Hello friends, family, people that hate me, and the rest that have no idea who I am, welcome to another chapter of The Few, the Brave, and the Broken. I hope you enjoy your read and please feel free to comment on the story and message me about your thoughts. Soul Eater is property of the their respective owners, all of which are not me. Now without further delay, I hope you enjoy.

Revelations

It was curious how much effort it took to finally get this far in their journey. Not for the mission mind you but the fact the group agreed on the location to talk about things that was the real accomplishment. A place where Soul could explain his actions and be unable to get away. Maybe there was a time where this could have been settled quickly but that time was long gone. Now they couldn't take any chances, which is why Kid told Black-Star and Tsubaki to stand right next to Soul as an extra precaution. The pain in knowing that his close friends could no longer trust him must have hurt Soul pretty badly but even so, Kid still cared. He cared about Crona, he cared about Soul, he cared about all his friends and wanted to find out the truth just as much as they did. If only things weren't so complicated.

There had been hope in the beginning, hope that Soul would come clean and end this charade. Whether it was in Death City or in Louisiana didn't matter, so long as he came clean they could patch things up and get back to being friends. Maybe things wouldn't have been the same but surely it would've been better then now, right? Sadly, that wasn't the case. Soul had been tight lipped about everything and had squandered all the chances he had to fix it. Now there was nothing he could do.

Standing outside in the sweltering heat they waited for the taxi to come. Another topping on this glorious shit sundae. Funnily enough, things didn't seem to improve as time went on. While waiting for the taxi their was an argument about who would sit next to Crona. Why Patty wanted to sit next to him so badly was a bit of a mystery but Kid learned a long time ago not question these sort of things, especially when it came to Patty. Both girls tried to make a case to why they deserved to sit with him and did in fact have some good points for sure. Too bad for them Kid decided that all the boys would take one cab and the girls would take another. Naturally Soul being in the passenger seat to avoid any sort of conflict with Crona. Everyone had agreed with idea, though Maka and Patty did seem disappointed.

When the taxi finally showed up it was like a god sent from heaven. The driver was rather hesitant in allowing a bleeding and unconscious Black Star ride with them and had almost drove off until Kid stepped in to make a deal. The deal being that Kid had to pay three times the fair from where they were to the hotel in exchange for bringing in their bleeding friend and keeping quite. Not that it had much effect on the son of Lord Death but having to waste funds due to his friend's stupidity was not something he enjoyed doing. Regardless, Kid told the driver where to go and they were off.

It was a whole fun hour of awkward conversations and uncomfortable silence they had finally arrived at their destination. The hotel that was chosen for them was by all means average, a simple holiday inn normally used by tourists who didn't feel like spending money on something classy. Not something you'd imagine the son of a literal death god to stay at but it didn't matter. So long as they had their privacy he would make do.

Kid ran to the front desk of the hotel after nearly throwing his money at the face of the cab driver and quickly secured their room keys. He made sure Soul would be sharing a room with Black-Star and Tsubaki and placed them furthest away from everyone else to avoid worsening the situation. After that he helped Soul carry Black-Star to their room and waited with Crona for the girls.

Once the girls arrived Kid gave them their keys and told them to get settled in while he prepared his room for their meeting. Kid would text them when he was ready and then they would finally get started. Tsubaki recommended Black Star act as Soul's bodyguard to keep an eye on him and she would be there to keep an eye on Black Star, just in case things got out of hand. Kid couldn't trust Black-Star to keep quite for more then five minutes, but at least he was a good enough friend to Soul to protect him from the others and with Tsubaki there keeping an eye on him there shouldn't be any issue. It let Kid focus on another matter that desperately needed his attention.

The symmetry of the room.

With such a serious confrontation about to happen Kid had to make the room as perfect as possible lest their sanity and friendship be ruined forever. A tragedy far worse than the time Kid failed that exam all those months ago. Too much drama they said. He's being weird they said. If only they knew the horror of being unable to write your own name due to the lack of symmetry. Then they wouldn't give him such pitying stares every time he walked the halls.

But enough about that embarrassing moment in his life. He had work to do!

An hour of hard work and concentration would pass before he was satisfied. Kid had been able to make the room look somewhat presentable. Every pillow, every blanket, the clock and the lamp, even the bathroom furnishings were in complete order; as they should be. It might not have been perfect, but it would have to do.

Pulling out his cell phone, Kid texted Maka so that she and Crona would be the first to arrive. He would have texted Crona but knew that would've been a waste of time. Crona still wasn't use to having a cell phone and didn't normally use it unless someone either called or texted him first. Even then it took far too much time for him to respond to whatever message was sent so texting Maka was obviously the best choice.

Next was Liz and Patty. Liz had experience in dealing with Patty's violent behavior and knew just how to keep her under control….more or less. Though she was still angry at Soul for what he did, he knew she was smart enough to not try and kill him the moment she saw him. The same couldn't be said about Patty.

