options she was struggling on, so for the rest of the afternoon, Kino helped her decide.
At first, when Kaori found out the news, the relationship between her and Kino became awkward. Kaori was hesitant to speak with her mother, but Kino decided they should go out and have fun together, that broke the awkwardness and their relationship returned to how it once was, even stronger.
"Gang Orca, huh? Quite an interesting choice." Kirishima said.
"He looks like a villain," Mina commented.
"I was actually quite wary of him because of that, but I decided to try." Kaori said.
"You made a bold choice. That's manly!" Kirishima encouraged.
Kaori was on the train with Kirishima, Mina and Todoroki. However, Todoroki was far away from them, so it looked like they were separate. The group were on the train going to the agency they chose.
"Ah, this is my stop! Bye, Nakamura-chan! Bye, Kirishima-kun! We'll text!" Mina hopped off the train and waved to her two companions. Kaori waved to her friend. "Of course, we'll text," Kirishima responded.
"Do you think Todoroki-san looks different?" Kirishima asked.
"Different? What do you mean?"
"Like…He seems even more troubled." Kirishima shrugged.
Kaori looked at Todoroki, but his eyes were closed. "He seems fine to me."
"Maybe it's just me then." Kirishima said.
Kaori noticed this was her stop, so she tightened her hold on her bag. "Bye, Kirishima-kun." She wanted to say goodbye to Todoroki, but his eyes were closed, and she didn't want to disturb his sleep. 'What should I do then?'
"Nakamura? You should go, you're going to miss your stop."
"You're right, sorry. Thank you." Kaori left the train.
Kaori entered Gang Orca's agency. "Amazing!"
"It is quite amazing, isn't it?" A male chuckled. Kaori looked at the man in a tight orange jumpsuit with navy blue patterns. He had an orange mask covering his eyes only but there were holes so he could still see. He wore long orange fingerless gloves, so it looked like his jumpsuit and gloves are one. 'That hero looks so familiar…'
"…Huh? I'm sorry, did I say that out loud?" Kaori asked.
"It's alright." The male looked at her hero costume. "Kaori Nakamura, I presume."
"Y-Yes, sir!"
"I am Claws. I will be the one to take you to Gang Orca."
'The hero, Claws! No wonder he looked so familiar.'
"Follow me."
Kaori followed Claws, every turn they took, he was greeted. 'If I'm a hero, will I be treated like that.' Claws stopped walking and knocked on a door. "Gang Orca, Kaori Nakamura is here."
"Bring her in, thank you. You can leave after that, Claws."
'I can do this,' Kaori entered the spacious room. The room was quite plain, it was covered in sand coloured wallpaper and the floor was covered in a black, comfy-looking carpet. The room was neat compared to her imagination, the books were stacked neatly in one corner, there were posters of different Heroes behind Gang orca's desk and there was a Gang Orca figure on the side of his desk. 'A fan probably gave it to him?'
Gang Orca finally spoke, "Kaori Nakamura. Lumiere."
"Y-Yes, sir!"
"You will address me as Gang Orca, and I will address you as Lumiere."
'Lumiere…He's addressing me as my hero name.' For some odd reason, that made Kaori smile. Her being addressed as her hero name made her feel important and respected.
"This will not be a walk in the park. I hope you're prepared." He said.
"Yes, sir- Gang Orca!" She corrected.
"Good. You were chosen because I saw potential in your Quirk. Explain to me your Quirk."
"My Quirk is Light Manipulation. I can control light from light sources, sunlight is the strongest source, so my Quirk is at its best on a sunny day. In the night, my Quirk is quite weak because there is no sunlight." She explained.
"Hmm, I see. So, from what I've seen in the sports festival, your Quirk requires a great deal of concentration and it can strain your eyes and from what you've told me, you can't use your Quirk in the night unless there is a light source. If you were ever a hero and you had to fight a villain during the night, what would you do?"
Kaori rubbed the back of her neck, "I've never thought about that…" Kaori's never thought about that setback. What if I'm unable to save someone during the night?'
"That is an obstacle indeed. You wish to be a hero, but you've never thought about that setback. Did you not think you might not be unable to save someone in the night. If you wish to be a hero, think about your Quirk and how it might endanger someone." Kaori drooped her shoulders from hearing his words. Sensing her worry, Gang Orca continued. "However, I think you will be able to overcome it." Kaori brightened.
"How will I overcome that setback?" She asked.
"Hmm…a support item." He responded.
"Support item? What support item?"
"You will have to think about that one yourself. I will only guide you. You have a full week to think about the support item." Gang Orca stood up, he went towards the door and opened it.
"Sir-Gang Orca, where are you going?"
"On patrol. Lumiere, you will come with me and see how it is for a hero. When I'm on patrol, you will think about what kind of support item you'll need." Gang Orca looked at her outfit. "You will have three minutes to change into your hero costume, next time, meet me with it on."
"Yes, Gang Orca!"
Gang Orca received different kinds of looks, some were wary of him, others looked afraid of him and others were shocked and joyful to have seen him. "That's Gang Orca…" They all muttered similar phrases.