Finally the last was Tsubaki. She was the only one he could trust to be responsible and get those two to come. That and the fact he didn't have Black-Star's number. Not that he couldn't get it of course but he didn't feel like having the blue haired ninja blow up his phone with his constant bragging and challenges to duels. That was something he just didn't feel like doing. As for Soul, he didn't want to take the chance of having his text ignored just so the death scythe could put this off for a little bit longer.

After a few minutes of waiting and checking the room over one more time, everyone started to arrive. With Maka and Crona being first, followed by Liz and Patty, and finally Black-Star, Tsubaki, and Soul. Kid was still a tad unsure about the symmetry of the room but he'd have to trust himself in knowing that he did everything he could. Surely everyone would be able to stay composed enough to not ruin his hard work right? Deciding now was as good a time as ever, Kid cleared his throat to get everyone's attention.

It was time to begin.

"Now that everyone's here I think that we can finally get to the bottom of this. Soul, I don't think I need to explain the reason why you're here so let's keep this short. Why did you attack Crona?" asked Kid.

"Yeah Soul, why?" Said Patty. The albino scythe weapon opened his mouth to speak but quickly decided against it, turning his gaze away from everyone.

"Soul!" yelled Lix.

"Damn it Soul say something!" Even with potential of facing a weapon's violent rage Soul held fast in his silence. Liz narrowed her eyes and sneered her lips. Any respect she had for Soul had been nearly destroyed after what happened at the DWMA and was quickly dwindling even further.

"You worthless fucking pussy. I can't believe you don't even got the balls say anything. A piece of shit like you deserves to thrown out with the rest of the trash." The insult was hurtful and enough to make Soul flinch but it wasn't surprising.

"Soul, I can understand that you're nervous about this but I told you before that saying nothing would only make things worse for you. We're just trying to find out what happened. Please, if you want this to be over then you need to tell us the truth, now." Kid had remained clam and sincere with his tone but had to make sure he emphasized the seriousness of the situation. It was clear that getting aggressive with Soul was getting them nowhere so a new strategy had to be used. If the rest of the group was going to be brash about things then maybe showing some compassion will help loosen his lips.

As time ticked by with no words being said, Kid opted to once again try to appeal to his friend but was cut off before he could speak.

"Alright, you want to know the truth? Fine. The reason why I went after Crona was…." Soul paused his words and clenched his fist.

"Was because of what he did to Maka."

"What? What do you mean 'what he did to Maka?' What'd he do?" asked Black-Star.

Crona looked positively dumbfounded at this accusation. Maka had defended him, spent time with him, offered her home to him, and even ate breakfast made by him. In his eyes she was the greatest person in the world. He'd never do anything to hurt her. Not again….

"Soul could you please elaborate?" asked Kid. Soul took a calming breath before he continued.

"Back at school when we were in the hall, Ragnarok came out and said something…messed up... and I guess I lost my cool." He explained. The remorse was clear in his voice.

"So that's why you attacked him." Soul nodded.

While it wasn't that surprising to hear that Ragnarok would antagonize someone. It wasn't enough to understand Soul's reasons. The little black devil had always been abusive to his miester but never did he involve anyone else in his torment, at least nothing to the same level of what he normally did. There had to be more to this.

"While I can understand Ragnarok being frustrating to deal with that still doesn't explain why you took it out on Crona or how Maka is involved in all of this." Kid came closer to Soul, moving until they were face-to-face.

"Soul, what's really going on?" The death scythe stared at his friend, then looked to the others. They were waiting for an answer and wouldn't let him go until he gave one. There was no point in dragging this on anymore. Without a word, Soul turned away from Kid and started walking to his miester.

"Maka." He sighed. Staring into his miesters eyes Soul gathered the courage he needed to speak from the heart.

"I know I've got not right to say this and I know what you'll probably say even if I do but…" Soul took a deep breath to gather his nerve.

"I'm in with love you."

As if on cue, all the room's residents looked on in surprise. Everyone knew Soul and Maka were close, as were all miester and weapon pairs, but it never appeared to be anything more then a brother-sister relationship.

"W-what?"

"I love you Maka. I have for a long time. I've always wanted to say it but….you know." He sounded genuine but by looks of his meister he would not get the answer he wanted.

"I'm sorry Soul. I-" Maka began but was cut off before she could finish.

"Don't….just don't. I already know what you're going to say."

"But Soul I-"

"Maka! I get it." It hurt that Soul had to hear this but in the end it had to be done. He had already known the answer. He just needed to accept it.

As Soul's words started to sink in, the girl of his affections began to think about her own feelings. Maka loved him, but not in that way. He was a friend, a brother, a man she would trust with her life, and a man she would gladly fight for. But this was something she could not do. She could not give him what he wanted. She could not give him her heart. Maybe it was the knowledge that her parents were once a pair and still got divorced that was still fresh in her mind. Maybe that was why she was never interested in being in a relationship. The fact that even those who were willing to fight and die for one another and gone through so much together still ended up losing everything was enough to make her reconsider taking a chance with her partner.