'A support item…What kind of support item though? My Quirk is Light Manipulation. I can control light from light sources…in the night, there is no sunlight but if there is, I can control the light, but it won't be as strong. In the night, the moon could give off some light, but I'm not used to getting my source from there so it could be difficult.'
"You are dwelling on your thoughts too much."
Kaori stopped her train of thought. "Lumiere, as a hero, you should look at the citizens and see if they are in any danger. Of course, I gave you a task, but you also need to see how patrolling is like."
"Yes, Gang Orca!"
Kaori noticed how serious Gang Orca looked as he watched over the citizens. 'This shows how much he cares about the safety of the citizens,' Kaori decided to thoroughly look at the area and inform Gang Orca anything suspicious.
Night
Kaori finished texting her mother and friend's goodnight, so she set her phone on the nightstand. She bounced onto the bed and made herself comfortable. 'Today's been a long day and I still don't know what I should do when it's dark.' Kaori sighed.
She closed her eyes but there was a knock on the door before somebody entered. "It's Gang Orca. You didn't think the day was over, did you?"
"Huh?" She asked.
"We're going to train." He answered.
"It's night-time, though."
"That's exactly why we're going to train. The moon provides light, but it is not as strong as the sun, so you will train your Quirk to fight with the moon as your source. It may not be as powerful, but it will help you. I hope you are prepared for this; I won't go easy on you. Change into your training outfit."
"Yes, Gang Orca!" Once he left, Kaori rubbed her eyes. She was exhausted but she knew she had to do this, so she changed into her training outfit.
"I will not use my Quirk. Ready…Start!"
Kaori flung her leg at him and he easily dodged the kick, she raised her fists and attacked him. He grabbed her arm and tossed the girl away from him. "I didn't say you can't use your Quirk, use it!" He struck his fist at her face; Kaori was slow in reacting because she was tired, so she got hit. "Is that all you can do?!" Kaori raised her palm and tried to form a whip, but the whip barely formed, it was transparent. "There's barely any light!" Kaori said.
Kaori charged at him and swung her whip at him, Gang Orca used his two arms as a shield. Once the whip connected with Gang Orca's arm, he grabbed it away from her. "This whip is weak…" He muttered. "I didn't feel any pain at all. So, the brighter the light, the more powerful it is." He continued. 'Really? I never thought about the intensity of the light,' The girl thought as she curiously stared at the whip in Gang Orca's hand.
"Lumiere, can you control this whip to come out of my hand?"
"Normally I could but because it is dark, I can't." She said.
"Try." He said. Kaori closed her eyes and pointed her index finger at the whip, she moved her index finger towards herself, but the whip only wiggled. "I can't…"
"Every night we'll train for you to get used to the moon."
Day 2
Kaori's slumber was interrupted by the ringing of her alarm clock signalling to her that it is time to wake up. 'Another day to think about the support item,' Kaori looked at her phone and she received a few messages from her classmates. She decided to send Bakugou a text, 'Good morning, Kacchan. Hope your time with Best Jeanist is going well.' What she didn't expect was the quick response from him. 'You only just woke up now. How stupid. You should be up early training; guess you don't really want to become strong.' Kaori didn't notice the smile that crept its way onto her face.
"Lumiere, don't get distracted. Get ready for the day."
Kaori was told to not patrol with Gang Orca today as had to think about her support item. She was in the lounge and was watching a series about the different heroes. She hoped it would inspire her about an idea of the support item, but it didn't spark an idea.
'I can't think about anything. Let's just think about the basics, the support item will have to be something with light as without light, my Quirk is useless. It will have to somehow be suitable and fit with my hero costume.' Kaori looked inside her bag and grabbed her notebook and a pencil. She wrote key points about the support item. 'I have all this, but I can't think about an item...'
Claws soon entered the lounge to see heaps of paper sprouted around Kaori. The girl realising another party was in the room started to speak, "I'm sorry, I'll get this all cleaned up," She said in an annoyed tone whilst picking the papers up.
"I'm guessing you're this heated because you can't think of a support item?" Claws chuckled.
She sighed. "Yes. I don't think I'll be able to think of one…"
Claws sat down next to her left and lightly punched her arm, "Hey, don't give up. Don't you think us heroes had setbacks? But did we succumb to them? No! We stayed strong, and that's what you have to do right now. It's only day 2, you still have 5 days and I believe that you'll overcome this, Lumiere." 'Lumiere…My hero name.' In this moment, Kaori felt like she was a hero herself, Claws saw her as his equal, as a hero not just a U.A. student. "Thank you, Claws!" He nodded before leaving the room.
'I should take a break from thinking, I have 5 days, not like I have to know the support item right away.' She nodded to herself, content with her plan and ate the dinner Gang Orca left for her before he left.
Night
"Gang Orca. How was the patrol?" Kaori asked.
"It was fine. Fortunately, nothing dangerous happened. Have you thought of any idea for the support item?"
Kaori responded sheepishly, "No. I can't even find inspiration."
"Sometimes the answer is very simple, Lumiere. Perhaps the problem is you're overthinking it," Gang Orca suggested.
Kaori looked down, 'Simple yet it seems so difficult."
"Lumiere." Gang Orca waited until she looked up at him before continuing to speak, "I wouldn't have given you this task if I didn't think you were capable of succeeding." He finished.
Even though it was challenging, Kaori was glad she decided to choose Gang Orca's agency. 'He's nothing like Endeavour.' Her face grimaced at the thought of the pain he caused her mother. Gang Orca raised his eyebrows but didn't ask her of the reason why her face suddenly changed. "Thank you, Gang Orca. You're helping me learn and grow."
"You have much potential, Lumiere." Gang Orca glanced at the clock. "Time for our spar! Get dressed, Lumiere!"
"Yes, Gang Orca!"
Kaori spun on her heel, just barely dodging Gang Orca's punch, she charged at him, relentlessly attacking him. 'When Kacchan fights, he barely gives his opponent time to counter.' She tried to do something similar to Bakugou's style, but hand-to-hand combat was not her style so there were openings in her punches. She noticed Gang Orca's fist was raised, indicating he was going for a jab, so she quickly hopped back.
Out of breath, she smiled, "I-I evaded…on time."
"Your reaction time is becoming better. But still not fast enough." He spoke as he was suddenly in front of her and he struck her gut. Her eyes widened, her breath left her lungs as she flew, crashing to the tree behind the two, pain spread throughout her body. She wanted to just stay on the ground and sleep.
"Lumiere, get up and use your Quirk!"
"B…Break?" She asked.
"We have no time for breaks, do you think a villain will just let you rest?!"
'He's…right. But it still hurts." She slowly got up and she was met with excruciating pain. She fell to her knees. "A minute. That's all." The hero sighed but did not retort this time.
Gang Orca got into his stance, silently telling her the minute was up. When Kaori got up, the pain was still present, but she ignored it. At a snail's pace, she lifted her palm and formed a small rod, which was transparent. She ran towards the hero, despite her body protesting and hit Gang Orca with the weapon. It barely grazed him, yet she attacked him again.
"What do I do, Gang Orca?" Kaori knew she shouldn't stop attacking but she wasn't sure how to actually damage him.
"Think about what you do when the sun is out," He instructed.
'It comes naturally when the sun is out. But it does require some sort of concentration. So, I concentrate on the rod and nothing else? I can do this….'
Kaori went silent, she calmed her breathing and thought about the moon. Imagining the light shining bright, she stared intently at Gang Orca, she swung her rod at him. 'She has a good level of concentration.' Gang Orca's eyes widened, 'The rod…' The rod twinkled ever so slightly. Kaori pivoted, she headed for Gang Orca's left, but he easily deflected.
"It's time we stop," Gang Orca declared.
"Stop, why?"
"You learnt something just now. Concentration. Do you normally concentrate when the sun is out?"
"Only when I need to manipulate the object I formed." Kaori responded.
"So, what do you do when you normally fight?"
"When I fight, it comes…naturally." The girl sheepishly answered.
"From now on when you fight, you will focus instead of relying on instinct," Gang Orca instructed. Kaori nodded in response.
Kaori was pleased, she improved. She was growing. Most of all, she was learning. 'There's much more to my Quirk which I will uncover. I will reach its fullest potential. I have to.' She assured as she beamed to herself, tightening her grip on her rod.
Day 5
Kaori watched as the hero; Claws clashed with another hero's sword. The spar was engaging, her eyes were glued to the scene in front of her. She was curious as to who would win as they didn't surrender to the other's ability. Until one slipped up. The other hero made a minor mistake which led to his downfall. "The winner is…Claws!" Another hero present announced. A few of the heroes spectating the battle applauded, thrilled with the intense spar.
"Amazing…" Kaori muttered. She was in awe; the fight was captivating from the beginning to the end.
Gang Orca suggested that she watch some of the heroes' spar to improve her hand-to-hand combat. Claws walked over to Kaori. "Did you learn anything from the match?"
Memories of the other hero's slip up invaded her mind. "A simple mistake can ruin everything."
"Yes. So, when fighting others, be careful. Don't act carelessly!" Claws instructed.
"Yes, Claws!" Kaori vigorously nodded.
There were two days remaining before she had to return back home yet she still didn't have a clue as to what she should do for the support item. 'I can't give up regardless- 'There was a pinging sound behind her, interrupting her train of thoughts then she heard a voice. "Man, my phone is out of battery. I need to go charge it…" Kaori glanced at her phone, 'My battery's low as well, I should go charge- 'Kaori froze. Her eyes shot wide open, 'Battery? Charging? Don't tell me…' She brought her index finger up to her chin, deep in thought. 'That's it!' Kaori bolted out of the training grounds, rushing to her room, ignoring the eyes fixated on her.
She charged into her room, not bothering to close the door. Rapidly, she plugged her charger into her phone. 'My phone won't die because it has battery…My light won't go out if…'
"I did it…I really did it… I did it!" Kaori beamed. She finally found an idea for the support item.