"I think I've figured out what happened." Kid said.

"Well I didn't. What does Soul liking Maka have to do with anything? What about Crona?"

"Black-Star…" Kid stared at his friend in annoyance. Sometimes he wished Black-Star would take the hint and keep his mouth shut but, as always, that was asking for too much. Regardless, it was best to answer him now and get it over with.

"Well Black-Star to put it simply, Soul was in love with Maka and got angry when Ragnarok insinuated something going on between her and Crona. That's why Soul attacked him." Kid looked to his friend to see if he understood and for once he looked like he actually did.

"Wait, so your telling me Soul was jealous of Crona?" Liz asked.

"What?! M-Me?!" Naturally it was strange to think that anybody feeling envious of Crona. It was almost unbelievable. Even less so when you think about Soul being the one who was jealous. Crona was shy, awkward, nervous, and had to deal with a black blooded nuisance almost everyday while Soul always prided himself in being the coolest of the cool and had girls fawning over him left and right.

"I-I didn't mean to! I mean I'm sorry! I mean -oh, I don't know how to deal with this!" Crona panicked.

"It's alright Crona, it's not your fault." Kid said before clearing his throat.

"Soul I can understand you having feelings for your meister. I can also understand you getting angry at Ragnarok, but even if there was something going on between her and Crona that didn't give you the right to do what you did." Soul lowered his head in shame as Kid scolded him for his deed. It was obvious now that his actions were a moment of weakness. An envious reaction against the boy who had taken away the girl that he loved. It was not excusable but at least it was understandable.

"I know it wasn't right to go off on Crona like that and I really feel bad about what happened. But your right, I shouldn't have done it. Soul raised his head and faced his friends. He knew they were disappointed in him but at least they knew the truth. Facing Crona with confidence he would now say his piece.

"Crona I'm sorry for what I did. It wasn't cool of me to take it out on you, especially when you didn't do anything. It wasn't right and it wasn't cool of me. I'm sorry."

"I-It's ok Soul. I don't blame you. I just want us to be friends again. I-f that's alright I mean." A small smile graced Soul's lips as his friend forgave him. Crona was simply too kind to hold a grudge. It just wasn't the kind of man he was and Soul was grateful because of it. He knew things wouldn't go back to the way things were, but at least now he could move on.

Out of the corner of his eye he could see Patty and Liz still annoyed over the matter. He knew he would have to apologies to them too. Crona may have forgiven him but the Thompson sisters wouldn't be easily convinced. However, he did notice they were a lot less angry then they were a few minutes ago so maybe things wouldn't be so bad.

"So what did Ragnarok say anyways?" Of course Black-Star would bring it up.

"Nothing!" Maka yelled.

"I'm curious too. What did Ragnarok say to cause all this?" Now Tsubaki was curious.

"I said nothing!" Maka yelled louder as both her and Crona started to blush. They may have got together to figure out the truth but notthiskind of truth. Things could not get any worse. At least that's what the hope was until a familiar monster popped out of Crona's back. Now things were about to get worse.

"Holy shit this is getting stupid. I am not going to wait inside this wimp just so ya'll can skip out on the best part. The reason why shark boy was pissed at Crona was because-"

"RAGNAROK STOP!" Crona pleaded.

"Of how freakin big he is!" The black blob was probably smirking as he pushed his "hands" together before extending them as far as his arms would allow. The mouths of a few of others nearly dropped.

"MAKA CHOP" A book thrown with enough force to shatter a man's bone crashed into the small creature laying on top of Crona's head, coating the wall behind them with a black stain that would probably never come out. The group stood still, silent after hearing this news about their now humiliated friend. Expressions ranging from embarrassment, to interest, to confusion, to jealousy were happening all at once and soon everyone started to imagine the extent of the demon sword's words, never knowing that one of them already had the luxury of knowing.

Unsurprisingly, as the situation grew more and more uncomfortable, there was one voice that decided to do the impossible. A generous soul that gave everyone a gift that really tied everything together. A wonderful gift that would make the situation all the more awkward.

That person was Black-Star.

"So...how big is he?"

And that's the end of that chapter! I'm sorry it took so long but I got an understandable excuse that may or may not be terrible. I wouldn't be surprised if people thought I gave up on it all together. Still, I just want you all to know that not once did I forget about it. Everyday I thought 'oh I write a little bit' but that moment got pushed back because of….well….procrastination. My worry of adding too much dialogue played a part in it too and I had to rewrite the chapter more then once. From scratch I might add! Still that's no excuse for the long delay and I apologize from the bottom of my heart. I hope you all will stick around and give me a chance to make something great. Feel free to send me a message and give your input, or maybe bother me to make sure I get my sh #t together. Whatever the circumstance though, I thank you for reading this chapter and I hope to hear from you all soon.

Peace!
